Abdulrahman said; Ali said; Allah Messenger ﷺ sent for me; AlZubair and Abu Marthad; and all of us were cavalry men; and said; Proceed to Raudat-Hajj Abu Salama said that Abu Awana called it like this; i.e.; Hajj where there is a woman carrying a letter from Hatib Bin Abi Baltaa to the pagans of Mecca. So bring that letter to me. So we proceeded riding on our horses till we overtook her at the same place of which Allah Messenger ﷺ had told us. She was traveling on her camel. In that letter Hatib had written to the Meccans about the proposed attached of Allah Messenger ﷺ against them. We asked her; Where is the letter which is with you? She replied; I havent got any letter. So we made her camel kneel down and searched her luggage; but we did not find anything. My two companions said; We do not think that she has got a letter. I said; We know that Allah Messenger ﷺ has not told a lie. Then Ali took an oath saying; By Him by Whom one should swear! You shall either bring out the letter or we shall strip off your clothes. She then stretched out her hand for her girdle round her waist and brought out the paper letter. They took the letter to Allah Messenger ﷺ. Umar said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Hatib has betrayed Allah; His Apostle and the believers; let me chop off his neck! Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Hatib! What obliged you to do what you have done? Hatib replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Why for what reason should I not believe in Allah and His Apostle? But I intended to do the Mecca people a favor by virtue of which my family and property may be protected as there is none of your companions but has some of his people relatives whom Allah urges to protect his family and property. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1678Narrated Samura Bin Jundub: Allah Messenger ﷺ very often used to ask his companions; Did anyone of you see a dream? So dreams would be narrated to him by those whom Allah wished to tell. One morning the Prophet ﷺ said; Last night two persons came to me in a dream and woke me up and said to me; Proceed! I set out with them and we came across a man lying down; and behold; another man was standing over his head; holding a big rock. Behold; he was throwing the rock at the man head; injuring it. The rock rolled away and the thrower followed it and took it back. By the time he reached the man; his head returned to the normal state. The thrower then did the same as he had done before. I said to my two companions; Subhan Allah! Who are these two persons? They said; Proceed! So we proceeded and came to a man lying flat on his back and another man standing over his head with an iron hook; and behold; he would put the hook in one side of the man mouth and tear off that side of his face to the back of the neck and similarly tear his nose from front to back and his eye from front to back. Then he turned to the other side of the man face and did just as he had done with the other side. He hardly completed this side when the other side returned to its normal state. Then he returned to it to repeat what he had done before. I said to my two companions; Subhan Allah! Who are these two persons? They said to me; Proceed! So we proceeded and came across something like a Tannur a kind of baking oven; a pit usually clay-lined for baking bread. I think the Prophet ﷺ said; In that oven there was much noise and voices. The Prophet ﷺ added; We looked into it and found naked men and women; and behold; a flame of fire was reaching to them from underneath; and when it reached them; they cried loudly. I asked them; Who are these? They said to me; Proceed! And so we proceeded and came across a river. I think he said;.... red like blood. The Prophet ﷺ added; And behold; in the river there was a man swimming; and on the bank there was a man who had collected many stones. Behold; while the other man was swimming; he went near him. The former opened his mouth and the latter on the bank threw a stone into his mouth whereupon he went swimming again. He returned and every time the performance was repeated. I asked my two companions; Who are these two persons? They replied; Proceed! Proceed! And we proceeded till we came to a man with a repulsive appearance; the most repulsive appearance; you ever saw a man having! Beside him there was a fire and he was kindling it and running around it. I asked my companions; Who is this man ? They said to me; Proceed! Proceed! So we proceeded till we reached a garden of deep green dense vegetation; having all sorts of spring colors. In the midst of the garden there was a very tall man and I could hardly see his head because of his great height; and around him there were children in such a large number as I have never seen. I said to my companions; Who is this? They replied; Proceed! Proceed! So we proceeded till we came to a majestic huge garden; greater and better than I have ever seen! My two companions said to me; Go up and I went up. The Prophet ﷺ added; So we ascended till we reached a city built of gold and silver bricks and we went to its gate and asked the gatekeeper to open the gate; and it was opened and we entered the city and found in it; men with one side of their bodies as handsome as the handsomest person you have ever seen; and the other side as ugly as the ugliest person you have ever seen. My two companions ordered those men to throw themselves into the river. Behold; there was a river flowing across the city ; and its water was like milk in whiteness. Those men went and threw themselves in it and then returned to us after the ugliness of their bodies had disappeared and they became in the best shape. The Prophet ﷺ further added; My two companions angels said to me; This place is the Eden Paradise; and that is your place. I raised up my sight; and behold; there I saw a palace like a white cloud! My two companions said to me; That palace is your place. I said to them; May Allah bless you both! Let me enter it. They replied; As for now; you will not enter it; but you shall enter it one day. I said to them; I have seen many wonders tonight. What does all that mean which I have seen? They replied; We will inform you: As for the first man you came upon whose head was being injured with the rock; he is the symbol of the one who studies the Quran and then neither recites it nor acts on its orders; and sleeps; neglecting the enjoined prayers. As for the man you came upon whose sides of mouth; nostrils and eyes were torn off from front to back; he is the symbol of the man who goes out of his house in the morning and tells so many lies that it spreads all over the world. And those naked men and women whom you saw in a construction resembling an oven; they are the adulterers and the adulteresses. And the man whom you saw swimming in the river and given a stone to swallow; is the eater of usury Riba. And the bad looking man whom you saw near the fire kindling it and going round it; is Malik; the gatekeeper of Hell. And the tall man whom you saw in the garden; is Abraham and the children around him are those children who die with AlFitra the Islamic Faith. The narrator added: Some Muslims asked the Prophet; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! What about the children of pagans? The Prophet ﷺ replied; And also the children of pagans. The Prophet ﷺ added; My two companions added; The men you saw half handsome and half ugly were those persons who had mixed an act that was good with another that was bad; but Allah forgave them. The Chapter on Almadinah And Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The interpretation of dreams after the Fajr prayer in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1763Narrated Abu Qilaba: Once Umar Bin Abd AlAziz sat on his throne in the courtyard of his house so that the people might gather before him. Then he admitted them and when they came in ; he said; What do you think of AlQasama? They said; We say that it is lawful to depend on AlQasama in Qisas; as the previous Muslim Caliphs carried out Qisas depending on it. Then he said to me; O Abu Qilaba! What do you say about it? He let me appear before the people and I said; O Chief of the Believers! You have the chiefs of the army staff and the nobles of the Arabs. If fifty of them testified that a married man had committed illegal sexual intercourse in Damascus but they had not seen him doing so ; would you stone him? He said; No. I said; If fifty of them testified that a man had committed theft in Hums; would you cut off his hand though they did not see him? He replied; No. I said; By Allah; Allah Messenger ﷺ never killed anyone except in one of the following three situations: 1 A person who killed somebody unjustly; was killed in Qisas; 2 a married person who committed illegal sexual intercourse and 3 a man who fought against Allah and His Apostle and deserted Islam and became an apostate. Then the people said; Didnt Anas Bin Malik narrate that Allah Messenger ﷺ cut off the hands of the thieves; branded their eyes and then; threw them in the sun? I said; I shall tell you the narration of Anas. Anas said: Eight persons from the tribe of Ukl came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and gave the Pledge of allegiance for Islam became Muslim. The climate of the place Medina did not suit them; so they became sick and complained about that to Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said to them ; Wont you go out with the shepherd of our camels and drink of the camels milk and urine as medicine ? They said; Yes. So they went out and drank the camels milk and urine; and after they became healthy; they killed the shepherd of Allah Messenger ﷺ and took away all the camels. This news reached Allah Messenger ﷺ ; so he sent men to follow their traces and they were captured and brought to the Prophet. He then ordered to cut their hands and feet; and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron; and then he threw them in the sun till they died. I said; What can be worse than what those people did? They deserted Islam; committed murder and theft. Then Anbasa Bin Saeed said; By Allah; I never heard a narration like this of today. I said; O Anbasa! You deny my narration? Anbasa said; No; but you have related the narration in the way it should be related. By Allah; these people are in welfare as long as this Sheikh Abu Qilaba is among them. I added; Indeed in this event there has been a tradition set by Allah Messenger ﷺ. The narrator added: Some Ansari people came to the Prophet ﷺ and discussed some matters with him; a man from amongst them went out and was murdered. Those people went out after him; and behold; their companion was swimming in blood. They returned to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said to him; O Allah Apostle; we have found our companion who had talked with us and gone out before us; swimming in blood killed. Allah Messenger ﷺ went out and asked them; Whom do you suspect or whom do you think has killed him? They said; We think that the Jews have killed him. The Prophet ﷺ sent for the Jews and asked them; Did you kill this person ? They replied; No. He asked the AlAnsars; Do you agree that I let fifty Jews take an oath that they have not killed him? They said; It matters little for the Jews to kill us all and then take false oaths. He said; Then would you like to receive the Diya after fifty of you have taken an oath that the Jews have killed your man ? They said; We will not take the oath. Then the Prophet ﷺ himself paid them the Diya Blood-money. The narrator added; The tribe of Hudhail repudiated one of their men for his evil conduct in the Pre-lslamic period of Ignorance. Then; at a place called AlBatha near Mecca ; the man attacked a Yemenite family at night to steal from them; but a. man from the family noticed him and struck him with his sword and killed him. The tribe of Hudhail came and captured the Yemenite and brought him to Umar during the Hajj season and said; He has killed our companion. The Yemenite said; But these people had repudiated him i.e.; their companion. Umar said; Let fifty persons of Hudhail swear that they had not repudiated him. So forty-nine of them took the oath and then a person belonging to them; came from Sham and they requested him to swear similarly; but he paid one-thousand Dirhams instead of taking the oath. They called another man instead of him and the new man shook hands with the brother of the deceased. Some people said; We and those fifty men who had taken false oaths AlQasama set out; and when they reached a place called Nakhlah; it started raining so they entered a cave in the mountain; and the cave collapsed on those fifty men who took the false oath; and all of them died except the two persons who had shaken hands with each other. They escaped death but a stone fell on the leg of the brother of the deceased and broke it; whereupon he survived for one year and then died. I further said; Abdul Malik Bin Marwan sentenced a man to death in Qisas equality in punishment for murder; basing his judgment on AlQasama; but later on he regretted that judgment and ordered that the names of the fifty persons who had taken the oath AlQasama ; be erased from the register; and he exiled them in Sham. The Chapter on Killing And Payments in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on AlQasama in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1838Narrated Aisha: When Allah Messenger ﷺ was healthy; he used to say; No prophet dies till he is shown his place in Paradise; and then he is given the option to live or die. So when death approached him during his illness ; and while his head was on my thigh; he became unconscious for a while; and when he recovered; he fixed his eyes on the ceiling and said; O Allah! Let me join the Highest Companions see Quran 4:69 ; I said; So; he does not choose us. Then I realized that it was the application of the statement he used to relate to us when he was healthy. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1863Narrated Amir Bin Sad: that his father said; In the year of Hajjatal-Wada; the Prophet ﷺ paid me a visit while I was suffering from an ailment that had brought me to the verge of death. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! My sickness has reduced me to the bad state as you see; and I am a rich man; but have no heirs except one daughter. Shall I give 2/3 of my property in charity? He said; No. I said; Then 1/2 of it? He said; Even 1/3 is too much; for; to leave your inheritors wealthy is better than to leave them in poverty; begging from people. And know that whatever you spend in Allah Cause; you will get reward for it; even for the morsel of food which you put in your wife mouth. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Will I be left behind my companions in Mecca ? He said; If you remain behind; whatever good deed you will do for Allah Sake; will raise and upgrade you to a higher position in Allah Sight. May be you will live longer so that some people may benefit by you; and some e others pagans may get harmed by you. O Allah! Complete the migration of my companions and do not turn them on their heels; But we pity the poor Saad Bin Khaula not the above mentioned Sad died in Mecca Allah Messenger ﷺ lamented or pitied for him as he died in Mecca. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1932Narrated Ali: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent me; AlZubair Bin AlAwam and Abu Marthad AlGhanawi; and all of us were horsemen; and he said; Proceed till you reach Rawdat Khakh; where there is a woman from the pagans carrying a letter sent by Hatib Bin Abi Baltaa to the pagans of Mecca. So we overtook her while she was proceeding on her camel at the same place as Allah Messenger ﷺ told us. We said to her Where is the letter which is with you? She said; I have no letter with me. So we made her camel kneel down and searched her mount baggage etc but could not find anything. My two companions said; We do not see any letter. I said; I know that Allah Messenger ﷺ did not tell a lie. By Allah; if you the lady do not bring out the letter; I will strip you of your clothes When she noticed that I was serious; she put her hand into the knot of her waist sheet; for she was tying a sheet round herself; and brought out the letter. So we proceeded to Allah Messenger ﷺ with the letter. The Prophet ﷺ said to Habib ; What made you o what you have done; O Hatib? Hatib replied; I have done nothing except that I believe in Allah and His Apostle; and I have not changed or altered my religion. But I wanted to do the favor to the people pagans of Mecca through which Allah might protect my family and my property; as there is none among your companions but has someone in Mecca through whom Allah protects his property against harm. The Prophet ﷺ said; Habib has told you the truth; so do not say to him anything but good. Umar Bin AlKhattab said; Verily he has betrayed Allah; His Apostle; and the believers! Allow me to chop his neck off! The Prophet ﷺ said; O Umar! What do you know; perhaps Allah looked upon the Badr warriors and said; Do whatever you like; for I have ordained that you will be in Paradise. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2014Narrated Abu Huraira: We witnessed along with Allah Messenger ﷺ the Khaibar campaign. Allah Messenger ﷺ told his companions about a man who claimed to be a Muslim; This man is from the people of the Fire. When the battle started; the man fought very bravely and received a great number of wounds and got crippled. On that; a man from among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ came and said; O Allah Apostle! Do you know what the man you described as of the people of the Fire has done? He has fought very bravely for Allah Cause and he has received many wounds. The Prophet ﷺ said; But he is indeed one of the people of the Fire. Some of the Muslims were about to have some doubt about that statement. So while the man was in that state; the pain caused by the wounds troubled him so much that he put his hand into his quiver and took out an arrow and committed suicide with it. Off went some men from among the Muslims to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Allah has made your statement true. So-and-so has committed suicide. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Bilal! SahihMuslim-017-001-17295Sahl Bin Abu Hathma and Rafi Bin Khadeej reported that Abdullah Bin Sahl Bin Zaid and Muhayisa Bin Masud Bin Zaid went out and as they reached Khaibar they were separated. Then Muhayisa found Abdullah Bin Sahl having been killed. He buried him; and then came to Allah Messenger ﷺ. They were Huwayisa Bin Masud and Abdulrahman Bin Sahl; and he the latter one was the youngest of the people those three who had come to seek an interview with the Holy Prophet began to talk before his Companions had spoken. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: The eldest one eldest in regard to age should speak. So he kept quiet; and his companions Muhayisa and Huwayisa began to speak; and he Abdulrahman spoke along with them and they narrated to Allah Messenger ﷺ the murder of Abdullah Bin Sahl. Thereupon he said to them: Are you prepared to take fifty oaths so that you may be entitled to blood-wit of your companion or your man who has murdered ? They said: How can we take an oath on a matter which we have not witnessed? He the Holy Prophet said: Then the Jews will exonerate themselves by fifty oaths. They said: How can we accept the oaths of people who are unbelievers? SahihMuslim-017-001-17299Bushair Bin Yasar reported that Abdullah Bin Sahl Bin Zaid and Muhayisa Bin Masud Bin Zaid; both of them were Ansar belonging to the tribe of Banu Haritha; set out to Khaibar during the lifetime of Allah Messenger ﷺ. There was peace during those days and this place was inhabited by the Jews. They parted company for their respective needs. Abdullab Bin Sahl was killed; and his dead body was found in a tank. His companion Muhayisa buried him and came to Medina; and the brothers of the slain Abdulrahman Bin Sahl. and Muhayisa and Huwayisa told Allah Messenger ﷺ the case of Abdullah and the place where he had been murdered. Bushair reported on the authority of one who had seen Allah Messenger ﷺ that he had said to them: You take fifty oaths and you are entitled to blood-wit of one slain among you or your companion. They said: Messenger of Allah; we neither saw with our own eyes this murder nor were we present there. Thereupon Allah Messenger is reported to have said : Then the Jews will exonerate themselves by taking fifty oaths. They said: Allah Messenger; how can we accept the oath of unbelieving people? SahihMuslim-017-001-17302Abu Laila Abdullah Bin Abdulrahman Bin Sahl reported that the elderly persons of the tribe had informed Sahl Bin Abu Hathma that Abdullah Bin Sahl and Muhayisa went out to Khaibar under some distress which had afflicted them. Muhayisa came and informed that Abdutlah Bin Sahl had been killed; and his dead body had been thrown in a well or in a ditch. He came to the Jews and said: By Allah; it is you who have killed him. They said: By Allah; we have not killed him. He then came to his people; and made mention of that to them. Then came he and his brother Huwayisa; and he was older than he; and Abdulrahman Bin Sahl. Then Muhayisa went to speak; and it was he who had accompanied Abdullah to Khaibar; whereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said to Muhayisa: Observe greatness of the great he meant the seniority of age. Then Huwayisa spoke and then Muhayisa also spoke. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: They should either pay blood-wit for your companion; or be prepared for war. Allah Messenger ﷺ wrote about it to them to the Jews. They wrote: Verily; by Allah; we have not killed him. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said to Huwayisa and Muhayisa and Abdulrahman Are you prepared to take oath in order to entitle yourselves for the blood-wit of your companion? They said: No. He the Holy Prophet said: Then the Jews will take oath of their innocence. They said: They are not Muslims. SahihMuslim-017-001-17614Imran Bin Hosain reported that the tribe of Thaqif was the ally of Banu Uqail. Thaqif took two persons from amongst the Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ as prisoners. The Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ took one person at Banu Uqail as prisoner; and captured AlAdbi the camel of the Holy Prophet along with him. Allah Messenger ﷺ came to him and he was tied with ropes. He said: Muhammad. He came near him and said: What is the matter with you? Thereupon he the prisoner said: Why have you taken me as prisoner and why have you caught hold of one proceeding the pilgrims the camel as she carried the Prophet on her back and walked ahead of the multitude ? He the Holy Prophet said: Yours is a great fault. I my men have caught hold of you for the crime of your allies; Banu Thaqif. He the Holy Prophet then turned away. He again called him and said: Muhammad; Muhammad; and since Allah Messenger ﷺ was very compassionate; and tenderhearted; he returned to him; and said: What is the matter with you? He said: I am a Muslim; whereupon he the Holy Prophet said: Had you said this when you had been the master of yourself; you would have gained every success. He then turned away. He the prisoner called him again saying: Muhammad; Muhammad. He came to him and said: What is the matter with you? He said: I am hungry; feed me; and I am thirsty; so provide me with drink. He the Holy Prophet said: That is to satisfy your want. He was then ransomed for two persons who had been taken prisoner by Thaqif. He the narrator said: A woman of the Ansar had been taken prisoner and also AlAdbi was caught. The woman had been tied with ropes. The people were giving rest to their animals before their houses. She escaped one night from the bondage and came to the camels. As she drew near the camels; they fretted and fumed and so she left them until she came to Al; Adbi. It did not fret and fume; it was docile She rode upon its back and drove it away and she went off. When they the enemies of Islam were warned of this; they went in search of it; but it the camel exhausted them. She the woman took vow for Allah; that in case He would save her through it; she would offer that as a sacrifice. As she reached Medina; the people saw her and they said: Here is AlAdbi; the camel of Allah Messenger ﷺ. She the woman said that she had taken a vow that if Allah would save her on its back; she would sacrifice it. They the Prophet Companions came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and made a mention of that to him; whereupon he said: Hallowed be Allah; how ill she rewarded it that she took vow to Allah that if He saves her on its back; she would sacrifice it! There is no fulfillment of the vow in an act of disobedience; nor in an act over which a person has no control. SahihMuslim-017-001-17680Abu Huraira Allah be pleased with him reported that when the body of a dead person having burden of debt upon him was brought to Allah Messenger ﷺ he would ask whether he had left property enough to clear off his debt; and if the property left had been sufficient for that purpose ; he observed funeral prayer for him; otherwise he said to his companions : You observe prayer for your companion. But when Allah opened the gateways of victory for him; he said: I am nearer to the believers than themselves; so if anyone dies leaving a debt; its payment is my responsibility; and if anyone leaves a property; it goes to his heirs.Chapter on 4 in Sahih Muslim

SahihMuslim-017-001-17957Amir Bin Saad reported on the authority of his father Saad Bin Abi Waqqas : Allah Messenger ﷺ visited me in my illness which brought me near death in the year of Hajjat AlWada Farewell Pilgrimage. I said: Allah Messenger; you can well see the pain with which I am afflicted and I am a man possessing wealth; and there is none to inherit me except only one daughter. Should I give two-thirds of my property as Sadaqa? He said: No. I said: Should I give half of my property as Sadaqa? He said: No. He further said: Give one-third in charity and that is quite enough. To leave your heirs rich is better than to leave them poor; begging from people; that you would never incur an expense seeking therewith the pleasure of Allah; but you would be rewarded therefor; even for a morsel of food that you put in the mouth of your wife. I said: Allah Messenger. would I survive my companions? He the Holy Prophet said: If you survive them; then do such a deed by means of which you seek the pleasure of Allah; but you would increase in your status in religion and prestige; you may survive so that people would benefit from you; and others would be harmed by you. The Holy Prophet further said: Allah; complete for my Companions their migration; and not cause them to turn back upon their heels. Saad Bin Khaula is; however; unfortunate. SahihMuslim-017-001-17985It has been reported from Sulaiman Bin Buraida through his father that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed anyone as leader of an army or detachment he would especially exhort him to fear Allah and to be good to the Muslims who were with him. He would say: Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war; do not embezzle the spoils; do not break your pledge; and do not mutilate the dead bodies; do not kill the children. When you meet your enemies who are polytheists; invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these; you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to accept Islam; if they respond to you; accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. Then invite them to migrate from their lands to the land of the Muhajireen and inform them that; if they do so; they shall have all the privileges and obligations of the Muhajireen. If they refuse to migrate; tell them that they will have the status of Bedouin Muslims and will be subjected to the Commands of Allah like other Muslims; but they will not get any share from the spoils of war or Fai except when they actually fight with the Muslims against the disbelievers. If they refuse to accept Islam; demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay; accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax; seek Allah help and fight them. When you lay siege to a fort and the besieged appeal to you for protection in the name of Allah and His Prophet; do not accord to them the guarantee of Allah and His Prophet; but accord to them your own guarantee and the guarantee of your companions for it is a lesser sin that the security given by you or your companions be disregarded than that the security granted in the name of Allah and His Prophet be violated. When you besiege a fort and the besieged want you to let them out in accordance with Allah Command; do not let them come out in accordance with His Command; but do so at your own command; for you do not know whether or not you will be able to carry out Allah behest with regard to them. The Chapter on Inviting The Idolaters And Infidels To Islam in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 2 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18051It has been narrated on the authority of Umar Bin AlKhattab who said: When it was the day on which the Battle of Badr was fought; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cast a glance at the infidels; and they were one thousand while his own Companions were three hundred and nineteen. The Prophet ﷺ turned his face towards the Qibla. Then he stretched his hands and began his supplication to his Lord: O Allah; accomplish for me what Thou hast promised to me. O Allah; bring about what Thou hast promised to me. O Allah; if this small band of Muslims is destroyed. Thou will not be worshipped on this earth. He continued his supplication to his Lord; stretching his hands; facing the Qibla; until his mantle slipped down from his shoulders. So Abu Bakr came to him; picked up his mantle and put it on his shoulders. Then he embraced him from behind and said: Prophet of Allah; this prayer of yours to your Lord will suffice you; and He will fulfill for you what He has promised you. So Allah; the Glorious and Exalted; revealed the Quranic verse : When ye appealed to your Lord for help; He responded to your call saying : I will help you with one thousand angels coming in succession. So Allah helped him with angels. Abu Zumail said that the hadith was narrated to him by Ibn Abbas who said: While on that day a Muslim was chasing a disbeliever who was going ahead of him; he heard over him the swishing of the whip and the voice of the rider saying: Go ahead; Haizum! He glanced at the polytheist who had now fallen down on his back. When he looked at him carefully he found that there was a scar on his nose and his face was torn as if it had been lashed with a whip; and had turned green with its poison. An Ansari came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and related this event to him. He said: You have told the truth. This was the help from the third heaven. The Muslims that day i.e. the day of the Battle of Badr killed seventy persons and captured seventy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Bakr and Umar Allah be pleased with them : What is your opinion about these captives? Abu Bakr said: They are our kith and kin. I think you should release them after getting from them a ransom. This will be a source of strength to us against the infidels. It is quite possible that Allah may guide them to Islam. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What is your opinion; Ibn AlKhattab? He said: Messenger of Allah; I do not hold the same opinion as Abu Bakr. I am of the opinion that you should hand them over to us so that we may cut off their heads. Hand over Aqil to Ali that he may cut off his head; and hand over such and such relative to me that I may cut off his head. They are leaders of the disbelievers and veterans among them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ approved the opinion of Abu Bakr and did not approve what I said. The next day when I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; I found that both he and Abu Bakr were sitting shedding tears. I said: Messenger of Allah; why are you and your Companion shedding tears? Tell me the reason. For I will weep; or I will at least pretend to weep in sympathy with you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I weep for what has happened to your companions for taking ransom from the prisoners. I was shown the torture to which they were subjected. It was brought to me as close as this tree. He pointed to a tree close to him. Then God revealed the verse: It is not befitting for a prophet that he should take prisoners until the force of the disbelievers has been crushed... to the end of the verse: so eat ye the spoils of war; it is lawful and pure. So Allah made booty lawful for them. The Chapter on Almaghazi And Alansar in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 18 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18083This tradition has been narrated on the authority of Salama who said: We fought by the side of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Hunain. When we encountered the enemy; I advanced and ascended a hillock. A man from the enemy side turned towards me and I shot him with an arrow. He ducked and hid himself from me. I could not understand what he did; but all of a sudden I saw that a group of people appeared from the other hillock. They and the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ met in combat; but the Companions of the Prophet turned back and I too turned back defeated. I had two mantles; one of which I was wrapping round the waist covering the lower part of my body and the other I was putting around my shoulders. My waist-wrapper got loose and I held the two mantles together. In this downcast condition I passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who was riding on his white mule. He said: The son of Akwa finds himself to be utterly perplexed. Wher. the Companions gathered round him from all sides. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got down from his mule. picked up a handful of dust from the ground; threw it into their enemy faces and said: May these faces be deformed 1 There was no one among the enemy whose eyes were not filled with the dust from this handful. So they turned back fleeing. and Allah the Exalted and Glorious defeated them; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed their booty among the Muslims. The Chapter on Directions Turning in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 28 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18085It has been narrated on the authority of Anas that when the news of the advance of Abu Sufyan at the head of a force reached him. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ held consultations with his Companions. The narrator said: Abu Bakr spoke expressing his own views ; but he the Holy Prophet did not pay heed to him. Then spoke Umar expressing his views ; but he the Holy Prophet did not pay heed to him too. Then Saad Bin Ubada stood up and said: Messenger of Allah; you want us to speak. By God in Whose control is my life; if you order us to plunge our horses into the sea; we would do so. If you order us to goad our horses to the most distant place like Bark AlGhimad; we would do so. The narrator said: Now the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called upon the people for the encounter. So they set out and encamped at Badr. Soon the water-carriers of the Quraish arrived. Among them was a black slave belonging to Banu AlHajjaj. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ caught him and interrogated him about Abu Sufyan and his companions. He said: I know nothing about Abu Sufyan; but Abu Jahl; Utba; Shaiba and Umaya Bin Khalaf are there. When he said this; they beat him. Then he said: All right; I will tell you about Abu Sufyan. They would stop beating him and then ask him again about Abu Sufyan. He would again say; I know nothing about Abu Sufyan; but Abu Jahl. Utba; Shaiba and Umaya Bin Khalaf are there. When he said this; they beat him likewise. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing in prayer. When he saw this he finished his prayer and said: By Allah in Whose control is my life; you beat him when he is telling you the truth; and you let him go when he tells you a lie. The narrator said: Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is the place where so and so would be killed. He placed his hand on the earth saying here and here; and none of them fell away from the place which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had indicated by placing his hand on the earth. The Chapter on Hand Gestures Swords in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 30 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18105It has been reported on the authority of Anas Bin Malik that when the enemy got the upper hand on the day of the Battle of Uhud; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was left with only seven men from the ansar and two men from the Quraish. When the enemy advanced towards him and overwhelmed him; he said: Whoso turns them away from us will attain Paradise or will be my Companion in Paradise. A man from the Ansar came forward and fought the enemy until he was killed. The enemy advanced and overwhelmed him again and he repeated the words: Whoso turns them away; from us will attain Paradise or will be my Companion in Paradise. A man from the Arsar came forward and fought until he was killed. This state continued until the seven Ansar were killed one after the other. Now; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his two Companions: We have not done justice to our Companions. The Chapter on Enemies And Groups And Killing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 37 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18128It has been narrated on the authority of Jabir that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Who will kill Kaab Bin Ashraf? He has maligned Allah; the Exalted; and His Messenger. Muhammad Bin Maslama said: Messenger of Allah; do you wish that I should kill him? He said: Yes. He said: Permit me to talk to him in the way I deem fit. He said: Talk as you like. So; Muhammad Bin Maslama came to Kaab and talked to him; referred to the old friendship between them and said: This man i. e. the Holy Prophet has made up his mind to collect charity from us and this has put us to a great hardship. When be heard this; Kaab said: By God; you will be put to more trouble by him. Muhammad Bin Maslama said: No doubt; now we have become his followers and we do not like to forsake him until we see what turn his affairs will take. I want that you should give me a loan. He said: What will you mortgage? He said: What do you want? He said: Pledge me your women. He said: You are the most handsome of the Arabs; should we pledge our women to you? He said: Pledge me your children. He said: The son of one of us may abuse us saying that he was pledged for two wasqs of dates; but we can pledge you cur weapons. He said: All right. Then Muhammad Bin Maslama promised that he would come to him with Harith; Abu Abs Bin Jabr and Abbad Bin Bishr. So they came and called upon him at night. He came down to them. Sufyan says that all the narrators except Amr have stated that his wife said: I hear a voice which sounds like the voice of murder. He said: It is only Muhammad Bin Maslama and his foster-brother; Abu Naila. When a gentleman is called at night even it to be pierced with a spear; he should respond to the call. Muhammad said to his companions: As he comes down; I will extend my hands towards his head and when I hold him fast; you should do your job. So when he came down and he was holding his cloak under his arm; they said to him: We sense from you a very fine smell. He said: Yes; I have with me a mistress who is the most scented of the women of Arabia. He said: Allow me to smell the scent on your head. He said: Yes; you may smell. So he caught it and smelt. Then he said: Allow me to do so once again. He then held his head fast and said to his companions: Do your job. And they killed him.The Chapter on Personal Hygiene Shaving in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 42 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18142It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Salama. He heard the tradition from his father who said: We arrived at Hudaibiya with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we were fourteen hundred in number. There were fifty goats for them which could not be watered by the small quantity of water in the local well. So; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat on the brink of the well. Either he prayed or spat into the well The water welled up. We drank and watered the beasts as well. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called us to take the vow of allegiance; as he was sitting at the base of a tree. I was the first man to take the vow. Then other people took the vow. When half the number of people had done so; he said to me: You take the vow; Salama. I said: I was one of those who took the vow in the first instance. He said: You may do again. Then the Messenger. of Allah ﷺ saw that I was without weapons. He gave me a big or a small shield. Then he continued to administer vows to the people until it was the last batch of them. He said to me : Wont you swear allegiance; Salama? I said: Messenger of Allah; I took the oath with the first batch of the people and then again when you were in the middle of the people. He said: Doesnt matter ; you may do so again. So I took the oath of allegiance thrice. Then he said to me: Salama; where is the shield which I gave to thee? I said: Messenger of Allah; my uncle Amir met me and he was without any weapons. So I gave the shield to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed and said: You are like a person of the days gone by who said: O God. I seek a friend who is dearer to me than myself. When all Companions had sworn allegiance to the Holy Prophet ; the polytheists sent messages of peace; until people could move from our camp to that of the Meccans and vice versa. Finally; the peace treaty was concluded. I was a dependant of Talha Bin Ubaidullah. I watered his horse; rubbed its back. I served Talha doing odd jobs for him and partook from his food. I had left my family and my property as an emigrant in the cause of Allah and His Messenger may peace be uron him. When we and the people of Mecca had concluded a peace treaty and the people of one side began to mix with those of the other; I came to a tree; swept away its thorns and lay down for rest at its base; while I lay there ; four of the polytheists from the Meccans came to me and began to talk ill of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I got enraged with them and moved to another tree. They hung their weapons to the branches of the tree and lay down for rest. While they lay there ; somebody from the lower part of the valley cried out: Run up; O Muhajirs! Ibn Zunaim has been murdered. I drew my sword and attacked these four while they were asleep. I seized their arms and collected them up in my hand; and said: By the Being Who has conferred honour upon Muhammad; none of you shall raise his head; else I will smite his face. Then I came driving them along to the Prophet ﷺ. At the same time. my uncle Amir came to him with a man from Abalat called Mikraz. Amir was dragging him on a horse with a thick covering on its back along with seventy polytheists. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ cast a glance at them and said: Let them go so that they may prove guilty of breach of trust more than once before we take action against them. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forgave them. On this occasion. God revealed the Quranic verse: It is He Who restrained their hands from you and your hands from them in the valley of Mecca after He had granted you a victory over them xlviii. 24. Then we moved returning to Medina; and halted at a place where there was a mountain between us and Banu Lihyan who were polytheists. The Messenaer of Allah ﷺ asked God forgiveness for one who ascended the mountain at night to act as a scout for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Compinions. I ascended that mountain twice or thrice that night. At last we reached Medina. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent his camels with his slave; Rabah; and I was with him. I also went to the pasture with the horse of Talha along with the camels. When the day dawned; Abdulrahman AlFazari made a raid and drove away all the camels of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and killed the man who looked after them. I said: Rabah; ride this horse; take it to Talha Bin Ubaidullah and Inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that the polytheists have made away with his camels. Then I stood upon a hillock and turning my face to Medina; shouted thrice: Come to our help I Then I set out in pursuit of the raiders; shooting at them with arrows and chanting a self-eulogatory verse in the Iambic metre: I am the son of AlAkwa And today is the day of defeat for the mean. I would overtake a man from them; shoot at him an arrow which; piercing through the saddle; would reach his shoulder. and I would say: Take it; chanting at the same time the verse And I am the son of AlAkwa And tody is the day of defeat for the mean. By God; I continued shooting at them and hamstringing their animals. Whenever a horseman turned upon me; I would come to a tree and hid myself sitting at its base. Then I would shoot at him and hamstring his horse. At last they entered a narrow mountain gorge. I ascended that mountain and held them at bay throwing stones at them. I continued to chase them in this way until I got all the camels of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ released and no camel was left with them. They left me; then I followed them shooting at them continually until they dropped more than thirty mantles and thirty lances. lightening their burden. On everything they dropped; I put a mark with the help of a piece of stone so that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Companions might recognise them that it was booty left by the enemy. They went on until They came to a narrow valley when so and so; son of Badr AlFazari joined them. They now sat down to take their breakfast and I sat on the top of a tapering rock. AlFazari said: Who is that fellow I am seeing? They said: This fellow has harassed us. By God; he has not left us since dusk and has been continually shooting at us until he has snatched everything from our hands. He said: Four of you should make a dash at him and kill him. Accordingly ; four of them ascended the mountain coming towards me. When it became possible for me to talk to them; I said: Do you recognise me? They said: No. Who are thou? I said: I am Salama; son of AlAkwa. By the Being Who has honoured the countenance of Muhammad ﷺ I can kill any of you I like but none of you will be able to kill me. One of them said: I think he is right. So they returned. I did not move from my place until I saw the horsemen of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; who came riding through the trees. Lo! the foremost among them was Akhram AlAsadi. Behind him was Abu Qatada AlAnsari and behind him was AlMiqdad Bin AlAswad AlKindi. I caught hold of the rein of Akhram horse Seeing this. they the raiders fled. I said to Akhram : Akhram; guard yourself against them until Allah Messenger ﷺ and his Companions join you. He said: Salama; if you believe In Allah and the Day of Judgment and if you kaow that Paradise is a reality and Hell is a reality; you should not stand between me and martyrdom. so I let him go. Akhram and Abdulrahman Fazari met in combat. Akhram hamstrung Abdulrahman horse and the latter struck him with his lance and killed him. Abd AlRabman turned about riding Akhram horse. Abu Qatada; a horse-man of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; met Abdulrahman in combat ; smote him with his lance and killed him. By the Being Who honoured the countenance of Muhammad may peace oe upon him ; I followed them running on my feet so fast that I couldnt see behind me the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ ; nor any dust raised by their horses. I followed them until before sunset they reached a valley which had a spring of water; which was called Dhu Qarad; so that they could have a drink; for they were thirsty. They saw me running towards them. I turned them out of the valley before they could drink a drop of its water. They left the valley and ran down a slope. I ran behind them ; overtook a man from them; shot him with an arrow through the shoulder blade and said: Take this. I am the son of AlAkwa; and today is the day of annihilation for the people who are mean. The fellow who was wounded said: May his mother weep over him! Are you the Akwa who has been chasing us since morning? I said: Yes; O enemy of thyself; the same Akwa. They left two horses dead tired on the hillock and I came dragging them along to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I met Amir who had with him a container having milk diluted with water and a container having water. I performed ablution with the water and drank the milk. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was at the spring of water from which I had driven them away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had captured those camels and everything else I had captured and all the lances and mantles I had snatched from the polytheists and Bilal had slaughtered a camel from the camels I had seized from the people; and was roasting its liver and hump for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: Messenger of Allah; let me select from our people one hundred men and I will follow the marauders and I will finish them all so that nobody is left to convey the news of their destruction to their people. At these words of mine ; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed so much that his molar teeth could be seen in the light of the fire; and he said: Salama; do you think you can do this? I said: Yes; by the Being Who has honoured you. He said: Now they have reached the land of Ghatafan where they are being feted. At this time a man from the Ghatafan came along and said: So and so slaughtered a camel for them. When they were exposing its skin; they saw dust being raised far off. They said: They Akwa and his companions have come. So. they went away fleeing. When it was morning; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Our best horseman today is Abu Qatada and our best footman today is Salama. Then he gave me two shares of the booty-the share meant for the horseman and the share meant for the footman; and combined both of them for me. Intending to return to Medina; he made me mount behind him on his camel named AlAdba. While we were travelling; a man from the Ansar who could not be beaten in a race said: Is there anyone who could compete with me in race to Medina? Is there any competitor? He continued repeating this. When I heard his talk; I said: Dont you show consideration to a dignified person and dont you have awe for a noble man? He said: No; unless he be the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: Messenger of Allah; may my father and mother be thy ransom; let me get down so that I may beat this man in the race. He said: It you wish; you may. I said to the man : I am coming to thee; I then turned my feet. sprang up and tan and gasped for a while when one or two elevated places were left and again followed his heel and again gasped for a while when one or two elevated places were left and again dashed until I joined him and gave a blow between his shoulders. I said: You have been overtaken; by God. He said: I think so. Thus; I reached Medina ahead of him. By God; we had stayed there only three nights when we set out to Khaibar with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. On the way my uncle; Amir; began to recite the following rajaz verses for the people: By God; if Thou hadst not guided us aright; We would have neither practised charity nor offered prayers. O God! We cannot do without Thy favours; Keep us steadfast when we encounter the enemy; And descend tranquillity upon us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Who is this? Amir said: it is Amir. He said: May thy God forgive thee! The narrator said: Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked forgiveness for a particular person; he was sure to embrace martyrdom. Umar Bin AlKhattab who was riding on his camel called out: Prophet of Allah; I wish you had allowed us to benefit from Amir. Salama continued: When we reached Khaibar; its king named Marhab advanced brandishing his sword and chanting: Khaibar knows that I am Marhab who behaves like A fully armed; and well-tried warrior. When the war comes spreading its flames. My uncle; Amir; came out to combat with him; saying: Khaibar certainly knows that I am Amir; A fully armed veteran who plunges into battles. They exchanged blows. Marbab sword struck the shield of Amir who bent forward to attack his opponent from below; but his sword recoiled upon him and cut the main artery: in his forearm which caused his death. Salama said: I came out and heard some people among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ saying: Amir deed has been wasted; he has killed himself. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ weeping and I said: Messenger of Allah. Amir deed has been wasted. The Messenger ﷺ said: Who passed this remark? I said: Some of your Companions. He said: He who has passed that remark has told a lie; for Amir there is a double reward. Then he sent me to Ali who had sore eyes; and said: I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger or whom Allah and His Messenger love. So I went to Ali; brought him beading him along and he had sore eyes; and I took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; who applied his saliva to his eyes and he got well. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him the banner and Ali went to meet Marhab in a single combat. The latter advanced chanting: Khaibar knows certainly that I am Marhab; A fully armed and well-tried valorous warrior hero When war comes spreading its flames. Ali chanted in reply: I am the one whose mother named him Haidar; And am like a lion of the forest with a terror-striking countenance. I give my opponents the measure of sandara in exchange for sa i. e. return thir attack with one that is much more fierce. The narrator said: Ali struck at the head of Mirhab and killed him; so the victory capture of Khaibar was due to him. This long tradition has also been handed down Through a different chain of transmitters. The Chapter on Horses And Polytheism in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 45 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18353Abu Huraira Allah be pleased with him reported: Allah Messenger ﷺ owed something to a person. He behaved in an uncivil manner with him. This vexed the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ ; whereupon Allah Apostle ﷺ said: He who has a right is entitled to speak; and said to them his Companions : Buy a camel for him and give that to him. They said: We do not find a camel of that age but one with better age than that. He said: Buy that and give that to him; for best of you or best amongst you are those who are best in paying off debt. The Chapter on Camels And Herdsmen And Charity in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 22 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18383It is narrated on the authority of Yahya Bin Yamur that the first man who discussed qadr Divine Decree in Basra was Mabad AlJuhani. I along with Humaid Bin Abdulrahman Himyari set out for pilgrimage or for Umrah and said: Should it so happen that we come into contact with one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ we shall ask him about what is talked about taqdir Divine Decree. Accidentally we came across Abdullah Ibn Umar Ibn AlKhattab; while he was entering the Masjid. My companion and I surrounded him. One of us stood on his right and the other stood on his left. I expected that my companion would authorize me to speak. I therefore said: Abu Abdulrahman There have appeared some people in our land who recite the Quran and pursue knowledge. And then after talking about their affairs; added: They such people claim that there is no such thing as Divine Decree and events are not predestined. He Abdullah Ibn Umar said: When you happen to meet such people tell them that I have nothing to do with them and they have nothing to do with me. And verily they are in no way responsible for my belief. Abdullah Ibn Umar swore by Him the Lord and said : If any one of them who does not believe in the Divine Decree had with him gold equal to the bulk of the mountain Uhud and spent it in the way of Allah ; Allah would not accept it unless he affirmed his faith in Divine Decree. He further said: My father; Umar Ibn AlKhattab; told me: One day we were sitting in the company of Allah Apostle ﷺ when there appeared before us a man dressed in pure white clothes; his hair extraordinarily black. There were no signs of travel on him. None amongst us recognized him. At last he sat with the Apostle ﷺ He knelt before him placed his palms on his thighs and said: Muhammad; inform me about AlIslam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: AlIslam implies that you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; and you establish prayer; pay Zakat; observe the fast of Ramadan; and perform pilgrimage to the House if you are solvent enough to bear the expense of the journey. He the inquirer said: You have told the truth. He Umar Ibn AlKhattab said: It amazed us that he would put the question and then he would himself verify the truth. He the inquirer said: Inform me about Iman faith. He the Holy Prophet replied: That you affirm your faith in Allah; in His angels; in His Books; in His Apostles; in the Day of Judgment; and you affirm your faith in the Divine Decree about good and evil. He the inquirer said: You have told the truth. He the inquirer again said: Inform me about AlIhsan performance of good deeds. He the Holy Prophet said: That you worship Allah as if you are seeing Him; for though you dont see Him; He; verily; sees you. He the enquirer again said: Inform me about the hour of the Doom. He the Holy Prophet remarked: One who is asked knows no more than the one who is inquiring about it. He the inquirer said: Tell me some of its indications. He the Holy Prophet said: That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and master; that you will find barefooted; destitute goat-herds vying with one another in the construction of magnificent buildings. He the narrator; Umar Ibn AlKhattab said: Then he the inquirer went on his way but I stayed with him the Holy Prophet for a long while. He then; said to me: Umar; do you know who this inquirer was? I replied: Allah and His Apostle knows best. He the Holy Prophet remarked: He was Gabriel the angel. He came to you in order to instruct you in matters of religion. The Chapter on Hour And Divine Decree in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 1 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18389It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Ask me about matters pertaining to religion ; but they the Companions of the Holy Prophet were too much overawed out of profound respect for him to ask him anything. In the meanwhile a man came there; and sat near his knees and said: Messenger of Allah; what Allslam is? -to which he the Holy Prophet replied: You must not associate anything with Allah; and establish prayer; pay the poor-rate Zakat and observe the fasts of Ramadan. He said: You have told the truth. He again said: Messenger of Allah; what AlIman the faith is? He the Holy Prophet said: That you affirm your faith in Allah; His angels; His Books; His meeting; His Apostles; and that you believe in Resurrection and that you believe in Qadr Divine Decree in all its entirety; He the inquirer said: You have told the truth. He again said: Messenger of Allah; what AlIhsan is? Upon this he the Holy Prophet said: AlIhsan implies that you fear Allah as if you are seeing Him; and though you see Him not; verily He is seeing you. He the inquirer said: You have told the truth. He the inquirer said: When there would be the hour of Doom ? Upon this he the HolyProphet said: The one who is being asked about it is no better informed than the inquirer himself. I; however; narrate some of its signs and these are : when you see a slave woman giving birth to her master - that is one of the signs of Doom ; when you see barefooted; naked; deaf and dumb ignorant and foolish persons as the rulers of the earth - that is one of the signs of the Doom. And when you see the shepherds of black camels exult in buildings - that is one of the signs of Doom. The Doom is one of the five things wrapped in the unseen. No one knows them except Allah. Then the Holy Prophet recited the folowing verse : Verily Allah! with Him alone is the knowledge of the hour and He it is Who sends down the rain and knows that which is in the wombs and no person knows whatsoever he shall earn on morrow and a person knows not in whatsoever land he shall die. Verily Allah is Knowing; Aware. He the narrator; Abu Huraira said: Then the person stood up an made his way. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Bring him back to me. He was searched for; but they the Companions of the Holy Prophet could not find him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ thereupon said: He was Gabriel and he wanted to teach you things pertaining to religion when you did not ask them yourselves. The Chapter on Hour And Divine Decree in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 1 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18438It is narrated on the authority of Itban Bin Malik that he came to Medina and said: Something had gone wrong with my eyesight. I; therefore; sent a message to the Holy Prophet : Verily it is my ardent desire that you should kindly grace my house with your presence and observe prayer there so; that I should make that corner a place of worship. He said: The Prophet ﷺ came there; and those amongst the Companions whom Allah willed also accompanied him. He entered my place and offered prayer at my residence and his Companions began to talk amongst themselves and this conversation centered round hypocrites ; and then the conspicuous one; Malik Bin Dukhshum was made the target and they wished that he the Holy Prophet should curse him and he should die or he should meet some calamity. In the meanwhile the Messenger of Allah may peace and blessings be upon him completed his prayer and said: Does Malik Bin Dukhshum not testify the fact that there is no god but Allah and verily I am the messenger of Allah. They replied: He makes a profession of it no doubt but does not do it out of sincere heart. He the Holy Prophet said: He who testifies that there is no god but Allah and I am the messenger of Allah would not enter Hell or its flames would not consume him. Anas said: This hadith impressed me very much and I told my son to write it down. The Chapter on in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 10 in Sahih Muslim

So his companion said: Do not say: Prophet; for if he hears you calling him a Prophet then he will be happy. So they went to the Prophet ﷺ to question him about Allah; the Most High; saying: And indeed we gave Mousa nine clear signs 17:101. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them: Do not associate anything with Allah; nor commit unlawful intercourse; nor take a life which Allah has made prohibited; except for what is required in the law ; nor steal; nor practice magic; nor hasten to damage the reputation of an innocent person in front of a ruler; so that he will be killed; nor consume Riba; nor falsely accuse the chaste woman; nor turn to flee on the day of the march i.e. flee from war. - Shubah was in doubt - and for you Jews particularly; to not violate the Sabbath. He said: So they kissed his hands and his feet and they said: We bear witness that you are a Prophet. So he said: Then what prevents you from accepting Islam? They said: Because Dawud supplicated to his Lord; that his offspring never be devoid of Prophets; and we feared that if we follow you then the Jews will kill us.The Chapter on Communication In Fasting And Ablution in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Chapters on Tafsir in Sunan AlTermithi

So when the idolaters heard it they would insult the Quran; the One Who revealed it; and the one who came with it. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10046Narrated Imran Bin Hosain: We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey when some of his Companions fell behind. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice reciting these two Ayat: O mankind! Have Taqwa of your Lord! Verily the earthquake of the hour is a terrible thing... up to His saying: but Allah torment is severe 21:1 & 2. When his Companions heard that; they hastened to catch up with him; since they knew that he had something to say. He ﷺ said: Do you know what Day this is? That is the Day when Adam will be called. His Lord will call him and say: O Adam; send forth those who are to be sent to the Fire. He will say: O Lord! How many are to be sent to the Fire? He will say: From every one-thousand there are nine-hundred and ninety-nine for the Fire and one for Paradise. So the people despaired as if they would not smile again. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the state of his Companions; he said: Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad; you will be counted with two creations who are immense in numbers; Yajuj and Majuj; and those who have died among the progeny of Adam and the progeny of Iblis. He said: So some of the people grief went away; and he ﷺ said: Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! So on the Day of Uhud; when the Muslims were driven back he said: O Allah! Indeed I am innocent before you of what these people - meaning the idolaters - have done; and I beg of You to excuse these people for what they have done - meaning the Companions. Then he went forward and met up with Sad. He said: O my brother! Whatever you do; I am with you! But he was not able to do the same as him. He was found with more than eighty wounds; between blows with the sword; thrusts of a spear; or arrow wounds. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10190Zaid Bin Arqam said: We were participating in a battle along with the Messenger of Allah; and there were some people from the Bedouins with us. So we all rushed toward some water and the Bedouins raced us to it. One of the Bedouins beat his companions to it and he tried to obstruct the pond; he placed rocks around it and he put a leather sheet over it until his companions came. He said: A man among the Ansar reached the Bedouin and he dropped the reigns of his camel to drink; but the Bedouin would not allow him. So he started removing the barriers around the water; but the Bedouin raised a stick beating the Ansari man on the head; and smashed it. He went to Abdullah Bin Ubay; the head of the hypocrite; to inform him he was in fact one of his companions. So Abdullah Bin Ubay became enraged; the he said: Do not spend anything on whoever is with Muhammad until they depart. Meaning the Bedouins. They were preparing food for the Messenger of Allah. So Abdullah said: When they depart from Muhammad; then bring Muhammad some food; and let him and whoever is with him eat it. Then he said to his companions: If we return to AlMadinah; indeed the more honorable will expel therefrom the meaner. Zaid said: And I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah; and I had heard Abdullah Bin Ubay; so I informed my uncle who went to tell the Messenger of Allah. He sent a message to him Abdullah but he took an oath and denied it. He said: So the Messenger of Allah accepted what he said and did not believe me. So my uncle came to me and said: You only wanted the Messenger of Allah to hate you; and the Muslims to say that you lied. He said: I suffered such worry as has not been suffered by anyone else. He said: Later while I was on the move with the Messenger of Allah on a journey; my mind was relieved of worry; since the Messenger of Allah came to me and rubbed my ear and smiled in my face. I would never be happier than with that as long as the world remained. Then Abu Bakr caught up to me; and said: What did the Messenger of Allah say to you? I said: He did not say anything to me; he only rubbed my ear and smiled in my face. He said: Receive the good news! Then Umar caught up with me and I said the same to him as I had said to Abu Bakr. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10339It was narrated from AlNawas Bin Saman; who said: The Messenger of Allah s.a.w mentioned the Dajjal one morning; he belittled him and mentioned his importance until we thought that he might be amidst a cluster of date-palms. He said: We departed from the presence of the Messenger of Allah s.a.w ; then we returned to him; and he noticed that concern in us. So he said: What is wrong with you? We said: O Messenger of Allah! You mentioned the Dajjal this morning; belittling him; and mentioning his importance until we thought that he might be amidst a cluster of the date-palms. He said: It is not the Dajjal that I fear for you. If he were to appear while I am among you; then I will be his adversary on your behalf. And if he appears and I am not among you; then each man will have to fend for himself. And Allah will take care of every Muslim after me. He is young; with curly hair; his eyes protruding; resembling someone from Abd AlUzza Bin Qatan. Whoever among you sees him; then let him recite the beginning of Surah Ashab AlKahf. He said: He will appear from what is between AlSham and AlIraq; causing devastation toward the right and toward the left. O worshippers of Allah! Hold fast! We said: O Messenger of Allah! How long will he linger on the earth? He said: Forty days; a day like a year; a day like a month; a day like a week; and the remainder of his days are like your days. We said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you think that during the day that is like a year; the Prayer of one day will be sufficient for us? He said: No. You will have to estimate it. We said: O Messenger of Allah! How fast will he move through the earth. He said: Like a rain storm driven by the wind. He will come upon a people and call them; and they will deny him; and reject his claims. Then he will leave them; and their wealth will follow him. They will awaken in the morning with nothing left. Then he will come upon a people and call them; and they will respond to him; believing in him. So he will order the Heavens to bring rain; and it shall rain; and he will order the land to sprout; and it will sprout. Their cattle will return to them with their coats the longest; their udders the fullest and their stomachs the fattest. He said: Then he will come upon some ruins; saying to it: Bring me your treasures! He will turn to leave it; and it will follow him; like drone bees. Then he will call a young man; full of youth; and he will strike him with the sword cutting him into two pieces. Then he will call him; and he will come forward with his face beaming and laughing. So while he is doing that; Eisa Bin Mariam; ﷺ ; will descend in eastern Damascus at the white minaret; between two Mahrud; with his hands on the wings of two angels. When he lowers his head; drops fall; and when raises it; gems like pearls drop from him. He said: His the Dajjals breath does not reach anyone but he dies; and his breath reaches as far as his sight. He said: So he pursues him the Dajjal and he catches up with him at the gate of Ludd where he kills him. He said: So he remains there as long as Allah wills. He said: Then Allah reveals to him: Take my slaves to AlTur; for I have sent down some creatures of Mine which no one shall be able to kill. He said: Allah dispatches Yajuj and Majuj; and they are as Allah said: They swoop down from every mount. He said: The first of them pass by the lake of Tiberias; drinking what is in it. Then the last of them pass by it saying: There was water here at one time. They travel until they reach a mountain at Bait AlMaqdis. They will say: We have killed whoever was in the earth. Come! Let us kill whoever is in the skies. They will shoot their arrows into the Heavens; so Allah will return their arrows to them red with blood. Eisa Bin Mariam and his Companions be surrounded; until the head of a bull on that day would be better to them than a hundred Dinar to one of you today. He s.a.w said: Eisa will beseech Allah; as will his companions. He said: So Allah will send AlNaghaf down upon their necks. In the morning they will find that they have all died like the death of a single soul. He said: Eisa and his companions will come down; and no spot nor hand-span can be found; except that it is filled with their stench; decay and blood. So Eisa will beseech Allah; as will his companions. So Allah will send upon them birds like the necks of Bukht milch camels. They will carry them off and cast them into an abyss. The Muslims will burn their bows; arrows and quivers for seventy years. He s.a.w said: Allah will send upon them a rain which no house of hide nor mud will bear. The earth will be washed; leaving it like a mirror. Then it will be said to the earth: bring forth your fruits and return your blessings. So on that day; a whole troop would eat a pomegranate and seek shade under its skin. Milk will be so blessed that a large group of people will be sufficed by one milking of a camel. And that a tribe will be sufficed by one milking of a cow; and that a group will be sufficed by the milking of sheep. While it is like that; Allah will send a wind which grabs the soul of every believer; leaving the remainder of the people copulating publicly like the copulation of donkeys. SunanAlNasai-017-001-11620It was narrated that Huraith Bin Qabisah said: I arrived in AlMadinah and said: O Allah; make it easy for me to find a righteous companion. Then I sat with Abu Huraira; may Allah be pleased with him; and said: I prayed to Allah to help me find a righteous companion. So tell me a Hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; so that Allah might benefit me from it. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The first thing for which a person will be brought to account will be his Salah. If it is sound then he will have succeeded; be salvaged; but if it is not then he will have lost and be doomed. - One of the narrators Hammam said: I do not know whether this was the words of Qatadah or part of the report. - If anything is lacking from his obligatory prayers; He will say: Look and see whether My slave has any voluntary prayers to make up for what is deficient from his obligatory prayers. He led them in two rakahs and then he uttered the salutation. Then those who were with him went away and took the position of their companions before the enemy. Then they came and prayed behind him. He led them in two rakahs and uttered the salutation. Thus the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered four rakahs and his companions offered two rakahs. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25550Abu AlTufail said I said to Ibn Abbas Your people think that the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ walked proudly with swift strides while going round the Kabah and that it is sunnah practice of the Prophet. He said They spoke the truth in part and told a lie in part. I asked What truth did they speak and what lie did they tell? He said They spoke the truth that the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ walked proudly while going round the Kabah but they told a lie; this is no sunnah. The Quraish asserted during the days of AlHudaibiyah Forsake Muhammad and his Companions till they die the death of a Camel which dies of bacteria in its nose. When they concluded a treaty with him agreeing upon the fact that they the Prophet and his Companions would come to Makkah next year and stay at Makkah three days; the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said to the Companions Walk proudly moving shoulders while going round the Kabah in first three circuits. Ibn Abbas said But this is not sunnah. I said Your people think that the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ran between AlSafa and AlMarwah on a Camel and that is sunnah. He said They spoke the truth in part and told a lie in part. I asked What truth did they speak and what lie did they tell? He said they spoke the truth that the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ran between AlSafa and AlMarwah on a Camel. They told a lie that it is a sunnah. A group of his companions also ate with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: Take your hands away from the food. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then sent someone to the Jewess and he called her. He said to her: Have you poisoned this sheep? The Jewess replied: Who has informed you? He said: This foreleg which I have in my hand has informed me. She said: Yes. He said: What did you intend by it? She said: I thought if you were a prophet; it would not harm you; if you were not a prophet; we should rid ourselves of him i.e. the Prophet. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then forgave her; and did not punish her. But some of his companions who ate it; died. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25876Amr Bin Abi Qurrah said : Hudhaifah was in AlMadain. He used to mention things which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to some people from among his Companions in anger. The people who heard from Hudhaifah would go to Salman and tell him what Hudhaifah said. Salman would say: Hudhaifah knows best what he says. Then they would come to Hudhaifah and tell him: We mentioned Salman what you said; but he neither testified you nor falsified you. So Hudhaifah came to salman who was in his vegetable farm; and said : Salman; what prevents you from testifying me of what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? Salman said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sometimes would be angry; and said in anger something to some of his Companions; he would be sometimes pleased and said in pleasure something to some of his Companions. Would you not stop until you create love of some people in the hearts of some people; and hatred of some people in the hearts of some people; and until you generate disagreement and dissension? You know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed; saying : If I abused any person of my people; or cursed him in my anger. I am one of the children of Adam : I become angry as they become angry. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25912Yahya Bin Yamur said : The first to speak on Divine decree in AlBasrah was Mabad AlJuhani. I and Humaid Bin Abdulrahman AlHimyari proceeded to perform Hajj or Umrah. We said : would that we meet any of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ so that we could ask him about what they say with regard to divine decree. So Allah helped us to meet Abdullah Bin Umar who was entering the Masjid. So I and my companion surrounded him; and I thought that my companion would entrust me the task of speaking to him. Then I said : Abu Abdulrahman there appeared on our side some people who recite the Quran and are engaged in the hair-splitting of knowledge. They conceive that there is no Divine decree and everything happens freely without predestination. He said : When you meet those people; tell them that I am free from them; and they are free from me. By Him by Whom swears Abdullah Bin Umar; if one of them has gold equivalent to Uhud and he spends it; Allah will not accept it from him until he believes in Divine decree. He then said : Umar Bin AlKhattab transmitted to me a tradition; saying : One day when we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a man with very white clothing and very black hair came up to us. No mark of travel was visible on him; and we did not recognize him. Sitting down beside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; leaning his knees against his and placing his hands on his thighs; he said : tell me; Muhammad; about Islam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said : Islam means that you should testify that there is no god but Allah; and Muhammad is Allahs Apostle; that you should observe prayer; pay Zakat; fast during Ramadan; and perform Hajj to the house i.e.; Kabah ; If you have the means to go. He said : You have spoken the truth. We were surprised at his questioning him and then declaring that he spoke the truth. He said : Now tell me about faith. He replied : It means that you should believe in Allah; his angels; his Books; his Apostles and the last day; and that you should believe in the decreeing both of good and evil. He said : You have spoken the truth. He said : now tell me about doing good ihsan. He replied: It means that you should worship Allah as though you are seeing him; if you are not seeing him; he is seeing you. He said: Now tell me about the hour. He replied : The one who is asked about it is no better informed than the one who is asking. He said : Then tell me about its signs. He replied : That a maidservant should beget her mistress; and that you should see barefooted; naked; poor men and shepherds exalting themselves in buildings. Umar said : He then went away; and I waited for three days; then he said : Do you know who the questioner was; Umar? I replied : Allah and his Apostle know best. When they went to the mouth of the mountain-pass the man from the Muhajirun lay down while the man from the Ansar stood praying. The man enemy came to them. When he saw the person he realised that he was the watchman of the Muslims. He shot him with an arrow and hit the target. But he took the arrow out and threw it away. He the enemy then shot three arrows. Then he the Muslim bowed and prostrated and awoke his companion. When he the enemy perceived that they the Muslims had become aware of his presence; he ran away. MuwataMalik-017-001-34694Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Abd AlHamid Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Zayd Ibn AlKhattab from Abdullah Ibn Abdullah Ibn AlHarith Ibn Nawfal from Abdullah Ibn Abbas that Umar Ibn AlKhattab set out for AlSham and when he was at Sargh; near Tabuk; the commanders of the army; Abu Ubayda Ibn AlJarrah and his companions; met him and told him that the plague had broken out in AlSham. Ibn Abbas said; Umar Ibn AlKhattab said; all the first Muhajir unto me. He assembled them and asked them for advice; informing them that the plague had broken out in AlSham. They disagreed. Some said; You have set out for something; and we do not think that you should leave it. Others said; You have the companions of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and the rest of the people with you; and we do not think that you should send them towards this plague. Umar said; Leave me. Then he said; Summon the Ansar to me. They were summoned and he asked them for advice. They acted as the Muhajirun had and disagreed as they had disagreed. He said; Leave me. Then he said; Summon to me whoever is here of the aged men of Quraysh from the Muhajirun of the conquest. He summoned them and not one of them differed. They said; We think that you should withdraw the people and not send them towards the plague. Umar called out to the people; I am leaving by camel in the morning; so they set out. Abu Ubayda said; Is it flight from the decree of Allah? Umar said; Better that someone other than you had said it; Abu Ubayda. Yes. We flee from the decree of Allah to the decree of Allah. What would you think if these camels had gone down into a valley which had two slopes; one of them fertile; and the other barren. If you pastured in the fertile part; wouldnt you pasture them by the decree of Allah? If you pastured them in the barren part; wouldnt you pasture them by the decree of Allah? Abdulrahman Ibn Awuf arrived and he had been off doing something and he said; I have some knowledge of this. I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say; If you hear about it in a land; do not go forward to it. If it comes upon a land and you are in it; then do not depart in flight from it. MuwataMalik-017-001-34741Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu Layla Ibn Abdullah Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Sahl from Sahl Ibn Abi Hathma that some of the great men of his people informed him that Abdullah Ibn Sahl and Muhayisa went out to Khaybar because extreme poverty had overtaken them. Muhayisa returned and said that Abdullah Ibn Sahl had been killed and thrown in a shallow well or spring. The jews came and he said; By Allah! You have killed him. They said; By Allah! We have not killed him! Then he made for his people and mentioned that to them. Then he; his brother Huwayisa; who was older than him; and Abdulrahman set out. Muhayisa began to speak; as he had been at Khaybar. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said to him; The greater first; the greater first; meaning in age. So Huwayisa spoke and then Muhayisa spoke. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Either they pay your companion blood-money or we will declare war against them. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; wrote that to them and they wrote; By Allah; we did not kill him! The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said to Huwayisa; Muhayisa; and Abdulrahman Do you swear and claim the blood of your companion? They said; No. He said; Shall the jews swear to you? They said; But they are not muslims. MuwataMalik-017-001-35125And Malik related to me that he had heard that a man came to Abdullah Ibn Umar and said; Abu Abdulrahman I gave a man a loan and stipulated that he give me better than what I lent him. Abdullah Ibn Umar said; That is usury. Abdullah said; Loans are of three types: A free loan which you lend by which you desire the pleasure of Allah; and so you have the pleasure of Allah. A free loan which you lend by which you desire the pleasure of your companion; so you have the pleasure of your companion; and a free loan which you lend by which you take what is impure by what is pure; and that is usury. He said; What do you order me to do; Abu Abdulrahman He said; I think that you should tear up the agreement. If he gives you the like of what you lent him; accept it. If he gives you less than what you lent him; take it and you will be rewarded. If he gives you better than what you lent him; of his own good will; that is his gratitude to you and you have the wage of the period you gave him the loan. The Chapter on Financial Transactions And Loans in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Blood Money in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35157Yahya related to me from Malik from Rabia Ibn Abi Abdulrahman from more than one of the people of knowledge of that time; that those who were killed on the Day of the Camel; the Day of Siffin; the Day of AlHarra; and the Day of Qudayd did not inherit from each other. None of them inherited anything from his companion unless it was known that he had been killed before his companion. Malik said; That is the way of doing things about which there is no dispute; and which none of the people of knowledge in our city doubt. The procedure with two mutual heirs who are drowned; or killed in another way; when it is not known which of them died first is the same - neither of them inherits anything from his companion. Their inheritance goes to whoever remains of their heirs. They are inherited from by the living. Malik said; No one should inherit from anyone else when there is doubt; and one should only inherit from the other when there is certainty of knowledge and witnesses. That is because a man and his mawla whom his father has freed might die at the same time. The sons of the free man could say; Our father inherited from the mawla. They should not inherit from the mawla without knowledge or testimony that he died first. The living people most entitled to his wala inherit from him. Malik said; Another example is two full brothers who die. One of them has children and the other does not. They have a half-brother by their father. It is not known which of them died first; so the inheritance of the childless one goes to his half-brother by the father. The children of the full-brother get nothing. Malik said; Another example is when a paternal aunt and the son of her brother die; or else the daughter of the brother and her paternal uncle. It is not known which of them died first. The paternal uncle does not inherit anything from the daughter of his brother; and the son of the brother does not inherit anything from his paternal aunt. The Chapter on Inheritance And Half Brothers in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hudud in Muwata Malik

Zayd claimed that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; You pray over your companion. i.e. he would not pray himself. The people faces dropped at that. MuwataMalik-017-001-35774Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard some of the people of knowledge say; If someone goes into ihram to do umra and then wants to go into ihram to do hajj as well; he can do so; as long as he has not done tawaf of the House and say between Safa and Marwa. This is what Abdullah Ibn Umar did when he said; If I am blocked from the House we shall do what we did when we were with the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He then turned to his companions and said; It is the same either way. I call you to witness that I have decided in favour of hajj and umra together. Malik said; The companions of the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; went into ihram to do umra in the year of the farewell hajj; and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said to them; Anyone that has a sacrificial animal with him should go into ihram to do hajj and umra together; and he should not come out of ihram until he has finished both. The Chapter on Perfumes Intercourse And Ihram in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik

MuwataMalik-017-001-35831Yahya related to me that Malik said; Someone whose passage to the House is blocked by an enemy is freed from every restriction of ihram; and should sacrifice his animal and shave his head wherever he has been detained; and there is nothing for him to make up afterwards. Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that when the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and his companions came out of ihram at AlHudaybiya they sacrificed their sacrificial animals and shaved their heads; and were freed from all the restrictions of ihram without having done tawaf of the House and without their sacrificial animals reaching the Kaba. There is nothing known about the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; ever telling any of his companions; or anybody else that was with him; to make up for anything they had missed or to go back to doing anything they had not finished doing. The Chapter on The Kabbah In Alahjj in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35833Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that when Abdullah Ibn Umar set out for Makka during the troubles between AlAlHajjaj Ibn Yousif and AlZubair Ibn AlAwam he said; If I am blocked from going to the House we shall do what we did when we were with the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and he went into ihram for umra; because that was what the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; did in the year of AlHudaybiya. But afterwards; he reconsidered his position and said; It is the same either way. After that he turned to his companions and said; It is the same either way. I call you to witness that I have decided in favour of hajj and umra together. He then got through to the House without being stopped and did one set of tawaf; which he considered to be enough for himself; and sacrificed an animal. Malik said; This is what we go by if someone is hindered by an enemy; as the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and his companions were. If some one is hindered by anything other than an enemy; he is only freed from ihram by tawaf of the House. The Chapter on Almadinah And Alhajj in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik
