Abu Bakr said: Allah Messenger; may my father be sacrificed for you; by Allah; allow me to interpret it. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Well; give its interpretation. Thereupon Abu Bakr said: The canopy signifies the canopy of Islam and that what trickles out of it in the form of butter and honey is the Holy Quran and its sweetness and softness and what the people get hold of it in their palms implies major portion of the Quran or the small portion; and so far as the rope joining the sky with the earth is concerned; it is the Truth by which you stood in the worldly life and by which Allah would raise you to Heaven. Then the person after you would take hold of it and he would also climb up with the help of it. Then another person would take hold of it and climb up with the help of it. Then another person would take hold of it and it would be broken; then it would be rejoined for him and he would climb up with the help of it. Allah Messenger; may my father be taken as a ransom for you; tell me whether I have interpreted it correctly or I have made an error. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: You have interpreted a part of it correctly and you have erred in interpreting a part of it. Thereupon he said: Allah Messenger; by Allah; tell me that part where I have committed an error. Thereupon he said: Dont take an oath. SahihMuslim-017-001-19639
- It was narrated that Abdulrahman Bin Abd Rabb AlKabah said: I came to Abdullah Bin Amr Bin AlAs while he was sitting in the shade of Kabah; and the people were gathered around him; and I heard him say: While we were with the Messenger of Allah on a journey; we stopped to camp; and some of us were pitching tents; some were competing in shooting arrows; and some were taking the animals out to race them. Then the caller of the Prophet called out: AlPrayeru Jamiah prayer is about to begin. So we gathered; and the Messenger of Allah stood up and addressed us. He said: There has a never been a prophet before me who was not obliged to tell his nation of what he knew was good for them; and to warn against that he knew was bad for them. With regard to Ummah of yours; soundness of religious commitment has been placed in its earlier generations; and the last of them will be afflicted with calamities and things that you dislike. Then there will come tribulations which will make the earlier ones pale into significances; and the believer will say: This will be then end of me; then relief will come. Then more tribulations will come and the believer will say: this will be the end of me; then relief will come. Whoever would like to be taken far away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise; let him die believing in Allah and the Last Day; and let him treat people as he would like to be treated. Whoever pledges to a ruler and gives him the grasp of his hand and the sincerity of his heart; the let him obey him as much as he can; and if another comes and challenges him; let them strike the neck of i.e.; kill the second one.He said: I drew near to him and said: Did you hear the Messenger of Allah say that? He Yes; and quoted the Hadith without interruption in the chain SunanAlNasai-017-001-13862
- Sufyan Bin Abdullah AlThaqafi said: I said: O Messenger of Allah! Inform me about a matter that I may hold fast to. He said:Say: My Lord is Allah; then be steadfast. I said: O Messenger of Allah! What do you fear most for me? So he took hold of his tongue and said: This. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-9652
- Qais Bin Ubaida reported: I was sitting in a company in which there were besides others Saad Bin Malik and Ibn Umar that Abdullah Bin Saliim happened to pass by that side. They the people sitting in that company said: He is a person from amongst the dwellers of Paradise. I stood up and said to him: They say such and such thing about you ; whereupon he said: Hallowed be Allah; it is not meet for them to say anything of which They have no knowledge. Verily I saw as if a pillar had been raised in a green garden and there had been fixed at its upper end a handhold and there was a helper at its base. It was said to me: Climb up. So I climbed up and caught hold of the haildhold. I narrated the contents of this dream to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; whereupon he said: Abdullah would die in a state that he would be catching hold of the firmest handhold he would die holding fast to the faith. SahihMuslim-017-001-20791
- Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah SWAS sent a man of AlAslam tribe and sent with him eighteen sacrificial camels as offering to Makkah. What do you think if any one of them becomes fatigued. He replied : You should sacrifice it then dye its shoe with its blood; then mark with it on its neck. But you or any of your companions should not eat out of it. Abu Dawud said: The following words of this tradition are not supported by any other tradition You should not eat of it yourself nor any of your companions. The version of Abdal Warith has the words then hang it in its neck instead of the words mark or strike with it. Abu Dawud said I heard Abu Salamah say if the chain of narrators and the meaning are correct; it is sufficient for you. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25428
- Ibn Abbas said: Abu Huraira said that a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I saw in my dream a piece of cloud from which ghee and honey were dropping. I saw the people spreading their hands. Some of them took much and some a little. I also saw a rope hanging from Heaven to Earth. I saw; Messenger of Allah; that you caught hold of it and ascended by it. Then another man caught hold of it and ascended it. Then another man caught hold of it and ascended it. Then another man caught hold of it; but it broke; and then it was joined and he ascended it. Abu Bakr said: May my parents be sacrificed for you; if you allow; I shall interpret it. He said: Interpret it. He said: The piece of cloud is the cloud of Islam; the ghee and honey that were dropping from it are the Quran; which contains softness and sweetness. Those who received much or little of it are those who learn much or little of the Quran. The rope hanging from Heaven to Earth is the truth which you are following. You catch hold of it and then Allah will raise you to Him. Then another man will catch hold of it and ascend it; Then another man will catch hold of it and it will break. But it will be joined and he will ascend it. Tell me. Messenger of Allah; whether I am right or wrong. He said: You are partly right and partly wrong. He said: I adjure you by Allah; you should tell me where I am wrong. The Prophet ﷺ said: Do not take an oath. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25849
- This hadith has been narrated through another chain of transmitters and the narrator made a mention of elevated forehead; but he made no mention of tucked-up loin cloth and made this addition: There stood up Umar Bin AlKhattab Allah be pleased with him ; and said: Should I not strike his neck? Upon this he said: No. Then he turned away; and Khalid the Sword of Allah stood up against him; and said: Prophet of Allah. shall I not strike off his neck? He said; No; and then said: A people would rise from his progeny who would recite the Book of Allah glibly and fluently. Umar said: I think he the Holy Prophet also said this: If I find them I would certainly kill them like Thamud. SahihMuslim-017-001-22089
- Abu Huraira narrated that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I had a dream of a cloud with shade dripping butter and honey. I saw the people scooping it up with their hands; some taking much and some taking little. I saw a rope extending from the sky to the earth. Then I saw you O Messenger of Allah ! You took hold of it and went up; then a man took hold of it after you do so; then a man took hold of it after him to do so. Then a man took hold of it and it was severed; and then connected for him; and he did so i.e. ; went up. Abu Bakr said: May my father and mother be ransomed for you O Messenger of Allah! Allow me to interpret it. He said: Interpret it. so he said: As for the cloud with its shade; it is Islam. As for what the butter and honey that dropped from it; this is the Quran and its delicateness and sweetness. It means some of them gathered much of the Quran and some of them a little. As for the rope extending from the sky to the earth; it is the truth which you are upon; you clug to it and Allah exalted you. Then another man will take hold of it after you and ascend on it; then after him; another man will take hold of it and ascend on it. Then another [man] will take hold of it but it will break; then be connected so he will ascend on it. Inform me O Messenger of Allah! Am I correct or am I mistaken? The Prophet ﷺ said: You are correct in some of it and mistaken in some of it. He i.e.; Abu Bakr said: I swear to you by my father and my mother O Messenger of Allah! Inform me in what I was mistaken? The Prophet ﷺ said: Do not swear. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-9543
- Narrated Abdullah Ibn Masud: Alqamah said that Abdullah Ibn Masud caught hold of his hand saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ caught hold of his Ibn Masuds hand and taught him the tashahhud during prayer. He then narrated the well known tradition of tashahhud. This version adds: When you say this or finish this; then you have completed your prayer. If you want to stand up; then stand; and if you want to remain sitting; then remain sitting. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27948
