SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2148Narrated Sahl Bin Saad AlSaid: A man passed by Allah Messenger ﷺ and the Prophet ﷺ asked a man sitting beside him; What is your opinion about this passer-by ? He replied; This passer-by is from the noble class of people. By Allah; if he should ask for a lady hand in marriage; he ought to be given her in marriage; and if he intercedes for somebody; his intercession will be accepted. Allah Messenger ﷺ kept quiet; and then another man passed by and Allah Messenger ﷺ asked the same man his companion again; What is your opinion about this second one? He said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This person is one of the poor Muslims. If he should ask a lady hand in marriage; no-one will accept him; and if he intercedes for somebody; no one will accept his intercession; and if he talks; no-one will listen to his talk. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said; This poor man is better than such a large number of the first type i.e. rich men as to fill the earth. The Chapter on Allah And Prophets And Comanions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The superiority of being poor in Sahih AlBukhari

I told him; I am reduced to this state because of illness and I am wealthy and have no inheritors except a daughter; In this narration the name of Amir Bin Saad is mentioned and in fact it is a mistake; the narrator is Aisha bint Saad Bin Abi Waqqas. Should I give two-thirds of my property in charity? He said; No. I asked; Half? He said; No. then he added; Onethird; and even one-third is much. Youd better leave your inheritors wealthy rather than leaving them poor; begging others. You will get a reward for whatever you spend for Allah sake; even for what you put in your wife mouth. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Will I be left alone after my companions have gone? He said; If you are left behind; whatever good deeds you will do will upgrade you and raise you high. And perhaps you will have a long life so that some people will be benefited by you while others will be harmed by you. O Allah! So; he sent them an angel who came to the leper and said; What thing do you like most? He replied; Good color and good skin; for the people have a strong aversion to me. The angel touched him and his illness was cured; and he was given a good color and beautiful skin. The angel asked him; What kind of property do you like best? He replied; Camels or cows. The narrator is in doubt; for either the leper or the bald-headed man demanded camels and the other demanded cows. So he i.e. the leper was given a pregnant camel; and the angel said to him ; May Allah bless you in it. The angel then went to the bald-headed man and said; What thing do you like most? He said; I like good hair and wish to be cured of this disease; for the people feel repulsion for me. The angel touched him and his illness was cured; and he was given good hair. The angel asked him ; What kind of property do you like best? He replied; Cows; The angel gave him a pregnant cow and said; May Allah bless you in it. The angel went to the blind man and asked; What thing do you like best? He said; I like that Allah may restore my eye-sight to me so that I may see the people. The angel touched his eyes and Allah gave him back his eye-sight. The angel asked him; What kind of property do you like best? He replied; Sheep. The angel gave him a pregnant sheep. Afterwards; all the three pregnant animals gave birth to young ones; and multiplied and brought forth so much that one of the three men had a herd of camels filling a valley; and one had a herd of cows filling a valley; and one had a flock of sheep filling a valley. Then the angel; disguised in the shape and appearance of a leper; went to the leper and said; I am a poor man; who has lost all means of livelihood while on a journey. So none will satisfy my need except Allah and then you. In the Name of Him Who has given you such nice color and beautiful skin; and so much property; I ask you to give me a camel so that I may reach my destination. The man replied; I have many obligations so I cannot give you. The angel said; I think I know you; were you not a leper to whom the people had a strong aversion? Werent you a poor man; and then Allah gave you all this property. He replied; This is all wrong ; I got this property through inheritance from my fore-fathers. The angel said; If you are telling a lie; then let Allah make you as you were before. Then the angel; disguised in the shape and appearance of a bald man; went to the bald man and said to him the same as he told the first one; and he too answered the same as the first one did. The angel said; If you are telling a lie; then let Allah make you as you were before. The angel; disguised in the shape of a blind man; went to the blind man and said; I am a poor man and a traveler; whose means of livelihood have been exhausted while on a journey. I have nobody to help me except Allah; and after Him; you yourself. I ask you in the Name of Him Who has given you back your eye-sight to give me a sheep; so that with its help; I may complete my journey. The man said; No doubt; I was blind and Allah gave me back my eye-sight; I was poor and Allah made me rich; so take anything you wish from my property. By Allah; I will not stop you for taking anything you need of my property which you may take for Allah sake. The angel replied; Keep your property with you. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6867Narrated Ibn Abbas: Abu Sufyan narrated to me personally; saying; I set out during the Truce that had been concluded between me and Allah Messenger ﷺ. While I was in Sham; a letter sent by the Prophet ﷺ was brought to Heraclius. Dihya AlKalbi had brought and given it to the governor of Busra; and the latter forwarded it to Heraclius. Heraclius said; Is there anyone from the people of this man who claims to be a prophet? The people replied; Yes. So I along with some of Quraishi men were called and we entered upon Heraclius; and we were seated in front of him. Then he said; Who amongst you is the nearest relative to the man who claims to be a prophet? So they made me sit in front of him and made my companions sit behind me. Then he called upon his translator and said to him. Tell them i.e. Abu Sufyan companions that I am going to ask him i.e. Abu Sufyan regarding that man who claims to be a prophet. So; if he tell me a lie; they should contradict him instantly. By Allah; had I not been afraid that my companions would consider me a liar; I would have told lies. Heraclius then said to his translator; Ask him: What is his i.e. the Prophets family status amongst you? I said; He belongs to a noble family amongst us. Heraclius said; Was any of his ancestors a king? I said; No. He said; Did you ever accuse him of telling lies before his saying what he has said? I said; No. He said; Do the nobles follow him or the poor people? I said; It is the poor who followed him. He said; Is the number of his follower increasing or decreasing? I said; The are increasing. He said; Does anyone renounce his religion i.e. Islam after embracing it; being displeased with it? I said; No. He said; Did you fight with him? I replied; Yes. He said; How was your fighting with him? I said; The fighting between us was undecided and victory was shared by him and us by turns. He inflicts casualties upon us and we inflict casualties upon him. He said; Did he ever betray? I said; No; but now we are away from him in this truce and we do not know what he will do in it Abu Sufyan added; By Allah; I was not able to insert in my speech a word against him except that. Heraclius said; Did anybody else amongst you ever claimed the same i.e. Islam before him? I said; No. Then Heraclius told his translator to tell me i.e. Abu Sufyan ; I asked you about his family status amongst you; and you told me that he comes from a noble family amongst you Verily; all Apostles come from the noblest family among their people. Then I asked you whether any of his ancestors was a king; and you denied that. Thereupon I thought that had one of his fore-fathers been a king; I would have said that he i.e. Muhammad was seeking to rule the kingdom of his fore-fathers. Then I asked you regarding his followers; whether they were the noble or the poor among the people; and you said that they were only the poor who follow him. In fact; such are the followers of the Apostles. Then I asked you whether you have ever accused him of telling lies before saying what he said; and your reply was in the negative. Therefore; I took for granted that a man who did not tell a lie about others; could ever tell a lie about Allah. Then I asked you whether anyone of his followers had renounced his religion i.e. Islam after embracing it; being displeased with it; and you denied that. And such is Faith when it mixes with the cheerfulness of the hearts. Then I asked you whether his followers were increasing or decreasing. You claimed that they were increasing. That is the way of true faith till it is complete. Then I asked you whether you had ever fought with him; and you claimed that you had fought with him and the battle between you and him was undecided and the victory was shared by you and him in turns; he inflicted casual ties upon you and you inflicted casualties upon them. Such is the case with the Apostles; they are out to test and the final victory is for them. Then I asked you whether he had ever betrayed; you claimed that he had never betrayed. I need; Apostles never betray. Then I asked you whether anyone had said this statement before him; and you denied that. Thereupon I thought if somebody had said that statement before him; then I would have said that he was but a man copying some sayings said before him. Abu Safyan said; Heraclius then asked me; What does he order you to do? I said; He orders us to offer prayers and to pay Zakat and to keep good relationship with the Kith and kin and to be chaste. Then Heraclius said; If whatever you have said; is true; he is really a prophet; and I knew that he i.e. the Prophet ﷺ was going to appear; but I never thought that he would be from amongst you. If I were certain that I can reach him; I would like to meet him and if I were with him; I would wash his feet; and his kingdom will expand surely to what is under my feet. Then Heraclius asked for the letter of Allah Messenger ﷺ and read it wherein was written: In the Name of Allah; the Most Beneficent; the Most Merciful. This letter is from Muhammad; Apostle of Allah; to Heraclius; the sovereign of Byzantine........ ﷺ who follows the Right Path. Now then; I call you to embrace Islam. Embrace Islam and you will be saved from Allah Punishment ; embrace Islam; and Allah will give you a double reward; but if you reject this; you will be responsible for the sins of all the people of your kingdom Allah Statement :-O the people of the Scripture Jews and Christians ! Come to a word common to you and us that we worship None but Allah....bear witness that we are Muslims. 3.64 When he finished reading the letter; voices grew louder near him and there was a great hue and cry; and we were ordered to go out. Abu Sufyan added; While coming out; I said to my companions; The situation of Ibn Abu Kabsha i.e. Muhammad has become strong; even the king of Banu Al14 Asfar is afraid of him. So I continued to believe that Allah Messenger ﷺ would be victorious; till Allah made me embrace Islam. AlZuhri said; Heraclius then invited all the chiefs of the Byzantines and had them assembled in his house and said; O group of Byzantines! Do you wish to have a permanent success and guidance and that your kingdom should remain with you? Immediately after hearing that ; they rushed towards the gate like onagers; but they found them closed. Heraclius then said; Bring them back to me. So he called them and said; I just wanted to test the strength of your adherence to your religion. Now I have observed of you that which I like. Then the people fell in prostration before him and became pleased with him. They said: They pray as we pray; and they observe fast as we observe fast; and they give charity but we do not give charity; and they set slaves free but we do not set slaves free. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Shall I not teach you something by which you will catch upon those who have preceded you; and get ahead of those who come after you; only those who do as you do being more excellent than you? They said: Yes; Messenger of Allah. He the Holy Prophet said: Extol Allah; declare His Greatness; and Praise Him thirty-three times after every prayer. Abu Salih said: The poor amongst the emigrants returned to the Messenger of Allah may peace upon him saying: Our brethren; the possessors; of property have heard what we have done and they did the same. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is Allah Grace which He gives to whom He wishes. Sumay reported: I made a mention of this hadith to some members of my family and one of them said: You have forgotten; he the Holy Prophet had said like this : Extol Allah thirty-three time; praise Allah thirty-three times and declare His Greatness thirty-three times. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10176Salamah Bin Sakhr AlAnsari said: I was a man who had an issue with intercourse with a women that none other than me had. When the month of Ramadan entered; I pronounced Zihar upon my wife to last until the end of Ramadan; fearing that I might have an encounter with her during the night; and I would continue doing that until daylight came upon me; and I would not be able to stop. One night while she was serving me; something of her became exposed for me; so I rushed myself upon her. When the morning came I went to my people to inform them about what happened to me. I said: Accompany me to the Messenger of Allah to inform him about my case. They said: No by Allah! We shall not do that; we feat that something will be revealed about us in the Quran; or the Messenger of Allah might say something about us; the disgrace of which will remain upon us. But you do and do whatever you want. He said: So I left and I went to the Messenger of Allah; and informed him of my case. He said: You are the one who did that? I said: I am the one. He said: You are the one who did that? I said: I am the one. He said: You are the one who did that? I said: I am the one; it is before you; so give me Allahs judgment; for I shall be patient with that. He said: Free a slave. He said: I struck the sides of my neck with me hands; and said: No by the One Who sent you with the Truth! I possess nothing besides it. He said: Then fast for two months I said: O Messenger of Allah! Did this occur to me other than when I was fasting? He said: Then feed sixty poor people. I said: By the One Who sent you with the Truth! We have spent these nights of ours hungry without an evening meal. He said: Go to the one with the charity from Banu Ruzaiq; tell him to give it to you; then feed a Wasq of it; on your behalf; to sixty poor people. Then help yourself and your dependants with the remainder of it. He said: I returned to my people and said: I found dejection and bad ideas with you; and I found liberalness and blessing with the Messenger of Allah. He ordered me to take your charity; so give it to me. So they gave it to me.The Chapter on Facts And Alquran in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Chapters on Tafsir in Sunan AlTermithi

SunanAlNasai-017-001-13818It was narrated that Mujahid said: The Khumus that is for Allah and His Messenger was for the Prophet and His relatives; they did not take anything from the Sadaqah. The Prophet was allocated one-fifth of the Khumus; his relatives were allocated one-fifth of the Khumus; the same was allocated to orphans; the poor and they wayfarers. Da if Abu Abdulrahman AlNasi said: Allah; the Majestic is he and Praised; said: And know that whatever of spoils of war that you may gain; verily; one-fifth of it is assigned to Allah; and to the Messenger; and to the near relatives of the Messenger Muhammad ; and also the orphans; AlMasakin the Poor and the wayfarer. His; the Mighty and Sublime; saying to Allah starts the speech since everything is of Allah; the Mighty and Sublime; saying to Allah starts the speech since everything is of Allah; the Mighty and Sublime. And perhaps He only oened His speech about the Fay and the Khumus; mentioning Himself; because that is the noblest of earnings. And He did not attribute Sadaqah to Himself; the Mighty and Sublime; because that is the dirt of people. And Allah knows best.It was said that something should be taken form the spoils of war and placed inside the Kabah; and this is the share that is for Allah; the Mighty and Sublime. The share of the Messenger is to be given to the imam to buy horses and weapons; and to give to whomever he thinks will benefit the people of Islam; and to the people of Hadith; Knowledge; Fiqh and the Quran. The share that is for near relatives should be given to Banu Hashim and Banu AlMuttablib; rich and poor alike; or it was said that it should be given to the poor among them and not to the rich; such as orphans and wayfarers. This is the view that is more appropriate in my view; and Allah knows best. And the young and the old; male and female; are equal in that; because Allah; the mighty and sublime; has allocated it to them and the Messenger of Allah distributed it among them; and there is nothing in the Hadith to indicate that he preferred some of them over others. And there is no scholarly dispute; as far as we know; to suggest that if a man bequeaths one-third of his wealth to such a tribe; to be distributed out among them equally; that it should be done otherwise; unless the giver stipulated otherwise. And Allah is the source of strength. And there is a share for the orphans among the Muslims; and a share for the poor among the Muslims; and a share for the wayfarers among the Muslims. No one should be given both a share for the poor and a share for the wayfarer; it is to be said to him: Take whichever of them you want. AlAbbas said: Pass judgment between him and I. the people said: Pass judgment between them. Umar said: I will not pass judgment between them. They know that the Messenger of Allah said: We are not inherited from; what we leave behind is charity. He said: And in this narration of it AlZuhri said: It the Khumus was under the control of the Messenger of Allah ; and he took provision for himself and for his family from it; and disposed to the rest of it as he disposed of other wealth belonging to the Muslims. Then Abu Bakr took control of it; then I took control of it after Abu Bakr; and I did with it what he sued to do. Then these two came to me and asked me to give it to them so that they could dispose of it as the Messenger of Allah disposed of it; and as Abu Bakr disposed of it; and as I disposed of it. So I gave it to them and I took promises from them that they would take proper care of it. Then they came to me and this one said. Give me my share from my brothers son: and this one said: Give me my share from my wife. If they want me to give it to them on the condition that they would dispose of it in the same manner as the Messenger of Allah did; and as Abu Bakr did; and as I did; I would give it to them; but if they refuse; then they do not have to worry about it. Then he said: And know that whatever of spoils of war that you may gain; verily; one-fifth of it is assigned to Allah; and to the Messenger; and to the near relatives of the Messenger Muhammad ; and also the orphans; AlMasakin the poor and the wayfarer AlAnfal 8:41 this if for them. AlSadaqat here it means Zakah are only for the Fuqara poor ; and AlMasakin the poor and those employed to collect the funds ; and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined toward Islam ; and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allah cause I.e. for Mujahidun - those fighting in a holy battle - this is for them. And what Allah gave as booty Fay to His Messenger Muhammad from them - for this you made no expeditin with either cavalry or camels. AlZuhri said: This applies exclusively to the Messenger of Allah and refers to an Arab village called Fadak; and so on. What Allah gave as booty Fay to His Messenger Muhammad from the people of the townships - it is for Allah; His Messenger Muhammad ; the kindred of Messenger Muhammad ; the orphans; AlMasakin the poor ; and the wayfarer And there is also a share in this booty for the poor emigrants; who were expelled from their homes and their property And it is also for those who; before them; had homes in AlMadinah and had adopted the Faith And those who came after them. These is no one left among the Muslims but he has some rights to this wealth; except for some of the slaved whom you own. If I live; if Allah wills; I will give every Muslim his right. When the month of Ramadan came; I feared lest I should have intercourse with my wife; and this evil should remain with me till the morning. So I made my wife like my mother back to me till the end of Ramadan. But one night when she was waiting upon me; something of her was revealed. Suddenly I jumped upon her. I said: Whatever I suffered is due to fasting. He said: Feed sixty poor people with a wasq of dates. MuwataMalik-017-001-34705Yahya related to me from Malik from Abuz-Zinad from AlAraj from Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; The very poor are not the people who constantly walk from person to person and are given one or two morsels; and one or two dates. They said; Who are the very poor; Messenger of Allah? He said; People who do not find enough for themselves and other people are not aware of them to give sadaqa to them; and they do not start begging from other people. The Chapter on Wealth And Fasting in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Purity in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35072Yahya related to me from Malik that Yazid Ibn Abdullah Ibn Qusayt saw Said Ibn AlMusayab sell gold counterpoising for gold. He poured his gold into one pan of the scales; and the man with whom he was counterpoising put his gold in the other pan of the scale and when the tongue of the scales was balanced; they took and gave. Malik said; According to the way things are done among us there is no harm in selling gold for gold; and silver for silver by counterpoising weight; even if 11 dinars are taken for 10 dinars hand to hand; when the weight of gold is equal; coin for coin; even if the number is different. Dirhams in such a situation are treated the same way as dinars. Malik said; If; when counterpoising gold for gold or silver for silver; there is a difference of weight; one party should not give the other the value of the difference in silver or something else. Such a transaction is ugly and a means to usury because if one of the parties were permitted to take the difference for a separate price; it could be as if he had bought it separately; so he would be permitted. Then it would be possible for him to ask for many times the value of the difference in order to permit the completion of the transaction between the two parties. Malik said; If he had really been sold the difference without anything else with it; he would not have taken it for a tenth of the price for which he took it in order to put a legal front on the transaction. This leads to allowing what is forbidden. The matter is forbidden. Malik said that it was not good when counterpoising to give good old gold coins and put along with them unminted gold in exchange for worn kufic gold; which was unpopular and to then treat the exchange as like for like. Malik said; The commentary on why that is disapproved is that the owner of the good gold uses the excellence of his old gold coins as an excuse to throw in the unminted gold with it. Had it not been for the superiority of his good gold over the gold of the other party; the other party would not have counterpoised the unminted gold for his kufic gold; and the deal would have been refused. It is like a man wanting to buy three sa of ajwa dried dates for two sa and a mudd of kabis dates; and on being told that it was not good; then offering two sa of kabis and a sa of poor dates desiring to make the sale possible. That is not good because the owner of the ajwa should not give him a sa of ajwa for a sa of poor dates. He would only give him that because of the excellence of kabis dates. Or it is like a man asking some one to sell him three sa of white wheat for two and a half sa of Syrian wheat; and being told that it was not good except like for like; and so offering two sa of wheat and one sa of barley intending to make the sale possible between them. That is not good because no one would have given a sa of barley for a sa of white wheat had that sa been by itself. It was only given because of the excellence of Syrian wheat over the white wheat. This is not good. It is the same as the case of the unminted gold. Malik said; Where gold; silver and food; things which should only be sold like for like; are concerned; something disliked and of poor quality should not be put with something good and desirable in order to make the sale possible and to make a bad situation halal. When something of desirable quality is put with something of poor quality and it is only included so that its excellence in quality is noticed; something is being sold which if it had been sold on its own; would not have been accepted and to which the buyer would not have paid any attention. It is only accepted by the buyer because of the superiority of what comes with it over his own goods. Transactions involving gold; silver; or food; must not have anything of this description enter into them. If the owner of the poor quality goods wants to sell them; he sells them on their own; and does not put anything with them. There is no harm if it is like that. The Chapter on Precious Metals And Buying And Selling Gold in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Drinks in Muwata Malik

The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Let me know if she dies. Her bier was brought out at night- time and they did not want to wake up the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace. In the morning the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was told what had happened to her and he said; Didnt I tell you to let me know if she died? MuwataMalik-017-001-35820Malik said; Allah; the Blessed and Exalted; says; O you who trust; do not kill game while you are in ihram. Whoever of you kills game intentionally has to pay a forfeit commensurate with what he has killed in cattle which two men from among you shall judge; a sacrificial animal which reaches the Kaba; or else he makes a kaffara of either feeding poor people or the equivalent of that in fasting; so that he may taste the consequences of what he has done. Surat 5 ayat 95. Malik said; Someone who hunts game when he is not in ihram and then kills it while he is in ihram is in the same position as someone who buys game while he is in ihram and then kills it. Allah has forbidden killing it; and so a man who does so has to pay a forfeit for it. The position that we go by in this matter is that a forfeit is assessed for anyone who kills game while he is in ihram. Yahya said that Malik said; The best that I have heard about someone who kills game and is assessed for it is that the game which he has killed is assessed and its value in food is estimated and with that food he feeds each poor man a mudd; or fasts a day in place of each mudd. The number of poor men is considered; and if it is ten then he fasts ten days; and if it is twenty he fasts twenty days; according to how many people there are to be fed; even if there are more than sixty. Malik said; I have heard that a forfeit is assessed for someone who kills game in the Haram while he is not in ihram in the same way that it is assessed for some one who kills game in the Haram while he is in ihram. The Chapter on Killing In The State Of Ihram in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35902Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Abdullah Ibn Abbas used to say; The least difficult thing acceptable as a sacrificial animal is a sheep. Malik said; That is what I like most out of what I have heard about the matter; because Allah; the Blessed and Exalted; says in His Book; O you who trust; do not kill game while you are in ihram. Whoever of you kills it intentionally; there shall be repayment the like of what he has slain; from livestock; as shall be judged by two men of justice among you; a sacrificial animal which will reach the Kaba; or food for poor people; or the equivalent of that in fasting; Surat 5 ayat 95 and a sheep is one of the animals which is judged to be acceptable as a sacrifice. Allah has called it a sacrificial animal; and there is no dispute among us about the matter. How; indeed; could anyone be in doubt about the matter? A sheep is the kaffara for anything which does not reach the extent of something for which a camel or a cow would be the kaffara; and the kaffara for something which does not reach the extent of something for which a sheep would be the kaffara is fasting; or feeding poor people. The Chapter on Live Stock Sheep For Food in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Business Transactions in Muwata Malik
