SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1806Narrated Ibn Abbas: One night I slept at the house of Maimuna. The Prophet ﷺ woke up; answered the call of nature; washed his face and hands; and then slept. He got up late at night ; went to a water skin; opened the mouth thereof and performed ablution not using much water; yet he washed all the parts properly and then offered the prayer. I got up and straightened my back in order that the Prophet ﷺ might not feel that I was watching him; and then I performed the ablution; and when he got up to offer the prayer; I stood on his left. He caught hold of my ear and brought me over to his right side. He offered thirteen rakat in all and then lay down and slept till he started blowing out his breath as he used to do when he slept. In the meantime Bilal informed the Prophet ﷺ of the approaching time for the Fajr prayer; and the Prophet offered the Fajr Morning prayer without performing new ablution. He used to say in his invocation; Allahumma ijal fi qalbi nuran wa fi basari nuran; wa fi sami nuran; waan yamini nuran; waan yasari nuran; wa fawqi nuran; wa tahti nuran; wa amami nuran; wa khalfi nuran; wajal li nuran. Kuraib a sub narrator said; I have forgotten seven other words; which the Prophet ﷺ mentioned in this invocation. Ayoub said that Hafsa narrated to him a narration similar to that of Muhammad in which it was said that the bath was to be given for an odd number of times; and the numbers 3; 5 or 7 were mentioned. So Ibn Abbas sent me the father of Ibrabim to Abu Ayoub AlAnsirl to ask him about it. So I went to him and found him taking bath behind two poles covered by a cloth. I gave him salutation; whereupon be asked: Who is this? I said: I am Abdullah Bin Hunain. Abdullah Bin Abbas has sent me to you to find out how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ washed his head in the state of Ihram. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to answer the call of nature before the morning prayer. and I carried along with him a jar full of water. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came back to me after relieving himself. I began to pour water upon his hands out of the jar and he washed his hands three times; then washed his face three times. He then tried to tuck up the sleeves of his cloak upon his forearms but since the sleeves were tight he inserted his hands in the cloak and then brought out his forearms up to the elbow below the cloak; and then wiped over his shoes and then moved on. Mughira said: I also moved along with him till he came to the people and he found that they had been saying their prayer under the Imamah of Abdulrahman Bin Auf. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ could get one rak ah out of two and said this last rakah along with the people. When Abdulrahman Bin Auf pronounced the salutation; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up to complete the prayer. This made the Muslims terrified and most of them began to recite the glory of the Lord. SahihMuslim-017-001-23989Amr Bin Abasa Sulami reported: In the state of the Ignorance before embracing Islam ; I used to think that the people were in error and they were not on anything which may be called the right path and worshipped the idols. Meanwhile; I heard of a man in Mecca who was giving news on the basis of his prophetic knowledge ; so I sat on my ride and went to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was at that time hiding as his people had made life hard for him. I adopted a friendly attitude towards the Meccans and thus managed to enter Mecca and go to him the Holy Prophet and I said to him: Who are you? He said: I am a Prophet of Allah. I again said: Who is a Prophet? He said: I am a Prophet in the sense that I have been sent by Allah. I said: What is that which you have been sent with? He said: I have been sent to join ties of relationship with kindness and affection ; to break the Idols; and to proclaim the oneness of Allah in a manner that nothing is to be associated with Him. I said: Who is with you in this in these beliefs and practices ? He said: A free man and a slave. He the narrator said: Abu Bakr and Bilal were there with him among those who had embraced Islam by that time. I said: I intend to follow you. He said: During these days you would not be able to do so. Dont you see the hard condition under which I and my people are living? You better go back to your people and when you hear that I have been granted victory; you come to me. So I went to my family. I was in my home when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Medina. I was among my people and used to seek news and ask people when he arrived in Medina. Then a group of people belonging to Yathrib Medina came. I said to them : How is that person getting on who has come to Medina? They said: The people are hastening to him; while his people the polytheists of Mecca planned to kill him; but they could not do so. I on hearing it came to Medina and went to him and said: Messenger of Allah; do you recognise me? He said: Yes; you are the same man who met me at Mecca. I said: It is so. I again said: Prophet of Allah; tell me that which Allah has taught you and which I do not know; tell me about the prayer. He said: Observe the dawn prayer; then stop praying when the sun is rising till it is fully up; for when it rises it comes up between the horns of Satan; and the unbelievers prostrate themselves to it at that time. Then pray; for the prayer is witnessed and attended by angels till the shadow becomes about the length of a lance; then cease prayer; for at that time Hell is heated up. Then when the shadow moves forward; pray; for the prayer is witnessed and attended by angels; till you pray the afternoon prayer; then cease prayer till the sun sets; for it sets between the horns of devil; and at that time the unbelievers prostrate themselves before it. I said: Apostle of Allah; tell me about ablution also. He said: None of you who uses water for ablution and rinses his mouth; snuffs up water and blows it; but the sins of his face; and his mouth and his nostrils fall out. When he washes his face; as Allah has commanded him; the sins of his face fall out from the end of his beard with water. Then when he washes his forearms up to the elbows; the sins of his arms fall out along with water from his finger-tips. And when he wipes his head; the sins of his head fall out from the points of his hair along with water. And when he washes his feet up to the ankles; the sins of his feet fall out from his toes along with water. And if he stands to pray and praises Allah; lauds Him and glorifies Him with what becomes Him and shows wholehearted devotion to Allah; his sins would depart leaving him as innocent as he was on the day his mother bore him. Amr Bin Abasa narrated this hadith to Abu Umama; a Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and Abu Umama said to him: Amr Bin Abasa; think what you are saying that such a great reward is given to a man at one place only in the act of ablution and prayer. Upon this Amr said: Abu Umama; I have grown old and my bones have become weak and I am at the door of death; what impetus is there for me to attribute a lie to Allah and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? Had I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once; twice; or three times even seven times ; I would have never narrated it; but I have heard it from him on occasions more than these. The Chapter on Prayers And Bowing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 52 in Sahih Muslim

He abandoned the main road before the dawn prayer; and I also did the same along with him. The Prophet ﷺ made his camel kneel down and went to relieve himself. He then came back and I poured water upon his hands from the skin-vessel. He then washed his hands and face. He tried to get his forearms out of the gown ; but the sleeves of the gown were too narrow; so he entered back both his hands; and brought them out from beneath the gown. He washed his forearms up to the elbows and wiped his head and wiped over his socks.80 He then mounted his camel and we began to proceed until we found people offering the prayer. They brought forward Abdulrahman Bin Awuf who was leading them in prayer. The Prophet ﷺ stood in the row side by side with other Muslims. He performed the second rakah of the prayer behind Abdulrahman Bin Awuf. Then Abdulrahman uttered salutation. The Prophet ﷺ stood to perform the remaining rakah of the prayer. The Muslims were alarmed. They began to utter tasbih Subhan Allah presuming that they had offered prayer before the Prophet ﷺ had done. I said; Yes. One of the sadaqa camels. Abdullah Ibn AlArqam said; Would you want a stout man on a hot day to wash for you what is under his lower garment and its folds; and then give it to you to drink? I was angry and said; May Allah forgive you! Why do you say such things to me? Abdullah Ibn AlArqam said; Sadaqa is the impurities of people which they wash off themselves. The Chapter on Menstruation And Charity in HodHood Indexing, The Book of The Two Ids in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35446Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard the people of knowledge say that martyrs in the way of Allah were not washed; nor were any of them prayed over. They were buried in the garments in which they were slain. Malik said; That is the sunna for someone who is killed on the battleground and is not reached until he is already dead. Someone who is carried off and lives for as long as Allah wills after it; is washed and prayed over as was Umar Ibn AlKhattab. The Chapter on Prayers And The Masjid in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik

Some people said that he would be buried near the mimbar; and others said that he would be buried in AlBaqi. Abu Bakr AlSiddiq came and said; I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say; No prophet was ever buried except in the place where he died. MuwataMalik-017-001-36120Yahya related to me from Malik that Said Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Ruqash said; I saw Anas Ibn Malik come and squat and urinate. Then water was brought and he did Ablution. He washed his face; then his arms to the elbows; and then he wiped his head and wiped over his leather socks. Then he came to the Masjid and prayed. Yahya said that Malik was asked whether a man who did Ablution for prayerand then put on his leather socks; and then urinated and took them off and put them back on again; should begin Ablution afresh. Malik replied; He should take off his socks and wash his feet. Only someone who puts on leather socks when his feet are already ritually purified by Ablution can wipe over them. Someone who puts on leather socks when his feet are not ritually purified by Ablution; should not wipe over them. Yahya said that Malik was asked about a man who did Ablution with his leather socks on and forgot to wipe over them until the water was dry and he had prayed; and he said; He should wipe over his socks and repeat the prayer but not repeat Ablution. MuwataMalik-017-001-36146Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that when Abdullah Ibn Umar used to do ghusl for major ritual impurity he would begin by pouring water on his right hand and washing it. MuwataMalik-017-001-36160Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham Ibn Urwa from his father fromYahyaibn Abdulrahman Ibn Ha ib that he had set off for Mumra with Umar Ibn AlKhattab in a party of riders; among whom was Amr Ibn AlAs. Umar Ibn AlKhattab dismounted for a rest late at night on a certain road near a certain oasis. Umar had a wet dream when it was almost dawn and there was no water among the riding party. He rode until he came to some water and then he began to wash off what he saw of the semen until it had gone. Amr Ibn AlAs said to him; It is morning and there are clothes with us; so allow your garment to be washed. Umar Ibn AlKhattab said to him; I am surprised at you; Amr Ibn AlAs! Even if you could find clothes; would everybody be able to find them? By Allah; if I were to do it; it would become a sunna. No; I wash what I see; and I sprinkle with water what I do not see. Malik spoke about a man who found traces of a wet dream on his clothes and did not know when it had occurred and did not remember anything he had seen in his sleep. He said; Let the intention of his ghusl be from the time when he last slept; and if he has prayed since that last sleep he should repeat it. This is because often a man has a wet dream and sees nothing; and often he sees something but does not have an emission. But; if he finds liquid on his garment he must do ghusl. This is because Umar repeated what he had prayed after the time he had last slept and not what was before it.The Chapter on Ablution After Dreams Menstruation And Sexual Intercourse in HodHood Indexing, The Book of The Quran in Muwata Malik
