SahihAlBukhari-017-001-244Narrated Aisha: When the news of the martyrdom of Zaid Bin Haritha; Jafar and Abdullah Bin Rawaha came; the Prophet sat down looking sad; and I was looking through the chink of the door. A man came and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The women of Jafar; and then he mentioned their crying. The Prophet ﷺ ordered him to stop them from crying. The man went and came back and said; I tried to stop them but they disobeyed. The Prophet ﷺ ordered him for the second time to forbid them. He went again and came back and said; They did not listen to me; or us: the sub-narrator Muhammad Bin Haushab is in doubt as to which is right. Aisha added: The Prophet ﷺ said; Put dust in their mouths. I said to that man ; May Allah stick your nose in the dust i.e. humiliate you. By Allah; you could not stop the women from crying to fulfill the order; besides you did not relieve Allah Apostle from fatigue. The Chapter on Assignments And Rewards in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The forbiddance of wailing and crying aloud in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3285Narrated Usaid Bin Hudair: That while he was reciting Surat AlBaqara The Cow at night; and his horse was tied beside him; the horse was suddenly startled and troubled. When he stopped reciting; the horse became quiet; and when he started again; the horse was startled again. Then he stopped reciting and the horse became quiet too. He started reciting again and the horse was startled and troubled once again. Then he stopped reciting and his son; Yahya was beside the horse. He was afraid that the horse might trample on him. When he took the boy away and looked towards the sky; he could not see it. The next morning he informed the Prophet who said; Recite; O Ibn Hudair! Recite; O Ibn Hudair! Ibn Hudair replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! My son; Yahya was near the horse and I was afraid that it might trample on him; so I looked towards the sky; and went to him. When I looked at the sky; I saw something like a cloud containing what looked like lamps; so I went out in order not to see it. The Prophet ﷺ said; Do you know what that was? Ibn Hudair replied; No. The Prophet ﷺ said; Those were Angels who came near to you for your voice and if you had kept on reciting till dawn; it would have remained there till morning when people would have seen it as it would not have disappeared. The Chapter on Horses And Makkah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The descent of AlSakinah and angels at the time of the recitation of the Quran in Sahih AlBukhari

Allah Messenger ﷺ stopped to search for it and the people too stopped with him. There was no water at that place and they had no water with them. So they went to Abu Bakr and said; Dont you see what Aisha has done? She has made Allah Messenger ﷺ and the people stop where there is no water and they have no water with them. Abu Bakr came while Allah Apostle was sleeping with his head on my thigh and said; You detained Allah Apostle and the people where there is no water and they have no water. He then admonished me and said what Allah wished and pinched me at my flanks with his hands; but I did not move because the head of Allah Messenger ﷺ was on my thigh. Allah Messenger ﷺ kept on sleeping till be got up in the morning and found no water. Then Allah revealed the Divine Verse of Tayammum; and the people performed Tayammum. Usaid Bin AlHudair said. When Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived at Medina; Saad went to perform Umra and stayed at Umaiya home in Mecca. Who is this man accompanying you? He said; He is Sad. Abu Jahl addressed Saad saying; I see you wandering about safely in Mecca inspite of the fact that you have given shelter to the people who have changed their religion i.e. became Muslims and have claimed that you will help them and support them. By Allah; if you were not in the company of Abu Safwan; you would not be able to go your family safely. Sad; raising his voice; said to him; By Allah; if you should stop me from doing this i.e. performing Tawaf I would certainly prevent you from something which is more valuable for you; that is; your passage through Medina. On this; Umaiya said to him; O Saad do not raise your voice before Abu AlHakam; the chief of the people of the Valley of Mecca. Saad said; O Umaiya; stop that! By Allah; I have heard Allah Messenger ﷺ predicting that the Muslim will kill you. Umaiya asked; In Mecca? Saad said; I do not know. Umaiya was greatly scared by that news. When Umaiya returned to his family; he said to his wife; O Um Safwan! Dont you know what Saad told me? She said; What has he told you? He replied; He claims that Muhammad has informed them i.e. companions that they will kill me. I asked him; In Mecca? He replied; I do not know. Then Umaiya added; By Allah; I will never go out of Mecca. But when the day of the Ghazwa of Badr came; Abu Jahl called the people to war; saying; Go and protect your caravan. But Umaiya disliked to go out of Mecca. Abu Jahl came to him and said; O Abu Safwan! If the people see you staying behind though you are the chief of the people of the Valley; then they will remain behind with you. Abu Jahl kept on urging him to go until he i.e. Umaiya said; As you have forced me to change my mind; by Allah; I will buy the best camel in Mecca. Then Umaiya said to his wife. O Um Safwan; prepare what I need for the journey. She said to him; O Abu Safwan! Have you forgotten what your Yathribi brother told you? There his spy came and said; The Quraish infidels have collected a great number of people against you; and they have collected against you the Ethiopians; and they will fight with you; and will stop you from entering the Kaba and prevent you. The Prophet ﷺ said; O people! Give me your opinion. Do you recommend that I should destroy the families and offspring of those who want to stop us from the Kaba? If they should come to us for peace then Allah will destroy a spy from the pagans; or otherwise we will leave them in a miserable state. On that Abu Bakr said; O Allah Apostle! You have come with the intention of visiting this House i.e. Kaba and you do not want to kill or fight anybody. So proceed to it; and whoever should stop us from it; we will fight him. Amongst the companions of the Prophet ﷺ there was a man who could not help pursuing any single isolated pagan to strike him with his sword. Somebody said; None has benefited the Muslims today more than so-and-so. On that Allah Messenger ﷺ said; He is from the people of the Hell-Fire certainly. A man amongst the people i.e. Muslims said; I will accompany him to know the fact. So he went along with him; and whenever he stopped he stopped with him; and whenever he hastened; he hastened with him. The brave man then got wounded severely; and seeking to die at once; he planted his sword into the ground and put its point against his chest in between his breasts; and then threw himself on it and committed suicide. On that the person who was accompanying the deceased all the time came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said; I testify that you are the Messenger of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said; Why is that what makes you say so ? He said It is concerning the man whom you have already mentioned as one of the dwellers of the Hell-Fire. The people were surprised by your statement; and I said to them; I will try to find out the truth about him for you. So I went out after him and he was then inflicted with a severe wound and because of that; he hurried to bring death upon himself by planting the handle of his sword into the ground and directing its tip towards his chest between his breasts; and then he threw himself over it and committed suicide. Allah Messenger ﷺ then said; A man may do what seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of Paradise but he is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire and another may do what seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of the Hell- Fire; but he is from the dwellers of Paradise. The Chapter on Good Manners And Deeds in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Ghazwa of Khaibar in Sahih AlBukhari

The Prophet ﷺ sent me with Abu Amir. Abu Amir was shot at his knee with an arrow which a man from Jushm had shot and fixed into his knee. I went to him and said; O Uncle! Who shot you? He survived for a short while and then died. Later I returned and entered upon the Prophet ﷺ at his house; and found him lying in a bed made of stalks of date-palm leaves knitted with ropes; and on it there was bedding. The strings of the bed had their traces over his back and sides. Then I told the Prophet ﷺ about our and Abu Amir news and how he had said Tell him to ask for Allah Forgiveness for me. SahihMuslim-017-001-18018It has been narrated by Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: One of the Prophets made a holy war. He said to his followers: One who has married a woman and wants to consummate to his marriage but has not yet done so; another who has built a house but has not yet erected its roof; and another who has bought goats and pregnantshe-camels and is waiting for their offspring-will not accommpany me. So he marched on and approached a village at or about the time of the Asr prayers. He said to the sun: Thou art subserviant to Allah and so am I. O Allah; stop it for me a little. It was stopped for him until Allah granted him victory. The people gathered the spoils of war at one place. A fire approached the spoils to devour them; but it did not devour them. He the Holy Prophet said: Some of you have been guilty of misappropriation. So one man from each tribe should swear fealty to me. The did so putting their hands into his. The hand of one man stuck to his hand and the Prophet ﷺ said: Your tribe is guilty of misappropriation. Let all the members of your tribe swear fealty to me one by one. They did so; when the hands of two or three persons got stuck with his hand. He said: You have misappropriated. So they took out gold equal in volume to the head of a cow. They-placed it among the spoils on the earth. Then the fire approached the spoils and devoured them. He the Holy Prophet went to him and I followed him until we reached Abu Saif and he was blowing fire with the help of blacksmith bellows and the house was filled with smoke. I hastened my step and went ahead of Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Abu Saif; stop it; as there comes Allah Messenger may peace he upon him. He stopped and Allah Apostle ﷺ called for the child. He embraced him and said what Allah had desired. Anas said: I saw that the boy breathed his last in the presence of Allah Messenger ﷺ. I followed him and I said to him: Dont you feel ashamed that you run ; arent you an Arab? Why dont you stop? He stopped and I had an encounter with him and we exchanged the strokes of swords. I struck him with the sword and killed him. Then I came back to Abu Amir and said: Verily Allah has killed the one who killed you. And he said: Now draw out this arrow. I drew out the arrow and there came out from that wound water. Abu Amir said: My nephew; go to Allah Messenger ﷺ and convey my greetings to him and tell him that Abu Amir begs you to ask forgiveness for him. And Abu Amir appointed me as the chief of the people and he died after a short time. When I came to Allah Apostle ﷺ I visited him and he had been lying on the cot woven by strings and there was no bed over it and so there had been marks of the strings on the back of Allah Messenger ﷺ and on his sides. I narrated to him what had happened to us and narrated to him about Abu Amir and said to him that he had made a request to the effect that forgiveness should be sought for him from Allah. Thereupon Allah Messenger may peace be. upon him called for water and performed ablution with it. He then lifted his hands and said. O Allah; grant pardon to Thy servant Abu Amir. The Prophet had raised his hands so high for supplication that I saw the whiteness of his armpits. He again said: O Allah; grant him distinction amongst the majority of Thine created beings or from amongst the people. I said: Allah Messenger; ask forgiveness for me too. My father came near him; he was riding his camel. He stopped there and listened to him. He had a whip like the whip of the teachers. I heard the Bedouin and the people saying: Keep away from the whip. My father came up to him. He caught hold of his foot and acknowledged him his Prophethood. He stopped and listened to him. He then said: I participated in the army of Athran in the pre-Islamic days. The narrator; Ibn AlMuthanna; said: Army of Gathran. Tariq Ibn AlMuraqqa said: Who will give me a lance and get a reward? I asked: What is its reward? He replied: I shall marry him to my first daughter born to me. So I gave him my lance and then disappeared from him till I knew that a daughter was born to him and she came of age. I then came to him and said: Send my wife to me. He swore that he would not do that until I fixed a dower afresh other than that agreed between me and him; and I swore that I should not give him the dower other than that I had given him before. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: How old is she now? He said: She has grown old. He said: I think you should leave her. He said: This put awe and fear into me; and I looked at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28627Narrated Uncle of Umarah Ibn Khuzaymah: The Prophet ﷺ bought a horse from a Bedouin. The Prophet ﷺ took him with him to pay him the price of his horse. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ walked quickly and the Bedouin walked slowly. The people stopped the Bedouin and began to bargain with him for the horse as and they did not know that the Prophet ﷺ had bought it. The Bedouin called the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: If you want this horse; then buy it ; otherwise I shall sell it. The Prophet ﷺ stopped when he heard the call of the Bedouin; and said: Have I not bought it from you? The Bedouin said: I swear by Allah; I have not sold it to you. The Prophet ﷺ said: Yes; I have bought it from you. The Bedouin began to say: Bring a witness. Khuzaymah Ibn Thabit then said: I bear witness that you have bought it. The Prophet ﷺ turned to Khuzaymah and said: On what grounds do you bear witness? He said: By considering you trustworthy; Messenger of Allah ﷺ ! SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29475Narrated Abdullah Ibn AlHarith ; or Uncle of Mujibah AlBahiliyah: The father or Uncle of Mujibah AlBahiliyah visited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He then went away and came to him again after one year when his condition and appearance had changed. He said: Messenger of Allah; do you not recognize me? He asked: Who are you? He replied: I am AlBahili who came to you last year. He said: What has changed you? You were looking well; then you were good in appearance? He said: I have only food at night since I departed from you. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Why did you torment yourself? Fast during Ramadan the month of patience and fast for one day every month. He said: Increase it for me; for I have more strength. He said: Fast two days. He again said: Increase it for me. He said: Fast three days. He again said: Increase it for me. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29559Narrated Abu Ayoub : Abu Imran said: We went out on an expedition from Medina with the intention of attacking Constantinople. Abdulrahman Ibn Khalid Ibn AlWalid was the leader of the company. The Romans were just keeping their backs to the walls of the city. A man suddenly attacked the enemy. Thereupon the people said: Stop! Stop! There is no god but Allah. He is putting himself into danger. Abu Ayoub said: This verse was revealed about us; the group of the Ansar the Helpers. When Allah helped His Prophet ﷺ and gave Islam dominance; we said i.e. thought : Come on! Let us stay in our property and improve it. Thereupon Allah; the Exalted; revealed; And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah; and make not your hands contribute to your destruction. To put oneself into danger means that we stay in our property and commit ourselves to its improvement; and abandon fighting i.e. jihad. Abu Imran said: Abu Ayoub continued to strive in the cause of Allah until he died and was buried in Constantinople. The Chapter on Enemies And Groups And The Revaltion in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding The Saying Of Allah The Mighty And Sublime And Do Not Throw Yourself Into Destruction in Sunan Abu Dawoud

MuwataMalik-017-001-34583Malik related to me from Abu Ubayd; the mawla of Sulayman Ibn Abd AlMalik from Khalid Ibn Madan who attributed it to the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; Allah; the Blessed and Exalted is kind and loves kindness. He is pleased with it and helps you with it as long as it is not misplaced. When you ride dumb beasts; stop them in their stopping places; and quicken their pace when the land is barren. Travel by night; because the land is travelled faster at night than it is during the day. Beware of pitching tents on the road; for it is the path of animals and the abode of snakes. The Chapter on Peace And Killing in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Judgements in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34625Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard from Bukayr Ibn Abdullah Ibn AlAshajj from Ibn Atiya that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; There is no contagion; no hama and no serpent in a hungry belly. However; the possessor of sick livestock must not stop at the same place as the possessor of healthy livestock; but the possessor of healthy livestock may stop wherever he wishes. They said; Messenger of Allah; Why is that? The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; It is harmful. The Chapter on Live Stock Milk And Graze in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Judgements in Muwata Malik

Tell me one night so that I can stop my journey for it. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Stop on the twenty-third night of Ramadan. The Chapter on Peace And Makkah in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35533Yahya related to me from Malik that Humayd Ibn Oays AlMakki told him; I was with Mujahid while he was performing tawaf around the Kaba; and a man came to him and asked whether the days of fasting for kaffara had to be fasted consecutively; or could they be split up. I said to him; Yes; they can be split up; if the person so wishes. Mujahid said; He should not split them up; because in Ubay Ibn Kaab recitation they are referred to as three consecutive days. Malik said; What I like most is what Allah has specified in the Quran; that is; that they are fasted consecutively. Malik was asked about a woman who began the day fasting in Ramadan and though it was outside of the time of her period; fresh blood i.e. not menstrual blood flowed from her. She then waited until evening to see the same; but did not see anything. Then; on the next day in the morning she had anotherflow; though less than the first. Then; some days before her period; the flow stopped completely. Malik was asked what she should do about her fasting and prayer; and he said; This blood is like menstrual blood. When she sees it she should break her fast; and then make up the days she has missed. Then; when the blood has completely stopped; she should do ghusl and fast. Malik was asked whether someone who became muslim on the last day of Ramadan had to make up all of Ramadan or whether he just had to make up the day when he became muslim; and he said; He does not have to make up any of the days that have passed. He begins fasting from that day onwards. What I like most is that he makes up the day on which he became muslim. The Chapter on Ramadan And Fasting And Deeds in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35535Yahya said that he heard Malik say; Someone who eats or drinks out of neglect or forgetfulness during a voluntary fast does not have to repeat his fast; but he should continue fasting for the rest of the day in which he eats or drinks while voluntarily fasting; and not stop fasting. Someone to whom something unexpected happens which causes him to break his fast while he is fasting voluntarily does not have to repeat his fast if he has broken it for a reason; and not simply because he decided to break his fast. Just as I do not think that someone has to repeat a voluntary prayer if he has had to stop it because of some discharge which he could prevent and which meant that he had to repeat his Ablution. Malik said; Once a man has begun doing any of the right actions Alamal AlSaliha such as the prayer; the fast and the hajj; or similar right actions of a voluntary nature; he should not stop until he has completed it according to what the sunna for that action is. If he says the takbir he should not stop until he has prayed two rakas. If he is fasting he should not break his fast until he has completed that day fast. If he goes into ihram he should not return until he has completed his hajj; and if he begins doing tawaf he should not stop doing so until he has gone around the Kaba seven times. He should not stop doing any of these actions once he has started them until he has completed them; except if something happens such as illness or some other matter by which a man is excused. This is because Allah; the Blessed and Exalted; says in His Book; And eat and drink until the white thread becomes clear to you from the black thread of dawn; and then complete the fast until night-time; Surat 2 ayat 187 ; and so he must complete his fast as Allah has said. Allah; the Exalted; also says; And complete the hajj and the umra for Allah; and so if a man were to go into ihram for a voluntary hajj having done his one obligatory hajj on a previous occasion ; he could not then stop doing his hajj having once begun it and leave ihram while in the middle of his hajj. Anyone that begins a voluntary act must complete it once he has begun doing it; just as an obligatory act must be completed. This is the best of what I have heard. The Chapter on Mischief Fasting Alhajj Bowing And Prostration in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35715Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Thalaba Ibn Abi Malik AlQuradhi informed him that in the time of Umar Ibn AlKhattab they used to pray on the day of jumua until Umar came out; and when Umar came out and sat on the mimbar and the muadhdhins called the adhan; they would sit and talk; and then when the muadhdhins were silent and Umar stood to give the khutba; they would pay attention and no-one would speak. MuwataMalik-017-001-35778Yahya related to me from Malik; from Nafi; that when Abdullah Ibn Umar was doing hajj he would keep saying the talbiya until he reached the Haram and did tawaf of the House and say between Safa and Marwa. He would then say the talbiya until he left Mina to go to Arafa; at which point he would stop doing so. MuwataMalik-017-001-35780Yahya related to me from Malik; from AIqama Ibn Abi AIqama; from his mother; that Aisha; umm Almuminin; used to camp on the plain of Arafa at a place called Namira; and then later she changed to another place called AlArak. She said; Aisha; and those who were with her; would say the talbiya while she was at the place where they were camping; and then; when she had mounted and set out towards the place of standing; she would stop doing so. She continued; Aisha used to do umra when she was in Makka after the hajj was over; in the month of Dhu AlHijja. Then she stopped doing that; and instead would set out before the new moon of Muharram for AlJ uhfa; where she would stay until she saw the new moon; and then; when she had seen the new moon; she would go into ihram to do umra. The Chapter on Almadinah And Alhajj in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35792Yahya related to me from Malik; from Hisham Ibn Urwa; that his father would stop saying the talbiya when he entered the Haram; if he was doing umra. Malik said that someone who went into ihram at AlTanim should stop saying the talbiya when he saw the House. Yahya said that Malik was asked where a man from the people of Madina; or elsewhere; who had begun doing umra at one of the mawaqit; should stop saying the talbiya; and he said; Someone who goes into ihram at one of the mawaqit should stop saying the talbiya when he arrives at the Haram. Malik added; I have heard that Abdullah Ibn Umar used to do that. The Chapter on Perfumes Intercourse And Ihram in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35865Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham Ibn Urwa that Sawda bint Abdullah Ibn Umar; who was in the household of Urwa Ibn AlZubayr; set off walking between Safa and Marwa when doing either hajj or an umra. She was a heavy woman and she began when everybody was leaving after the isha prayer; and she still had not completed her circuits when the first call was given for subh; but finished them between the two calls to prayer. If Urwa saw people doing circuits on riding beasts he would tell them in very strong terms not to do so; and they would pretend to be ill; out of awe of him. Hisham added; He used to say to us about them These are unsuccessful and have lost. Malik said; Someone who forgets say between Safa and Marwa in an umra; and does not remember until he is far from Makka; should return and do say. If; in the meantime; he has had intercourse with a woman; he should return and do say between Safa and Marwa so as to complete what remains of that umra; and then after that he has to do another umra and offer a sacrificial animal. Malik was asked about someone who met another man when doing say between Safa and Marwa and stopped to talk with him; and he said; I do not like anyone to do that. Malik said; If anyone forgets some of his tawaf or is uncertain about it and remembers only when he is doing say between Safa and Marwa; he should stop the say and complete his tawaf of the House apart from that about which he is certain. After that he prays the two rakas of the tawaf; and then begins his say between Safa and Marwa. The Chapter on The Tawaf And Saei in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Business Transactions in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35949Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; made his camel kneel down at AlBatha; which is at Dh AlHulayfa; and prayed there. Nafi said; Abdullah Ibn Umar used to do that. Malik said; No-one should go past AlMuarras when he is returning from hajj without praying there. If he passes it at a time when prayer is not permissible he should stay there until prayer is permissible and then pray whatever he feels is appropriate. This is because I have heard that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; stopped there to rest; and that Abdullah Ibn Umar stopped his camel there also. The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama And Bowing in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Business Transactions in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35955Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah Ibn Umar used to stop for a long time at the first two jamras saying; Allah is greater; Glory be to Allah; Praise be to Allah; and making duas to Allah; but he did not stop at the jamrat AlAqaba. The Book of The Aqiqa in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35992Yahya related to me from Malik from Muhammad Ibn Amr Ibn Halhala AlDili from Muhammad Ibn lmran AlAnsari that his father said that Abdullah Ibn Umar came upon him while he stopped for a rest under a tall tree on the road to Makka; and he said; What has made you stop under this tall tree? He replied that he sought it shade. Abdullah Ibn Umar said; Anything besides that? and he said; No; that was the only. reason he stopped for a rest; and Abdullah Ibn Umar said; The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; If you are between AlAkhshabayn which are two mountains near Mina; indicating the east with his outspread hand; you will find a valley called AlSurar with a tree in it beneath which the umbilical cords of seventy prophets have been cut.The Chapter on Agriculture General in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Fasting in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-36166Yahya related to me from Malik from Abd arRahman Ibn AlQasim from his father that Aisha umm Almuminin said; We went out on a journey with the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and; when we came to Bayda or Dhat AlJaysh; a necklace of mine broke. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; stopped to look for it and the people stopped with him. There was no water nearby and the people were not carrying any with them; so they came to Abu Bakr AlSiddiq and said; Dont you see what Aisha has done? She has made the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and the people stop when there is no water nearby and they are not carrying any with them. Aisha continued; Abu Bakr came and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; had fallen asleep with his head on my thigh. Abu Bakr said; You have made the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and the people stop when there is no water nearby and they are not carrying any with them She continued; Abu Bakr remonstrated with me and said whatever Allah willed him to say; and began to poke me in the waist. The only thing that stopped me from moving was that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; had his head on my thigh. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; slept until morning found him with no water. Allah; the Blessed and Exalted; sent down the ayat of tayammum and so they did tayammum. Usayd Ibn Hudayr said; This is not the first baraka from you; O family of Abu Bakr. Aisha added; We roused the camel I had been on and found the necklace under it. Malik was asked whether a man who did tayammum for one prayer should do tayammum when the time of the next prayer came or whether the first tayammum was enough. He said; No; he does tayammum for every prayer; because he has to look for water for every prayer. If he looks for it and does not find it then he does tayammum. Malik was asked whether a man who did tayammum could lead others in prayer if they were in Ablution. He said; I prefer that someone else should lead them. However; I see no harm in it if he does lead them in prayer. Yahya said that Malik said that a man who did tayammum because he could not find any water; and then stood and said the takbir and entered into the prayer; and then someone came with some water; did not stop his prayer but completed it with tayammum and did Ablution for future prayers. Yahya said that Malik said; Whoever rises for prayer and does not find water and so does what Allah has ordered him to do of tayammum has obeyed Allah. Someone who does find water is neither purer than him nor more perfect in prayer; because both have been commanded and each does as Allah has commanded. What Allah has commanded as far as Ablution is concerned is for the one who finds water; and tayammum is for the one who does not find water before he enters into the prayer. Malik said that a man who was in a state of major ritual impurity could do tayammum and read his portion of Quran and do voluntary prayers as long as he did not find any water. This applied only to circumstances in which it was allowable to pray with tayammum. The Chapter on Peace And Ablution in HodHood Indexing, The Book of The Quran in Muwata Malik
