When he noticed her sorrow; he confided something else to her for the second time; and she started laughing. Only I from among the Prophet wives said to her; O Fatima ; Allah Messenger ﷺ selected you from among us for the secret talk and still you weep? When Allah Messenger ﷺ got up and went away ; I asked her; What did he confide to you? She said; I wouldnt disclose the secrets of Allah Messenger ﷺ But when he died I asked her; I beseech you earnestly by what right I have on you; to tell me that secret talk which the Prophet had with you She said; As you ask me now; yes; I will tell you. She informed me; saying; When he talked to me secretly the first time; he said that Gabriel used to review the Quran with him once every year. He added; But this year he reviewed it with me twice; and therefore I think that my time of death has approached. So; be afraid of Allah; and be patient; for I am the best predecessor for you in the Hereafter. Fatima added; So I wept as you Aisha witnessed. I would have spent all of it distributed it amongst Allah Slaves like this; and like this; and like this. The Prophet ﷺ pointed out with his hand towards his right; his left and his back while illustrating it. He proceeded with his walk and said; The rich are in fact the poor little rewarded on the Day of Resurrection except those who spend their wealth like this; and like this; and like this; to their right; left and back; but such people are few in number. Then he said to me; Stay at your place and do not leave it till I come back. Then he proceeded in the darkness of the night till he went out of sight; and then I heard a loud voice; and was afraid that something might have happened to the Prophet ﷺ.1 intended to go to him; but I remembered what he had said to me; i.e. Dont leave your place till I come back to you; so I remained at my place till he came back to me. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I heard a voice and I was afraid. So I mentioned the whole story to him. He said; Did you hear it? I replied; Yes. He said; It was Gabriel who came to me and said; Whoever died without joining others in worship with Allah; will enter Paradise. Youd better leave your inheritors wealthy rather than leaving them poor; begging others. You will get a reward for whatever you spend for Allah sake; even for what you put in your wife mouth. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Will I be left alone after my companions have gone? He said; If you are left behind; whatever good deeds you will do will upgrade you and raise you high. And perhaps you will have a long life so that some people will be benefited by you while others will be harmed by you. O Allah! I had left my whip; so I said to them; Hand to me my whip. They said; We will not help you in that in hunting the onager. I got down; took my whip and chased the animal on my horse and did not stop till I killed it. I went to them and said; Come on; carry it! But they said; We will not even touch it. I said; Abdullah my father died and left girls; and I dislike to marry a girl like them; so I married a lady matron so that she may look after them. If he was informed that he had left something to cover his debts the Prophet ﷺ would offer the funeral prayer for him; otherwise he would say to the Muslims present there ; Offer the funeral prayer for your friend:but when Allah helped the Prophet ﷺ to gain victory on his expeditions ; he said; I am closer to the Believers than themselves; so. if one of the Believers dies in debt; I will repay it; but if he leaves wealth; it will be for his heirs. The Chapter on Debt And Creditors And Paying Zakat in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on If one dies leaving debts to be repaid or dependents to be taken care of it is for me in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3336Narrated AlBara: Abu Bakr bought a camel saddle from Azib for thirteen Dirhams. Abu Bakr said to Azib; Tell AlBara to carry the saddle for me. Azib said; No; unless you relate to me what happened to you and Allah Messenger ﷺ when you left Mecca while the pagans were in search of you. Abu Bakr said; We left Mecca and we traveled continuously for that night and the following day till it was midday. I looked around searching for shade to take as shelter; and suddenly I came across a rock; and found a little shade there. So I cleaned the place and spread a bed for the Prophet ﷺ in the shade and said to him; Lie down; O Allah Messenger ﷺ. So the Prophet ﷺ lay down and I went out; looking around to see if there was any person pursuing us. Suddenly I saw a shepherd driving his sheep towards the rock; seeking what we had already sought from it. I asked him; To whom do you belong; O boy? He said; I belong to a man from Quraish. He named the man and I recognized him. I asked him; Is there any milk with your sheep? He said; Yes. I said; Will you then milk some for us? He said; Yes. Then I asked him to tie the legs of one of the sheep and clean its udder; and then ordered him to clean his hands from dust. Then the shepherd cleaned his hands by striking his hands against one another. After doing so; he milked a small amount of milk. I used to keep for Allah Messenger ﷺ a leather water-container; the mouth of which was covered with a piece of cloth. I poured water on the milk container till its lower part was cold. Then I took the milk to the Prophet ﷺ whom I found awake. I said to him; Drink; O Allah Messenger ﷺ. So he drank till I became pleased. Then I said; It is time for us to move; O Allah Apostle! He said; Yes. So we set out while the people i.e. Quraish pagans were searching for us; but none found us except Suraqah Bin Malik Bin Jushum who was riding his horse. I said; These are our pursuers who have found us. O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3552Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Whenever the Prophet ﷺ passed by my mother Um-Sulaim he used to enter her and greet her. Anas further said: Once the Prophet ﷺ way a bridegroom during his marriage with Zainab; Um Sulaim said to me; Let us give a gift to Allah Messenger ﷺ. I said to her; Do it. So she prepared Haisa a sweet dish made from dates; butter and dried yoghurt and she sent it with me to him. I took it to him and he said; Put it down; and ordered me to call some men whom he named; and to invite whomever I would meet. I did what he ordered me to do; and when I returned; I found the house crowded with people and saw the Prophet ﷺ keeping his hand over the Haisa and saying over it whatever Allah wished him to say. Then he called the men in batches of ten to eat of it; and he said to them; Mention the Name of Allah; and each man should eat of the dish the nearest to him. When all of them had finished their meals; some of them left and a few remained there talking; over which I felt unhappy. Then the Prophet ﷺ went out towards the dwelling places of his wives and I too; went out after him and told him that those people had left. Then he returned and entered his dwelling place and let the curtains fall while I was in his dwelling place; and he was reciting the Verses:- O you who believe! Enter not the Prophet house until leave is given you for a meal; and then not as early as to what for its preparation. But when you are invited; enter; and when you have taken your meals; disperse without sitting for a talk. Verily such behavior annoys the Prophet; and he would be shy of asking you to go ; but Allah is not shy of telling you the Truth. 33-53 Abu Uthman said: Anas said; I served the Prophet for ten years. The Chapter on Preparing Meals In Basic Instinct in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The giving of a present to the bridegroom in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3555Narrated Anas Bin Malik: I was ten years old when Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived at Medina. My mother and aunts used to urge me to serve the Prophet ﷺ regularly; and I served him for ten years. When the Prophet ﷺ died I was twenty years old; and I knew about the order of AlHijab veiling of ladies more than any other person when it was revealed. It was revealed for the first time when Allah Messenger ﷺ had consummated his marriage with Zainab bint Jahsh. When the day dawned; the Prophet ﷺ was a bridegroom and he invited the people to a banquet; so they came; ate; and then all left except a few who remained with the Prophet ﷺ for a long time. The Prophet ﷺ got up and went out; and I too went out with him so that those people might leave too. The Prophet ﷺ proceeded and so did I; till he came to the threshold of Aisha dwelling place. Then thinking that these people have left by then; he returned and so did I along with him till he entered upon Zainab and behold; they were still sitting and had not gone. So the Prophet ﷺ again went away and I went away along with him. When we reached the threshold of Aisha dwelling place; he thought that they had left; and so he returned and I too; returned along with him and found those people had left. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3799Narrated Saad Bin Malik: In the year of Hajjat AlWada the Prophet ﷺ visited me when I fell ill and was about to die because of that illness. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I am very ill as you see; and I am a rich man and have no heir except my only daughter. Shall I give 2/3 of my property in charity? He said; No. I said; Shall I then give one half of it in charity? He said; O Sad! Give 1/3 in charity and even 1/3 is too much. No doubt; it is better to leave your children rich than to leave them poor; reduced to begging from others. And Allah will reward you for whatever you spend with the intention of gaining Allah Pleasure even if it were a mouthful of food you put into your wives mouth. I said; O Allah Apostle! Am I to be left behind in Mecca after my companions have gone? He said; If you should be left behind; you will be upgraded and elevated for every deed you will do with a desire to achieve Allah Pleasure. I hope that you will live long so that some people will benefit by you while others will be harmed. O Allah! Please fulfill the migration of my companions and do not make them turn back on their heels. But we feel sorry for the unlucky Saad Bin Khaulah. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3993Narrated Aisha: mother of the believers After the death of Allah Apostle Fatima the daughter of Allah Messenger ﷺ asked Abu Bakr AlSiddiq to give her; her share of inheritance from what Allah Messenger ﷺ had left of the Fai i.e. booty gained without fighting which Allah had given him. Abu Bakr said to her; Allah Apostle said; Our property will not be inherited; whatever we i.e. prophets leave is Sadaqa to be used for charity. Fatima; the daughter of Allah Messenger ﷺ got angry and stopped speaking to Abu Bakr; and continued assuming that attitude till she died. Fatima remained alive for six months after the death of Allah Messenger ﷺ. She used to ask Abu Bakr for her share from the property of Allah Messenger ﷺ which he left at Khaibar; and Fadak; and his property at Medina devoted for charity. Abu Bakr refused to give her that property and said; I will not leave anything Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do; because I am afraid that if I left something from the Prophet tradition; then I would go astray. Later on Umar gave the Prophet property of Sadaqa at Medina to Ali and Abbas; but he withheld the properties of Khaibar and Fadak in his custody and said; These two properties are the Sadaqa which Allah Apostle used to use for his expenditures and urgent needs. Now their management is to be entrusted to the ruler. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4029Narrated Abdullah Bin AlZubair: When AlZubair got up during the battle of AlJamal; he called me and I stood up beside him; and he said to me; O my son! Today one will be killed either as an oppressor or as an oppressed one. I see that I will be killed as an oppressed one. My biggest worry is my debts. Do you think; if we pay the debts; there will be something left for us from our money? AlZubair added; O my son! Sell our property and pay my debts. AlZubair then willed one-third of his property and willed one-third of that portion to his sons; namely; Abdullah sons. He said; One-third of the one third. If any property is left after the payment of the debts; one-third of the one-third of what is left is to be given to your sons. Hisham; a sub-narrator added; Some of the sons of Abdullah were equal in age to the sons of AlZubair e.g. Khubaib and Abbas. Abdullah had nine sons and nine daughters at that time. The narrator Abdullah added: My father AlZubair went on drawing my attention to his debts saying; If you should fail to pay part of the debts; appeal to my Master to help you. By Allah! I could not understand what he meant till I asked; O father! Who is your Master? He replied; Allah is my Master. By Allah; whenever I had any difficulty regarding his debts; I would say; Master of AlZubair! Pay his debts on his behalf. and Allah would help me to pay it. AlZubair was martyred leaving no Dinar or Dirham but two pieces of land; one of which was called AlGhaba; and eleven houses in Medina; two in Basra; one in Kufa and one in Egypt. In fact; the source of the debt which he owed was; that if somebody brought some money to deposit with him. AlZubair would say; No; i wont keep it as a trust ; but I take it as a debt; for I am afraid it might be lost. AlZubair was never appointed governor or collector of the tax of Kharaj or any other similar thing; but he collected his wealth from the war booty he gained during the holy battles he took part in; in the company of the Prophet; Abu Bakr; Umar; and Uthman. Abdullah Bin AlZubair added: When I counted his debt; it turned to be two million and two hundred thousand. The sub-narrator added: Hakim Bin Hizam met Abdullah Bin AlZubair and asked; O my nephew! How much is the debt of my brother? Abdullah kept it as a secret and said; One hundred thousand; Hakim said; By Allah! I dont think your property will cover it. On that Abdullah said to him; What if it is two million and two hundred thousand? Hakim said; I dont think you can pay it; so if you are unable to pay all of it; I will help you. AlZubair had already bought AlGhaba for one hundred and seventy thousand. Abdullah sold it for one million and six hundred thousand. Then he called the people saying; Any person who has any money claim on AlZubair should come to us in AlGhaba. There came to him Abdullah Bin Jafar whom AlZubair owed four hundred thousand. He said to Abdullah Bin AlZubair; If you wish I will forgive you the debt. Abdullah bin AlZubair said; No. Then Ibn Jafar said; If you wish you can defer the payment if you should defer the payment of any debt. Ibn AlZubair said; No. Abdullah Bin Jafar said; Give me a piece of the land. Abdullah Bin AlZubair said to him ; Yours is the land extending from this place to this place. So; Abdullah Bin AlZubair sold some of the property including the houses and paid his debt perfectly; retaining four and a half shares from the land i.e. AlGhaba. He then went to Muawlya while Amr Bin Uthman; AlMundhir Bin AlZubair and Ibn Zama were sitting with him. Muawiya asked; At what price have you appraised AlGhaba? He said; One hundred thousand for each share; Muawiya asked; How many shares have been left? Abdullah replied; Four and a half shares. AlMundhir Bin AlZubair said; I would like to buy one share for one hundred thousand. Amr Bin Uthman said; I would like to buy one share for one hundred thousand. Ibn Zama said; I would like to buy one share for one hundred thousand. Muawiya said; How much is left now? Abdullah replied; One share and a half. Muawiya said; I would like to buy it for one hundred and fifty thousand. Abdullah also sold his part to Muawiya six hundred thousand. When Ibn AlZubair had paid all the debts. AlZubair sons said to him; Distribute our inheritance among us. He said; No; by Allah; I will not distribute it among you till I announce in four successive Hajj seasons; Would those who have money claims on AlZubair come so that we may pay them their debt. So; he started to announce that in public in every Hajj season; and when four years had elapsed; he distributed the inheritance among the inheritors. AlZubair had four wives; and after the one-third of his property was excluded according to the will ; each of his wives received one million and two hundred thousand. So the total amount of his property was fifty million and two hundred thousand. The Chapter on Debt And Creditors And Property Inheritance in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Blessed is the wealth of a living or a dead Ghazi in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihMuslim-017-001-17680Abu Huraira Allah be pleased with him reported that when the body of a dead person having burden of debt upon him was brought to Allah Messenger ﷺ he would ask whether he had left property enough to clear off his debt; and if the property left had been sufficient for that purpose ; he observed funeral prayer for him; otherwise he said to his companions : You observe prayer for your companion. But when Allah opened the gateways of victory for him; he said: I am nearer to the believers than themselves; so if anyone dies leaving a debt; its payment is my responsibility; and if anyone leaves a property; it goes to his heirs.Chapter on 4 in Sahih Muslim

Nay; they are alive; finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord.. iii. 169. He said: We asked the meaning of the verse from the Holy Prophet who said: The souls; of the martyrs live in the bodies of green birds who have their nests in chandeliers hung from the throne of the Almighty. They eat the fruits of Paradise from wherever they like and then nestle in these chandeliers. Once their Lord cast a glance at them and said: Do ye want anything? They said: What more shall we desire? We eat the fruit of Paradise from wherever we like. Their Lord asked them the same question thrice. When they saw that they will continue to be asked and not left without answering the question. they said: O Lord; we wish that Thou mayest return our souls to our bodies so that we may be slain in Thy way once again. SahihMuslim-017-001-18088It has been narrated on the authority of Abdullah Bin Rabah who said: We came to Muawiya Bin Abu Sufyan as a deputation and Abu Huraira was among us. Each of us would prepare food for his companions turn by turn for a day. Accordingly when it was my turn I said: Abu Huraira; it is my turn today. So they came to my place. The food was not yet ready; so I said to Abu Huraira: I wish you could narrate to us a tradition from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until the food was ready. Complying with my request Abu Huraira said: We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the Conquest of Mecca. He appointed Khalid Bin Walid as commander of the right flank; AlZubair as commander of the left flank; and Abu Ubaida as commander of the foot-soldiers who were to advance to the interior of the valley. He then said: Abu Huraira; call the Ansar to me. So I called out to them and they came hurriedly. He said: O ye Assembly of the Ansaar; do you see the ruffians of the Quraish? They said: Yes. He said: See; when you meet them tomorrow; wipe them out. He hinted at this with his hand; placing his right hand on his left and said: You will meet us at AlSafa. Abu Huraira continued : Whoever was seen by them that day was put to death. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the mount of AlSafa. The Ansar also came there and surrounded the mount. Then came Abu Sufyan and said: Messenger ot Allah; the Quraish have perished. No member of the Quraish tribe will survive this day. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Who enters the house of Abu Safyin will be safe; who lays down arms will be safe; who locks his door will be safe. some of the Ansar said: After all the man has been swayed by tenderness towards his family and love for his city. At this; Divine inspiration descended upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: You were saying that the man has been swayed by tenderness towards his family and love for his city. Do you know what my name is? I am Muhammad; the bondman of God and His Messenger. He repeated this thrice. I left my native place for the take of Allah and joined you. So I will live with you and die with you. Now the Ansar said: By God; we said that only out of our greed for Allah and His Messenger. He said: Allah and His Apostle testify to you and accept your apology. The Chapter on Alansar And Quraish in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 31 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18142It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Salama. He heard the tradition from his father who said: We arrived at Hudaibiya with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we were fourteen hundred in number. There were fifty goats for them which could not be watered by the small quantity of water in the local well. So; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat on the brink of the well. Either he prayed or spat into the well The water welled up. We drank and watered the beasts as well. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called us to take the vow of allegiance; as he was sitting at the base of a tree. I was the first man to take the vow. Then other people took the vow. When half the number of people had done so; he said to me: You take the vow; Salama. I said: I was one of those who took the vow in the first instance. He said: You may do again. Then the Messenger. of Allah ﷺ saw that I was without weapons. He gave me a big or a small shield. Then he continued to administer vows to the people until it was the last batch of them. He said to me : Wont you swear allegiance; Salama? I said: Messenger of Allah; I took the oath with the first batch of the people and then again when you were in the middle of the people. He said: Doesnt matter ; you may do so again. So I took the oath of allegiance thrice. Then he said to me: Salama; where is the shield which I gave to thee? I said: Messenger of Allah; my uncle Amir met me and he was without any weapons. So I gave the shield to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed and said: You are like a person of the days gone by who said: O God. I seek a friend who is dearer to me than myself. When all Companions had sworn allegiance to the Holy Prophet ; the polytheists sent messages of peace; until people could move from our camp to that of the Meccans and vice versa. Finally; the peace treaty was concluded. I was a dependant of Talha Bin Ubaidullah. I watered his horse; rubbed its back. I served Talha doing odd jobs for him and partook from his food. I had left my family and my property as an emigrant in the cause of Allah and His Messenger may peace be uron him. When we and the people of Mecca had concluded a peace treaty and the people of one side began to mix with those of the other; I came to a tree; swept away its thorns and lay down for rest at its base; while I lay there ; four of the polytheists from the Meccans came to me and began to talk ill of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I got enraged with them and moved to another tree. They hung their weapons to the branches of the tree and lay down for rest. While they lay there ; somebody from the lower part of the valley cried out: Run up; O Muhajirs! Ibn Zunaim has been murdered. I drew my sword and attacked these four while they were asleep. I seized their arms and collected them up in my hand; and said: By the Being Who has conferred honour upon Muhammad; none of you shall raise his head; else I will smite his face. Then I came driving them along to the Prophet ﷺ. At the same time. my uncle Amir came to him with a man from Abalat called Mikraz. Amir was dragging him on a horse with a thick covering on its back along with seventy polytheists. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ cast a glance at them and said: Let them go so that they may prove guilty of breach of trust more than once before we take action against them. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forgave them. On this occasion. God revealed the Quranic verse: It is He Who restrained their hands from you and your hands from them in the valley of Mecca after He had granted you a victory over them xlviii. 24. Then we moved returning to Medina; and halted at a place where there was a mountain between us and Banu Lihyan who were polytheists. The Messenaer of Allah ﷺ asked God forgiveness for one who ascended the mountain at night to act as a scout for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Compinions. I ascended that mountain twice or thrice that night. At last we reached Medina. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent his camels with his slave; Rabah; and I was with him. I also went to the pasture with the horse of Talha along with the camels. When the day dawned; Abdulrahman AlFazari made a raid and drove away all the camels of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and killed the man who looked after them. I said: Rabah; ride this horse; take it to Talha Bin Ubaidullah and Inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that the polytheists have made away with his camels. Then I stood upon a hillock and turning my face to Medina; shouted thrice: Come to our help I Then I set out in pursuit of the raiders; shooting at them with arrows and chanting a self-eulogatory verse in the Iambic metre: I am the son of AlAkwa And today is the day of defeat for the mean. I would overtake a man from them; shoot at him an arrow which; piercing through the saddle; would reach his shoulder. and I would say: Take it; chanting at the same time the verse And I am the son of AlAkwa And tody is the day of defeat for the mean. By God; I continued shooting at them and hamstringing their animals. Whenever a horseman turned upon me; I would come to a tree and hid myself sitting at its base. Then I would shoot at him and hamstring his horse. At last they entered a narrow mountain gorge. I ascended that mountain and held them at bay throwing stones at them. I continued to chase them in this way until I got all the camels of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ released and no camel was left with them. They left me; then I followed them shooting at them continually until they dropped more than thirty mantles and thirty lances. lightening their burden. On everything they dropped; I put a mark with the help of a piece of stone so that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Companions might recognise them that it was booty left by the enemy. They went on until They came to a narrow valley when so and so; son of Badr AlFazari joined them. They now sat down to take their breakfast and I sat on the top of a tapering rock. AlFazari said: Who is that fellow I am seeing? They said: This fellow has harassed us. By God; he has not left us since dusk and has been continually shooting at us until he has snatched everything from our hands. He said: Four of you should make a dash at him and kill him. Accordingly ; four of them ascended the mountain coming towards me. When it became possible for me to talk to them; I said: Do you recognise me? They said: No. Who are thou? I said: I am Salama; son of AlAkwa. By the Being Who has honoured the countenance of Muhammad ﷺ I can kill any of you I like but none of you will be able to kill me. One of them said: I think he is right. So they returned. I did not move from my place until I saw the horsemen of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; who came riding through the trees. Lo! the foremost among them was Akhram AlAsadi. Behind him was Abu Qatada AlAnsari and behind him was AlMiqdad Bin AlAswad AlKindi. I caught hold of the rein of Akhram horse Seeing this. they the raiders fled. I said to Akhram : Akhram; guard yourself against them until Allah Messenger ﷺ and his Companions join you. He said: Salama; if you believe In Allah and the Day of Judgment and if you kaow that Paradise is a reality and Hell is a reality; you should not stand between me and martyrdom. so I let him go. Akhram and Abdulrahman Fazari met in combat. Akhram hamstrung Abdulrahman horse and the latter struck him with his lance and killed him. Abd AlRabman turned about riding Akhram horse. Abu Qatada; a horse-man of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; met Abdulrahman in combat ; smote him with his lance and killed him. By the Being Who honoured the countenance of Muhammad may peace oe upon him ; I followed them running on my feet so fast that I couldnt see behind me the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ ; nor any dust raised by their horses. I followed them until before sunset they reached a valley which had a spring of water; which was called Dhu Qarad; so that they could have a drink; for they were thirsty. They saw me running towards them. I turned them out of the valley before they could drink a drop of its water. They left the valley and ran down a slope. I ran behind them ; overtook a man from them; shot him with an arrow through the shoulder blade and said: Take this. I am the son of AlAkwa; and today is the day of annihilation for the people who are mean. The fellow who was wounded said: May his mother weep over him! Are you the Akwa who has been chasing us since morning? I said: Yes; O enemy of thyself; the same Akwa. They left two horses dead tired on the hillock and I came dragging them along to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I met Amir who had with him a container having milk diluted with water and a container having water. I performed ablution with the water and drank the milk. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was at the spring of water from which I had driven them away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had captured those camels and everything else I had captured and all the lances and mantles I had snatched from the polytheists and Bilal had slaughtered a camel from the camels I had seized from the people; and was roasting its liver and hump for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: Messenger of Allah; let me select from our people one hundred men and I will follow the marauders and I will finish them all so that nobody is left to convey the news of their destruction to their people. At these words of mine ; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed so much that his molar teeth could be seen in the light of the fire; and he said: Salama; do you think you can do this? I said: Yes; by the Being Who has honoured you. He said: Now they have reached the land of Ghatafan where they are being feted. At this time a man from the Ghatafan came along and said: So and so slaughtered a camel for them. When they were exposing its skin; they saw dust being raised far off. They said: They Akwa and his companions have come. So. they went away fleeing. When it was morning; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Our best horseman today is Abu Qatada and our best footman today is Salama. Then he gave me two shares of the booty-the share meant for the horseman and the share meant for the footman; and combined both of them for me. Intending to return to Medina; he made me mount behind him on his camel named AlAdba. While we were travelling; a man from the Ansar who could not be beaten in a race said: Is there anyone who could compete with me in race to Medina? Is there any competitor? He continued repeating this. When I heard his talk; I said: Dont you show consideration to a dignified person and dont you have awe for a noble man? He said: No; unless he be the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: Messenger of Allah; may my father and mother be thy ransom; let me get down so that I may beat this man in the race. He said: It you wish; you may. I said to the man : I am coming to thee; I then turned my feet. sprang up and tan and gasped for a while when one or two elevated places were left and again followed his heel and again gasped for a while when one or two elevated places were left and again dashed until I joined him and gave a blow between his shoulders. I said: You have been overtaken; by God. He said: I think so. Thus; I reached Medina ahead of him. By God; we had stayed there only three nights when we set out to Khaibar with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. On the way my uncle; Amir; began to recite the following rajaz verses for the people: By God; if Thou hadst not guided us aright; We would have neither practised charity nor offered prayers. O God! We cannot do without Thy favours; Keep us steadfast when we encounter the enemy; And descend tranquillity upon us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Who is this? Amir said: it is Amir. He said: May thy God forgive thee! The narrator said: Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked forgiveness for a particular person; he was sure to embrace martyrdom. Umar Bin AlKhattab who was riding on his camel called out: Prophet of Allah; I wish you had allowed us to benefit from Amir. Salama continued: When we reached Khaibar; its king named Marhab advanced brandishing his sword and chanting: Khaibar knows that I am Marhab who behaves like A fully armed; and well-tried warrior. When the war comes spreading its flames. My uncle; Amir; came out to combat with him; saying: Khaibar certainly knows that I am Amir; A fully armed veteran who plunges into battles. They exchanged blows. Marbab sword struck the shield of Amir who bent forward to attack his opponent from below; but his sword recoiled upon him and cut the main artery: in his forearm which caused his death. Salama said: I came out and heard some people among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ saying: Amir deed has been wasted; he has killed himself. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ weeping and I said: Messenger of Allah. Amir deed has been wasted. The Messenger ﷺ said: Who passed this remark? I said: Some of your Companions. He said: He who has passed that remark has told a lie; for Amir there is a double reward. Then he sent me to Ali who had sore eyes; and said: I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger or whom Allah and His Messenger love. So I went to Ali; brought him beading him along and he had sore eyes; and I took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; who applied his saliva to his eyes and he got well. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him the banner and Ali went to meet Marhab in a single combat. The latter advanced chanting: Khaibar knows certainly that I am Marhab; A fully armed and well-tried valorous warrior hero When war comes spreading its flames. Ali chanted in reply: I am the one whose mother named him Haidar; And am like a lion of the forest with a terror-striking countenance. I give my opponents the measure of sandara in exchange for sa i. e. return thir attack with one that is much more fierce. The narrator said: Ali struck at the head of Mirhab and killed him; so the victory capture of Khaibar was due to him. This long tradition has also been handed down Through a different chain of transmitters. The Chapter on Horses And Polytheism in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 45 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18428It is narrated either on the authority of Abu Huraira or that of Abu Saeed Khudri. The narrator Amash has narrated this hadith with a little bit of doubt about the name of the very first narrator who was in direct contact with the Holy Prophet. He was either Abu Huraira or Abu Saeed Khudri. Both are equally reliable transmitters of the traditions. He the narrator said: During the time of Tabuk expedition; the provisions ran short and the men of the army suffered starvation; they said: Messenger of Allah; would you permit us to slay our camels? We would eat them and use their fat. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do as you please. He the narrator said: Then Umar came there and said: Messenger of Allah; if you do that if you give your consent and the men begin to slay their camels ; the riding animals would become short. But I would suggest you to summon them along with the provisions left with them Then invoke Allah blessings on them different items of the provisions It is hoped Allah shall bless them. The Messenger of Allah replied in the affirmative. the narrator said: He called for a leather mat to be used as a table cloth and spread it out. Then he called people along with the remaining portions of their provisions. He the narrator said: Someone was coming with handful of mote; another was coming with a handful of dates; still another was coming with a portion of bread; till small quantities of these things were collected on the table cloth. He the narrator said : Then the messenger of Allah invoked blessing on them and said: Fill your utensils with these provisions. He the narrator said: They filled their vessel to the brim with them; and no one amongst the army which comprised of 30;000 persons was left even with a single empty vessel. He the narrator aid: They ate to their fill; and there was still a surplus. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked: I bear testimony that there is no god but Allah and I am the messenger of Allah. The man who meets his Lord without harboring any doubt about these two truths would never be kept away from Paradise. The Chapter on Pulpit And Khutba And Preaching Charity in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 10 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18704Anas Bin Malik reported: Abu Dharr used to relate that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The roof of my house was cleft when I was in Mecca and Gabriel descended and opened my heart and then washed it with the water of Zamzam. He then brought a gold basin full of wisdom and faith and after emptying it into my breast; he closed it up. Then taking me by he hand; he ascended with me to th heaven; and when we came to the lowest heaven; Gabriel said to the guardian of the lowest heaven: Open. He asked who was there? He replied. It is Gabriel. He again asked whe he there was someone with him. He replied: Yes; it is Muhammad with me. He was asked if he had been sent for; He Gabriel said: Yes. Then he opened the gate. When we ascended the lowest heaven I saw a man seated with parties on his right side and parties on his left side. When he looked up to his right; he laughed and when he looked to his left; he wept. He said: Welcome to the righteous apostle and the righteous son. I asked Gabriel who he was and he replied: He is Adam ﷺ and these parties on his right and on his left are the souls of his descendants. Those of them on his right are the inmates of Paradise and the parties which are on his left side are the inmates of Hell; so when he looked towards his right side; he laughed; and when he looked towards his left side; he wept. Then Gabriel ascended with me to the second heaven. He asked its guardian to open its gate ; and its guardian replied in the same way as the guardian of the lowest heaven had said. He opened it. Anas Bin Malik said: He the Holy Prophet mentioned that he found in the heavens Adam; Idris; Jesus; Moses and Abraham may peace be on all of them ; but he did not ascertain as to the nature of their abodes except that he had found Adam in the lowest heaven and Abraham in the sixth heaven. When Gabriel and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by Idris ﷺ he said: Welcome to the righteous apostle and righteous brother. He the narrator said: He then proceeded and said: Who is he? Gabriel replied: It is Idris. Then I passed by Moses ﷺ and he said: Welcome tothe righteous apostle and righteous brother. I said to Gabriel : Who is he? He replied: It is Moses. Then I passed by Jesus and he said: Welcome to the righteous apostle and righteous brother. I said to Gabriel : Who is he? He replied: Jesus; son of Mary. He the Holy Prophet said: Then I went to Ibrahim ﷺ. He said: Welcome to the righteous apostle and righteous son. I asked: Who is he? He Gabriel replied: It is Abraham. Ibn Shihab said: Ibn Hazm told me that Ibn Abbas and Abd Habba AlAnsari used to say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Thereafter he ascended with me till I was taken to such a height where I heard the scraping of the pens. Ibn Hazm and Anas told that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah then made fifty prayers obligatory for my Ummah and I returned with that and passed by Moses. Moses; ﷺ said: What has thy Lord enjoined on thy people? I said: Fifty prayers have been made obligatory on them. Moses ﷺ said: Return to thy Lord; for thy Ummah would not be able to bear this burden. Then I came back to my Lord and He remitted a portion out of thut. I then again went to Moses ﷺ and informed him about it He said: Return to thy Lord; for thy Ummah shall not be able to bear this burden. I then went back to my Lord and He said: They are five and at the same time fifty; and what has been said will not be changed. I then returned to Moses and he said: Go back to thy Lord. whereupon I said: I feel ashamed of my Lord. Gabriel then travelled with me till we came to the farthest lote-tree Many a colour had covered it which I do not know. Then I was admitted to Paradise and saw in it domes of pearls; and its soil of musk. The Chapter on Heaven Gabriel Moses And Abraham in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 74 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18743Abu Saeed AlKhudri reported: Some people during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Messenger of Allah! shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Yes; and added: Do you feel any trouble in seeing the sun at noon with no cloud over it; and do you feel trouble in seeing the moon open in the full moonlit night with no cloud over it? They said: No; Messenger of Allah! He the Holy Prophet said: You will not feel any trouble in seeing Allah on the Day of Resurrection any more than you do in seeing any one of them. When the Day of Resurrection comes a Muadhdhin a proclaimer would proclaim: Let every people follow what they used to worship. Then all who worshipped idols and stones besides Allah would fall into the Fire; till only the righteous and the vicious and some of the people of the Book who worshipped Allah are left. Then the Jews would be summoned; and it would be said to them: What did you worship? They will say: We worshipped Uzair; son of Allah. It would be said to them: You tell a lie; Allah had never had a spouse or a son. What do you want now? They would say: We feel thirsty; O our Lord! Quench our thirst. They would be directed to a certain direction and asked: Why dont you go there to drink water? Then they would be pushed towards the Fire and they would find to their great dismay that it was but a mirage and the raging flames of fire would be consuming one another; and they would fall into the Fire. Then the Christians would be summoned and it would be said to them: What did you worship? They would say: We worshipped Jesus; son of Allah. It would be said to them: You tell a lie; Allah did not take for Himself either a spouse or a son. Then it would be said to them: What do you want? They would say: Thirsty we are; O our Lord! Quench our thirst. They would be directed to a certain direction and asked: Why dont you go there to get water? But they would be pushed and gathered together towards the Hell; which was like a mirage to them; and the flames would consume one another. They would fall Into the Fire; till no one is left except he who worshipped Allah; be he pious or sinful. The Lord of the Universe; Glorified and Exalted; would come to them in a form recognisable to them and say; What are you looking for? Every people follow that which they worshipped. They would say: Our Lord; we kept ourselves separate from the people in the world; though we felt great need of them; we; however; did not associate ourselves with them. He would say: I am your Lord. They would say: We take refuge with Allah from thee and do not associate anything with Allah. They would repeat it twice or thrice; till some of them would be about to return. It would be said: Is there any sign between you and Him by which you will recognise Him? They would say: Yes. and the things would be laid bare. Those who used to prostrate themselves before God of their own accord would be permitted by God to prostrate themselves. But there would remain none who used to prostrate out of fear of people and ostentation but Allah would make his back as one piece; and whenever he would attempt to prostrate he would fall on his back. Then they would raise their heads and He would assume the Form in which they had seen Him the first time and would say: I am your Lord. They would say: Thou art our Lord. Then the bridge would be set up over the Hell and intercession would be allowed and they will say: O God; keep safe; keep safe. It was asked: Messenger of Allah; what is this bridge? He said: The void in which one Is likely to slip. There would be hooks; tongs; spits like the thorn that is found in Najd and is known as Sadan. The believers would then pass over within the twinkling of an eye; like lightning; like wind; like a bird; like the finest horses and camels. Some will escape and be safe; some will be lacerated and let go; and some will be pushed into the fire of Hell till the believers will find rescue from the Fire. By One in Whose hand is my life; there will be none among you more eager to claim a right than the believers on the Day of Resurrection for saying their brethren in the Fire who would say: O our Lord; they were fasting along with us; and praying and performing pilgrimage. It will be said to them: Take out those whom you recognise. Then their persons would be forbidden to the Fire; and they would take out a large number of people who had been overtaken by Fire up to the middle of the shank or up to the knees. They would then say: O our Lord I not one of those about whom Thou didst give us command remains in it. He will then say: Go back and bring out those in whose hearts you find good of the weight of a dinar Then they will take out a large number of people. Then they would say: O our Lord! we have not left anyone about whom You commanded us. He will then say: Go back and bring out those in whose hearts you find as much as half a dinar of good. Then they will take out a large number of people; and would say: O our Lord! not one of those about whom Thou commanded us we have left in it. Then He would say: Go back and in whose heart you find good to the weight of a particle bring him out. They would bring out a large number of people; and would then say: O our Lord; now we have not left anyone in it Hell having any good in him. Abu Saeed Khudri said: If you dont testify me in this hadith; then recite if you like: Surely Allah wrongs not the weight of an atom; and if it is a good deed. He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward AlQuran; iv. 40. Then Allah; Exalted and Great; would say: The angels have interceded; the apostles have interceded and the believers have interceded; and no one remains to grant pardon but the Most Merciful of the mercifuls. He will then take a handful from Fire and bring out from it people who never did any good and who had been turned into charcoal; and will cast them into a river called the river of life; on the outskirts of Paradise. They will come out as a seed comes cut from the silt carried by flood. You see it near the stone or near the tree. That which is exposed to the sun is yellowish or greenish and which is under the shade is white. They said: Messenger of Allah! it seems as if you had been tending a flock in the jungle. He the Holy Prophet said: They will come forth like pearls with seals on their necks. The inhabitants of Paradise would recognise them and say : Those are who have been set free by the Compassionate One. Who has admitted them into Paradise without any good deed that they did or any good that they sent in advance Then He would say: Enter the Paradise; whatever you see in it is yours. They would say: O Lord; Thou hast bestowed upon us favours which Thou didst not bestow upon anyone else in the world. He would say: There is with Me a favour for you better than this. They would say: O our Lord! which thing is better than this? He would say: It is My pleasure. I will never be angry with you after thisThe Chapter on Worship To Save Oneself From Hell Fire in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 81 in Sahih Muslim

SahihMuslim-017-001-18893This hadith has been narrated through other chains of transmitters on the authority of Ibn Abbas; and the words are: While Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up to deliver a sermon; he said: 0 people; Allah would make you assemble barefooted; naked and uncircumcised and then recited the words of the Quran : As We created you for the first time; We shall repeat it. It is a promise binding upon us. Lo! We are to perform it; and the first person who would be clothed on the Day of Resurrection would be Hadrat Ibrahim ﷺ and; behold! some persons of my Ummah would be brought and taken to the left and I would say: My Lord; they are my companions; and it would be said: You do not know what they did after you; and I would say just as the pious servant Hadrat Isa said:; I was a witness regarding them as I remained among them and Thou art a witness over everything; so if Thou chastisest them; they are Thy servants and if Thou for- givest them; Thou art Mighty; Wise v. 117-118. SahihMuslim-017-001-19020Ubadah Bin Walid Bin Samit reported: I and my father set out in search of knowledge to a tribe of the Ansar before their death i. e. before the Companions of the Prophet left the world and I was the first to meet Abu Yasar; a Companion of Allah Messenger ﷺ and there was a young man with him who carried the record of letters with him and there was a mantle prepared by the tribe of Maafiri upon him. And his servant too had a Maafiri mantle over him. My father said to him: My uncle; I see the signs of anger or that of agony on your face. He said: Yes; such and such person; the son of so and so; of the tribe of Harami owed me a debt. I went to his family; extended salutations and said: Where is he? They said: He is not here. Then came out to me his son who was at the threshold of his youth. I said to him: Where is your father? He said: No sooner did he hear your sound than he hid himself behind my mother bedstead. I said to him: Walk out to me; for I know where you are. He came out. I said to him: What prompted you to hide yourself from me? He said: By God; whatever I would say to you would not be a lie. By Allah; I fear that I should tell a lie to you and in case of making promise with you I should break it; as you are the Companion of Allah Messenger ﷺ. The fact is that I was hard up in regard to money. I said: Do you adjure by Allah? He said: I adjure by Allah. I said: Do you adjure by Allah? He said: I adjure by Allah. I said: Do you adjure by Allah? He said: I adjure by Allah. Then he brought his promissory note and he wrote off the debt with his hand and said: Make payment when you find yourself solvent enough to pay me back; if you are not; then there is no liability upon you. These two eyes of mine saw; and he AbuI-Yasar placed his fingers upon his eyes and these two ears of mine heard and my heart retained; and he pointed towards his heart that Allah Messenger ﷺ said: He who gives time to one who is financially hard up in the payment of debt or writes off his debt; Allah will provide him His shadow. I said to him: My uncle; if you get the cloak of your servant and you give him your two clothes; or take his two clothes of Maafir and give him your cloak; then there would be one dress for you and one for him. He wiped my head and said: O Allah; bless the son of my brother. O; son of my brother; these two very eyes of mine saw and these two ears of mine listened to and this heart of mine retained this; and he pointed towards the heart that Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Feed them the servants and clothe them the servants what you wear; and if I give him the goods of the world; it is easy for me than this that he should take my virtues on the Day of Resurrection. We went on till we came to Jabir Bin Abdullah in the Masjid and he was busy in observing prayer in one cloth which he had joined at its opposite ends. I made my way through the people till I sat between him and the Qibla and I said: May Allah have mercy upon you. Do you observe prayer with one cloth on your body whereas your mantle is lying at your side? He pointed me with his hand towards my breast just like this and he separated his fingers and bent them in the shape of a bow. And he said : I thought that a fool like you should come to me so that he should see me as I do and he should then also do like it. Allah Messenger ﷺ came to us in this very Masjid and he had in his hand the twig of the palm-tree and he saw mucus towards the Qibla of the Masjid and he erased it with the help of the twig. He then came to us and said: Who amongst you likes that Allah should turn His face away from him? We were afraid. He then again said: Who amongst you likes that Allah should turn His face away from him? We were afraid. He again said: Who amongst you likes that Allah should turn His face away from him? We said: Allah Messenger; none of us likes it. And he said: If one amongst you stands for prayer; Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; is before him he should not spit in front of him; or on his right side; but should spit on his left side beneath his left foot and if he is impelled to do so all of a sudden in spite of himself he should then spit in his cloth and fold it in some part of it. and he further said: Bring some sweet-smelling thing. A young man who belonged to our tribe stood up; went and brought scent in his palm. Allah Messenger ﷺ took that and applied it to the end of that twig and then touched the place where there had been mucus. Jabir said: This is why you should apply scent to your Masjids. It is reported on the same authority: We set out along with Allah Messenger ﷺ on an expedition of Batn Buwat. He the Holy Prophet was in search of AlMajdi Bin Amr AlJuhani. We had so meagre equipment that five. six or seven of us had one camel to ride and so we mounted it turn by turn. Once there wan. the turn of an Ansari to ride upon the camel. He made it kneel down to ride over it and after having. mounted it ; he tried to raise it up but it hesitated. So he said. May there be curse of Allah upon you! Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Who is there to curse his camel? He said: Allah Messenger; it is I. Thereupon he said: Get down from the camel and let us not have in our company the cursed one. Dont curse your own selves; nor your children. nor your belongings. There is the possibility that your curse may synchronies with the time when Allah is about to confer upon you what you demand and thus your prayer may be readily responded. It is reported on the same authority: We set out on an expedition along with Allah Messenger ﷺ until it was evening; and we had been near a. water reservoir of Arabia. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Who would be the person who would go ahead and set right the reservoir and drink water himself and serve us with it? Jabir said: I stood up and said: Allah Messenger; it is I who am ready to do that. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Who is the person to accompany Jabir? And then Jabbar Bin Sakhr stood up. So we went to that well and poured in that tank a bucket or two of water and plastered it with clay and then began to fill it with water until it was filled to the brim. Allah Messenger ﷺ was the first who appeared before us; and he said: Do you both permit me to drink water out of it? We said: Yea; Allah Messenger. He led his camel to drink water and it drank. He then pulled its rein and it stretched its legs and began to urinate. He then took it Aasi de and made it kneel down at another place and then came to the tank and performed ablution. I then got up and performed ablution like the ablution of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and Jabbar Bin Sakhr went in order to relieve himself and Allah Messenger ﷺ got up to observe prayer and there was a mantle over me. I tried to invert its ends but it was too short to cover my body easily. It had its borders. I then inverted it the mantle and drew its opposite ends and then tied them at my neck. I then came and stood upon the left side of Allah Messenger ﷺ. He caught hold of me and made me go round behind him; until he made me stand on his right side. Then Jabbar Bin Sakhr came. He performed ablution and then came and stood on the left side of Allah Messenger ﷺ. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ caught hold of our hands together; pushed us back and made us stand behind him. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ began to look upon me with darting looks; but I did not perceive that. After that I became aware of it and he pointed with the gesture of his hand that I should wrap my loin-cloth. When Allah Messenger ﷺ had finished the prayer; he said: Jabir! I said: Allah Messenger; at thy beck and call. He said: When the cloth around you is inadequate; then tie the opposite ends but when it is small; tie it over the lower body. Jabir reported: We set out on an expedition with Allah Messenger ﷺ and the only means of sustenance for every person amongst us was only one date for a day and we used to chew it. And we struck the leaves with the help of our bow and ate them until the sides of our mouths were injured. It so happened one day that a person was overlooked and not given a date. We carried that person and bore witness to the fact that he had not been given that date so he was offered that and he got up and received that. Jabir reported: We set out on an expedition along with Allah Messenger ﷺ until we got down at a spacious valley and Allah Messenger ﷺ went to relieve himself. I followed him with a bucket full of water and Allah Messenger ﷺ looked about and he found no privacy but two trees at the end of the valley and Allah Messenger may. ﷺ went to one of them and took hold of one of its twigs and said: Be thou under my control by the permission of Allah; and so it came under his control like the camel who has its nosestring in the hand of its rider; and then he came to the second tree and took hold of a twig and said: Be thou under my control with the permission of Allah; and it came under his control; and when he came in the middle of the two trees he joined together the two twigs and said: join with the permission of Allah. Jabir said: I was afraid lest Allah Messenger ﷺ should be aware of my nearness and go still farther. And Muhammad Bin Abbad has used the word faitabd and I began to talk to myself. And as I saw; I suddenly found Allah Messenger ﷺ before me and the two trees were separated and each one of them was standing at its place. I saw Allah Messenger ﷺ standing for a short time; nodding his head towards right and left. Ismail pointed towards the right and left with the help of his head in order to demonstrate how the Prophet had pointed. Then he the Holy Prophet came to me and said: Jabir did you see my place where I was standing? I said: Allah Messenger; yes. He then said: Then you should go to those two trees and cut a twig from each of them and go to that place with them where I was standing and stand there where I was standing and place a twig on the right and a twig on the left. Jabir said: I set out and took hold of a stone and broke it and sharpened it and then I came to those trees and cut a twig from each one of them. I then came dragging them until I stood at the place where Allah Messenger ﷺ had been standing and placed a twig on the right and a twig on the left. Then I met him and said: Allah Messenger; I have done that; but kindly explain to me the reason for it. Thereupon he said: I passed by two graves the occupants of which had been undergoing torment. I liked to make intercession for them so that the might be relieved of this torment y as long as these twigs remain fresh. Jabir said: We came back to the camp of the army and Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Jabir; call people for per- forming Ablution. I cried: Come and perform Ablution; come and perform Ablution; come and perform Ablution. I said: Allah Messenger; there is not even a drop of water in the army camp; and there. was a person who used to cool the water for Allah Messenger ﷺ in the old water-skin which kept hanging by the twig. He asked me to go to such and such Ansari and ask him to see if there was any water in that skin. I went to him and cast a glance in it but did not find anything but a drop in the mouth of that water-skin and if I were to draw that; the water-skins;. dried part would suck it up. I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger; I have not found anything in it but a drop of water in the mouth of the water-skin and now if I were to draw that; it would be absorbed. He said: Go and bring that to me. I brought that to him. He took hold of it -and began to utter something which I could not understand and then pressed it with his hand and gave that to me and said: Jabir; announce for the tub to be brought. So I announced that the tub of the army be brought. It was brought accordingly and I placed it before him the Holy Prophet. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ placed his hands in the tub like this: with his fingers stretched out; and then he placed his fingers at the bottom of the tub and said: Jabir; take it that waters-skin and pour water over me; by reciting Bismillah; and I poured water and I said: Bismillah; and found water sprouting out between the fingers of Allah Messenger ﷺ. Then that tub gushed forth until it was filled up and the Messenger ﷺ said: Jabir; make an announcement to the effect: He who needs water should take that. Jabir said: The people came and got water until they were all satiated. I said: Is there anyone left who wants to get it? And Allah Messenger ﷺ then lifted up his hand from that tub and it was still full. Then the people made a complaint to Allah Messenger ﷺ about hunger and he said: May Allah provide you food! We came to the bank of the ocean and the ocean was tossing and it threw out a big animal and we lit fire and cooked it and took it until we had eaten to our heart content. Jabir said: I and such and such five persons entered Its socket and nobody could see us until we had come out; and we took hold of one of its ribs and twisted it into a sort of arch; then we called the tallest of the persons of the army and the hugest of the camels of the army and it had the big saddle over it; and it could easily pass through it without the rider having need to bend down. The Chapter on Standing For Prayers And Ablution in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 18 in Sahih Muslim

And we encamped at a place and the people dispersed and I and he were left behind. I felt terribly frightend from him as it was said about him that he was the Dajjal. He brought his goods and placed them by my luggage and I said: It is intense heat. Would you not place that under that tree? And he did that. Then there appeared before us a flock of sheep. He went and brought a cup of milk and said: Abu Said; drink that. I said it is intense heat and the milk is also hot whereas the fact was that I did not like to drink from his hands or to take it from his hand and he said: Abu Said; I think that I should take a rope and suspend it by the tree and then commit suicide because of the talks of the people; and he further said. Abu Saeed he who is ignorant of the saying of Allah Messenger ﷺ he is to be pardoned ; but O people of Ansar; is this hadith of Allah Messenger ﷺ concealed from you whereas you have the best knowledge of the hadith of Allah Messenger ﷺ amongst people? Did Allah Messenger ﷺ not say that he Dajjal would be a non believer whereas I am a believer? Did Allah Messenger ﷺ not say he would be barren and no child would be born to him; whereas I have left my children in Medina? Did Allah Messenger may peace upon him not say: He would not get into Medina and Mecca whereas I have been coming from Medina and now I intend to go to Mecca? Abu Saeed said: I was about to accept the excuse put forward by him. Then he said: I know the place where he would be born and where he is now. So I said to him: May your whole day be spent. The Chapter on Thirst in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 19 in Sahih Muslim

He came back in the forenoon and she was still sitting there. He the Holy Prophet said to her: You have been in the same seat since I left you. She said: Yes. Thereupon Allah Apostle ﷺ said: I recited four words three times after I left you and if these are to be weighed against what you have recited since morning these would outweigh them and these words are: Hallowed be Allah and praise is due to Him according to the number of His creation and according to the pleasure of His Self and according to the weight of His Throne and according to the ink used in recording words for His Praise. The Chapter on Recitations And Poetry And Praise in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 19 in Sahih Muslim

He welcomed her by saying: You are welcome; my daughter; and made her sit on his right side or on his left side; and then talked something secretly to her and Fatima wept. Then he talked something secretly to her and she laughed. I said to her: What makes you weep? She said: I am not going to divulge the secret of Allah Messenger ﷺ. I Aisha said: I have not seen anything happening like today; the happiness being more close to grief as I see today when she wept. I said to her: Has Allah Messenger ﷺ singled you out for saying something leaving us Aasi de? She then wept and I asked her what he said; and she said: I am not going to divulge the secrets of Allah Messenger ﷺ. And when he died I again asked her and she said that he the Holy Prophet told her: Gabriel used to recite the Quran to me once a year and for this year it was twice and so I perceived that my death had drawn near; and that I Fatima would be the first amongst the members of his family who would meet him in the Hereafter. SahihMuslim-017-001-20792Kharasha Bin Hurr reported: I was sitting in a circle in the Masjid of Medina and there was an old man; quite handsome. He was Abdullah Bin Salim. He was telling good things to them to the people sitting in that company. As he stood up to depart the people said: He who is desirous of looking at a person from amongst the people of Paradise should see him. I said: By Allah; I will follow him; and would try to know his residence. So I followed him and he walked on until he reached the outskirts of Medina. He then entered his house. I sought permission from him to get in; and he granted me the permission; saying: My nephew; what is the need that has brought you here ? I said to him: As you stood up; I heard people say about you: He who is desirous of seeing a person from among the people of Paradise should look at him. So I became desirous of accompanying you. He Abdullah Bin Salim said: It is Allah Who knows best about the people of Paradise. I would; however; narrate to you as to why they said like it. The story is that while I was asleep one night there came to me a person in the dream who asked me to stand up. So I stood up and he caught hold of my hand and I walked along with him; and; lo; I found some paths on my left and I was about to set out upon them. Thereupon he said to me Do not set yourself on them for these are the paths of the leftists denizens of Hell-fire. Then there were paths leading to the right side; whereupon he said: Set yourself on these paths. We came across a hill and he said to me: Climb up; and I attempted to climb up that I fell upon my buttocks. I made several attempts but failed to succeed. He led until he came to a pillar so high that its upper end touched the sky and its base was in the earth. And there was a handhold at its upper end. He said to me Climb over it. I said: How can I climb upon it; as its upper end touches the sky? He cought hold of my hand and pushed me up and I found myself suspended with the handhold. He then struck the pillar and it fell down; but I remained attached to that handhold until it was morning and the dream was thus over. I came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and narrated it to him. He said: So far as the paths which you saw on your left are concerned; these are paths of the leftists denizens of Hell and the paths which you saw on your right; these are the paths of the rightists the dwellers of Paradise and the mountain represents the destination of the martyrs which you would not be able to attain. The pillar implies the pillar of Islam. and so far as the handhold is concerned; it implies the handhold of Islam; and you would hold to it fastly until you would meet death. The Chapter on Almadinah And Islam in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 33 in Sahih Muslim

I had only just laid down when he came in and said: O Aisha; why are you out of breath? She said: No. He said: Either you tell me or Allah; the All-Aware; All-Knowing; will tell me. I said: O Messenger of Allah; may my father and mother be sacrificed for you; and I told him the story. He said: You were the black shape I saw in front of me? I said: Yes. She said: He gave me a shove in the chest that hurt me and said: You thought that Allah and His Messenger would be unfair to you. She said: Whatever people conceal; Allah knows it. He said: Yes. He said: Jibril came to me when you saw me leave but he did not enter upon you because you have taken off your garments. So he called me but he concealed himself from you; and I answered him; but I concealed it from you. I thought that you had gone to sleep and I did not want to wake you; and I was afraid that you would feel lonely. He told me to go to AlBaqi and pray for forgiveness for them. Take me to You with nothing missed out and without having neglected anything. Then he went to Madina and addressed the people. He said; People! Sunan have been laid down for you. Obligations have been placed upon you. You have been left with a clear way unless you lead people astray right and left. MuwataMalik-017-001-34805Malik spoke about a mudabbar who said to his master; Free me immediately and I will give fifty dinars which I will have to pay in instalments. His master said; Yes. You are free and you must pay fifty dinars; and you will pay me ten dinars every year. The slave was satisfied with this. Then the master dies one; two or three days after that. He said; The freeing is confirmed and the fifty dinars become a debt against him. His testimony is permitted; his inviolability as a free man is confirmed; as are his inheritance and his liability to the full hudud punishments. The death of his master; however; does not reduce the debt for him at all. Malik said that if a man who made his slave a mudabbar died and he had some property at hand and some absent property; and in the property at hand there was not enough in the third he was allowed to bequeath to cover the value of the mudabbar; the mudabbar was kept there together with this property; and his tax kharaj was gathered until the master absent property was clear. Then if a third of what his master left would cover his value; he was freed with his property and what had gathered of his tax. If there was not enough to cover his value in what his master had left; as much of him was freed as the third would allow; and his property was left in his hands. The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Speech in Muwata Malik

One of the two with the same mother died and left property and mawali. His full brother inherited his property and the wala of his mawali. His brother said; It is not like that. You obtain the property. As for the wala of the mawali; it is not so. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; No. I said; Half? He said; No. Then the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; A third; and a third is a lot. Leaving your heirs rich is better than leaving them poor to beg from people. You never spend anything on maintenance desiring the Face of Allah by it; but that you are rewarded for it; even what you appoint for your wife. Sad said; Messenger of Allah; will I be left here in Makka after my companions have departed for Madina? The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; If you are left behind; and do sound deeds you will increase your degree and elevation by them. Perhaps you will be left behind so that some people may benefit by you and others may be harmed by you. O Allah! complete their hijra for my companions; and do not turn them back on their heels. The unfortunate one is Said Ibn Khawla. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was distressed on his account for he had died at Makka. Yahya said that he heard Malik speak about a man who willed a third of his property to a man and said as well; My slave will serve so-and-so another man for as long as he lives; then he is free; then that was looked into; and the slave was found to be a third of the property of the deceased. Malik said; The service of the slave is evaluated. Then the two of them divide it between them. The one who was willed a third takes his third; as a share; and the one who was willed the service of the slave takes what was evaluated for him of the slave service. Each of them takes; from the service of the slave or from his wage if he has a wage; according to his share. If the one who was given the service of the slave for as long as he lived dies; then the slave is freed. Yahya said that he heard Malik speak about someone who willed his third and said So-and-so has such- and-such; and so-and-so has such-and-such; naming some of his property; and his heirs protested that it was more than a third. Malik said; The heirs then have an option between giving the beneficiaries their full bequests and taking the rest of the property of the deceased; or between dividing among the beneficiaries the third of the property of the deceased and surrendering to them their third. If they wish; their rights in it reach as far as they reach. The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hair in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34977Malik related to me that he heard that Urwa Ibn AlZubair and Sulayman Ibn Yasar when asked whether the sons of a man; who had a kitaba written for himself and his children and then died; worked for the kitaba of their father or were slaves; said; They work for the kitaba of their father and they have no reduction at all for the death of their father. Malik said; If they are small and unable to work; one does not wait for them to grow up and they are slaves of their father master unless the mukatab has left what will pay their instalments for them until they can work. If there is enough to pay for them in what he has left; that is paid for on their behalf and they are left in their condition until they can work; and then if they pay; they are free. If they cannot do it; they are slaves. Malik spoke about a mukatab who died and left property which was not enough to pay his kitaba; and he also left a child with him in his kitaba and an umm walad; and the umm walad wanted to work for them. He said; The money is paid to her if she is trustworthy with it and strong enough to work. If she is not strong enough to work and not trustworthy with property; she is not given any of it and she and the children of the mukatab revert to being slaves of the master of the mukatab. Malik said; If people are written together in one kitaba and there is no kinship between them; and some of them are incapable and others work until they are all set free; those who worked can claim from those who were unable; the portion of what they paid for them because some of them assumed the responsibility for others. The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34979Malik related to me that he had heard that Said Ibn AlMusayab was asked about a mukatab who was shared between two men. One of them freed his portion and then the mukatab died and left a lot of money. Said replied; The one who kept his kitaba is paid what remains due to him; and then they divide what is left between them both equally. Malik said; When a mukatab who fulfils his kitaba and becomes free dies; he is inherited from by the people who wrote his kitaba and their children and paternal relations - whoever is most deserving. He said; This is also for whoever is set free when he dies after being set free - his inheritance is for the nearest people to him of children or paternal relations who inherit by means of the wala. Malik said; Brothers; written together in the same kitaba; are in the same position as children to each other when none of them have children written in the kitaba or born in the kitaba. When one of them dies and leaves property; he pays for them all that is against them of their kitaba and sets them free. The money left over after that goes to his children rather than his brothers. The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34983Malik said about a man who had his slave in a kitaba and then the mukatab died and left his umm walad; and there remained for him some of his kitaba to pay and he left what would pay it; The umm walad is a slave since the mukatab was not freed until he died and he did not leave children that were set free by his paying what remained; so that the umm walad of their father was freed by their being set free. Malik said about a mukatab who set free a slave of his or gave sadaqa with some of his property and his master did not know that until he had set the mukatab free; That has been performed by him and the master does not rescind it. If the master of the mukatab knows before he sets the mukatab free; he can reject that and not permit it. If the mukatab is then freed and it becomes in his power to do so; he does not have to free the slave; nor give the sadaqa unless he does it voluntarily from himself. The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35107Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that AlQasim Ibn Muhammad was asked about a man who bought goods for 10 dinars cash or fifteen dinars on credit. He disapproved of that and forbade it. Malik said that if a man bought goods from a man for either 10 dinars or 15 dinars on credit; that one of the two prices was obliged on the buyer. It was not to be done because if he postponed paying the ten; it would be 15 on credit; and if he paid the ten; he would buy with it what was worth fifteen dinars on credit. Malik said that it was disapproved of for a man to buy goods from someone for either a dinar cash or for a described sheep on credit and that one of the two prices was obliged on him. It was not to be done because the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; forbade two sales in one sale. This was part of two sales in the one sale. Malik spoke about a man saying to another; I will either buy these fifteen sa of ajwa dates from you; or these ten sa of sayhani dates or I will buy these fifteen sa of inferior wheat or these ten sa of Syrian wheat for a dinar; and one of them is obliged to me. Malik said that it was disapproved of and was not halal. That was because he obliged him ten sa of sayhani; and left them and took fifteen sa of ajwa; or he was obliged fifteen sa of inferior wheat and left them and took ten sa of Syrian wheat. This was also disapproved of; and was not halal. It resembled what was prohibited in the way of two sales in one sale. It was also included under the prohibition against buying two for one of the same sort of food. The Chapter on Forbidden Financial Transaction in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Blood Money in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35135Yahya related to me from Malik; The generally agreed upon way of doing things among us and what I have seen the people of knowledge doing in our city about the fixed shares of inheritance of children from the mother or father when one or other of them dies is that if they leave male and female children; the male takes the portion of two females. If there are only females; and there are more than two; they get two thirds of what is left between them. If there is only one; she gets a half. If someone shares with the children; who has a fixed share and there are males among them; the reckoner begins with the ones with fixed shares. What remains after that is divided among the children according to their inheritance. When there are no children; grandchildren through sons have the same position as children; so that grandsons are like sons and grand-daughters are like daughters. They inherit as they inherit and they overshadow as they overshadow. If there are both children and grandchildren through sons; and there is a male among the children; then the grandchildren through sons do not share in the inheritance with him. If there is no surviving male among the children; and there are two or more daughters; the granddaughters through a son do not share in the inheritance with them unless there is a male who is in the same position as them in relation to the deceased; or further than them. His presence gives access to whatever is left over; if any; to whoever is in his position and whoever is above him of the granddaughters through sons. If something is left over; they divide it among them; and the male takes the portion of two females. If nothing is left over; they have nothing. If the only descendant is a daughter; she takes half; and if there are one or more grand-daughters through a son who are in the same position to the deceased; they share a sixth. If there is a male in the same position as the granddaughters through a son in relation to the deceased; they have no share and no sixth. If there is a surplus after the allotting of shares to the people with fixed shares; the surplus goes to the male and whoever is in his position and whoever is above him of the female descendants through sons. The male has the share of two females. The one who is more distant in relationship than grandchildren through sons has nothing. If there is no surplus; they have nothing. That is because Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; said in His Book; Allah charges you about your children that the male has the like of the portion of two females. If there are more than two women they have two thirds of what is left. If there is one; she has a half. Surat 4 ayat 10The Chapter on Inheritance And Shares in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Blood Money in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35139Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things among us is that full siblings do not inherit anything with sons nor anything with grandsons through a son; nor anything with the father. They do inherit with the daughters and the granddaughters through a son when the deceased does not leave a paternal grandfather. Any property that is left over; they are in it as paternal relations. One begins with the people who are allotted fixed shares. They are given their shares. If there is anything left over after that; it belongs to the full siblings. They divide it between themselves according to the Book of Allah; whether they are male or female. The male has a portion of two females. If there is nothing left over; they have nothing. If the deceased does not leave a father or a paternal grandfather or children or male or female grandchildren through a son; a single full sister gets a half. If there are two or more full sisters; they get two thirds. If there is a brother with them; sisters; whether one or more; do not have a fixed share. One begins with whoever shares in the fixed shares. They are given their shares. Whatever remains after that goes to the full siblings. The male has the portion of two females except in one case; in which the full siblings have nothing. They share in this case the third of the half-siblings by the mother. That case is when a woman dies and leaves a husband; a mother; half- siblings by her mother; and full siblings. The husband has a half. The mother has one sixth. The half-siblings by the mother have a third. Nothing is left after that; so the full siblings share in this case with the half-siblings by the mother in their third. The male has the portion of two females in as much as all of them are siblings of the deceased by the mother. They inherit by the mother. That is because Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; said in His Book; If a man or a woman has no direct heir and he has a brother or a sister; each one of the two gets a sixth. If there are more than that; they share equally in the third. Surat 4 ayat 12. They therefore share in this case because all of them are siblings of the deceased by the mother. The Chapter on Inheritance And Shares in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hudud in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35140Malik said; The generally agreed on wayof doing things among us is that when there are no full siblings with them; half-siblings by the father take the position of full siblings. Their males are like the males of the full siblings; and their females are like their females except in the case where the half-siblings by the mother and the full siblings share; because they are not offspring of the mother who joins these. Malik said; If there are both full siblings and half-siblings by the father and there is a male among the full siblings none of the half-siblings by the father have any inheritance. If there is one or more females in the full siblings and there is no male with them; the one full sister gets a half; and the half sister by the father gets a sixth; completing the two-thirds. If there is a male with the half-sisters by the father; they have no share. The people of fixed shares are given their shares and if there is something left after that it is divided between the half-siblings by the father. The male has the portion of two females. If there is nothing left over; they get nothing. If the full siblings consist of two or more females; they get two-thirds; and the half-sisters by the father get nothing with them unless there is a half-brother by the father with them. If there is a half-brother by the father with them; the people of fixed shares are given their shares and if there is something left over after that; it is divided between the half- siblings by the father. The male gets the portion of two females. If there is nothing left over; they get nothing. Half-siblings by the mother; full-siblings; and half-siblings by the father; each have a sixth when they are onlyone. Two and more share a third. The male has the same portion as the female. They are in the same position in it.The Chapter on Inheritance And Shares in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hudud in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35280Yahya related to me from Malik from Said Ibn Ishaq Ibn Kaab Ibn Ujra from his paternal aunt; Zaynab bint Kaab Ibn Ujra that AlFuraya bint Malik Ibn Sinan; the sister of Abu Said AlKhudri; informed her that she went to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and asked to be able to return to her people among the Banu Khudra since her husband had gone out in search of some of his slaves who had run away and he had caught up with them near AlQudum; which is 6 miles from Madina ; and they had killed him. She said; I asked the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; if I could return to my people in the Banu Khudra; as my husband had not left me in a dwelling which belonged to him; and had left me no maintenance. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said;Yes. So I left. When I was in the courtyard; the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; called me or summoned me; and I answered him. He said; What did you say? I repeated the story about my husband. He said; Stay in your house until what is written reaches its term. I did the idda in the house for four months and ten days. She added; When Uthman Ibn Affan sent for me; I told him that; and he followed it and made decisions by it.The Chapter on Marriage And Entitlements in HodHood Indexing, The Book of The Mukatab in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35469Malik was asked whether someone who went into a Masjid to do itikaf for the last ten days of Ramadan and stayed there for a day or two but then became ill and left the Masjid; had to do itikaf for the number of days that were left from the ten; or not; and if he did have to do so; then what month should he do it in; and he replied; He should make up whatever he has to do of the itikaf when he recovers; whether in Ramadan or otherwise. I have heard that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; once wanted to do itikaf in Ramadan; but then came back without having done so; and then when Ramadan had gone; he did itikaf for ten days in Shawal. Some one who does itikaf voluntarily in Ramadan and some one who has to do itikaf are in the same position regarding what is halal for them and what is haram. I have not heard that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; ever did itikaf other than voluntarily. Malik said; that if a woman did itikaf and then menstruated during her itikaf; she went back to her house; and; when she was pure again she returned to the Masjid; at whatever time it was that she became pure. She then continued her itikaf from where she left off. This was the same situation as with a woman who had to fast two consecutive months; and who menstruated and then became pure. She then continued the fast from where she had left off and did not delay doing so.The Chapter on Ramadan And Fasting And Deeds in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35522Yahya related to me; and I myself heard Malik say; The best that I have heard about some one who has to fast for two consecutive months because of having killed someone by mistake or having pronounced the dhihar form of divorce; becoming very ill and having to break his fast; is that if he recovers from his illness and is strong enough to fast; he must not delay doing so. He continues his fast from where he left off. Similarly; a woman who has to fast because of having killed some one by mistake should not delay resuming her fast when she has become pure after her period. She continues her fast from where she left off. No one who; by the Book of Allah; has to fast for two consecutive months may break his fast except for a reason - illness or menstruation. He must not travel and break his fast. Malik said; This is the best that I have heard about the matter. The Chapter on Menstruation And Fasting in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35859Yahya related to me from Malik from Abuz AlZubair AlMakki that Abu Maiz AlAslami Abdullah Ibn Sufyan told him that once; when he was sitting with Abdullah Ibn Umar; a woman came to ask him for an opinion. She said; I set out intending to do tawaf of the House; but then; when I got to the gate of the Masjid; I started bleeding; so I went back until it had left me. Then I set out again; and then; when I got to the gate of the Masjid; I started bleeding; so I went back until it had left me. Then I set off again; and then; when I got to the gate of the Masjid; I started bleeding. Abdullah Ibn Umar said; That is only an impulse from Shaytan.
