I surrender myself to You; and I believe in You and I depend upon You; and I repent to You and with You Your evidences I stand against my opponents; and to you I leave the judgment for those who refuse my message. O Allah! Forgive me my sins that I did in the past or will do in the future; and also the sins I did in secret or in public. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1308Narrated Ubada Bin AlSamit: Allah Messenger ﷺ said to us while we were in a gathering; Give me the oath Pledge of allegiance for: 1 Not to join anything in worship along with Allah; 2 Not to steal; 3 Not to commit illegal sexual intercourse; 4 Not to kill your children; 5 Not to accuse an innocent person to spread such an accusation among people ; 6 Not to be disobedient when ordered to do good deeds. The Prophet ﷺ added: Whoever amongst you fulfill his pledge; his reward will be with Allah; and whoever commits any of those sins and receives the legal punishment in this world for that sin; then that punishment will be an expiation for that sin; and whoever commits any of those sins and Allah does not expose him; then it is up to Allah if He wishes He will punish him or if He wishes; He will forgive him. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1485Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Horses may be used for three purposes: For a man they may be a source of reward in the Hereafter ; for another; a means of protection; and for another; a source of sin. The man for whom they are a source of reward; is the one who keeps them for Allah Cause and ties them with long ropes and lets them graze in a pasture or garden. Whatever those long ropes allow them to eat of that pasture or garden; will be written as good deeds for him and if they break their ropes and run one or two rounds; then all their footsteps and dung will be written as good deeds for him; and if they pass a river and drink from it though he has had no intention of watering them; even then; that will be written as good deeds for him. So such horses are a source of reward for that man. For the man who keeps horses for his livelihood in order not to ask others for help or beg his bread; and at the same time he does not forget Allah right of what he earns through them and of their backs that he presents it to be used in Allah Cause ; such horses are a shelter for him from poverty. For the man who keeps them just out of pride and for showing off; they are a source of sin. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ was asked about donkeys. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1798Narrated AlHarith Bin Suwaid: Abdullah Bin Masud related to us two narrations: One from the Prophet ﷺ and the other from himself; saying: A believer sees his sins as if he were sitting under a mountain which; he is afraid; may fall on him; whereas the wicked person considers his sins as flies passing over his nose and he just drives them away like this. Abu Shihab the sub-narrator moved his hand over his nose in illustration. Ibn Masud added : Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a man who encamps at a place where his life is jeopardized; but he has his riding beast carrying his food and water. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2134Narrated Ibn Abbas: I brought water to Uthman Bin Affan to perform the ablution while he was sitting on his seat. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2266Narrated Anas: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Allah will gather all the people on the Day of Resurrection and they will say; Let us request someone to intercede for us with our Lord so that He may relieve us from this place of ours. Then they will go to Adam and say; You are the one whom Allah created with His Own Hands; and breathed in you of His soul; and ordered the angels to prostrate to you; so please intercede for us with our Lord. Adam will reply; I am not fit for this undertaking; and will remember his sin; and will say; Go to Noah; the first Apostle sent by Allah They will go to him and he will say; I am not fit for this undertaking; and will remember his sin and say; Go to Abraham whom Allah took as a Khalil. They will go to him and request similarly. He will reply; I am not fit for this undertaking; and will remember his sin and say; Go to Moses to whom Allah spoke directly. They will go to Moses and he will say; I am not fit for this undertaking; and will remember his sin and say; Go to Jesus. They will go to him; and he will say; I am not fit for this undertaking; go to Muhammad as Allah has forgiven his past and future sins. They will come to me and I will ask my Lord permission; and when I see Him; I will fall down in prostration to Him; and He will leave me in that state as long as He Allah will; and then I will be addressed. Raise up your head O Muhammad ! Ask; and your request will be granted; and say; and your saying will be listened to; intercede; and your intercession will be accepted. Then I will raise my head; and I will glorify and praise my Lord with a saying i.e. invocation He will teach me; and then I will intercede; Allah will fix a limit for me i.e.; certain type of people for whom I may intercede ; and I will take them out of the Hell Fire and let them enter Paradise. Then I will come back to Allah and fall in prostration; and will do the same for the third and fourth times till no-one remains in the Hell Fire except those whom the Quran has imprisoned therein. I caught hold of him according to your command; whereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Dont you like that he should take upon him the burden of your sin and the sin of your companion your brother ? He said: Allah Apostle; why not? The Messenger of Allah may peace be. upon him said: If it is so; then let it be. Then he added: What have you said now ? SahihMuslim-017-001-18040It is reported by Zuhri that this tradition was narrated to him by Malik Bin Aus who said: Umar Bin AlKhattab sent for me and I came to him when the day had advanced. I found him in his house sitting on his bare bed-stead; reclining on a leather pillow. He said to me : Malik; some people of your tribe have hastened to me with a request for help. I have ordered a little money for them. Take it and distribute it among them. I said: I wish you had ordered somebody else to do this job. He said: Malik; take it and do what you have been told. At this moment his man-servant Yarfa came in and said: Commander of the Faithful; what do you say about Uthman; Abd AlRabman Bin Auf; AlZubair and Saad who have come to seek an audience with you ? He said: Yes; and permitted them. so they entered. Then he Yarfa came again and said: What do you say about Ali and Abbas who are present at the door ? He said: Yes; and permitted them to enter. Abbas said: Commander of the Faithful; decide the dispute between me and this sinful; treacherous; dishonest liar. The people who were present also said: Yes. Commander of the Faithful; do decide the dispute and have mercy on them. Malik Bin Aus said: I could well imagine that they had sent them in advance for this purpose by Ali and Abbas. Umar said: Wait and be patient. I adjure you by Allah by Whose order the heavens and the earth are sustained; dont you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: We prophets do not have any heirs; what we leave behind is to be given in charity? They said: Yes. Then he turned to Abbas and Ali and said: I adjure you both by Allah by Whose order the heavens and earth are sustained; dont you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: We do not have any heirs; what we leave behind is to be given in charity? They too said: Yes. Then Umar said: Allah; the Glorious and Exalted; had done to His Messenger ﷺ a special favour that He has not done to anyone else except him. He quoted the Quranic verse: What Allah has bestowed upon His Apostle from the properties of the people of township is for Allah and His Messenger. The narrator said: I do not know whether he also recited the previous verse or not. Umar continued: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distrbuted among you the properties abandoned by Banu Nadir. By Allah; he never preferred himself over you and never appropriated anything to your exclusion. After a fair distribution in this way this property was left over. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would meet from its income his annual expenditure; and what remained would be deposited in the Bait AlMal. Continuing further he said: I adjure you by Allah by Whose order the heavens and the earth are sustained. Do you know this? They said: Yes. Then he adjured Abbas and All as he had adjured the other persons and asked: Do you both know this? They said: Yes. He said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away; Abu Bakr said: I am the successor of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Both of you came to demand your shares from the property left behind by the Messenger of Allah. Referring to Hadrat Abbas ; he said: You demanded your share from the property of your nephew; and he referring to Ali demanded a share on behalf of his wife from the property of her father. Abu Bakr Allah be pleased with him said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said: We do not have any heirs; what we leave behind is to be given in charity. So both of you thought him to be a liar; sinful; treacherous and dishonest. And Allah knows that he was true; virtuous; well-guided and a follower of truth. When Abu Bakr passed away and I have become the successor of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr Allah be pleased with him ; you thought me to be a liar; sinful; treacherous and dishonest. And Allah knows that I am true; virtuous; well-guided and a follower of truth. I became the guardian of this property. Then you as well as he came to me. Both of you have come and your purpose is identical. You said: Entrust the property to us. I said: If you wish that I should entrust it to you; it will be on the condition that both of you will undertake to abide by a pledge made with Allah that you will use it in the same way as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used it. So both of you got it. He said: Wasnt it like this? They said: Yes. He said: Then you have again come to me with the request that I should adjudge between you. No; by Allah. I will not give any other judgment except this until the arrival of the Doomsday. He said: The extent to which they betrayed you; disobeyed you and lied to you will be measured against how much you punish them. If your punishing them is equal to their sins; then the two will be the same; nothing for you and nothing against you. If your punishing them is above their sin; some of your rewards will be taken from you and given to them. So the man left; and began weeping and crying aloud. I heard the Bedouin and the people saying: Keep away from the whip. My father came up to him. He caught hold of his foot and acknowledged him his Prophethood. He stopped and listened to him. He then said: I participated in the army of Athran in the pre-Islamic days. The narrator; Ibn AlMuthanna; said: Army of Gathran. Tariq Ibn AlMuraqqa said: Who will give me a lance and get a reward? I asked: What is its reward? He replied: I shall marry him to my first daughter born to me. So I gave him my lance and then disappeared from him till I knew that a daughter was born to him and she came of age. I then came to him and said: Send my wife to me. He swore that he would not do that until I fixed a dower afresh other than that agreed between me and him; and I swore that I should not give him the dower other than that I had given him before. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: How old is she now? He said: She has grown old. He said: I think you should leave her. He said: This put awe and fear into me; and I looked at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When Umar observed this his anger ; he said: We are satisfied with Allah as Lord; with Islam as religion; and with Muhammad as Prophet. He then asked: Messenger of Allah; what is the position of one who observes a perpetual fast? He replied: May he not fast or break his fast. He asked: What is the position of one who fasts two days and does not fast one day? He said: Is anyone able to do that? He asked: What is the position of one who fasts every second day i.e. fasts one day and does not fasts the next day ? He the Prophet said: This is the fast that David observed. He asked: Messenger of Allah; what is the position of one who fasts one day and breaks it for two days? He replied: I wish I were given the power to observe that. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The observance of three days fast every month and of one Ramadan to the other i.e. the fast of Ramadan every year is equivalent to a perpetual fast.
