Butter and honey were dropping from it and I saw the people gathering it in their hands; some gathering much and some a little. And behold; there was a rope extending from the earth to the sky; and I saw that you the Prophet held it and went up; and then another man held it and went up and after that another third held it and went up; and then after another fourth man held it; but it broke and then got connected again. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Let my father be sacrificed for you! Allow me to interpret this dream. The Prophet ﷺ said to him; Interpret it. Abu Bakr said; The cloud with shade symbolizes Islam; and the butter and honey dropping from it; symbolizes the Quran; its sweetness dropping and some people learning much of the Quran and some a little. The rope which is extended from the sky to the earth is the Truth which you the Prophet are following. You follow it and Allah will raise you high with it; and then another man will follow it and will rise up with it and another person will follow it and then another man will follow it but it will break and then it will be connected for him and he will rise up with it. O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Let my father be sacrificed for you! Am I right or wrong? The Prophet replied; You are right in some of it and wrong in some. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Prophet! By Allah; you must tell me in what I was wrong. The Prophet ﷺ said; Do not swear. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2609		Narrated Anas: A man came to the Prophet ﷺ on a Friday while he the Prophet was delivering a sermon at Medina; and said; There is lack of rain; so please invoke your Lord to bless us with the rain. The Prophet ﷺ looked at the sky when no cloud could be detected. Then he invoked Allah for rain. Clouds started gathering together and it rained till the Medina valleys started flowing with water. It continued raining till the next Friday. Then that man or some other man stood up while the Prophet ﷺ was delivering the Friday sermon; and said; We are drowned; Please invoke your Lord to withhold it rain from us The Prophet smiled and said twice or thrice; O Allah! Please let it rain round about us and not upon us. The clouds started dispersing over Medina to the right and to the left; and it rained round about Medina and not upon Medina. Allah showed them the people the miracle of His Prophet and His response to his invocation. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-337		Narrated Sharik Bin Abdullah Bin Abi Namir: I heard Anas Bin Malik saying; On a Friday a person entered the main Masjid through the gate facing the pulpit while Allah Messenger ﷺ was delivering the Khutba. The man stood in front of Allah Apostle and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The livestock are dying and the roads are cut off; so please pray to Allah for rain. Anas added; Allah Messenger ﷺ ﷺ raised both his hands and said; O Allah! Bless us with rain! O Allah! Bless us with rain! O Allah! Bless us with rain! Anas added; By Allah; we could not see any trace of cloud in the sky and there was no building or a house between us and the mountains of Sila. Anas added; A heavy cloud like a shield appeared from behind it i.e. Sila Mountain. When it came in the middle of the sky; it spread and then rained. Anas further said; By Allah! We could not see the sun for a week. Next Friday a person entered through the same gate and at that time Allah Messenger ﷺ was delivering the Friday Khutba. The man stood in front of him and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The livestock are dying and the roads are cut off; please pray to Allah to withhold rain. Anas added; Allah Messenger ﷺ I raised both his hands and said; O Allah! Round about us and not on us. O Allah! On the plateaus; on the mountains; on the hills; in the valleys and on the places where trees grow. So the rain stopped and we came out walking in the sun. Sharik asked Anas whether it was the same person who had asked for the rain the last Friday. Anas replied that he did not know. Anas added; By Allah; there were no clouds in the sky and there was no house or building between us and the mountain of Sila. Then a big cloud like a shield appeared from behind it i.e. Silas Mountain and when it came in the middle of the sky; it spread and then rained. By Allah! We could not see the sun for a week. The next Friday; a person entered through the same gate and Allah Messenger ﷺ was delivering the Friday Khutba and the man stood in front of him and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The livestock are dying and the roads are cut off; Please pray to Allah to withhold rain. Anas added; Allah Messenger ﷺ raised both his hands and said; O Allah! Round about us and not on us. O Allah! There is no rain drought ; the trees have dried and the livestock are destroyed; Please pray to Allah for rain. So Allah Messenger ﷺ said twice; O Allah! Bless us with rain. By Allah; there was no trace of cloud in the sky and suddenly the sky became overcast with clouds and it started raining. The Prophet ﷺ came down the pulpit and offered the prayer. When he came back from the prayer to his house it was raining and it rained continuously till the next Friday. When the Prophet started delivering the Friday Khutba sermon ; the people started shouting and said to him; The houses have collapsed and the roads are cut off; so please pray to Allah to withhold the rain. So the Prophet ﷺ smiled and said; O Allah! Round about us and not on us. So the sky became clear over Medina but it kept on raining over the outskirts of Medina and not a single drop of rain fell over Median. I looked towards the sky which was as bright and clear as a crown. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-357		Narrated Anas Bin Malik: In the lifetime of Allah Messenger ﷺ ﷺ the people were afflicted with a famine year. While the Prophet was delivering the Khutba sermon on the pulpit on a Friday; a Bedouin stood up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The livestock are dying and the families offspring are hungry: please pray to Allah to bless us with rain. Allah Messenger ﷺ raised both his hands towards the sky and at that time there was not a trace of cloud in they sky. Then the clouds started gathering like mountains. Before he got down from the pulpit I saw rainwater trickling down his beard. It rained that day; the next day; the third day; the fourth day and till the next Friday; when the same Bedouin or some other person stood up during the Friday Khutba and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The houses have collapsed and the livestock are drowned. Please invoke Allah for us. So Allah Messenger ﷺ raised both his hands and said; O Allah! Around us and not on us. Whichever side the Prophet ﷺ directed his hand; the clouds dispersed from there till a hole in the clouds was formed over Medina. The valley of Qanat remained flowing with water for one month and none; came from outside who didnt talk about the abundant rain. So while the Prophet was delivering a sermon on a Friday a man got up saying; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The horses and sheep have perished. Will you invoke Allah to bless us with rain? The Prophet ﷺ lifted both his hands and invoked. The sky at that time was as clear as glass. Suddenly a wind blew; raising clouds that gathered together; and it started raining heavily. We came out of the Masjid wading through the flowing water till we reached our homes. It went on raining till the next Friday; when the same man or some other man stood up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The houses have collapsed; please invoke Allah to withhold the rain. On that the Prophet ﷺ smiled and said; O Allah; let it rain around us and not on us. I then looked at the clouds to see them separating forming a sort of a crown round Medina. Our possessions are being destroyed and the children are hungry; Please invoke Allah for rain. So the Prophet ﷺ raised his hands. At that time there was not a trace of cloud in the sky. By Him in Whose Hands my soul is as soon as he lowered his hands; clouds gathered like mountains; and before he got down from the pulpit; I saw the rain falling on the beard of the Prophet. It rained that day; the next day; the third day; the fourth day till the next Friday. The same Bedouin or another man stood up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The houses have collapsed; our possessions and livestock have been drowned; Please invoke Allah to protect us. So the Prophet ﷺ raised both his hands and said; O Allah! Round about us and not on us. So; in whatever direction he pointed with his hands; the clouds dispersed and cleared away; and Medina sky became clear as a hole in between the clouds. The valley of Qanat remained flooded; for one month; none came from outside but talked about the abundant rain. But all of a sudden a cloud came and it rained. Then the prayer was established they stood for the prayer and Allah Messenger ﷺ prostrated in mud and water and I saw mud over the forehead and the nose of the Prophet. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6895		Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: During the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ some people said; : O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? The Prophet ﷺ said; Yes; do you have any difficulty in seeing the sun at midday when it is bright and there is no cloud in the sky? They replied; No. He said; Do you have any difficulty in seeing the moon on a full moon night when it is bright and there is no cloud in the sky? They replied; No. The Prophet ﷺ said; Similarly you will have no difficulty in seeing Allah on the Day of Resurrection as you have no difficulty in seeing either of them. On the Day of Resurrection; a call-maker will announce; Let every nation follow that which they used to worship. Then none of those who used to worship anything other than Allah like idols and other deities but will fall in Hell Fire ; till there will remain none but those who used to worship Allah; both those who were obedient i.e. good and those who were disobedient i.e. bad and the remaining party of the people of the Scripture. Then the Jews will be called upon and it will be said to them; Who do you use to worship? They will say; We used to worship Ezra; the son of Allah. It will be said to them; You are liars; for Allah has never taken anyone as a wife or a son. What do you want now? They will say; O our Lord! We are thirsty; so give us something to drink. They will be directed and addressed thus; Will you drink; whereupon they will be gathered unto Hell Fire which will look like a mirage whose different sides will be destroying each other. Then they will fall into the Fire. Afterwards the Christians will be called upon and it will be said to them; Who do you use to worship? They will say; We used to worship Jesus; the son of Allah. It will be said to them; You are liars; for Allah has never taken anyone as a wife or a son; Then it will be said to them; What do you want? They will say what the former people have said. Then; when there remain in the gathering none but those who used to worship Allah Alone; the real Lord of the Worlds whether they were obedient or disobedient. Then Allah the Lord of the worlds will come to them in a shape nearest to the picture they had in their minds about Him. It will be said; What are you waiting for? Every nation have followed what they used to worship. They will reply; We left the people in the world when we were in great need of them and we did not take them as friends. Now we are waiting for our Lord Whom we used to worship. Allah will say; I am your Lord. They will say twice or thrice; We do not worship any besides Allah. Gabriel came to him and said; The night you are looking for is ahead of you. So the Prophet ﷺ performed the Itikaf in the middle second ten days of the month of Ramadan and we too performed Itikaf with him. Gabriel came to him and said; The night which you are looking for is ahead of you. In the morning of the 20th of Ramadan the Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon saying; Whoever has performed Itikaf with me should continue it. I have been shown the Night of Qadr; but have forgotten its date; but it is in the odd nights of the last ten nights. I saw in my dream that I was prostrating in mud and water. In those days the roof of the Masjid was made of branches of date-palm trees. At that time the sky was clear and no cloud was visible; but suddenly a cloud came and it rained. The Prophet ﷺ led us in the prayer and I saw the traces of mud on the forehead and on the nose of Allah Messenger ﷺ. So it was the confirmation of that dream. He said to him: Servant of Allah; what is your name? he said: So and so. And it was that very name which he had heard from the clouds. and he said to him: Servant of Allah; why do you ask me my name? He said: I heard a voice from the clouds of which is the downpour; saying: Water the garden of so and so; like your name. What do you do for the favour shown to you by Allah in this matter? He said: Now as you state so. I look what yield I get from it; and I give one-third as charity out of it and I and my children eat one-third of it and one-third I return to it as investment. SahihMuslim-017-001-22408		Abu Salama reported: We discussed amongst ourselves Lailat AlQadr. I came to Abu Saeed AlKhudri Allah be pleased with him who was a friend of mine and said to him: Would you not go with us to the garden of date trees? He went out with a cloak over him. I said to him: Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ making mention of Lailat AlQadr? He said: Yes; and added we were observing itikaf with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the middle ten days of Ramadan; and came out on the morning of the twentieth and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us and said: I was shown Lailat AlQadr; but I forgot the exact night or I was caused to forget it; so seek it in the last ten odd nights ; and I was shown that I was prostrating in water and clay. So he who wanted to observe itikaf with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ should return to the place of itikaf. He Abu Saeed AlKhudri said: And we returned and did not find any patch of cloud in the sky. Then the cloud gathered and there was so heavy a downpour that the roof of the Masjid which was made of the branches of date-palms began to drip. Then there was prayer and I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrating in water and clay till I saw the traces of clay on his forehead. SahihMuslim-017-001-22424		Anas Bin Malik reported that a person entered the Masjid through the door situated on theside of Daral-Qada during Friday prayer and the messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon while standing. He came and stood in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah; the camels died and the passages were blocked; so supplicate Allah to send down rain upon us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and then said: O Allah; send down rain upon us; O Allah; send dowp rain upon us; O Allah; send down rain upon us. Anas said: By Allah; we did not see any cloud or any patch of it; and there was neither any house or building standing between us and the hillock Sala. There appeared a cloud in the shape of a shield from behind it; and as it came high in the sky it spread and then there was a downpour of rain. By Allah; we did not see the sun throughout the week. Then that very man came on the coming Friday through the same door when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing and delivering the sermon. He stood in front of him and said: Messenger of Allah; our animals died and the passages blocked. Supplicate Allah to stop the rain for us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ again raised his hands and said: O Allah; let it rain fall in our suburbs and not on us; O Allah send it down on the hillocks and small mountains and the river-beds and at places where trees grow. The rain stopped; and as we stepped out we were walking in sun- shine. He the narrator said to Sharik: I asked Anas Bin Malik if he was the same man. He said: I do not know. By Allah SWT ; we could not see even a wisp of a cloud in the sky; then a cloud appeared and grew; and it rained. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came down and prayed; and the people departed; and it continued to rain until the following Friday. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to deliver the Khutbah; they called out to him and said: O Prophet of Allah; the houses are destroyed and the routes are cut off. Pray to Allah to take it away from us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said: O Allah; around us and not on us! Then is dispersed from AlMadinah and rain fell around AlMadinah but not a single drop fell on AlMadinah. I looked; and it was in something like a ring. He turned to face the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing and said: O Messenger of Allah; our wealth has been destroyed and the routes have been cut off. Pray to Allah SWT to send us rain. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands then said: O Allah; send us rain. Anas said: By Allah; we had not seen even a wisp of a cloud in the sky and there were no houses or buildings between us and the mountain of Sal. Then a cloud like a shield appeared; and when it reached the middle of the sky it spread and it began to rain. Anas said: By Allah; we did not see the sun for a week. Then a man entered through that door on the following Friday; when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing and delivering the Khutbah. He turned to face him standing and said: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; may Allah SWT send blessings upon you. Our wealth has been destroyed and the routes have been cut off. Pray to Allah SWT to withold the rain from us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and said: O Allah; around us and not on us.; O Allah; on the hills and mountains; the bottoms of the valleys and where the trees grow. Then it stopped raining and we went out walking in the sun. Sharik said: I asked Anas: Was he the same man? While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was giving the Khutbah on the minbar one Friday; a Bedouin stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah wealth has been destroyed and our children are hungry; pray to Allah for us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands; and we could not see even a wisp of a cloud in the sky; but by the One in Whose hand is my soul; he did not lower his hands before clouds like mountains appeared; and he did not come down from his minbar before we saw the rain dripping from his beard. It rained that day and the next day; and the day after; until the following Friday. Then that Bedouin- or he said; Someone else- stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah; buildings have been destroyed and wealth has drowned; pray to Allah SWT for us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and said: O Allah; around us and not on us. He did not point in any direction but the clouds dispersed; until AlMadinah became like a hole. And the valleys ran with water and no one came from any direction but he told us of the heavy rains. Anas said: The sky was like a mirror there was no cloud. Then the wind rose; a cloud appeared in the sky and it spread : the sky poured down the water. The same or some other person stood up and said: Messenger of Allah; the houses have been demolished; pray to Allah to stop it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said: O Allah ; the rain may fall around us but not upon us. Then I looked at the cloud which dispersed around Medina just like a crown. I saw the people spreading their hands. Some of them took much and some a little. I also saw a rope hanging from Heaven to Earth. I saw; Messenger of Allah; that you caught hold of it and ascended by it. Then another man caught hold of it and ascended it. Then another man caught hold of it and ascended it. Then another man caught hold of it; but it broke; and then it was joined and he ascended it. Abu Bakr said: May my parents be sacrificed for you; if you allow; I shall interpret it. He said: Interpret it. He said: The piece of cloud is the cloud of Islam; the ghee and honey that were dropping from it are the Quran; which contains softness and sweetness. Those who received much or little of it are those who learn much or little of the Quran. The rope hanging from Heaven to Earth is the truth which you are following. You catch hold of it and then Allah will raise you to Him. Then another man will catch hold of it and ascend it; Then another man will catch hold of it and it will break. But it will be joined and he will ascend it. Tell me. Messenger of Allah; whether I am right or wrong. He said: You are partly right and partly wrong. He said: I adjure you by Allah; you should tell me where I am wrong. The Prophet ﷺ said: Do not take an oath. They replied: No. He said: By him in whose hand my soul is; you will not feel any trouble in seeing him except as much as you feel in seeing any of them. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27041		Aisha; wife of the prophet ﷺ ; said : I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laugh fully to such an extent that I could see his uvula. He would only smile; and when he saw clouds or wind; his face showed signs of fear. I asked him: Messenger of Allah! When the people see the cloud; they rejoice; hoping for that it may contain rain; and I notice that when you see it; the signs of abomination on your face. He replied: Aishah! What gives me safety from the fact that it might contain punishment? A people were punished by the wind. When those people saw the punishment; they said: this is a cloud which would give us rain. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29366		Narrated Abdullah Ibn Umar: The Prophet ﷺ said: The month consists of twenty-nine days; but do not fast till you sight it the moon and do not break your fast till you sight it. If the weather is cloudy; calculate it thirty days. When the twenty-ninth of Shaban came; Ibn Umar would send someone who tried to sight the moon for him. If it was sighted; then well and good; in case it was not sighted; and there was no cloud and dust before him on the horizon ; he would not keep fast the next day. If there appeared on the horizon before him cloud or dust; he would fast the following day. Ibn Umar would end his fasting alone with the people; and did not follow this calculation. MuwataMalik-017-001-35686		Yahya related to me from Malik that Nafi said; I was with Abdullah Ibn Umar in Makka. The sky was clouded over and Abdullah feared that dawn was approaching so he prayed one raka for witr. Then the clouds cleared and he saw that it was still night; so he made his prayers even with one raka. Then he continued to pray two rakas at a time; until when he feared the approach of dawn; he prayed one raka for witr.
