I wish I had accepted the permission of Allah Messenger ﷺ as I have become a weak old man. It is said that Abdullah used to recite one-seventh of the Quran during the day-time to some of his family members; for he used to check his memorization of what he would recite at night during the daytime so that it would be easier for him to read at night. And whenever he wanted to gain some strength; he used to give up fasting for some days and count those days to fast for a similar period; for he disliked to leave those things which he used to do during the lifetime of the Prophet. Hafsa sent it to Uthman. Uthman then ordered Zaid Bin Thabit; Abdullah Bin AlZubair; Saeed Bin AlAs and Abdulrahman Bin Harith Bin Hisham to rewrite the manuscripts in perfect copies. Uthman said to the three Quraishi men; In case you disagree with Zaid Bin Thabit on any point in the Quran; then write it in the dialect of Quraish; the Quran was revealed in their tongue. They did so; and when they had written many copies; Uthman returned the original manuscripts to Hafsa. Uthman sent to every Muslim province one copy of what they had copied; and ordered that all the other Quranic materials; whether written in fragmentary manuscripts or whole copies; be burnt.
