SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2663Narrated Salama Bin AlAqwa: We went out with Allah Messenger ﷺ to Khaibar and we travelled during the night. A man amongst the people said to Amir Bin AlAqwa; Wont you let us hear your poetry? Amir was a poet; and so he got down and started chanting Huda reciting for the people; poetry that keep pace with the camel foot steps; saying; O Allah! Without You we would not have been guided on the right path; neither would we have given in charity; nor would we have prayed. So please forgive us what we have committed. Let all of us be sacrificed for Your cause and when we meet our enemy; make our feet firm and bestow peace and calmness on us and if they our enemy will call us towards an unjust thing we will refuse. The infidels have made a hue and cry to ask others help against us. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Who is that driver of the camels ? They said; He is Amir Bin AlAqwa. He said; May Allah bestow His mercy on him. A man among the people said; Has Martyrdom been granted to him; O Allah Prophet! Would that you let us enjoy his company longer. We reached the people of Khaibar and besieged them till we were stricken with severe hunger but Allah helped the Muslims conquer Khaibar. In the evening of its conquest the people made many fires. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; What are those fires? For what are you making fires? They said; For cooking meat. He asked; What kind of meat? They said; Donkeys meat. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Throw away the meat and break the cooking pots. A man said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall we throw away the meat and wash the cooking pots? He said; You can do that too. When the army files aligned in rows for the battle ; Amir sword was a short one; and while attacking a Jew with it in order to hit him; the sharp edge of the sword turned back and hit Amir knee and caused him to die. When the Muslims returned from the battle ; Salama said; Allah Messenger ﷺ saw me pale and said; What is wrong with you? I said; Let my parents be sacrificed for you! The people claim that all the deeds of Amir have been annulled. The Prophet ﷺ asked; Who said so? I replied; So-and-so and soand- so and Usaid Bin AlHudair AlAnsari said; Whoever says so is telling a lie. Verily; Amir will have double reward. While speaking the Prophet ﷺ put two of his fingers together to indicate that; and added; He was really a hard-working man and a Mujahid devout fighter in Allah Cause and rarely have there lived in it i.e.; Medina or the battle-field an Arab like him.The Chapter on Animal Sacrifice Meat in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on What kinds of poetry Rajaz and Huda is allowed in Sahih AlBukhari

Abu Talha was a strong; experienced archer who used to keep his arrow bow strong and well stretched. On that day he broke two or three arrow bows. If any man passed by carrying a quiver full of arrows; the Prophet ﷺ would say to him; Empty it in front of Abu Talha. When the Prophet ﷺ stated looking at the enemy by raising his head; Abu Talha said; O Allah Prophet! Let my parents be sacrificed for your sake! Please dont raise your head and make it visible; lest an arrow of the enemy should hit you. Let my neck and chest be wounded instead of yours. On that day I saw Aisha; the daughter of Abu Bakr and Um Sulaim both lifting their dresses up so that I was able to see the ornaments of their legs; and they were carrying the water skins of their arms to pour the water into the mouths of the thirsty people and then go back and fill them and come to pour the water into the mouths of the people again. I turned around and came upon him from behind and hit him on the shoulder with the sword He i.e. the pagan came towards me and seized me so violently that I felt as if it were death itself; but death overtook him and he released me. I followed Umar Bin AlKhattab and asked him ; What is wrong with the people fleeing ? He replied; This is the Will of Allah; After the people returned; the Prophet ﷺ sat and said; Anyone who has killed an enemy and has a proof of that; will posses his spoils. I got up and said; Who will be a witness for me? and then sat down. The Prophet ﷺ again said; Anyone who has killed an enemy and has proof of that; will possess his spoils. I again got up and said; Who will be a witness for me? and sat down. Then the Prophet ﷺ said the same for the third time. I again got up; and Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Abu Qatada! What is your story? On that Abu Bakr AlSiddiq said; No; by Allah; he i.e. Allah Messenger ﷺ will not agree to give you the spoils gained by one of Allah Lions who fights on the behalf of Allah and His Apostle. Umar said; Do you think that I have forgotten the statement of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; i.e.: What will your condition be when you are expelled from Khaibar and your camel will be carrying you night after night? Then I followed Allah Messenger ﷺ lest we should be left behind. At times I urged my horse to run at a galloping speed and at other times at an ordinary slow speed. On the way I met a man from the tribe of Bani Ghifar at midnight. I asked him where he had left Allah Messenger ﷺ. The man replied that he had left the Prophet ﷺ at a place called Tahun and he had the intention of having the midday rest at AlSuqya. So; I followed Allah Messenger ﷺ till I reached him and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have been sent by my companions who send you their greetings and compliments and ask for Allah Mercy and Blessings upon you. They were afraid lest the enemy might intervene between you and them; so please wait for them. So he did. Then I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We have hunted an onager and have some of it i.e. its meat left over. Allah Messenger ﷺ told his companions to eat the meat although all of them were in a state of Ihram. The Chapter on Horses And Ihram in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on If the Muhrimun saw game and laughed and a nonMuhrim understood they are allowed to eat the game in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6332Narrated Urwa: On the day of the battle of AlYarmuk; the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ said to AlZubair; Will you attack the enemy so that we shall attack them with you? AlZubair replied; If I attack them; you people would not support me. They said; No; we will support you. So AlZubair attacked them i.e. Byzantine and pierced through their lines; and went beyond them and none of his companions was with him. Then he returned and the enemy got hold of the bridle of his horse and struck him two blows with the sword on his shoulder. Between these two wounds there was a scar caused by a blow; he had received on the day of Badr battle. When I was a child I used to play with those scars by putting my fingers in them. On that day my brother Abdullah Bin AlZubair was also with him and he was ten years old. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6394Narrated AlBara: We faced the pagans on that day of the battle of Uhud and the Prophet ﷺ placed a batch of archers at a special place and appointed Abdullah bin Jubair as their commander and said; Do not leave this place; if you should see us conquering the enemy; do not leave this place; and if you should see them conquering us; do not come to help us; So; when we faced the enemy; they took to their heels till I saw their women running towards the mountain; lifting up their clothes from their legs; revealing their leg-bangles. The Muslims started saying; The booty; the booty! Abdullah Bin Jubair said; The Prophet ﷺ had taken a firm promise from me not to leave this place. But his companions refused to stay. So when they refused to stay there ; Allah confused them so that they could not know where to go; and they suffered seventy casualties. Abu Sufyan ascended a high place and said; Is Muhammad present amongst the people? The Prophet ﷺ said; Do not answer him. Abu Sufyan said; Is the son of Abu Quhafa present among the people? The Prophet ﷺ said; Do not answer him. Abu Sufyan said; Is the son of AlKhattab amongst the people? He then added; All these people have been killed; for; were they alive; they would have replied. On that; Umar could not help saying; You are a liar; O enemy of Allah! Allah has kept what will make you unhappy. Abu Sufyan said; Superior may be Hubal! On that the Prophet said to his companions ; Reply to him. They asked; What may we say? He said; Say: Allah is More Elevated and More Majestic! Abu Sufyan said; We have the idol AlUzza; whereas you have no Uzza! The Prophet ﷺ said to his companions ; Reply to him. They said; What may we say? The Prophet ﷺ said; Say: Allah is our Helper and you have no helper. Abu Sufyan said; This day compensates for our loss at Badr and in the battle the victory is always undecided and shared in turns by the belligerents. You will see some of your dead men mutilated; but neither did I urge this action; nor am I sorry for it. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6413Narrated Anas: When it was the day of Uhud; the people left the Prophet ﷺ while Abu Talha was in front of the Prophet ﷺ shielding him with his leather shield. Abu Talha was a skillful archer who used to shoot violently. He broke two or three arrow bows on that day. If a man carrying a quiver full of arrows passed by; the Prophet would say to him ; put scatter its contents for Abu Talha. The Prophet ﷺ would raise his head to look at the enemy; whereupon Abu Talha would say; Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you ! Do not raise your head; lest an arrow of the enemy should hit you. Let my neck be struck rather than your neck. I saw Aisha; the daughter of Abu Bakr; and Um Sulaim rolling up their dresses so that I saw their leg-bangles while they were carrying water skins on their backs and emptying them in the mouths of the wounded people. They would return to refill them and again empty them in the mouths of the wounded people. So O Allah ; please send Sakina i.e. calmness upon us; and make our feet firm if we meet the enemy as the enemy have rebelled against us; and if they intended affliction; i.e. want to frighten us and fight against us then we would not flee but withstand them. The Prophet ﷺ led the batch that was with him in one raka; and he stayed in the standing posture while that batch completed their two rakat prayer by themselves and went away; lining in the face of the enemy; while the other batch came and he i.e. the Prophet offered his remaining raka with them; and then; kept on sitting till they completed their prayer by themselves; and he then finished his prayer with Taslim along with them. The Chapter on Prayers And Bowing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Ghazwa of Dhat Al AlRiqa in Sahih AlBukhari

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Yes; in case you are killed in the way of Allah and you were patient and sincere and you always fought facing the enemy; never turming your back upon him. SahihMuslim-017-001-18031Abu Qatada reported: We accompanied the Messenger of Allah my ﷺ on an expedition in the year of the Battle of Hunain. When we encountered the enemy; some of the Muslims turned back in fear. I saw that a man from the polytheists overpowered one of the Muslims. I turned round and attacked him from behind giving a blow between his neck and shoulder. He turned towards me and grappled with me in such a way that I began to see death staring me in the face. Then death overtook him and left me alone. I joined Umar Bin AlKhattab who was saying: What has happened to the people that they are retreating ? I said: It is the Decree of Allah. Then the people returned. The battle ended in a victory for the Muslims and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down to distribute the spoils of war. He said: One who has killed an enemy and can bring evidence to prove it will get his belongings. So I stood up and said: Who will give evidence for me? Then I sat down. Then he the Holy Prophet said like this. I stood up again and said: Who will bear witness for me? He the Holy Prophet made the same observation the third time; and I stood up once again. Now the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What has happened to you; O Abu Qatada? Then I related the whole story; to him. At this; one of the people said: He has told the truth. Messenger of Allah 1 The belongings of the enemy killed by him are with me. Persuade him to forgo his right in my favour. Objecting to this proposal Abu Bakr said: BY Allah; this will not happen. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ will not like to deprive one of the lions from among the lions of Allah who fight in the cause of Allah and His Messenger and give thee his share of the booty. So the Messenger of Allah may peace he upon him said: He Abu Bakr has told the truth; and so give the belongings to him Abu Qatada. So he gave them to me. I sold the armour which was a part of my share of the booty and bought with the sale proceeds a garden in the street of Banu Salama. This was the first property I acquired after embracing Islam. In a version of the hadith narrated by Laith; the words uttered by Abu Bakr are: No; never! He will not give it to a fox from the Quraish leaving Aasi de a lion from the lions of Allah among.... SahihMuslim-017-001-18036It has been narrated on the authority of Salama Bin AlAkwa who said: We fought against the Fazara; and Abu Bakr was the commander over us. He had been appointed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When we were only at an hour distance from the water of the enemy; Abu Bakr ordered us to attack. We made a halt during the last part of the night to rest and then we attacked from all sides and reached their watering-place where a battle was fought. Some of the enemies were killed and some were taken prisoners. I saw a group of persons that consisted of women and children. I was afraid lest they should reach the mountain before me; so I shot an arrow between them and the mountain. When they saw the arrow; they stopped. So I brought them; driving them along. Among them was a woman from Banu Fazara. She was wearing a leather coat. With her was her daughter who was one of the prettiest girls in Arabia. I drove them along until I brought them to Abu Bakr who bestowed that girl upon me as a prize. So we arrived in Medina. I had not yet disrobed her when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me in the street and said: Give me that girl; O Salama. I said: Messenger of Allah; she has fascinated me. I had not yet disrobed her. When on the next day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ again met me in the street; he said: O Salama; give me that girl; may God bless your father. I said: She is for you; Messenger of Allah! By Allah. I have not yet disrobed her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent her to the people of Mecca; and surrendered her as ransom for a number of Muslims who had been kept as prisoners at Mecca. The Chapter on Almadinah And Angels In Alghazawat in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 14 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18083This tradition has been narrated on the authority of Salama who said: We fought by the side of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Hunain. When we encountered the enemy; I advanced and ascended a hillock. A man from the enemy side turned towards me and I shot him with an arrow. He ducked and hid himself from me. I could not understand what he did; but all of a sudden I saw that a group of people appeared from the other hillock. They and the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ met in combat; but the Companions of the Prophet turned back and I too turned back defeated. I had two mantles; one of which I was wrapping round the waist covering the lower part of my body and the other I was putting around my shoulders. My waist-wrapper got loose and I held the two mantles together. In this downcast condition I passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who was riding on his white mule. He said: The son of Akwa finds himself to be utterly perplexed. Wher. the Companions gathered round him from all sides. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got down from his mule. picked up a handful of dust from the ground; threw it into their enemy faces and said: May these faces be deformed 1 There was no one among the enemy whose eyes were not filled with the dust from this handful. SahihMuslim-017-001-18104It has been narrated by Ibrahim AlTaimi on the authority of his father who said: We were sitting in the company of Hudhaifa. A man said: If I were in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; I would have fought by his side and would have striven hard for his causes. Hudhaifa said: You might have done that; but you should not make a flourish of your enthusiasm. I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the night of the Battle of Abzib and we were gripped by a violent wind and severe cold. The Messenger of Allah may peace be him said: Hark; the man who goes reconnoitring and brings me the news of the enemy shall be ranked with me on the Day of Judgment by Allah the Glorious and Exalted. We all kept quiet and none of us responed to him. Again he said: Hark; a man who goes reconnoitring and brings me the news of the enemy shall be ranked with me on the Day of Judgment by Allah the Glorious and Exalted. We kept quiet and none of us responded to him. He again said: Hark; a man who goes reconnoitring and brings me the news of the enemy shall be ranked with me on the Day of Judgtuent by Allah the Glorious and Exalted Then he said: Get up Hudhaifa; bring me the news of the enemy. When he called me by name I had no alternative but to get up. He said: Go and bring me information about the enemy; and do nothing that may provoke them against me. When I left him; I felt warm as if I were walking in a heated bath untill I reached them. I saw Abu Sufyan warming his back against fire I put an arrow in the middle of the bow. intending to shoot at him; when I recalled the words of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ Do not provoke them against me. Had I shot at him; I would have hit him. But I returned and felt warm as if I were walking in a heated bath hammam. Presenting myself before him; I gave him information about the enemy. When I had done so; I began to feel cold; so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrapped me in a blanket that he had in excess to his own requirement and with which he used to cover himself while saying his prayers. So I continued to sleep until it was morning. When it was morning he said: Get up; O heavy sleeper. The Chapter on Enemies And Groups And Killing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 36 in Sahih Muslim

When the enemy advanced towards him and overwhelmed him; he said: Whoso turns them away from us will attain Paradise or will be my Companion in Paradise. A man from the Ansar came forward and fought the enemy until he was killed. The enemy advanced and overwhelmed him again and he repeated the words: Whoso turns them away; from us will attain Paradise or will be my Companion in Paradise. SahihMuslim-017-001-18148It has been narrated on the authority of Yazid Bin Hurmuz that Najda wrote to Ibn Abbas inquiring of him five things. Ibn Abbas said: If I had not the fear of committing sin for concealing the knowledge I would not have written to him. Najda wrote to him saying after praising the Almighty and invoking blessings on the Prophet : Tell me whether the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took women to participate with him in Jihad; if he did ; whether he allotted them a regular share from the booty; whether he killed the children of the enemy in the war ; how long an orphan would be entitled to consideration as such; and for whom the Khums fifth part of the booty was booty. Ibn Abbas wrote to him: You have written asking me whether the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took women with him to participate in Jihad. He did take them to the battle and sometimes he fought along with them. They would treat the wounded and were given a reward from the booty; but he did not assign any regular share for them. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not kill the children of the enemy; so you should not kill the children. Also you have written to me asking me when the orphanhood of an orphan comes to an end. By my life; if a man has become bearded but is still incapable of getting his due from others or fulfilling his obligation towards them; he is yet an orphan to be treated as such ; but when he can look after his interests like grown-up people; he is no longer an orphan. And you have written to me inquiring about Khums as to whom it is meant for. He said to Yazid: Write to him. If he were not likely to fall into folly; I would not have written to him. Write: You have written asking about the woman and the slave whether they would get a share of the booty if they participated in Jihad. You should know that there is nothing of the sort for them except that they will be given a prize. And you have written asking me about the killing of the enemy children in war. You should understand that the Messenger of Allah may peare be upon him did not kill them. and thou shouldst not kill them unless thou knew what the companion of Moses i. e. Khadir knew about the boy he had killed. And you have written asking me about the orphan as to when the period of his orphanhood comes to an end; so that the sobriquet of orphan is dropped from him. In this regard; you should know that the sobriquet orphan will not be dropped from him until he attains maturity of body and mind. SahihMuslim-017-001-18595It is reported on the authority of Sahl Bin Saad AlSaidi that there was an encounter between the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the polytheists; and they fought against one another. At the conclusion of the battle the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bent his steps towards his army and they the enemies bent their steps towards their army. And there was a person his name was Quzman and he was one of the hypocrites among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who did not spare a detached fighter of the enemy but pursued and killed him with the sword. They the Companions of the Holy Prophet said: None served us better today than this man Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked: Verily he is one of the denizens of Fire. One of the people Muslims said: I will constantly shadow him. Then this man went out along with him. He halted whenever he halted; and ran along with him whenever he ran. He the narrator said: The man was seriously injured. He could not stand the pain and hastened his own death. He placed the blade of the sword on the ground with the tip between his chest and then pressed himself against the sword and killed himself. Then the man following him went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I bear testimony that verily thou art the Messenger of Allah; He the Holy Prophet said: What is the matter? He replied: The person about whom you just mentioned that he was one among the denizens of Fire and the people were surprised at this and I said to them that I would bring the news about him and consequently I went out in search of him till I found him to be very seriously injured. He hastened his death. He placed the blade of the sword upon the ground and its tip between his chest and then pressed himself against that and killed himself. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked: A person performs the deeds which to the people appear to be the deeds befitting the dweller of Paradise; but he is in fact one of the denizens of Hell. And verily a person does an act which in the eyes of public is one which is done by the denizens of Hell; but the person is one among the dwellers of Paradise. The Chapter on Lost And Found And The Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 47 in Sahih Muslim

I grant you for your Ummah that it would not be destroyed by famine and it would not be dominated by an enemy who would not be amongst it and would take their lives and destroy them root and branch even if all the people from the different parts of the world join hands together for this purpose ; but it would be from amongst them; viz. your Ummah; that some people would kill the others or imprison the others. The Chapter on Standing For Prayers And Fasting in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 5 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-19151Yusair Bin Jabir reported: Once there blew a red storm in Kufah that there came a person who had nothing to say but these words : Abdullah Bin Masud; the Last Hour has come. He Abdullah Bin Masud was sitting reclining against something; and he said: The Last Hour would not come until shares of inheritance are not distributed and there is no rejoicing over spoils of war. Then he said pointing towards Syria; with the gesture of his hand like this: The enemy shall muster strength against Muslims and the Muslims will muster strength against them Syrians. I said: You mean Rome? And he said: Yes; and there would be a terrible fight and the Muslims would prepare a detachment for fighting unto death which would not return but victorious. They will fight until night will intervene them; both the sides will return without being victorious and both will be wiped out. The Muslims will again prepare a detachment for fighting unto death so that they may not return but victorious. When it would be the fourth day; a new detachment out of the remnant of the Muslims would be prepared and Allah will decree that the enemy should be routed. And they would fight such a fight the like of which would not be seen; so much so that even if a bird were to pass their flanks; it would fall down dead before reaching the end of them. There would be such a large scale massacre that when counting would be done; only one out of a hundred men related to one another would be found alive. So what can be the joy at the spoils of such war and what inheritance would be divided! They would be in this very state that they would hear of a calamity more horrible than this. And a cry would reach them: The Dajjal has taken your place among your offspring. They will; therefore; throw away what would be in their hands and go forward sending ten horsemen; as a scouting party. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: I know their names and the names of their forefathers and the color of their horses. They will be the best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day or amongst the best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day.The Chapter on Almaghazi And Returning Property in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 11 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20804Aisha reported that Allah Messenger may peace be uport him said. Satirise against the non-believing amongst the Quraish; for the satire is more grievous to them than the hurt of an arrow. So he the Holy Prophet sent someone to Ibn Rawiha and asked him to satirise against them; and he composed a satire; but it did not appeal to him to the Holy Prophet. He then sent someone to Kaab Bin Malik to do the same; but what he composed did not appeal to the Holy Prophet. He then sent one to Hassan Bin Thabit. As he got into his presence; Hassan said: Now you have called for this lion who strikes the enemies with his tail. He then brought out his tongue and began to move it and said: By Him Who has sent you with Truth; I shall tear them with my tongue as the leather is torn. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Dont be hasty; let Abu Bakr who has the best know- ledge of the lineage of the Quraish draw a distinction for you in regard to my lineage; as my lineage is thesame as theirs. Hassan then came to him Abu Bakr and after making inquiry in regard to the lineage of the Holy Prophet came back to him the holy Prophet and said: Allah Messenger; he Abu Bakr has drawn a distinction in vour lineage and that of the Quraish By Him Who has sent you with Truth; I shall draw out from them your name as hair is drawn out from the flour. Aisha said: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying to Hassin: Verily Ruh AlQudus would continue to help you so long as you put up a defence on behalf of Allah and His Messenger. And she said: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying: Hassan satirised against them and gave satisfaction to the Muslims and disquieted the non-Muslims. You satirised Muhammad; but I replied on his behalf; And there is reward with Allah for this. You satirised Muhammad. virtuous; righteous; The Apostle of Allah; whose nature is truthfulness. So verily my father and his father and my honour Are a protection to the honour of Muhammad; May I lose my dear daughter; if you dont see her; Wiping away the dust from the two sides of Kada; They pull at the rein; going upward; On their shoulders are spears thirsting for the blood of the enemy ; our steeds are sweating-our women wipe them with their mantles. If you had not interfered with us; we would have performed the Umra; And then there was the Victory; and the darkness cleared away. Otherwise wait for the fighting on the day in which Allah will honour whom He pleases. SahihMuslim-017-001-22260Qazaa reported: I came to Abu Saeed AlKhudri Allah be pleased with him and he was surrounded by people ; and when they dispersed I said to him: I am not going to ask you about what these people were asking. I ask you about fasting on a journey. Upon this he said: We travelled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ towards Mecca and we had been observing fast. We halted at a place. There the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: You are nearing your enemy and breaking of fast would give you greater strength; and that was a concession given to us. But some of us continued to observe the fast and some of us broke it. We then got down at another place and he the Holy Prophet said: You are going to encounter the enemy in the morning and breaking of the fast would give you strength; so break the fast. As it was a point of stress; so we broke the fast. But subsequently we saw ourselves observing the fast with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey. The Chapter on Journeys And Travel And Waiving Of Fasting in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 16 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-22370Abdullah Bin Amr Bin As Allah be pleased with them reported: It was conveyed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that I observe fast successively and pray during the whole night. He sent for me or I met him and he the Holy Prophet said: It has been conveyed to me that you observe fast continuously and do not break it and pray during the whole night. Dont do that. for there is share for your eyes; share for your own self; share for your family; so observe fast and break it; pray and sleep and observe fast for one day during the ten days; and there is a reward for you for other nine days besides the tenth day of the fast. I said: Apostle of Allah; I find myself more powerful than this. He said: Then observe the fast of David ﷺ. He Amr said: Apostle of Allah; how did David observe fast? He the Holy Prophet said: He used to fast one day and break it on the other day; and he did not run from the battlefield as he encountered the enemy. He said: Apostle of Allah; who can guarantee this for me will I also encounter the enemy dauntlessly ? Ata; the narrator of the hadith; said: I do not know how there crept in the matter of perpetual fast. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ ; however; said: He who observed perpetual fast did not fast at all; he who observed perpetual fast did not fast at all; he who observed perpetual fast did not fast at all.The Chapter on Special Days Of Reward in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 35 in Sahih Muslim

He would also say: The Last Hour and I have been sent like these two. And he would join his forefinger and middle finger; and would further say: The best of the speech is embodied in the Book of Allah; and the best of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad. And the most evil affairs are their innovations; and every innovation is error. He would further say:; I am more dear to a Muslim even than his self; and he who left behind property that is for his family; and he who dies under debt or leaves children in helplessness ; the responsibility of paying his debt and bringing up his children lies on me.The Chapter on Truth And Hypocrisy And Hypocrites Character in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 13 in Sahih Muslim

So when they came to the Messenger of Allah; they saw that the people had gained such understanding in the religion that they wanted to punish them their families. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25374Narrated Salih Bin Khawat: On the authority of a person who offered the prayer in time of danger along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the battle of Dhat AlRiqa. One section of people stood in the row of prayer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the other section remained standing in front of the enemy. He led those who were with him in one rakah and remained standing in his place and they completed the second rakah by themselves. Then they turned away and arrayed before the enemy. Thereafter the other section came and he led them in the rakah which remained from his prayer. He then remained sitting in his place and they completed their one rakah by themselves. He then uttered the salutation along with them.Malik said: I like the tradition reported by Yazid Bin Ruman i.e. the present tradition more than other versions I heard. The Chapter on Tashahhud And Enemies in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Whoever Said He Prays One Rakah in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25375Narrated Sahl Bin Abi Hathmah AlAnsari: The prayer time of danger should be offered in the following way: The imam should stand for prayer and a section of the people should stand along with him. The other section should stand facing the enemy. The imam should perform bowing and prostrate himself along with those who are with him. He then should stand after prostration and; when he stands straight; he should remain standing. They the people should in the meantime complete their remaining rakah i.e. the second one. They they should utter the salutation; and turn away while the imam should remain standing. They should go before the enemy. Thereafter those who did not pray should come forward and utter the takbir Allah is most great behind imam. He should bow and prostrate along with them and utter the salutation. Then they should stand and completed their remaining rakah; and utter the salutation.Abu Dawud said: The tradition reported by Yahya Bin Saeed from AlQasim is similar to the one transmitted by Yazid Bin Ruman except that he differed with him in salutation. The tradition reported by Ubaid Allah is like the one reported by Yahya Bin Said; saying: He the Prophet remained standing. The Chapter on Tashahhud And Saluting in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Whoever Said He Prays One Rakah in Sunan Abu Dawoud

Marwan then asked: When? Abu Huraira said: On the occasion of the Battle of Najd. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to offer the afternoon prayer. One section stood with him to pray and the other was standing before the enemy; and their backs were towards the qiblah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ uttered the takbir and all of them too uttered the takbir; i.e. those who were with him and those who were facing the enemy. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered one rakah and the section that was with him also prayed one rakah. He then prostrated himself and those who were with him also prostrated; while the other section was standing before the enemy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then stood up and the section with him also stood up. They went and faced the enemy and the section that was previously facing the enemy stepped forward. They bowed and prostrated while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing in the same position. Then they stood up and the Messenger of Allah may peace be upon prayed another rakah and all of them bowed and prostrated along with him. After that the section that was standing before the enemy came forward and they bowed and prostrated; while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained seated and also those who were with him. The salutation then followed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ uttered the salutation and all of them uttered it together. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two rakahs and each of the two sections prayed one rakah with him and the other by themselves. The Chapter on Tashahhud And Enemies in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Whoever Said That They Say The Takbr Together in Sunan Abu Dawoud

He led them in two rakahs and then he uttered the salutation. Then those who were with him went away and took the position of their companions before the enemy. Then they came and prayed behind him. He led them in two rakahs and uttered the salutation. Thus the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered four rakahs and his companions offered two rakahs. AlHasan used to give legal verdict on the authority of this tradition.Abu Dawud said: This will be so in the sunset prayer. The kingdom of my community will reach as far as the earth was floded for me. The two treasures; the red and the white; were bestowed on me. I prayed to my Lord that He may not destroy my community by prevailing famine; and not give their control to an enemy who annihilates then en masse except from among themselves. My Lord said to me: Muhammad; If I make a decision; it is not withdrawn ; and I shall not destroy them by prevailing famine; and I shall not give their control to an enemy; except from among themselves; who exterminates them en masse; even if they are stormed from all sides of the earth ; only a section of them will destroy another section; and a section will captive another section. I am afraid about my community of those leaders who will lead astray. When the sword is used among my people; it will not be withdrawn from them till the Day of Resurrection; and the Last Hour will not come before the tribes of my people attach themselves to the polytheists and tribes of my people worship idols. There will be among my people thirty great liars each of them asserting that he is Allahs prophet; where as I am the seal of the Prophet s after whom me there will be no prophet ; and a section of my people will continue to hold to the truth - according to the Ibn Isa version: will continue to dominate - the agreed version goes: and will not be injured by those who oppose them; till Allah command comes. The Chapter on Tashahhud And Enemies in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Mention Of Tribulations And Their Signs in Sunan Abu Dawoud

He went out following the footsteps of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ encamped at a certain place. He said: Who will keep a watch on us? A person from the Muhajirun Emigrants and another from the Ansar Helpers responded. He said: Go to the mouth of the mountain-pass. When they went to the mouth of the mountain-pass the man from the Muhajirun lay down while the man from the Ansar stood praying. The man enemy came to them. When he saw the person he realised that he was the watchman of the Muslims. He shot him with an arrow and hit the target. But he took the arrow out and threw it away. He the enemy then shot three arrows. Then he the Muslim bowed and prostrated and awoke his companion. When he the enemy perceived that they the Muslims had become aware of his presence; he ran away. When the man from the Muhajirun saw the man from the Ansar bleeding; he asked him: Glory be to Allah! Why did you not wake me up the first time when he shot at you. MuwataMalik-017-001-34291Yahya related to me from Malik from Yazid Ibn Ruman from Salih Ibn Khawat from someone who had prayed the prayer of fear with the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; on the day of Dhat AlRiqa that one group had formed a row with him and one group had formed a row opposite the enemy. MuwataMalik-017-001-34292Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said from AlQasim Ibn Muhammad from Salih Ibn Khawat that Sahl Ibn Abi Hathma related to him that the form of the prayer of fear was that the imam stood with a group of his companions; while another group faced the enemy. The imam prayed one raka with them; including the prostration; and then stood. He remained standing while they completed the remaining raka by themselves. They then said the taslim; left; and formed up opposite the enemy while the imam remained standing. Then the others who had not prayed came forward and said the takbir behind the imam and he prayed one raka with them; including the prostration. He then said the taslim; while they stood up and prayed the remaining raka by themselves. Then they said the taslim. The Chapter on Imam Led Prayers And Prostration in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Muwata Malik

MuwataMalik-017-001-35425Malik said; I do not see that there is any harm in the Muslims eating whatever food they come across in enemy territory before the spoils are divided. Malik said; I think that any camels; cattle and sheep taken as booty are considered as food which the Muslims can eat in enemy territory. If they could not be eaten until the people had gathered for the division and the spoils had been distributed among them; that would be harmful for the army. I do not see any objection to eating such things within acceptable limits. I do not think; however; that anyone should store up any of it to take back to his family. Malik was asked whether it was proper for a man who obtained food in enemy territory and ate some of it and made provision so that there was some of it left over to keep and eat with his family; or to sell before he had come to his country and make use of its price. He said; If he sells it while he is on a military expedition; I think that he should put its price into the booty of the Muslims. If he takes it back to his country; I see no objection to his eating it and using it if it is a small insignificant thing. The Chapter on Almaghazi And Killing The Enemies And Pagans in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35430Yahya related to me that Malik said that he had heard that Umar Ibn Abd AlAziz used to say; The man on horse-back has two shares; and the man on foot has one. Malik added; I continue to hear the same. Malik; when asked whether a man who was present with several horses took a share for all of them; said; I have never heard that. I think that there is only a share for the horse on which he fought. Malik said; I think that foreign horses and half-breeds are considered as horses because Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; said in His Book; All horses; and mules; and asses; for you to ride; and as an adornment. Sura16 ayat 8. He said; the Mighty; the Majestic; Make ready for them whatever force and strings of horses you can; to terrify thereby the enemy of Allah and your enemy. Surat 8 ayat 60. I think that foreign breeds and half-breeds are considered as horses if the governor accepts them. Said Ibn AlMusayab was asked about working horses; and whether there was zakat on them. He said; Is there any zakat on horses.?The Chapter on Horses And Makkah in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35833Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that when Abdullah Ibn Umar set out for Makka during the troubles between AlAlHajjaj Ibn Yousif and AlZubair Ibn AlAwam he said; If I am blocked from going to the House we shall do what we did when we were with the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and he went into ihram for umra; because that was what the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; did in the year of AlHudaybiya.
