SahihAlBukhari-017-001-089Narrated Mahmud Bin AlRabi AlAnsari: that he remembered Allah Messenger ﷺ and he also remembered a mouthful of water which he had thrown on his face; after taking it from a well that was in their house. Mahmud said that he had heard Itban Bin Malik; who was present with Allah Messenger ﷺ in the battle of Badr saying; I used to lead my people at Bani Salim in the prayer and there was a valley between me and those people. Whenever it rained it used to be difficult for me to cross it to go to their Masjid. So I went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said; I have weak eyesight and the valley between me and my people flows during the rainy season and it becomes difficult for me to cross it; I wish you would come to my house and pray at a place so that I could take that place as a praying place. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; I will do so. So Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr came to my house in the next morning after the sun had risen high. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked my permission to let him in and I admitted him. He did not sit before saying; Where do you want us to offer the prayer in your house? I pointed to the place where I wanted him to pray. So Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up for the prayer and started the prayer with Takbir and we aligned in rows behind him; and he offered two rakat; and finished them with Taslim; and we also performed Taslim with him. I detained him for a meal called KhaZirr which I had prepared for him.- KhaZirr is a special type of dish prepared from barley flour and meat soup - When the neighbors got the news that Allah Messenger ﷺ was in my house; they poured it till there were a great number of men in the house. One of them said; What is wrong with Malik; for I do not see him? One of them replied; He is a hypocrite and does not love Allah and His Apostle. On that Allah Apostle said; Dont say this. Havent you seen that he said; None has the right to be worshipped but Allah for Allah sake only. The man replied; Allah and His Apostle know better; but by Allah; we never saw him but helping and talking with the hypocrites. Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; No doubt; whoever says. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; and by that he wants the pleasures of Allah; then Allah will save him from Hell. Mahmud added; I told the above narration to some people; one of whom was Abu Ayoub ; the companion of Allah Messenger ﷺ in the battle in which he Abu Ayoub died and Yazid Bin Muawiya was their leader in Roman Territory. Abu Ayoub denounced the narration and said; I doubt that Allah Messenger ﷺ ever said what you have said. I felt that too much; and I vowed to Allah that if I remained alive in that holy battle; I would go to Medina and ask Itban Bin Malik if he was still living in the Masjid of his people. So when he returned; I assumed Ihram for Hajj or Umra and then I proceeded on till I reached Medina. I went to Bani Salim and Itban Bin Malik; who was by then an old blind man; was leading his people in the prayer. When he finished the prayer; I greeted him and introduced myself to him and then asked him about that narration. He told that narration again in the same manner as he had narrated it the first time. The Chapter on Leave in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To offer Nawafil in congregation in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1079Narrated Abu Bakra: The Prophet ﷺ said; Time has come back to its original state which it had when Allah created the Heavens and the Earth; the year is twelve months; of which four are sacred; and out of these four three are in succession; namely; Dh AlQada; Dhu AlHijja and Muharram; and the fourth one Rajab Mudar which is between Jumad Ath-Tham and Shaban. The Prophet ﷺ then asked us; Which month is this? We said; Allah and His Apostle know it better. He kept quiet so long that we thought he might call it by another name. Then he said; Isnt it Dhu AlHijja? We said; Yes. He asked What town is this? We said; Allah and His Apostle know it better. Then he kept quiet so long that we thought he might call it by another name. He then said; Isnt it the forbidden town Mecca ? We said; Yes. He asked; What is the day today? We said; Allah and His Apostle know it better. Then he kept quiet so long that we thought that he might call it by another name. Then he said; Isnt it the Day of AlNahr slaughtering of sacrifices ? We said; Yes. Then he said; Your blood lives ; your properties; the sub narrator Muhammad; said: I think he also said :..and your honor are as sacred to one another like the sanctity of this Day of yours; in this town of yours; in this month of yours. You shall meet your Lord and He will ask you about your deeds. Beware! Dont go astray after me by striking the necks of one another. Lo! It is incumbent upon those who are present to inform it to those who are absent for perhaps the informed one might comprehend it understand it better than some of the present audience. Whenever the sub-narrator Muhammad mentioned that statement; he would say; The Prophet ﷺ said the truth. And then the Prophet ﷺ added; No doubt! Havent I conveyed Allah Message to you! No doubt! SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1110Narrated Ibn Abbas: That he differed with AlHurr Bin Qais Bin Housn AlFazari about the companion of Moses; i.e.; whether he was Kha;dir or not. Ubai Bin Kaab AlAnsari passed by them and Ibn Abbas called him saying; My friend Hur and I have differed about Moses Companion whom Moses asked the way to meet. Did you hear Allah Messenger ﷺ mentioning anything about him? Ubai said; Yes; I heard Allah Apostle saying; While Moses was sitting in the company of some Israelites a man came to him and asked; Do you know Someone who is more learned than you Moses ? Moses said; No. So Allah sent the Divine inspiration to Moses:- Yes; Our Slave Khadir is more learned than you Moses asked Allah how to meet him Khadir So Allah made the fish as a sign for him and it was said to him; When you lose the fish; go back to the place where you lose it and you will meet him. So Moses went on looking for the sign of the fish in the sea. The boy servant of Moses who was accompanying him said to him; Do you remember what happened when we betook ourselves to the rock? I did indeed forget to tell you about the fish. None but Satan made me forget to tell you about it 18.63 Moses said: That is what we have been seeking. Sa they went back retracing their footsteps. 18.64. So they both found Kadir there and then happened what Allah mentioned about them in the Quran ! SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1148Narrated Anas Bin Malik: The night Allah Messenger ﷺ was taken for a journey from the sacred Masjid of Mecca AlKaba: Three persons came to him in a dreamy while he was sleeping in the Sacred Masjid before the Divine Inspiration was revealed to Him. One of them said; Which of them is he? The middle second angel said; He is the best of them. The last third angle said; Take the best of them. Only that much happened on that night and he did not see them till they came on another night; i.e. after The Divine Inspiration was revealed to him. Fath AlBari Page 258; Vol. 17 and he saw them; his eyes were asleep but his heart was not--and so is the case with the prophets: their eyes sleep while their hearts do not sleep. So those angels did not talk to him till they carried him and placed him beside the well of Zamzam. From among them Gabriel took charge of him. Gabriel cut open the part of his body between his throat and the middle of his chest heart and took all the material out of his chest and Abdomen and then washed it with Zamzam water with his own hands till he cleansed the inside of his body; and then a gold tray containing a gold bowl full of belief and wisdom was brought and then Gabriel stuffed his chest and throat blood vessels with it and then closed it the chest. He then ascended with him to the heaven of the world and knocked on one of its doors. The dwellers of the Heaven asked; Who is it? He said; Gabriel. They said; Who is accompanying you? He said; Muhammad. They said; Has he been called? He said; Yes They said; He is welcomed. So the dwellers of the Heaven became pleased with his arrival; and they did not know what Allah would do to the Prophet ﷺ on earth unless Allah informed them. The Prophet ﷺ met Adam over the nearest Heaven. Gabriel said to the Prophet; He is your father; greet him. The Prophet ﷺ greeted him and Adam returned his greeting and said; Welcome; O my Son! O what a good son you are! Behold; he saw two flowing rivers; while he was in the nearest sky. He asked; What are these two rivers; O Gabriel? Gabriel said; These are the sources of the Nile and the Euphrates. Then Gabriel took him around that Heaven and behold; he saw another river at the bank of which there was a palace built of pearls and emerald. He put his hand into the river and found its mud like musk Adhfar. He asked; What is this; O Gabriel? Gabriel said; This is the Kauthar which your Lord has kept for you. Then Gabriel ascended with him to the second Heaven and the angels asked the same questions as those on the first Heaven; i.e.; Who is it? Gabriel replied; Gabriel. They asked; Who is accompanying you? He said; Muhammad. They asked; Has he been sent for? He said; Yes. Then they said; He is welcomed. Then he Gabriel ascended with the Prophet ﷺ to the third Heaven; and the angels said the same as the angels of the first and the second Heavens had said. Then he ascended with him to the fourth Heaven and they said the same; and then he ascended with him to the fifth Heaven and they said the same; and then he ascended with him to the sixth Heaven and they said the same; then he ascended with him to the seventh Heaven and they said the same. On each Heaven there were prophets whose names he had mentioned and of whom I remember Idris on the second Heaven; Aaron on the fourth Heavens another prophet whose name I dont remember; on the fifth Heaven; Abraham on the sixth Heaven; and Moses on the seventh Heaven because of his privilege of talking to Allah directly. Moses said to Allah ; O Lord! I thought that none would be raised up above me. But Gabriel ascended with him the Prophet for a distance above that; the distance of which only Allah knows; till he reached the Lote Tree beyond which none may pass and then the Irresistible; the Lord of Honor and Majesty approached and came closer till he Gabriel was about two bow lengths or even nearer. It is said that it was Gabriel who approached and came closer to the Prophet. Fate AlBari Page 263; 264; Vol. 17. Among the things which Allah revealed to him then; was: Fifty prayers were enjoined on his followers in a day and a night. Then the Prophet ﷺ descended till he met Moses; and then Moses stopped him and asked; O Muhammad ! What did your Lord en join upon you? The Prophet ﷺ replied; He enjoined upon me to perform fifty prayers in a day and a night. Moses said; Your followers cannot do that; Go back so that your Lord may reduce it for you and for them. So the Prophet ﷺ turned to Gabriel as if he wanted to consult him about that issue. Gabriel told him of his opinion; saying; Yes; if you wish. So Gabriel ascended with him to the Irresistible and said while he was in his place; O Lord; please lighten our burden as my followers cannot do that. So Allah deducted for him ten prayers where upon he returned to Moses who stopped him again and kept on sending him back to his Lord till the enjoined prayers were reduced to only five prayers. Then Moses stopped him when the prayers had been reduced to five and said; O Muhammad! By Allah; I tried to persuade my nation; Bani Israel to do less than this; but they could not do it and gave it up. However; your followers are weaker in body; heart; sight and hearing; so return to your Lord so that He may lighten your burden. The Prophet ﷺ turned towards Gabriel for advice and Gabriel did not disapprove of that. So he ascended with him for the fifth time. The Prophet ﷺ said; O Lord; my followers are weak in their bodies; hearts; hearing and constitution; so lighten our burden. On that the Irresistible said; O Muhammad! the Prophet replied; Labbaik and Sadaik. Allah said; The Word that comes from Me does not change; so it will be as I enjoined on you in the Mother of the Book. Allah added; Every good deed will be rewarded as ten times so it is fifty prayers in the Mother of the Book in reward but you are to perform only five in practice. The Prophet ﷺ returned to Moses who asked; What have you done? He said; He has lightened our burden: He has given us for every good deed a tenfold reward. Moses said; By Allah! I tried to make Bani Israel observe less than that; but they gave it up. So go back to your Lord that He may lighten your burden further. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Moses! By Allah; I feel shy of returning too many times to my Lord. On that Gabriel said; Descend in Allah Name. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1186Narrated Zahdam: There were good relations and brotherhood between this tribe of Jurm and the Ashariyin. Once; while we were sitting with Abu Mousa AlAshari; there was brought to him a meal which contained chicken meat; and there was sitting beside him; a man from the tribe of Bani Taim Allah who looked like one of the Mawali. Abu Mousa invited the man to eat but the man said; I have seen chicken eating some dirty things; and I have taken an oath not to eat chicken. Abu Mousa said to him; Come along; let me tell you something in this regard. Once I went to the Prophet ﷺ with a few men from Ashariyin and we asked him for mounts. The Prophet ﷺ said; By Allah; I will not mount you on anything; besides I do not have anything to mount you on. Then a few camels from the war booty were brought to the Prophet; and he asked about us; saying; Where are the group of Ashariyin? So he ordered for five fat camels to be given to us and then we set out. We said; What have we done? Allah Messenger ﷺ took an oath that he would not give us anything to ride and that he had nothing for us to ride; yet he provided us with mounts. We made Allah Messenger ﷺ forget his oath! By Allah; we will never be successful. So we returned to him and reminded him of his oath. He said; I have not provided you with the mount; but Allah has done so. By Allah; I may take an oath to do something; but on finding something else which is better; I do that which is better and make the expiation for my oath. The Chapter on Journeys And Travel And Oaths in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on While Allah has created you and what you make in Sahih AlBukhari

Between you and us there are the infidels of the tribe of Mudar; so please order us to do something good religious deeds that by acting on them we may enter Paradise; and that we may inform our people whom we have left behind; about it. They also asked the Prophet about drinks. He forbade them from four things and ordered them to do four things. He ordered them to believe in Allah; and asked them; Do you know what is meant by belief in Allah? They said; Allah and His Apostle know best. He said; To testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah; the One; Who has no partners with Him; and that Muhammad is Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and to offer prayers perfectly and to pay Zakat. the narrator thinks that fasting in Ramadan is included ; and to give one-fifth of the war booty to the state. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1233Narrated Aisha: I asked the Prophet ﷺ about the wall outside the Kaba. Is it regarded as part of the Kaba? He replied; Yes. I said; Then why didnt the people include it in the Kaba? He said; Because your people ran short of money. I asked; Then why is its gate so high? He replied; Your people did so in order to admit to it whom they would and forbid whom they would. So I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We were living in ignorance and in an extremely worst atmosphere; then Allah brought to us this good i.e.; Islam ; will there be any evil after this good? He said; Yes. I said; Will there be any good after that evil? He replied; Yes; but it will be tainted not pure. I asked; What will be its taint? He replied; There will be some people who will guide others not according to my tradition? You will approve of some of their deeds and disapprove of some others. I asked; Will there be any evil after that good? He replied; Yes; there will be some people calling at the gates of the Hell Fire; and whoever will respond to their call; will be thrown by them into the Hell Fire. I said; O Allah s Apostle! Will you describe them to us? He said; They will be from our own people and will speak our language. I said; What do you order me to do if such a state should take place in my life? He said; Stick to the group of Muslims and their Imam ruler. I said; If there is neither a group of Muslims nor an Imam ruler ? By then; the sun eclipse had cleared. The Prophet ﷺ then said; The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah. They eclipse neither because of the death of somebody nor because of his life i.e. birth. So when you see them; remember Allah. The people say; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We saw you taking something from your place and then we saw you retreating. The Prophet ﷺ replied; I saw Paradise and stretched my hands towards a bunch of its fruits and had I taken it; you would have eaten from it as long as the world remains. I also saw the Hell-fire and I had never seen such a horrible sight. I saw that most of the inhabitants were women. The people asked; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Why is it so? The Prophet ﷺ replied; Because of their ungratefulness. It was asked whether they are ungrateful to Allah. The Prophet said; They are ungrateful to their companions of life husbands and ungrateful to good deeds. I asked: Will there be a good time again after that bad time? He said: Yes; but therein will be a hidden evil. I asked: What will be the evil hidden therein? He said: That time will witness the rise of the people who will adopt ways other than mine and seek guidance other than mine. You will know good points as well as bad points. I asked: Will there be a bad time after this good one? He said: Yes. A time will come when there will be people standing and inviting at the gates of Hell. The one most accursed among the people got up; brought the foetus and; when the Prophet ﷺ went down in prostration; placed it between his shoulders. Then they laughed at him and some of them leaned upon the others with laughter. And I stood looking. If I had the power; I would have thrown it away from the back of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ had bent down his head in prostration and did not raise it; until a man went to his house and informed his daughter Fatima; who was a young girl at that time about this ugly incident. She came and removed the filthy thing from him. Then she turned towards them rebuking them the mischief-mongers. When the Prophet ﷺ had finished his prayer; he invoked God imprecations upon them in a loud voice. When he prayed; he prayed thrice; and when he asked for God blessings; he asked thrice. Then he said thrice: O Allah; it is for Thee to deal with the Quraish. When they heard his voice; laughter vanished from them and they feared his malediction. Then he said: O God; it is for Thee to deal with Abu Jahl Bin Hisham; Utba Bin Rabia; Shaiba Bin Rabia. Walid Bin Uqba; Umaya Bin Khalaf; Uqba Bin Abu Muait and he mentioned the name of the seventh person. which I did not remember. One of the people said to my brother Amir Bin AlAkwa: Wont you recite to us some of your verses? Amir was a poet. So he began to chant his verses to urge the camels; reciting: O God; if Thou hadst not guided us We would have neither been guided rightly nor practised charity; Nor offered prayers. We wish to lay down our lives for Thee; so forgive Thou our lapses; And keep us steadfast when we encounter our enemies. Bestow upon us peace and tranquillity. Behold; when with a cry they called upon us to help. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Who is this driver of the camels ? They said: It is Amir. He said: God will show mercy to him. A man said: Martyrdom is reserved for him. Messenger of Allah; would that you had allowed us to benefit ourselves from his life. The narrator says : We reached Khaibar and besieged them; and we continued the siege until extreme hunger afflicted us. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Behold; God has conquered it for you. When it was evening of the day on which the city was conquered. the Muslims lit many fires. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What are these fires? And what are they cooking? They said: They are cooking meat. He asked. Which meat? They said: That of domestic asses. He said: Let them throw it away and break the pots in which it is being cooked. A man said: Or should they throw it away and wash the pots? He said: They may do that. When the people drew themselves up in battle array Amir caught hold of his sword that was rather short He drove a Jew before him to strike him with it. As he struck him ; his sword recoiled and struck his own knee; and Amir died of the wound. When the people returned after the conquest of Kliaibar and he Salama had caught hold of my hand; and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that I was silent and dejected ; he said: What the matter with thee? I said to him: My father and my mother be thy ransom; people presume that Amir sacrifice has been in vain. He asked: Who has said that? I said: So and so and Usaid Bin Hudair AlAnsari. He said: Who has said that has lied. For him for Amir there is a double reward. He indicated this by putting two of his fingers together. He was a devotee of God and a warrior fighting for His cause. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10055Narrated Saeed Bin Jubair: I was asked about those who were involved in the case of Lian and if they are to be separated; during the leadership of mousab Bin AlZubair. I did not know what to say. So I went to the house of Abdullah Bin Umar and I sought permission to enter. I was told he was taking a nap; but he heard me taking and he said: Is it Ibn Jubair? Enter. You would not have come except for a need. He said: So I entered and found him laying on a saddlecloth from his mount. I said: O Abu Abdulrahman Are those involved in Lian separated? He said: Glorious is Allah! Yes. The first who asked about hat was so-and-so the son of so-and-so. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said O Messenger of Allah! If one of us saw his wife committing adultery; what should he do? If he were to say anything; his statement would be a horrible matter; and if he were to remain silent; his silence about the matter would be horrible. He said: So the Prophet ﷺ remained silent and did not answer him. Afterwards he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: The one who asked you about it has been tried by it. So Allah revealed these Ayat from Surat AlNur: And those who accuse their wives and have no witnesses except themselves; let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies by Allah 24:6-10 - until the end of those Ayat. He said: So he called for the man and recited the Ayat to him and admonished him; reminded him; and he told him: Indeed the punishment of the world is less than the punishment of the Hereafter. So he said: Nay! By the One Who sent you with the Truth! I did not lie about her. Then he ﷺ did the same with the woman; admonishing her and reminding her and he told her: Indeed the punishment of the world is less than the punishment of the Hereafter. She said: Nay! By the One Who sent you with the Truth! He is not telling the truth. He said: So he started with the man: He testified four times; by Allah that he is one of the truthful; and the fifth time that the curse of Allah be upon him if he was one of the liars. Then the same with the woman: She testified four times by Allah; that he was one of the liars; and the fifth time that the wrath of Allah be upon her if he was one of the truthful. For indeed; it is part of a man knowledge; that when he is asked about something he does not know; he says: Allah knows best. For verily Allah; Most High said to His Prophet: Say: No wage do I ask of you for this; nor am I one of the pretenders 38:86. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that the Quraish were behaving stubbornly with him; he said: O Allah! Assist me against them with seven years of famine like the seven of Yousif. So He punished them with drought making everything barren; until they ate skins and carcasses - one of them said: bones. He said: And it appeared that smoke was coming out of the earth. So Abu Sufyan came to him and said: Verily your people are being destroyed; so supplicate to Allah for them. He said: So this is about His saying: The Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke; covering the people; this is a painful torment 44:10 & 11. Mansur narrated it as: So this is about His saying: Our Lord! Remove the torment from us; really we shall become believers 44:12. - So shall the punishment be removed from them in the Hereafter? I asked: Tell me about his vigil and prayer at night. She replied: Do you not recite: O thou folded in garments 73:1. I said: Why not ?When the opening of this Surah was revealed; the Companions stood praying most of the night until their fett swelled; and the concluding verses were not revealed for twelve months from heaven. At last the concluding verses were revealed and the prayer at night became voluntary after it was obligatory. I said: Tell me about the witr of the Prophet ﷺ. She replied: He used to pray eight rakahs; sitting only during the eighth of them. Then he would stand up and pray another rakahs. He would sit only after the eighth and the ninth rakahs. He would utter salutation only after the ninth rakah. He would then pray two rakahs sitting and that made eleven rakahs; O my son. But when he grew old and became fleshy he observed a witr of seven; sitting only in sixth and seventh rakahs; and would utter salutation only after the seventh rakah. He would then pray two rakahs sitting; and that made nine rakahs; O my son. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not pray through a whole night; or recite the whole Quran in a night or fast a complete month except in Ramadan. When he offered prayer; he would do that regularly. When he was overtaken by sleep at night; he would pray twelve rakahs. The narrator said: I came to Ibn Abbas and narrated all this to him. By Allah; this is really a tradition. He asked him again; but he did not answer him. Then he asked him again; and again he did not answer him. Umar said; May your mother be bereaved of you; Umar. Three times you have importuned the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; with a question and he has not answered you at all. Umar continued; I got my camel moving until; when I was in front of the people; I feared that a piece of Quran was being sent down about me. It was not long before I heard a crier calling for me; and I said that I feared that a piece of Quran had been sent down about me. He continued; I came to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and said; Peace be upon you to him; and he said; A Surat has been sent down to me this night that is more beloved to me than anything on which the sun rises. Malik said; No-one should recite any of the pieces of Quran that require a prostration after the prayers of subh and asr. This is because the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; forbade prayer after subh until after the sun had risen; and after asr until the sun had set; and prostration is part of the prayer. So no-one should recite any piece of Quran requiring a prostration during these two periods of time. Malik was asked whether a menstruating woman could prostrate if she heard some-one reciting a passage of Quran requiring a prostration; and he said; Neither a man nor a woman should prostrate unless they are ritually pure. Malik was asked whether a man in the company of a woman who was reciting a passage of Quran requiring a prostration should prostrate with her; and he said; He does not have to prostrate with her. The prostration is only obligatory for people who are with a man who is leading them. He recites the piece and they prostrate with him. Some one who hears a piece of Quran that requires a prostration being recited by a man who is not leading him in prayer does not have to do the prostration. The Chapter on Prostration While Reciting Alquran in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Congregation in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34273Yahya related to me from Malik that Abdullah Ibn Abdullah Ibn Jabir Ibn Atik said that Abdullah Ibn Umar had come to them in Bani Muawiya; one of the villages of the Ansar; and said; Do you know where the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; prayed in this Masjid of yours? I told him; Yes; and I pointed out a place near where he was. He said; Do you know the three things for which he made dua here? I said Yes. He said; Tell me them then. I said; He asked that He would not make an enemy from among the non- believers triumph over the believers and that He would not destroy the believers by bad harvests; and he was given both these things. And he asked that He would not make the believers fight among themselves; and that was refused. Malik was asked how many rakas there were in the prayer of asking for rain and he said; Two rakas; and the imam does the prayer before he gives the khutba. He prays two rakas; and then he gives a khutba and makes dua; facing the qibla and turning his cloak inside out. He recites out loud in both rakas; and when he turns his cloak inside out he puts what is on his right on his left; and what is on his left on his right; and all the people turn their cloaks inside out when the imam does so; and face the qibla; sitting. The Chapter on Bowing In Prayers And Mina And Alqiblah in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Ramadan in Muwata Malik

Then they asked him again; and he gave to them until he used up what he had. Then he said; What wealth I have; I will not hoard from you. Whoever has forbearance; Allah will help him. MuwataMalik-017-001-34387Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam from Ata Ibn Yasar that a man of the Banu Asad said; My family and I dismounted to rest at Baqi. My family said to me; Go to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and ask him for something that we can eat; and they began to mention their need. I went to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and found that a man was asking for something; and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was saying; I do not have anything to give you. The man turned away from him in anger; saying; By my life! You give to whomever you wish. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; He is angry with me because I do not have anything to give him. Whoever asks of you while he has an uqiya or its like; has asked with importunity. The man continued; I said to myself about a camel that we had; It is better than an uqiya. Malik explained that an uqiya was forty dirhams. So I returned and did not ask him for anything; and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; sent me barley and raisins after that. MuwataMalik-017-001-34547Malik related to me from Rabia Ibn Abi Abdulrahman from another of the ulama of that time that Abu Mousa AlAshari came and asked permission from Umar Ibn AlKhattab to enter. He asked permission three times; and then went away Umar Ibn AlKhattab sent after him and said; What wrong with you? Why didnt you come in? Abu Mousa said; I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say; Ask permission to enter three times. If you are given permission; then enter. If not; go away. Umar said; Who can confirm this? If you do not bring me someone to confirm it; I will do such-and-such to you. Abu Mousa went out until he came to an assembly in the Masjid which was called the Majlis AlAnsar. He said; I told Umar Ibn AlKhattab that I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say; Ask permission three times. If you are given permission; then enter. If not; go away. Umar said; If you do not bring me someone who can confirm it; I will do such- and-such to you. If any of you have heard that; let him come with me. They said to Abu Said AlKhudri; Go with him. Abu Said was the youngest of them. He went with him and told Umar Ibn AlKhattab about that. MuwataMalik-017-001-34665Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Abi Unaysa that Abd AlHamid Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Zayd Ibn AlKhattab informed him from Muslim Ibn Yasar AlJuhani that Umar Ibn AlKhattab was asked about this ayat - When your Lord took their progeny from the Banu Adam from their backs and made them testify against themselves. Am I not your Lord? They said; Yes; we bear witness Lest you should say on the Day of Rising; We were heedless of that. Surat 7 ayat 172 Umar Ibn AlKhattab said; I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; being asked about it. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; created Adam. Then He stroked his back with His right hand; and progeny issued from it. He said; I created these for the Garden and they will act with the behaviour of the people of the Garden. Then He stroked his back again and brought forth progeny from him. He said; I created these for the Fire and they will act with the behaviour of the people of the Fire. A man said; Messenger of Allah! Then of what value are deeds? The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; answered; When Allah creates a slave for the Garden; he makes him use the behaviour of the people of the Garden; so that he dies on one of the actions of the people of the Garden and by it He brings him into the Garden. When He creates a slave for the Fire; He makes him use the behaviour of the people of the Fire; so that he dies on one of the actions of the people of the Fire; and by it; He brings him into the Fire. The Chapter on Good Deeds To Save Oneself From Hell Fire in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Purity in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34694Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Abd AlHamid Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Zayd Ibn AlKhattab from Abdullah Ibn Abdullah Ibn AlHarith Ibn Nawfal from Abdullah Ibn Abbas that Umar Ibn AlKhattab set out for AlSham and when he was at Sargh; near Tabuk; the commanders of the army; Abu Ubayda Ibn AlJarrah and his companions; met him and told him that the plague had broken out in AlSham. Ibn Abbas said; Umar Ibn AlKhattab said; all the first Muhajir unto me. He assembled them and asked them for advice; informing them that the plague had broken out in AlSham. They disagreed. Some said; You have set out for something; and we do not think that you should leave it. Others said; You have the companions of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and the rest of the people with you; and we do not think that you should send them towards this plague. Umar said; Leave me. Then he said; Summon the Ansar to me. They were summoned and he asked them for advice. They acted as the Muhajirun had and disagreed as they had disagreed. He said; Leave me. Then he said; Summon to me whoever is here of the aged men of Quraysh from the Muhajirun of the conquest. He summoned them and not one of them differed. They said; We think that you should withdraw the people and not send them towards the plague. Umar called out to the people; I am leaving by camel in the morning; so they set out. Abu Ubayda said; Is it flight from the decree of Allah? Umar said; Better that someone other than you had said it; Abu Ubayda. Yes. We flee from the decree of Allah to the decree of Allah. What would you think if these camels had gone down into a valley which had two slopes; one of them fertile; and the other barren. If you pastured in the fertile part; wouldnt you pasture them by the decree of Allah? If you pastured them in the barren part; wouldnt you pasture them by the decree of Allah? Abdulrahman Ibn Awuf arrived and he had been off doing something and he said; I have some knowledge of this. I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say; If you hear about it in a land; do not go forward to it. If it comes upon a land and you are in it; then do not depart in flight from it. He had hair reaching to between his ears and his shoulders like the most excellent of such hair that you have seen. He had combed his hair; and water was dripping from it. He was leaning on two men or on the shoulders of two men doing tawaf around Kaba. I asked; Who is this? It was said; AlMasih Ibn Maryam. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said to him; Dont you know that Allah has made it haram? He said; No. Then a man at his side whispered to him. MuwataMalik-017-001-34785Malik related to me from Zurayq Ibn Hakim AlAyli that a man called Misbah asked his son for help and he thought him unnecessarily slow. When the son came; his father said to him; O fornicator. Zurayq said; So the son asked me to help him against the father. When I wanted to flog him; his son said; By Allah; if you flog him; I will acknowledge that I have committed fornication. When he said that; the situation was confused for me; so I wrote about it to Umar Ibn Abd AlAziz who was the governor at that time; and I mentioned it to him. Umar wrote me to permit his pardon. Zurayq said; I wrote to Umar Ibn Abd AlAziz also; What do you think about a man who is slandered or his parents are slandered and both or only one of them are dead? He said; Umar wrote to me; If he forgives; his pardon is permitted for himself. If his parents are slandered and one or both of them are dead; take the judgement of the Book of Allah for it unless he wants to veil it. Yahya said; I heard Malik say; That is because the slandered man might fear that if that is unveiled about him; a clear proof might be established. MuwataMalik-017-001-34890Yahya said that he heard Malik say; This ayat is abrogated. It is the word of Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; If he leaves goods; the testament is for parents and kinsmen. What came down about the division of the fixed shares of inheritance in the Book of Allah; the Mighty; the Exalted; abrogated it. Yahya said that he heard Malik say; The established sunna with us; in which there is no dispute; is that it is not permitted for a testator to make a bequest in addition to the fixed share in favour of an heir; unless the other heirs permit him. If some of them permit him and others refuse; he is allowed to diminish the share of those who have given their permission. Those who refuse take their full share from the inheritance. Yahya said that he heard Malik speak about an invalid who made a bequest and asked his heirs to give him permission to make a bequest when he was so ill that he only had command of a third of his property; and they gave him permission to leave some of his heirs more than his third. Malik said; They cannot revoke that. Had they been permitted to do so; every heir would have done that; and then; when the testator died; they would take that for themselves and prevent him from bequeathing his third and what was permitted to him with respect to his property. Malik said; If he asks permission of his heirs to grant a bequest to an heir while he is well and they give him permission; that is not binding on them. The heirs can rescind that if they wish. That is because when a man is well; he is entitled to all his property and can do what he wishes with it. If he wishes; he can spend all of it. He can spend it and give sadaqa with it or give it to whomever he likes. His asking permission of his heirs is permitted for the heirs; when they give him permission when authority over all his property is closed off from him and nothing outside of the third is permitted to him; and when they are more entitled to the two-thirds of his property than he is himself. That is when their permission becomes relevant. If he asks one of the heirs to give his inheritance to him when he is dying; and the heir agrees and then the dying man does not dispose of it at all; it is returned to the one who gave it unless the deceased said to him; So-and-so - one of his heirs - is weak; and I would like you to give him your inheritance. So he gives it to him. That is permitted when the deceased specified it for him. Malik said; When a man gives the dying man free use of his share of the inheritance; and the dying man distributes some of it and some remains; it is returned to the giver; after the man has died. Yahya said that he heard Malik speak about someone who made a bequest and mentioned that he had given one of his heirs something which he had not taken possession of; so the heirs refused to permit that. Malik said; That gift returns to the heirs as inheritance according to the Book of Allah because the deceased did not mean that to be taken out of the third and the heirs do not have a portion in the third which the dying man is allowed to bequeath. The Chapter on Inheritance And Heirs in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hair in Muwata Malik

Malik related to me that he heard Ibn Shihab being asked about that and he said the like of what Sulayman Ibn Yasar said. Malik said; That is what is done in our community. It is by the word of Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; And those who accuse women who are muhsan; and then do not bring four witnesses; flog them with eighty lashes; and do not accept any testimony of theirs ever. MuwataMalik-017-001-34917Yahya said that he heard Malik speak about two men who had a pledge between them. He said; If it is possible to divide the pledge; and the due of the one who asked him to wait will not be decreased; half the pledge which is between them is sold for him and he is given his due. If it is feared that his right will be decreased; all the pledge is sold; and the one who undertook to sell his pledge is given his due from that. If the one who asked him to wait for his due is pleased in himself; half of the price is paid to the pledger. If not; the pledgee is made to take an oath that he only asked him to wait so that he could transfer my pledge to me in its form. Then he is given his due immediately. Umar said; Didnt you imprison him for three days and feed him a loaf of bread every day and call on him to tawba that he might turn in tawba and return to the command of Allah? Malik spoke about an investor who paid a man qirad money and the man told him that it was collected with him and asked him to write it for him as a loan. He said; I do not like that unless he takes his money from him and then lends it to him or keeps it as he wishes.
