Then He causes to grow, therewith, produce of various colours: then it withers; thou wilt see it grow yellow; then He makes it dry up and crumble away. Truly, in this, is a Message of remembrance to men of understanding.

Butter and honey were dropping from it and I saw the people gathering it in their hands; some gathering much and some a little. And behold; there was a rope extending from the earth to the sky; and I saw that you the Prophet held it and went up; and then another man held it and went up and after that another third held it and went up; and then after another fourth man held it; but it broke and then got connected again. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Let my father be sacrificed for you! Allow me to interpret this dream. The Prophet ﷺ said to him; Interpret it. Abu Bakr said; The cloud with shade symbolizes Islam; and the butter and honey dropping from it; symbolizes the Quran; its sweetness dropping and some people learning much of the Quran and some a little. The rope which is extended from the sky to the earth is the Truth which you the Prophet are following. You follow it and Allah will raise you high with it; and then another man will follow it and will rise up with it and another person will follow it and then another man will follow it but it will break and then it will be connected for him and he will rise up with it. O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Let my father be sacrificed for you! Am I right or wrong? The Prophet replied; You are right in some of it and wrong in some. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Prophet! By Allah; you must tell me in what I was wrong. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3285Narrated Usaid Bin Hudair: That while he was reciting Surat AlBaqara The Cow at night; and his horse was tied beside him; the horse was suddenly startled and troubled. When he stopped reciting; the horse became quiet; and when he started again; the horse was startled again. Then he stopped reciting and the horse became quiet too. He started reciting again and the horse was startled and troubled once again. Then he stopped reciting and his son; Yahya was beside the horse. He was afraid that the horse might trample on him. When he took the boy away and looked towards the sky; he could not see it. The next morning he informed the Prophet who said; Recite; O Ibn Hudair! Recite; O Ibn Hudair! Ibn Hudair replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! My son; Yahya was near the horse and I was afraid that it might trample on him; so I looked towards the sky; and went to him. When I looked at the sky; I saw something like a cloud containing what looked like lamps; so I went out in order not to see it. The Prophet ﷺ said; Do you know what that was? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-332Narrated Masruq: We were with Abdullah and he said; When the Prophet ﷺ saw the refusal of the people to accept Islam he said; O Allah! Send famine years on them for seven years like the seven years of famine during the time of Prophet Joseph. So famine overtook them for one year and destroyed every kind of life to such an extent that the people started eating hides; carcasses and rotten dead animals. Whenever one of them looked towards the sky; he would imagine himself to see smoke because of hunger. So Abu Sufyan went to the Prophet ﷺ and said; O Muhammad! You order people to obey Allah and to keep good relations with kith and kin. No doubt the people of your tribe are dying; so please pray to Allah for them. So Allah revealed: Then watch you For the day that The sky will bring forth a kind Of smoke Plainly visible... Verily! SahihAlBukhari-017-001-337Narrated Sharik Bin Abdullah Bin Abi Namir: I heard Anas Bin Malik saying; On a Friday a person entered the main Masjid through the gate facing the pulpit while Allah Messenger ﷺ was delivering the Khutba. The man stood in front of Allah Apostle and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The livestock are dying and the roads are cut off; so please pray to Allah for rain. Anas added; Allah Messenger ﷺ ﷺ raised both his hands and said; O Allah! Bless us with rain! O Allah! Bless us with rain! O Allah! Bless us with rain! Anas added; By Allah; we could not see any trace of cloud in the sky and there was no building or a house between us and the mountains of Sila. Anas added; A heavy cloud like a shield appeared from behind it i.e. Sila Mountain. When it came in the middle of the sky; it spread and then rained. Anas further said; By Allah! We could not see the sun for a week. Next Friday a person entered through the same gate and at that time Allah Messenger ﷺ was delivering the Friday Khutba. The man stood in front of him and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The livestock are dying and the roads are cut off; please pray to Allah to withhold rain. Anas added; Allah Messenger ﷺ I raised both his hands and said; O Allah! Round about us and not on us. O Allah! On the plateaus; on the mountains; on the hills; in the valleys and on the places where trees grow. So the rain stopped and we came out walking in the sun. Sharik asked Anas whether it was the same person who had asked for the rain the last Friday. The next Friday; a person entered through the same gate and Allah Messenger ﷺ was delivering the Friday Khutba and the man stood in front of him and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! There is no rain drought ; the trees have dried and the livestock are destroyed; Please pray to Allah for rain. So Allah Messenger ﷺ said twice; O Allah! Bless us with rain. By Allah; there was no trace of cloud in the sky and suddenly the sky became overcast with clouds and it started raining. The Prophet ﷺ came down the pulpit and offered the prayer. When he came back from the prayer to his house it was raining and it rained continuously till the next Friday. When the Prophet started delivering the Friday Khutba sermon ; the people started shouting and said to him; The houses have collapsed and the roads are cut off; so please pray to Allah to withhold the rain. So the Prophet ﷺ smiled and said; O Allah! Round about us and not on us. So the sky became clear over Medina but it kept on raining over the outskirts of Medina and not a single drop of rain fell over Median. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-357Narrated Anas Bin Malik: In the lifetime of Allah Messenger ﷺ ﷺ the people were afflicted with a famine year. While the Prophet was delivering the Khutba sermon on the pulpit on a Friday; a Bedouin stood up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The livestock are dying and the families offspring are hungry: please pray to Allah to bless us with rain. Allah Messenger ﷺ raised both his hands towards the sky and at that time there was not a trace of cloud in they sky. Then the clouds started gathering like mountains. Before he got down from the pulpit I saw rainwater trickling down his beard. It rained that day; the next day; the third day; the fourth day and till the next Friday; when the same Bedouin or some other person stood up during the Friday Khutba and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The houses have collapsed and the livestock are drowned. Please invoke Allah for us. So Allah Messenger ﷺ raised both his hands and said; O Allah! Around us and not on us. Whichever side the Prophet ﷺ directed his hand; the clouds dispersed from there till a hole in the clouds was formed over Medina. The houses have collapsed; our possessions and livestock have been drowned; Please invoke Allah to protect us. So the Prophet ﷺ raised both his hands and said; O Allah! Round about us and not on us. So; in whatever direction he pointed with his hands; the clouds dispersed and cleared away; and Medina sky became clear as a hole in between the clouds. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5072Narrated Abdullah Bin Umar: The Prophet ﷺ said; While three men were walking; It started raining and they took shelter refuge in a cave in a mountain. A big rock rolled down from the mountain and closed the mouth of the cave. They said to each other; Think of good deeds which you did for Allah sake only; and invoke Allah by giving reference to those deeds so that He may remove this rock from you. One of them said; O Allah! I had old parents and small children and I used to graze the sheep for them. On my return to them in the evening; I used to milk the sheep and start providing my parents first of all before my children. One day I was delayed and came late at night and found my parents sleeping. I milked the sheep as usual and stood by their heads. I hated to wake them up and disliked to give milk to my children before them; although my children were weeping because of hunger at my feet till the day dawned. O Allah! If I did this for Your sake only; kindly remove the rock so that we could see the sky through it. So; Allah removed the rock a little and they saw the sky. The second man said; O Allah! I was in love with a cousin of mine like the deepest love a man may have for a woman. I wanted to outrage her chastity but she refused unless I gave her one hundred Dinars. So; I struggled to collect that amount. And when I sat between her legs; she said; O Allah slave! Be afraid of Allah and do not deflower me except rightfully by marriage. So; I got up. O Allah! If I did it for Your sake only; please remove the rock. The rock shifted a little more. Then the third man said; O Allah! I employed a laborer for a Faraq of rice and when he finished his job and demanded his right; I presented it to him; but he refused to take it. So; I sowed the rice many time till I gathered cows and their shepherd from the yield. Then after some time He came and said to me; Fear Allah and give me my right. I said; Go and take those cows and the shepherd. He said; Be afraid of Allah! Dont mock at me. I said; I am not mocking at you. Take all that. So; he took all that. O Allah! If I did that for Your sake only; please remove the rest of the rock. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5163Narrated Abu Said: We practiced Itikaf with Allah Messenger ﷺ in the middle ten days of Ramadan. In the morning of the twentieth of Ramadan we shifted our baggage; but Allah Messenger ﷺ came to us and said; Whoever was m Itikaf should return to his place of Itikaf; for I saw i.e. was informed about the date of this Night of Qadr and saw myself prostrating in mud and water. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6441Narrated Aisha: Abu Bakr asked the Prophet ﷺ to allow him to go out of Mecca when he was greatly annoyed by the infidels. But the Prophet ﷺ said to him; Wait. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Do you hope that you will be allowed to migrate ? Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; I hope so. So Abu Bakr waited for him till one day Allah Messenger ﷺ came at noon time and addressed him saying Let whoever is present with you; now leave you. Abu Bakr said; None is present but my two daughters. The Prophet ﷺ said; Have you noticed that I have been allowed to go out to migrate ? Abu Bakr said; O Allah Apostle; I would like to accompany you. The Prophet ﷺ said; You will accompany me. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have got two camels which I had prepared and kept ready for our going out. So he gave one of the two camels to the Prophet ﷺ and it was AlJada. They both rode and proceeded till they reached the Cave at the mountain of Thaur where they hid themselves. Amir Bin Fuhaira was the slave of Abdullah Bin AlTufail Bin Sakhbara Aisha brother from her mother side. Abu Bakr had a milch camel. Amir used to go with it i.e. the milch camel in the afternoon and come back to them before noon by setting out towards them in the early morning when it was still dark and then he would take it to the pasture so that none of the shepherds would be aware of his job. When the Prophet and Abu Bakr went away from the Cave ; he i.e. Amir too went along with them and they both used to make him ride at the back of their camels in turns till they reached Medina. Amir Bin Fuhaira was martyred on the day of Bir Mauna. Narrated Urwa: When those Muslims at Bir Mauna were martyred and Amr Bin Umaiya AlDamri was taken prisoner; Amir Bin AlTufail; pointing at a killed person; asked Amr; Who is this? Amr Bin Umaiya said to him; He is Amir Bin Fuhaira. Amir Bin AlTufail said; I saw him lifted to the sky after he was killed till I saw the sky between him and the earth; and then he was brought down upon the earth. Then the news of the killed Muslims reached the Prophet ﷺ and he announced the news of their death saying; Your companions of Bir Mauna have been killed; and they have asked their Lord saying; O our Lord! Inform our brothers about us as we are pleased with You and You are pleased with us. So Allah informed them i.e. the Prophet ﷺ and his companions about them i.e. martyrs of Bir Mauna. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6895Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: During the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ some people said; : O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? The Prophet ﷺ said; Yes; do you have any difficulty in seeing the sun at midday when it is bright and there is no cloud in the sky? They replied; No. He said; Do you have any difficulty in seeing the moon on a full moon night when it is bright and there is no cloud in the sky? They replied; No. The Prophet ﷺ said; Similarly you will have no difficulty in seeing Allah on the Day of Resurrection as you have no difficulty in seeing either of them. On the Day of Resurrection; a call-maker will announce; Let every nation follow that which they used to worship. Then none of those who used to worship anything other than Allah like idols and other deities but will fall in Hell Fire ; till there will remain none but those who used to worship Allah; both those who were obedient i.e. good and those who were disobedient i.e. bad and the remaining party of the people of the Scripture. Then the Jews will be called upon and it will be said to them; Who do you use to worship? They will say; We used to worship Ezra; the son of Allah. It will be said to them; You are liars; for Allah has never taken anyone as a wife or a son. What do you want now? They will say; O our Lord! We are thirsty; so give us something to drink. They will be directed and addressed thus; Will you drink; whereupon they will be gathered unto Hell Fire which will look like a mirage whose different sides will be destroying each other. Then they will fall into the Fire. Afterwards the Christians will be called upon and it will be said to them; Who do you use to worship? They will say; We used to worship Jesus; the son of Allah. It will be said to them; You are liars; for Allah has never taken anyone as a wife or a son; Then it will be said to them; What do you want? They will say what the former people have said. Then; when there remain in the gathering none but those who used to worship Allah Alone; the real Lord of the Worlds whether they were obedient or disobedient. Then Allah the Lord of the worlds will come to them in a shape nearest to the picture they had in their minds about Him. It will be said; What are you waiting for? Every nation have followed what they used to worship. They will reply; We left the people in the world when we were in great need of them and we did not take them as friends. Now we are waiting for our Lord Whom we used to worship. Allah will say; I am your Lord. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7088Narrated Masruq: While a man was delivering a speech in the tribe of Kinda; he said; Smoke will prevail on the Day of Resurrection and will deprive the hypocrites their faculties of hearing and seeing. The believers will be afflicted with something like cold only thereof. That news scared us; so I went to Abdullah Ibn Masud while he was reclining and told him the story whereupon he became angry; sat up and said; He who knows a thing can say; it; but if he does not know; he should say; Allah knows best; for it is an aspect of knowledge to say; I do not know; if you do not know a certain thing. Allah said to His prophet. Say O Muhammad : No wage do I ask of you for this Quran ; nor I am one of the pretenders a person who pretends things which do not exist. 38.86 The Quraish delayed in embracing Islam for a period; so the Prophet ﷺ invoked evil on them; saying; O Allah! Help me against them by sending seven years of famine like those of Joseph. So they were afflicted with such a severe year of famine that they were destroyed therein and ate dead animals and bones. They started seeing something like smoke between the sky and the earth because of severe hunger. Abu Sufyan then came to the Prophet and said; O Muhammad! You came to order us for to keep good relations with Kith and kin; and your kinsmen have now perished; so please invoke Allah to relieve them. Then Ibn Masud recited:- Then watch you for the day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke plainly visible....but truly you will return! to disbelief 44.10-15 Ibn Masud added; Then the punishment was stopped; but truly; they reverted to heathenism their old way. So Allah threatened them thus : On the day when we shall seize you with a mighty grasp. 44.16 And that was the day of the Battle of Badr. If somebody knows something; he can say it; but if he does not know it; he should say; Allah knows better; for it is a sign of having knowledge to say about something which one does not know; Allah knows better. No wage do I ask of You for this Quran nor am I one of the pretenders a person who pretends things which do not exist. 38.86 Now I will tell you about AlDukhan the smoke ; Allah Messenger ﷺ invited the Quraish to embrace Islam; but they delayed their response. So he said; O Allah! Help me against them by sending on them seven years of famine similar to the seven years of famine of Joseph. So the famine year overtook them and everything was destroyed till they ate dead animals and skins. People started imagining to see smoke between them and the sky because of severe hunger. Allah said: Then watch you for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke plainly visible; covering the people... This is painful torment. 44.10-11 So they invoked Allah Our Lord! Remove the punishment from us really we are believers. How can there be an effectual reminder for them when an Apostle; explaining things clearly; has already come to them? Then they had turned away from him and said: One taught by a human being ; a madman? We shall indeed remove punishment for a while; but truly; you will revert to disbelief. 44.12-15 Will the punishment be removed on the Day of Resurrection? Abdullah added; The punishment was removed from them for a while but they reverted to disbelief; so Allah destroyed them on the Day of Badr. Allah said: The day We shall seize you with a mighty grasp. Hammad one of the narrators in the chain of transmitters mentioned the swetness of its odour; and further said that the dwellers of the sky say: Here comes the pious soul from the side of the earth Let there be blessings of Allah upon the body in which it resides. And it is carried by the angels to its Lord; the Exalted and Glorious. He would say: Take it to its destined end. And if he is a nonbeliever and as it the soul leaves the body-Hammad made a mention of its foul smell and of its being cursed-the dwellers of the sky say: There comes a dirty soul from the side of the earth; and it would be said: Take it to its destined end. SahihMuslim-017-001-19044Masruq reported: We were sitting in the company of Abdullah and he was lying on the bed that a person came and said: Abd Abd AlRabmin; a story-teller at the gates of Kinda says that the verse of the Quran which deals with the smoke implies that which is about to come and it would hold the breath of the infidels and would inflict the believers with cold. Thereupon Abdullah got up and said in anger. O people; fear Allah and say only that which one knows amongst you and do not say which he does not know and he should simply say: Allah has the best knowledge for He has the best knowledge amongst all of you. It does not behove him to say that which he does not know. Allah has the best knowledge of it. Verily Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; said to His Prophet ﷺ to state: I do not ask from you any remuneration and I am not the one to put you in trouble; and when Allah Mesqenger ﷺ saw people turning back from religion he said: O Allah; afflict thern with seven famines as was done in the case of Yousif; so they were afflicted with famine by which they were forced to eat everything until they were obliged to eat the hides and the dead bodies because of hunger; and every one of them looked towards the sky and he found a smoke. And Abu Sufyan came and he said: Muhammad; you have come to command us to obey Allah and cement the ties of blood- relation whereas your people are undone; supplicate Allah for tlicm. Thereupon Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; said: Wait for the day when there would be clear smoke from the sky which would envelop people and that would be grievous torivent up to the words: you are going to return to evil. if this verse implied the torment of the next life could the chastisement of the next life be averted as the Quran states : On the day when We seize them with the most violent seizing; surely We shall exact retribution xliv. 16 ? The seizing in the hadith implies that of the Day of Badr. SahihMuslim-017-001-19045Masruq reported that there came to Abdullah a person and said: I have left behind in the Masjid a man who explains the Quran according to his personal discretion and he explained this verse: So wait for the day when the Heaven brings a clear smoke. He says that a smoke would come to the people on the Day of Resurrection anl it will withhold breath and they would be inflicted with cold. Abdullah said: He who has knowledge should say something and he who has no knowledge should simply say: Allah is best aware. This reflects the understanding of a person that he should say about that which he does not know that it is Allah who knows best. The fact is that when the Quraish disobeyed Allah Apostle ﷺ he supplicated Allah that they should be afflicted with famine and starvation as was done in case of Yousif. And they were so much hard pressed that a person would ace the sky and he would see between him and the sky something like smoke and they were so much hard pressed that they began to cat the bones; and a person came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger. seek forgiveness for the tribe of Mudar for its people have been undone. The Messenger ﷺ said: For Mudar? You are overbold; but he supplicated Allah for them. It was upon this that this verse was revealed: We shall remove the chastisement a little; but they will surely return to evil xliv. 15. lie the narrator said: There was a downpoor of rain upon them. When there was some relief for them they returned to the same position as they had been before; and Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; revealed this verse: So wait for the day when the heaven brings a clear smoke enveloping people. This is a grievous torment on the day when We seize them with the most violent seizing; surely; We shall exact retribution. SahihMuslim-017-001-19241This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Jabir with the same chain of transmitters but with this addition that Gog and Magog would walk until they would reach the mountain of AlKhamar and it is a mountain of Bait AlMaqdis and they would say: We have killed those who are upon the earth. Let us now kill those who are In the sky and they would throw their arrows towards the sky and the arrows would return to them besmeared with blood. SahihMuslim-017-001-19639It is reported either on the authority of Ibn Abbas or on the authority of Abu Huraira that a person came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger; I saw while I was sleeping during the night this vision that there was a canopy from which butter and honey were trickling and I also saw people collecting them in the palms of their hands; some more; some less; and I also saw a rope connecting the earth with the sky and I saw you catching hold of it and rising towards the heaven; then another person after you catching hold of it and rising towards Heaven ; then another person catching hold of it; but it was broken while it was rejoined for him and he also climbed up. Abu Bakr said: Allah Messenger; may my father be sacrificed for you; by Allah; allow me to interpret it. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Well; give its interpretation. Thereupon Abu Bakr said: The canopy signifies the canopy of Islam and that what trickles out of it in the form of butter and honey is the Holy Quran and its sweetness and softness and what the people get hold of it in their palms implies major portion of the Quran or the small portion; and so far as the rope joining the sky with the earth is concerned; it is the Truth by which you stood in the worldly life and by which Allah would raise you to Heaven. Then the person after you would take hold of it and he would also climb up with the help of it. Then another person would take hold of it and climb up with the help of it. Then another person would take hold of it and it would be broken; then it would be rejoined for him and he would climb up with the help of it. Allah Messenger; may my father be taken as a ransom for you; tell me whether I have interpreted it correctly or I have made an error. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: You have interpreted a part of it correctly and you have erred in interpreting a part of it. Thereupon he said: Allah Messenger; by Allah; tell me that part where I have committed an error. SahihMuslim-017-001-20792Kharasha Bin Hurr reported: I was sitting in a circle in the Masjid of Medina and there was an old man; quite handsome. He was Abdullah Bin Salim. He was telling good things to them to the people sitting in that company. As he stood up to depart the people said: He who is desirous of looking at a person from amongst the people of Paradise should see him. I said: By Allah; I will follow him; and would try to know his residence. So I followed him and he walked on until he reached the outskirts of Medina. He then entered his house. I sought permission from him to get in; and he granted me the permission; saying: My nephew; what is the need that has brought you here ? I said to him: As you stood up; I heard people say about you: He who is desirous of seeing a person from among the people of Paradise should look at him. So I became desirous of accompanying you. He Abdullah Bin Salim said: It is Allah Who knows best about the people of Paradise. I would; however; narrate to you as to why they said like it. The story is that while I was asleep one night there came to me a person in the dream who asked me to stand up. So I stood up and he caught hold of my hand and I walked along with him; and; lo; I found some paths on my left and I was about to set out upon them. Thereupon he said to me Do not set yourself on them for these are the paths of the leftists denizens of Hell-fire. Then there were paths leading to the right side; whereupon he said: Set yourself on these paths. We came across a hill and he said to me: Climb up; and I attempted to climb up that I fell upon my buttocks. I made several attempts but failed to succeed. He led until he came to a pillar so high that its upper end touched the sky and its base was in the earth. And there was a handhold at its upper end. He said to me Climb over it. I said: How can I climb upon it; as its upper end touches the sky? He cought hold of my hand and pushed me up and I found myself suspended with the handhold. He then struck the pillar and it fell down; but I remained attached to that handhold until it was morning and the dream was thus over. I came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and narrated it to him. He said: So far as the paths which you saw on your left are concerned; these are paths of the leftists denizens of Hell and the paths which you saw on your right; these are the paths of the rightists the dwellers of Paradise and the mountain represents the destination of the martyrs which you would not be able to attain. SahihMuslim-017-001-20873Abu Burda reported on the authority of his father: We offered the sunset prayer along with Allah Apostle ﷺ. We then said: If we sit along with Allah Messenger and observe night prayer with him it would be very good; so we sat down and he came to us and said: You are still sitting here. I said: Allah Messenger; we observed evening prayer with you; then we said: Let us sit down and observe night prayer along with you; whereupon he said: You have done well or you have done right. He then lifted his head towards the sky and it often happened that as he lifted his head towards the sky; he said: The stars are a source of security for the sky and when the stars disappear there comes to the sky; i. e. it meets the same fate as it has been promised it would plunge into darkness. SahihMuslim-017-001-23918Abu Saeed AlKhudri told of Usaid Bin Hudair saying that one night he recited the Quran in his enclosure; when the horse began to jump about. He again recited and the horse again jumped. He again recited and it jumped as before. Usaid said: I was afraid lest it should trample his son Yahya. I stood near it the horse and saw something like a canopy over my head with what seemed to be lamps in it; rising up in the sky till it disappeared. I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the next day and said: Messenger of Allah; I recited the Quran during the night in my enclosure and my horse began to jump. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: You should have kept on reciting; Ibn Hudair. He Ibn Hudair said: I recited. It jumped as before. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ again said: You should have kept on reciting; Ibn Hudair. He Ibn Hudair said: I recited and it again jumped as before. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ again said: You should kave kept on reciting; Ibu Hudair. He Ibn Hudair said: Messenger of Allah I finished the recitation for Yahya was near the horse and I was afraid lest it should trample him. I saw something like a canopy with what seemed to be lamps in it rising up in the sky till it disappeared. SunanAlNasai-017-001-15422It was narrated from Anas Bin Malik that: A man entered the masjid when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing and delivering the Khutbah. He turned to face the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing and said: O Messenger of Allah; our wealth has been destroyed and the routes have been cut off. Pray to Allah SWT to send us rain. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands then said: O Allah; send us rain. Anas said: By Allah; we had not seen even a wisp of a cloud in the sky and there were no houses or buildings between us and the mountain of Sal. Then a cloud like a shield appeared; and when it reached the middle of the sky it spread and it began to rain. Anas said: By Allah; we did not see the sun for a week. Then a man entered through that door on the following Friday; when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing and delivering the Khutbah. He turned to face him standing and said: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; may Allah SWT send blessings upon you. Our wealth has been destroyed and the routes have been cut off. Pray to Allah SWT to withold the rain from us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and said: O Allah; around us and not on us.; O Allah; on the hills and mountains; the bottoms of the valleys and where the trees grow. Then it stopped raining and we went out walking in the sun. Sharik said: I asked Anas: Was he the same man? SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25310Narrated Anas Ibn Malik: The people of Medina had a drought during the time of the Prophet ﷺ. While he was preaching on a Friday; a man stood up and said: Messenger of Allah; the horses have perished; the goats have perished; pray to Allah to give us water. He spread his hands and prayed. Anas said: The sky was like a mirror there was no cloud. Then the wind rose; a cloud appeared in the sky and it spread : the sky poured down the water. We came out from the Masjid after the prayer passing through the water till we reached our homes. The rain continued till the following Friday. The same or some other person stood up and said: Messenger of Allah; the houses have been demolished; pray to Allah to stop it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said: O Allah ; the rain may fall around us but not upon us. Whoever protects it and observes it carefully is protecting his deen; while whoever is negligent about it will be even more negligent about other things. Then he added; Pray dhuhr any time from when the afternoon shade is the length of your forearm until the length of your shadow matches your height. Pray asr when the sun is still pure white; so that a rider can travel two or three farsakhs before the sun sets. Pray maghrib when the sun has set. Pray isha any time from when the redness in the western sky has disappeared until a third of the night has passed - and a person who sleeps; may he have no rest; a person who sleeps; may he have no rest.
