For them is a penalty Grievous indeed.

And they shall hear the cry: "Behold! the garden before you! Ye have been made its inheritors, for your deeds (of righteousness)."

Wa lakal-hamd; anta Alhaq wa waduka-lhaq; wa liqauka Haq; wa qauluka Haq; Aljannatu Han wan-naru Haq wannabiyuna Haq. Wa Muhammadun; sallal-lahualaihi wasallam; Haq; was-saatu Haq. Allahumma aslamtu Laka wabika amantu; wa Alaika tawakkaltu; wa ilaika anabtu wa bika khasamtu; wa ilaika hakamtu faghfir li ma qaddamtu wama akh-khartu wama as-rartu wamaa lantu; anta Almuqaddim wa anta Almu akh-khir; la ilaha illa anta or la ilaha ghairuka. O Allah! All the praises are for you; You are the Holder of the Heavens and the Earth; And whatever is in them. All the praises are for You; You have the possession of the Heavens and the Earth And whatever is in them. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-062Narrated Ubada Bin AlSamit: The Prophet ﷺ Whoever gets up at night and says: - La ilaha Allallah Wahdahu la Sharika lahu Lahu-lmulk; waLahu Alhamd wahuwa ala kullishaiin Qadir. Alhamdu lil-lahi wa subhanal-lahi wa la-ilaha Allal-lah wa Allahu akbar wa la hawla Wala Quwata Alla-bil-lah. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah. He is the Only One and has no partners. For Him is the Kingdom and all the praises are due for Him. He is Omnipotent. All the praises are for Allah. All the glories are for Allah. And none has the right to be worshipped but Allah; And Allah is Great And there is neither Might nor Power Except with Allah. And then says: - Allahumma; Ighfir li O Allah! Forgive me. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1021Narrated Ibn Abbas: The Prophet ﷺ used to invoke Allah at night; saying; O Allah: All the Praises are for You: You are the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth. All the Praises are for You; You are the Maintainer of the Heaven and the Earth and whatever is in them. All the Praises are for You; You are the Light of the Heavens and the Earth. Your Word is the Truth; and Your Promise is the Truth; and the Meeting with You is the Truth; and Paradise is the Truth; and the Hell Fire is the Truth; and the Hour is the Truth. O Allah! I surrender myself to You; and I believe in You and I depend upon You; and I repent to You and with You Your evidences I stand against my opponents; and to you I leave the judgment for those who refuse my message. O Allah! Forgive me my sins that I did in the past or will do in the future; and also the sins I did in secret or in public. You are my only God Whom I worship and there is no other God for me i.e. I worship none but You. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1045Narrated Anas: The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah will gather the believers on the Day of Resurrection in the same way as they are gathered in this life ; and they will say; Let us ask someone to intercede for us with our Lord that He may relieve us from this place of ours. Then they will go to Adam and say; O Adam! Dont you see the people people condition ? Allah created you with His Own Hands and ordered His angels to prostrate before you; and taught you the names of all the things. Please intercede for us with our Lord so that He may relieve us from this place of ours. Adam will say; I am not fit for this undertaking and mention to them the mistakes he had committed; and add; But you d better go to Noah as he was the first Apostle sent by Allah to the people of the Earth. They will go to Noah who will reply; I am not fit for this undertaking; and mention the mistake which he made; and add; But youd better go to Abraham; Khalil AlRahman. They will go to Abraham who will reply; I am not fit for this undertaking; and mention to them the mistakes he made; and add; But youd better go to Moses; a slave whom Allah gave the Torah and to whom He spoke directly They will go to Moses who will reply; I am not fit for this undertaking; and mention to them the mistakes he made; and add; Youd better go to Jesus; Allah slave and His Apostle and His Word Be: And it was and a soul created by Him. They will go to Jesus who will say; I am not fit for this undertaking; but youd better go to Muhammad whose sins of the past and the future had been forgiven by Allah. So they will come to me and I will ask the permission of my Lord; and I will be permitted to present myself before Him. When I see my Lord; I will fall down in prostration before Him and He will leave me in prostration as long as He wishes; and then it will be said to me; O Muhammad! Raise your head and speak; for you will be listened to; and ask; for you will be granted your request ; and intercede; for your intercession will be accepted. I will then raise my head and praise my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me; and then I will intercede. Allah will allow me to intercede for a certain kind of people and will fix a limit whom I will admit into Paradise. I will come back again; and when I see my Lord again ; I will fall down in prostration before Him; and He will leave me in prostration as long as He wishes; and then He will say; O Muhammad! Raise your head and speak; for you will be listened to; and ask; for you will be granted your request ; and intercede; for your intercession will be accepted. I will then praise my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me; and then I will intercede. Allah will allow me to intercede for a certain kind of people and will fix a limit to whom I will admit into Paradise; I will return again; and when I see my Lord; I will fall down in prostration and He will leave me in prostration as long as He wishes; and then He will say; O Muhammad! Raise your head and speak; for you will be listened to; and ask; for you will be granted your request ; and intercede; for your intercession will be accepted. I will then praise my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me; and then I will intercede. None remains in Hell Fire but those whom Quran has imprisoned therein and for whom eternity in Hell Fire has become inevitable. The Prophet ﷺ added; There will come out of Hell Fire everyone who says: La ilaha illal-lah; and has in his heart good equal to the weight of a barley grain. Then there will come out of Hell Fire everyone who says: La ilaha illal-lah; and has in his heart good equal to the weight of a wheat grain. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1072Narrated Anas: The Prophet ﷺ said; The believers will be kept waiting on the Day of Resurrection so long that they will become worried and say; Let us ask somebody to intercede far us with our Lord so that He may relieve us from our place. Then they will go to Adam and say; You are Adam; the father of the people. Allah created you with His Own Hand and made you reside in His Paradise and ordered His angels to prostrate before you; and taught you the names of all things will you intercede for us with your Lord so that He may relieve us from this place of ours? Adam will say; I am not fit for this undertaking. He will mention his mistakes he had committed; i.e.; his eating off the tree though he had been forbidden to do so. He will add; Go to Noah; the first prophet sent by Allah to the people of the Earth. The people will go to Noah who will say; I am not fit for this undertaking He will mention his mistake which he had done; i.e.; his asking his Lord without knowledge. He will say to them ; Go to Abraham; Khalil AlRahman. They will go to Abraham who will say; I am not fit for this undertaking. He would mention three words by which he told a lie; and say to them. Go to Moses; a slave whom Allah gave the Torah and spoke to; directly and brought near Him; for conversation. They will go to Moses who will say; I am not fit for this undertaking. He will mention his mistake he made; i.e.; killing a person; and will say to them ; Go to Jesus; Allah slave and His Apostle; and a soul created by Him and His Word. Be: And it was. They will go to Jesus who will say; I am not fit for this undertaking but youd better go to Muhammad the slave whose past and future sins have been forgiven by Allah. So they will come to me; and I will ask my Lord permission to enter His House and then I will be permitted. When I see Him I will fall down in prostration before Him; and He will leave me in prostration as long as He will; and then He will say; O Muhammad; lift up your head and speak; for you will be listened to; and intercede; for your intercession will be accepted; and ask for anything for it will be granted: Then I will raise my head and glorify my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me. Allah will put a limit for me to intercede for a certain type of people I will take them out and make them enter Paradise. Qatada said: I heard Anas saying that ; the Prophet ﷺ said; I will go out and take them out of Hell Fire and let them enter Paradise; and then I will return and ask my Lord for permission to enter His House and I will be permitted. When I will see Him I will fall down in prostration before Him and He will leave me in prostration as long as He will let me in that state ; and then He will say; O Muhammad; raise your head and speak; for you will be listened to; and intercede; for your intercession will be accepted; and ask; your request will be granted. The Prophet ﷺ added; So I will raise my head and glorify and praise Him as He has taught me. Then I will intercede and He will put a limit for me to intercede for a certain type of people. I will take them out and let them enter Paradise. Qatada added: I heard Anas saying that the Prophet said; I will go out and take them out of Hell Fire and let them enter Paradise; and I will return for the third time and will ask my Lord for permission to enter His house; and I will be allowed to enter. When I see Him; I will fall down in prostration before Him; and will remain in prostration as long as He will; and then He will say; Raise your head; O Muhammad; and speak; for you will be listened to; and intercede; for your intercession will be accepted; and ask; for your request will be granted. So I will raise my head and praise Allah as He has taught me and then I will intercede and He will put a limit for me to intercede for a certain type of people. I will take them out and let them enter Paradise. Qatada said: I heard Anas saying that the Prophet ﷺ said; So I will go out and take them out of Hell Fire and let them enter Paradise; till none will remain in the Fire except those whom Quran will imprison i.e.; those who are destined for eternal life in the fire. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1141Narrated Mabad Bin Hilal AlAnzi: We; i.e.; some people from Basra gathered and went to Anas Bin Malik; and we went in company with Thabit AlBunnani so that he might ask him about the Hadith of Intercession on our behalf. Behold; Anas was in his palace; and our arrival coincided with his Duha prayer. We asked permission to enter and he admitted us while he was sitting on his bed. We said to Thabit; Do not ask him about anything else first but the Hadith of Intercession. He said; O Abu Hamza! There are your brethren from Basra coming to ask you about the Hadith of Intercession. Anas then said; Muhammad talked to us saying; On the Day of Resurrection the people will surge with each other like waves; and then they will come to Adam and say; Please intercede for us with your Lord. He will say; I am not fit for that but youd better go to Abraham as he is the Khalil of the Beneficent. They will go to Abraham and he will say; I am not fit for that; but youd better go to Moses as he is the one to whom Allah spoke directly. So they will go to Moses and he will say; I am not fit for that; but youd better go to Jesus as he is a soul created by Allah and His Word. Be: And it was they will go to Jesus and he will say; I am not fit for that; but youd better go to Muhammad. They would come to me and I would say; I am for that. Then I will ask for my Lord permission; and it will be given; and then He will inspire me to praise Him with such praises as I do not know now. So I will praise Him with those praises and will fall down; prostrate before Him. Then it will be said; O Muhammad; raise your head and speak; for you will be listened to; and ask; for your will be granted your request ; and intercede; for your intercession will be accepted. I will say; O Lord; my followers! My followers! And then it will be said; Go and take out of Hell Fire all those who have faith in their hearts; equal to the weight of a barley grain. I will go and do so and return to praise Him with the same praises; and fall down prostrate before Him. Then it will be said; O Muhammad; raise your head and speak; for you will be listened to; and ask; for you will be granted your request ; and intercede; for your intercession will be accepted. I will say; O Lord; my followers! My followers! It will be said; Go and take out of it all those who have faith in their hearts equal to the weight of a small ant or a mustard seed. I will go and do so and return to praise Him with the same praises; and fall down in prostration before Him. It will be said; O; Muhammad; raise your head and speak; for you will be listened to; and ask; for you will be granted your request ; and intercede; for your intercession will be accepted. I will say; O Lord; my followers! Then He will say; Go and take out all those in whose hearts there is faith even to the lightest; lightest mustard seed. Take them out of the Fire. I will go and do so. When we left Anas; I said to some of my companions; Let pass by AlHasan who is hiding himself in the house of Abi Khalifa and request him to tell us what Anas Bin Malik has told us. So we went to him and we greeted him and he admitted us. We said to him; O Abu Said! We came to you from your brother Anas Bin Malik and he related to us a Hadith about the intercession the like of which I have never heard. He said; What is that? Then we told him of the Hadith and said; He stopped at this point of the Hadith. He said; What then? We said; He did not add anything to that. He said; Anas related the Hadith to me twenty years ago when he was a young fellow. I dont know whether he forgot or if he did not like to let you depend on what he might have said. We said; O Abu Saeed ! Let us know that. He smiled and said; Man was created hasty. I did not mention that; but that I wanted to inform you of it. Anas told me the same as he told you and said that the Prophet ﷺ added; I then return for a fourth time and praise Him similarly and prostrate before Him me the same as he O Muhammad; raise your head and speak; for you will be listened to; and ask; for you will be granted your request : and intercede; for your intercession will be accepted. I will say; O Lord; allow me to intercede for whoever said; None has the right to be worshiped except Allah. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-124Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Allah Messenger ﷺ ﷺ fell down from a horse and his right side was either injured or scratched; so we went to inquire about his health. The time for the prayer became due and he offered the prayer while sitting and we prayed while standing. He said; The Imam is to be followed; so if he says Takbir; you should also say Takbir; and if he bows you should also bow; and when he lifts his head you should also do the same and if he says: Samia Allahu liman hamidah Allah hears whoever sends his praises to Him you should say: Rabbana walakal-Hamd O our Lord! SahihAlBukhari-017-001-136Narrated Aisha: the wife of the Prophet ﷺ In the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ the sun eclipsed and he went to the Masjid and the people aligned behind him. He said the Takbir starting the prayer and prolonged the recitation from the Quran and then said Takbir and performed a prolonged bowing; then he lifted his head and said; Sami allahu liman hamidah Allah heard him who sent his praises to Him. He then did not prostrate but stood up and recited a prolonged recitation which was shorter than the first recitation. He again said Takbir and then bowed a prolonged bowing but shorter than the first one and then said; Samia Allahu Lyman hamidah Rabbana walak-lhamd; Allah heard him who sent his praises to Him. O our Sustainer! All the praises are for You and then prostrated and did the same in the second raka; thus he completed four bowing and four prostrations. The sun eclipse had cleared before he finished the prayer. After the prayer he stood up; glorified and praised Allah as He deserved and then said; The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of the death or the life i.e. birth of someone. When you see them make haste for the prayer. Narrated AlZuhri: I said to Urwa; When the sun eclipsed at Medina your brother Abdullah Bin AlZubair offered only a two-rakat prayer like that of the morning Fajr prayer. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1592Narrated Ibn Abbas: I used to teach the Quran to some people of the Muhajirln emigrants ; among whom there was Abdulrahman Bin Auf. While I was in his house at Mina; and he was with Umar Bin AlKhattab during Umar last Hajj; Abdulrahman came to me and said; Would that you had seen the man who came today to the Chief of the Believers Umar ; saying; O Chief of the Believers! What do you think about so-and-so who says; If Umar should die; I will give the pledge of allegiance to such-andsuch person; as by Allah; the pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr was nothing but a prompt sudden action which got established afterwards. Umar became angry and then said; Allah willing; I will stand before the people tonight and warn them against those people who want to deprive the others of their rights the question of rulership. Abdulrahman said; I said; O Chief of the believers! Do not do that; for the season of Hajj gathers the riff-raff and the rubble; and it will be they who will gather around you when you stand to address the people. And I am afraid that you will get up and say something; and some people will spread your statement and may not say what you have actually said and may not understand its meaning; and may interpret it incorrectly; so you should wait till you reach Medina; as it is the place of emigration and the place of Prophet Traditions; and there you can come in touch with the learned and noble people; and tell them your ideas with confidence; and the learned people will understand your statement and put it in its proper place. On that; Umar said; By Allah! Allah willing; I will do this in the first speech I will deliver before the people in Medina. Ibn Abbas added: We reached Medina by the end of the month of Dhu AlHijja; and when it was Friday; we went quickly to the Masjid as soon as the sun had declined; and I saw Saeed Bin Zaid Bin Amr Bin Nufail sitting at the corner of the pulpit; and I too sat close to him so that my knee was touching his knee; and after a short while Umar Bin AlKhattab came out; and when I saw him coming towards us; I said to Saeed Bin Zaid Bin Amr Bin Nufail Today Umar will say such a thing as he has never said since he was chosen as Caliph. Saeed denied my statement with astonishment and said; What thing do you expect Umar to say the like of which he has never said before? In the meantime; Umar sat on the pulpit and when the callmakers for the prayer had finished their call; Umar stood up; and having glorified and praised Allah as He deserved; he said; Now then; I am going to tell you something which Allah has written for me to say. I do not know; perhaps it portends my death; so whoever understands and remembers it; must narrate it to the others wherever his mount takes him; but if somebody is afraid that he does not understand it; then it is unlawful for him to tell lies about me. Allah sent Muhammad with the Truth and revealed the Holy Book to him; and among what Allah revealed; was the Verse of the Rajam the stoning of married person male & female who commits illegal sexual intercourse; and we did recite this Verse and understood and memorized it. Allah Messenger ﷺ did carry out the punishment of stoning and so did we after him. I am afraid that after a long time has passed; somebody will say; By Allah; we do not find the Verse of the Rajam in Allah Book; and thus they will go astray by leaving an obligation which Allah has revealed. And the punishment of the Rajam is to be inflicted to any married person male & female ; who commits illegal sexual intercourse; if the required evidence is available or there is conception or confession. And then we used to recite among the Verses in Allah Book: O people! Do not claim to be the offspring of other than your fathers; as it is disbelief unthankfulness on your part that you claim to be the offspring of other than your real father. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Do not praise me excessively as Jesus; son of Marry was praised; but call me Allah Slave and His Apostles. O people! I have been informed that a speaker amongst you says; By Allah; if Umar should die; I will give the pledge of allegiance to such-and-such person. One should not deceive oneself by saying that the pledge of allegiance given to Abu Bakr was given suddenly and it was successful. No doubt; it was like that; but Allah saved the people from its evil; and there is none among you who has the qualities of Abu Bakr. Remember that whoever gives the pledge of allegiance to anybody among you without consulting the other Muslims; neither that person; nor the person to whom the pledge of allegiance was given; are to be supported; lest they both should be killed. And no doubt after the death of the Prophet ﷺ we were informed that the Ansar disagreed with us and gathered in the shed of Bani Sada. Ali and AlZubair and whoever was with them; opposed us; while the emigrants gathered with Abu Bakr. I said to Abu Bakr; Let go to these Ansari brothers of ours. So we set out seeking them; and when we approached them; two pious men of theirs met us and informed us of the final decision of the Ansar; and said; O group of Muhajirin emigrants ! Where are you going? We replied; We are going to these Ansari brothers of ours. They said to us; You shouldnt go near them. Carry out whatever we have already decided. I said; By Allah; we will go to them. And so we proceeded until we reached them at the shed of Bani Sada. Behold! There was a man sitting amongst them and wrapped in something. I asked; Who is that man? They said; He is Saad Bin Ubada. I asked; What is wrong with him? They said; He is sick. After we sat for a while; the Ansar speaker said; None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; and praising Allah as He deserved; he added; To proceed; we are Allah Ansar helpers and the majority of the Muslim army; while you; the emigrants; are a small group and some people among you came with the intention of preventing us from practicing this matter of caliphate and depriving us of it. When the speaker had finished; I intended to speak as I had prepared a speech which I liked and which I wanted to deliver in the presence of Abu Bakr; and I used to avoid provoking him. So; when I wanted to speak; Abu Bakr said; Wait a while. I disliked to make him angry. So Abu Bakr himself gave a speech; and he was wiser and more patient than I. By Allah; he never missed a sentence that I liked in my own prepared speech; but he said the like of it or better than it spontaneously. After a pause he said; O Ansar! You deserve all the qualities that you have attributed to yourselves; but this question of Caliphate is only for the Quraish as they are the best of the Arabs as regards descent and home; and I am pleased to suggest that you choose either of these two men; so take the oath of allegiance to either of them as you wish. And then Abu Bakr held my hand and Abu Ubaida Bin AlJarrah hand who was sitting amongst us. I hated nothing of what he had said except that proposal; for by Allah; I would rather have my neck chopped off as expiator for a sin than become the ruler of a nation; one of whose members is Abu Bakr; unless at the time of my death my own-self suggests something I dont feel at present. And then one of the Ansar said; I am the pillar on which the camel with a skin disease eczema rubs itself to satisfy the itching i.e.; I am a noble ; and I am as a high class palm tree! O Quraish. There should be one ruler from us and one from you. Then there was a hue and cry among the gathering and their voices rose so that I was afraid there might be great disagreement; so I said; O Abu Bakr! Hold your hand out. He held his hand out and I pledged allegiance to him; and then all the emigrants gave the Pledge of allegiance and so did the Ansar afterwards. And so we became victorious over Saad Bin Ubada whom AlAnsar wanted to make a ruler. One of the Ansar said; You have killed Saad Bin Ubada. I replied; Allah has killed Saad Bin Ubada. Umar added; By Allah; apart from the great tragedy that had happened to us i.e. the death of the Prophet ; there was no greater problem than the allegiance pledged to Abu Bakr because we were afraid that if we left the people; they might give the Pledge of allegiance after us to one of their men; in which case we would have given them our consent for something against our real wish; or would have opposed them and caused great trouble. He added; Then the angels encircle them with their wings up to the sky of the world. He added. after those people celebrated the Praises of Allah; and the angels go back ; their Lord; asks them those angels --though He knows better than them--What do My slaves say? The angels reply; They say: Subhan Allah; Allahu Akbar; and Alham-du-li Allah; Allah then says Did they see Me? The angels reply; No! By Allah; they didnt see You. Allah says; How it would have been if they saw Me? The angels reply; If they saw You; they would worship You more devoutly and celebrate Your Glory more deeply; and declare Your freedom from any resemblance to anything more often. Allah says to the angels ; What do they ask Me for? The angels reply; They ask You for Paradise. Allah says to the angels ; Did they see it? The angels say; No! By Allah; O Lord! They did not see it. Allah says; How it would have been if they saw it? The angels say; If they saw it; they would have greater covetousness for it and would seek It with greater zeal and would have greater desire for it. Allah says; From what do they seek refuge? The angels reply; They seek refuge from the Hell Fire. Allah says; Did they see it? The angels say; No By Allah; O Lord! They did not see it. Allah says; How it would have been if they saw it? The angels say; If they saw it they would flee from it with the extreme fleeing and would have extreme fear from it. Then Allah says; I make you witnesses that I have forgiven them. Allah Messenger ﷺ added; One of the angels would say; There was so-and-so amongst them; and he was not one of them; but he had just come for some need. Thabit sought permission for us and we entered; and he seated Thabit with him on his bedstead. He Thabit said to him Anas Bin Malik : O Abu Hamza kunya of Anas Bin Malik ; your brothers from among the inhabitants of Basra ask you to narrate to them the hadith of intercession. He said: Muhammad ﷺ narrated to us: When it would be the Day of Resurrection; some of the people would rush to one another in bewilderment. They would come to Adam and say: Intercede with your Lord for your progeny. He would say: I am not fit to do this; but go to Ibrabim ﷺ for he is the Friend of Allah. They would come to Ibrahim; but he would say: I am not fit to do this; but go to Moses; for he is Allah Interlocutor. They would come to Moses; but he would say: I am not fit to do this; but you should go to Jesus; for he is the Spirit of Allah and His word. They would come to Jesus; and he would say; I am not fit to do this; you better go to Muhammad ﷺ. They would come to me; and I would say: I am in a position to do that; I would go and ask the permission of my Lord and it would be granted to me. I would then stand before Him and would extol Him with praises which I am not able to do now; but with which Allah would inspire me; then I would fall in prostration and it would be said to me: O Muhammad; raise thy head; and say and it would be listened to; ask and it would be granted; intercede and it would be accepted. I shall say: My Lord; my people; my people It would be said: Go; and bring forth from it Hell him who has in his heart faith equal to the weight of a wheat grain or a barley seed. I would go and do that; then I would return to my Lord and extol Him with those praises taught to me by Allah ; then I would fall in prostration. It would be said to me: O Muhammad; raise your head; and say and it would be heard; ask and it would be granted; intercede and intercession would be accepted. So I would say: My people. my people. It would be said to me: Go and take out from it Hell him who has in his heart faith equal to the weight of a mustard seed. I would go and do that. I would again return to my Lord and extol Him with those praises. I would then fall in prostration. It would be said to me: O Muhammad; raisevour head: say; and you would be listened to; ask and it would be granted; intercede and intercession would be accepted. I would say: My Lord; my people; my people. It would be said to me: Go; and bring out of the Fire him who has in his heart as much faith as the smallest; smallest; smallest grain of mustard seed. I would go and do that. This is the hadith which Anas narrated to us. We went out of his house and when we reached the upper part of Jabban graveyard we said: Would that we meetHassan and salute him and he was hiding in the house of Abu Khalifa. He Mabad Bin Hilal; the narrator said: We went to him and greeted him and we said: O Abu Said; we come from your brother Abu Hamza kunya of Anas ; and we have never heard a hadith like this relating to intercession; which he has narrated to us. He said: Narrate it; we narrated the hadith. He said: Narrate it still further. We said: He did not narrate it before us more than this. He said: He Anas had narrated it to us twenty years back; when he was strong and healthy. He has in fact missed something. I cannot make out whether the old man has forgotten or he has intentionally avoided to narrate it to you lest you should rely absolutely upon it and abandon doing good deeds. We said to him: Relate that to us; and he laughed and said: There is haste in the nature of man. I did not make mention of it to you but for the fact that I wanted to narrate that to you and added that the Prophet said : I would then return to my Lord for the fourth time and extol Him with these praises. I would then fall in prostration. It would be said to me: O Muhammad; raise your head: say and it will be listened to; ask and it will be granted; intercede and intercession would be accepted. SahihMuslim-017-001-21871Aisha; the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; reported There was an eclipse of the sun during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So; the Messenger of Allah may peace he upon him went to the Masjid and stood up and glorified Allah; and the people formed themselves in rows behind him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a long recital of the Quran and then pronounced takbir and then observed a long ruku. He then raised his head and said: Allah listened to him who praised Him: our Lord; praise is due to Thee. He then again stood up and made a long recital; which was less than the first recital. He pronounced takbir and observed a long ruku; and it was less than the first one. He again said: Allah listened to him who praised Him; our Lord; praise is due to Thee. Abu Tahir; one of the narrators made no mention of: He then prostrated himself. He did like this in the second rakah; till he completed four rakahs and four prostrations and the sun became bright before he deported. He then stood up and addressed people; after lauding Allah as He deserved; and then said: The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah These do not eclipse either on the death of anyone or on his birth. So when you see them; hasten to prayer. He also said this: Observe prayer till Allah dispels the anxiety of this extraordinary phenomenon from you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I saw in my place everything which you have been promised. I even saw myself desiring to pluck a bunch of grapes from Paradise and it was at the time when you saw me moving forward. And I saw Hell and some of its parts crushing the others; when you saw me moving back; and I saw in it Ibn Luhay and he was the person who made the camels loiter about. SahihMuslim-017-001-22516Ibn Abbas reported: Dimad came to Mecca and he belonged to the tribe of Azd Shanua; and he used to protect the person who was under the influence of charm. He heard the foolish people of Mecca say that Muhammad ﷺ was under the spell. Upon this he said: If 1 were to come across this man; Allah might cure him at my hand. He met him and said: Muhammad; I can protect one who is under the influence of charm; and Allah cures one whom He so desires at my hand. Do you desire this ? Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Praise is due to Allah; we praise Him; ask His help; and he whom Allah guides aright there is none to lead him astray; and he who is led astray there is none to guide him; and I bear testimony to the fact that there is no god but Allah; He is One; having no partner with Him; and that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger. Now after this he Dimad said: Repeat these words of yours before me; and the messenger of Allah ﷺ repeated these to him thrice; and he said I have heard the words of soothsayers and the words of magicians; and the words of poets; but I have never heard such words as yours; and they reach the depth of the ocean of eloquence ; bring forth your hand so that I should take oath of fealty to you on Islam. So he took an oath of allegiance to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: It this allegiance of yours is on behalf of your people too. He said: It is on behalf of my people too. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent an expedition and the flying column passed by his people. The leader of the flying column said to the detachment: Did you find anything from these people? One of the people said: I found a utensil for water. SahihMuslim-017-001-23375Hattan Bin Abdullah AlRaqashi reported: I observed prayer with Abu Mousa AlAshari and when he was in the qadah; one among the people said: The prayer has been made obligatory along with piety and Zakat. He the narrator said: When Abu Mousa had finished the prayer after salutation he turned towards the people and said: Who amongst you said such and such a thing? A hush fell on the people. He again said: Who amongst you has said such and such a thing? A hush fell on the people. He Abu Mousa said: Hattan; it is perhaps you that have uttered it. He Hattan said No. I have not uttered it. I was afraid that you might be annoyed with me on account of this. A person amongst the people said: It was I who said it; and in this I intended nothing but good. Abu Mousa said: Dont you know what you have to recite in your prayers? Verily the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us and explained to us all its aspects and taught us how to observe prayer properly. He the Holy Prophet said: When you pray make your rows straight and let anyone amongst you act as your Imam. Recite the takbir when he recites it and when he recites: Not of those with whom Thou art angry; nor of those who go astray; say: Amin. Allah would respond you. And when he the Imam recites the takbir; you may also recite the takbir; for the Imam bows before you and raises himself before you. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The one is equivalent to the other. And when he says: Allah listens to him who praises Him; you should say: O Allah; our Lord; to Thee be the praise; for Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; has vouchsafed us through the tongue of His Apostle ﷺ that Allah listens to him who praises Him. And when he the Imam recites the takbir and prostrates; you should also recite the takbir and prostrate; for the Imam prostrates before you and raises himself before you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The one is equivalent to the other. And when he the Imam sits for Qada for tashahhud the first words of every one amongst you should be: All services rendered by words; acts of worship and all good things are due to Allah. Peace be upon you; O Apostle; and Allah mercy and blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the upright servants of Allah. So they will come to Nuh and he will say: I supplicated against the people of the earth; so they were destroyed. So go to Ibrahim. So they will go to Ibrahim; and he says: I lied three times. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He did not lie except defending Allah religion. So go to Mousa. So they will come to Mousa; and he will say: I took a life. So go to Eisa. So they go to Eisa and he says: I was worshiped besides Allah. So go to Muhammad ﷺ. He said: So they will come to me; and I will go to them. One of the narrators Ibn Judan said: Anas said: It is as if I am looking at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and he is saying: So I will take hold of a ring of a gate of Paradise to rattle it; and it will be said: Who is there? It will be said: Muhammad. They will open it for me; and welcome me saying; Welcome. I will fall prostrate and Allah will inspire me with statements of gratitude and praise and it will be said to me: Raise your head; ask and you shall be given; intercede; and your intercession shall be accepted; speak; and your saying shall be heard. Yahya Bin Main said: No one is reported to have narrated traditions form him except Hammad Bin Salamah.Abu Dawud said: Ubay Bin Kaab said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited supplication in the witr before bowing.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been narrated by Isa Bin Yunus through a different chain of narrators from Ubay Bin Ka Bin He also narrated it through a different chain of narrators on the authority of Ubay Bin Kaab that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited the supplication in the witr before bowing.Abu Dawud said: The chain of narrators of the tradition of Saeed from Qatadah goes: Yazid Bin Zurai narrated from Said; from Qatadah; from Azrah; from Saeed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Abza; on the authority of his father; from the Prophet ﷺ. This version does not mention the supplication and the name of Ubay. This tradition has also been narrated by Abd AlAla and Muhammad Bin Bishr AlAbd. He heard the traditions from Isa Bin Yunus at Kufah. They did not mention the supplication in their version.This tradition has also been narrated by Hisham AlDastuwai and Shubah from Qatadah. They did not mention the supplication in their version. None of them mention the supplication in his version; except in the tradition transmitted by Hafs Bin Ghiyath from Misar from Zubaid; he narrated in his version that he the Prophet recited supplication before bowing.Abu Dawud said: This version of tradition is not well know. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25309Narrated Aisha; Ummul Muminin: The people complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of the lack of rain; so he gave an order for a pulpit. It was then set up for him in the place of prayer. He fixed a day for the people on which they should come out. Aisha said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; when the rim of the sun appeared; sat down on the pulpit; and having pronounced the greatness of Allah and expressed His praise; he said: You have complained of drought in your homes; and of the delay in receiving rain at the beginning of its season. Allah has ordered you to supplicate Him has and promised that He will answer your prayer. Then he said: Praise be to Allah; the Lord of the Universe; the Compassionate; the Merciful; the Master of the Day of Judgment. There is no god but Allah Who does what He wishes. O Allah; Thou art Allah; there is no deity but Thou; the Rich; while we are the poor. Send down the rain upon us and make what Thou sendest down a strength and satisfaction for a time. He then raised his hands; and kept raising them till the whiteness under his armpits was visible. He then turned his back to the people and inverted or turned round his cloak while keeping his hands aloft. He then faced the people; descended and prayed two rakahs. Allah then produced a cloud; and the storm of thunder and lightning came on. Then the rain fell by Allah permission; and before he reached his Masjid streams were flowing. When he saw the speed with which the people were seeking shelter; he ﷺ laughed till his back teeth were visible. Then he said: I testify that Allah is Omnipotent and that I am Allah servant and apostle.Abu Dawud said: This is a ghraib rate tradition; but its chain is sound. The people of Medina recite maliki instead of maaliki yawm Aldin the master of the Day Of Judgment. The version of Jarir adds: Zubaid said that Ibrahim Bin Suwaid said: There is no god but Allah alone who has no partner; to him belongs the dominion; to him praise is due; and He is omnipotent. I ask thee for the good of what this night contains; and the good of what comes after it; and I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of what this night contains; and from the evil of what comes after it. He said: He then raised his head after bowing and uttered:Allah listens to him who praises Him; to Thee; our Lord; be the praise; and raised his hands. He then uttered: Allah is most great; then he prostrated himself and rested on his palms; knees; and the end of his toes while prostrating: then he uttered the Takbir Allah is most great ; and sat down on his hips and raised his other foot; then he uttered the takbir and prostrated himself; then he uttered takbir and stood up; but did not sit on his hips. He the narrator then narrated the rest of the tradition. He further said: Then he sat down at the end of two rakahs; when he was about to stand after two rakahs; he uttered the takbir; then he offered the last two rakahs of the prayer. The Garden is true and the Fire is true and the Hour is true. O Allah; I submit toYou and I accept You and I trust in You and I turn to You and I argue by You and I summon toYou for judgement. Forgive me what I have sent before me and what I have left behind; what I have kept secret and what I have proclaimed; You are my god - there is no god but You. MuwataMalik-017-001-34786Malik related to me from Hisham Ibn Urwa that his father said that there was only one hadd against a man who slandered a group of people. Malik said; If they are on separate occasions there is still only one hadd against him. Malik related to me from Ab AlRijal Muhammad Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Haritha Ibn AlNuman AlAnsari; then from the Banun-Najar from his mother Amra bint Abdulrahman that two men cursed each other in the time of Umar Ibn AlKhattab. One of them said to the other; By Allah; my father is not an adulterer and my mother is not an adulteress. Umar Ibn AlKhattab asked advice about that. One person said; He has praised his father and mother. Another said; His father and mother have praise other than this. We think that he is to be flogged with the hadd. So Umar flogged him with the hadd of eighty lashes. Malik said; There is no hadd in our view except for slander; denial or insinuation; in which one sees that the speaker intends by that denial or slander. Then the hadd is completely imposed on the one who said it. Malik said; What is done in our community when a man denies that another man is from his father; is that he deserves the hadd. MuwataMalik-017-001-35986Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah Ibn Umar that when the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; returned from a military expedition or a hajj or an umra; he used to say three takbirs on every elevated part of the land; and then he used to say; There is no god but Allah; alone; without partner. To Him belongs the Kingdom and to Him belongs the praise and He has power over everything. Returning; making tawba; serving; prostrating; praising our Lord. So I said; Abu Huraira; sometimes I am behind the imam.Hepulled my forearm and said; Recite it to yourself; O Persian; for I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say that Allah the Blessed; the Exalted; said; I have divided the prayer into two halves between me and my slave. One half of it is for Me and one half of it is for IVly slave; and My slave has what he asks. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Recite.
