SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3375Narrated AlMiswar Bin Makhrama: When Umar was stabbed; he showed signs of agony. Ibn Abbas; as if intending to encourage Umar; said to him; O Chief of the believers! Never mind what has happened to you; for you have been in the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ and you kept good relations with him and you parted with him while he was pleased with you. Then you were in the company of Abu Bakr and kept good relations with him and you parted with him i.e. he died while he was pleased with you. Then you were in the company of the Muslims; and you kept good relations with them; and if you leave them; you will leave them while they are pleased with you. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3484Narrated Urwa: that he asked Aisha regarding the Verse: If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans 4.3 She said; O my nephew! This Verse refers to the orphan girl who is under the guardianship of her guardian who likes her beauty and wealth and wishes to marry her and curtails her Mahr. Such guardians have been forbidden to marry them unless they do justice by giving them their full Mahr; and they have been ordered to marry other than them. The people asked for the verdict of Allah Messenger ﷺ after that; so Allah revealed: They ask your instruction concerning the women... whom you desire to marry. 4.127 So Allah revealed to them that if the orphan girl had beauty and wealth; they desired to marry her and for her family status. They can only marry them if they give them their full Mahr. And if they had no desire to marry them because of their lack of wealth and beauty; they would leave them and marry other women. So; as they used to leave them; when they had no interest; in them; they were forbidden to marry them when they had such interest; unless they treated them justly and gave them their full Mahr Apostle said; If at all there is evil omen; it is in the horse; the woman and the house. a lady is to be warded off. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3577Narrated Aisha: Eleven women sat at a place and promised and contracted that they would not conceal anything of the news of their husbands. The first one said; My husband is like the meat of a slim weak camel which is kept on the top of a mountain which is neither easy to climb; nor is the meat fat; so that one might put up with the trouble of fetching it. The second one said; I shall not relate my husband news; for I fear that I may not be able to finish his story; for if I describe him; I will mention all his defects and bad traits. The third one said; My husband; the too-tall! if I describe him and he hears of that he will divorce me; and if I keep quiet; he will keep me hanging neither divorcing me nor treating me as a wife. The fourth one said; My husband is moderate in temper like the night of Tihama: neither hot nor cold; I am neither afraid of him; nor am I discontented with him. The fifth one said; My husband; when entering the house is a leopard sleeps a lot ; and when going out; is a lion boasts a lot. He does not ask about whatever is in the house. The sixth one said; If my husband eats; he eats too much leaving the dishes empty ; and if he drinks he leaves nothing; if he sleeps he sleeps he rolls himself alone in our blankets ; and he does not insert his palm to inquire about my feelings. The seventh one said; My husband is a wrong-doer or weak and foolish. All the defects are present in him. He may injure your head or your body or may do both. The eighth one said; My husband is soft to touch like a rabbit and smells like a Zarnab a kind of good smelling grass. The ninth one said; My husband is a tall generous man wearing a long strap for carrying his sword. His ashes are abundant i.e. generous to his guests and his house is near to the people who would easily consult him. The tenth one said; My husband is Malik possessor ; and what is Malik? Malik is greater than whatever I say about him. He is beyond and above all praises which can come to my mind. Most of his camels are kept at home ready to be slaughtered for the guests and only a few are taken to the pastures. When the camels hear the sound of the lute or the tambourine they realize that they are going to be slaughtered for the guests. The eleventh one said; My husband is Abu Zar and what is Abu Zar i.e.; what should I say about him ? He has given me many ornaments and my ears are heavily loaded with them and my arms have become fat i.e.; I have become fat. And he has pleased me; and I have become so happy that I feel proud of myself. He found me with my family who were mere owners of sheep and living in poverty; and brought me to a respected family having horses and camels and threshing and purifying grain. Whatever I say; he does not rebuke or insult me. When I sleep; I sleep till late in the morning; and when I drink water or milk ; I drink my fill. The mother of Abu Zar and what may one say in praise of the mother of Abu Zar? Her saddle bags were always full of provision and her house was spacious. As for the son of Abu Zar; what may one say of the son of Abu Zar? His bed is as narrow as an unsheathed sword and an arm of a kid of four months satisfies his hunger. As for the daughter of Abu Zar; she is obedient to her father and to her mother. She has a fat well-built body and that arouses the jealousy of her husband other wife. As for the maid slave girl of Abu Zar; what may one say of the maid slavegirl of Abu Zar? She does not uncover our secrets but keeps them; and does not waste our provisions and does not leave the rubbish scattered everywhere in our house. The eleventh lady added; One day it so happened that Abu Zar went out at the time when the milk was being milked from the animals; and he saw a woman who had two sons like two leopards playing with her two breasts. On seeing her he divorced me and married her. Thereafter I married a noble man who used to ride a fast tireless horse and keep a spear in his hand. He gave me many things; and also a pair of every kind of livestock and said; Eat of this ; O Umm Dharr; and give provision to your relatives. She added; Yet; all those things which my second husband gave me could not fill the smallest utensil of Abu Zars. Aisha then said: Allah Messenger ﷺ said to me; I am to you as Abu Zar was to his wife Umm Dharr. The Chapter on Marriage And The House in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To treat the family in a polite and kind manner in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3768Narrated Aisha: the wife of the Prophet I never remembered my parents believing in any religion other than the true religion i.e. Islam ; and I dont remember a single day passing without our being visited by Allah Messenger ﷺ in the morning and in the evening. When the Muslims were put to test i.e. troubled by the pagans ; Abu Bakr set out migrating to the land of Ethiopia; and when he reached Bark AlGhimad; Ibn AlDaghina; the chief of the tribe of Qara; met him and said; O Abu Bakr! Where are you going? Abu Bakr replied; My people have turned me out of my country ; so I want to wander on the earth and worship my Lord. Ibn AlDaghina said; O Abu Bakr! A man like you should not leave his home-land; nor should he be driven out; because you help the destitute; earn their livings; and you keep good relations with your Kith and kin; help the weak and poor; entertain guests generously; and help the calamity-stricken persons. Therefore I am your protector. Go back and worship your Lord in your town. So Abu Bakr returned and Ibn AlDaghina accompanied him. In the evening Ibn AlDaghina visited the nobles of Quraish and said to them. A man like Abu Bakr should not leave his homeland; nor should he be driven out. Do you i.e. Quraish drive out a man who helps the destitute; earns their living; keeps good relations with his Kith and kin; helps the weak and poor; entertains guests generously and helps the calamity-stricken persons? So the people of Quraish could not refuse Ibn AlDaghina protection; and they said to Ibn AlDaghina; Let Abu Bakr worship his Lord in his house. He can pray and recite there whatever he likes; but he should not hurt us with it; and should not do it publicly; because we are afraid that he may affect our women and children. Ibn AlDaghina told Abu Bakr of all that. Abu Bakr stayed in that state; worshipping his Lord in his house. He did not pray publicly; nor did he recite Quran outside his house. Then a thought occurred to Abu Bakr to build a Masjid in front of his house; and there he used to pray and recite the Quran. The women and children of the pagans began to gather around him in great number. They used to wonder at him and look at him. Abu Bakr was a man who used to weep too much; and he could not help weeping on reciting the Quran. That situation scared the nobles of the pagans of Quraish; so they sent for Ibn AlDaghina. When he came to them; they said; We accepted your protection of Abu Bakr on condition that he should worship his Lord in his house; but he has violated the conditions and he has built a Masjid in front of his house where he prays and recites the Quran publicly. We are now afraid that he may affect our women and children unfavorably. So; prevent him from that. If he likes to confine the worship of his Lord to his house; he may do so; but if he insists on doing that openly; ask him to release you from your obligation to protect him; for we dislike to break our pact with you; but we deny Abu Bakr the right to announce his act publicly. Ibn AlDaghina went to Abu Bakr and said; O Abu Bakr! You know well what contract I have made on your behalf; now; you are either to abide by it; or else release me from my obligation of protecting you; because I do not want the Arabs hear that my people have dishonored a contract I have made on behalf of another man. Abu Bakr replied; I release you from your pact to protect me; and am pleased with the protection from Allah. At that time the Prophet ﷺ was in Mecca; and he said to the Muslims; In a dream I have been shown your migration place; a land of date palm trees; between two mountains; the two stony tracts. So; some people migrated to Medina; and most of those people who had previously migrated to the land of Ethiopia; returned to Medina. Abu Bakr also prepared to leave for Medina; but Allah Messenger ﷺ said to him; Wait for a while; because I hope that I will be allowed to migrate also. Abu Bakr said; Do you indeed expect this? Let my father be sacrificed for you! The Prophet ﷺ said; Yes. So Abu Bakr did not migrate for the sake of Allah Messenger ﷺ in order to accompany him. He fed two camels he possessed with the leaves of AlSamur tree that fell on being struck by a stick for four months. One day; while we were sitting in Abu Bakr house at noon; someone said to Abu Bakr; This is Allah Messenger ﷺ with his head covered coming at a time at which he never used to visit us before. Abu Bakr said; May my parents be sacrificed for him. By Allah; he has not come at this hour except for a great necessity. So Allah Messenger ﷺ came and asked permission to enter; and he was allowed to enter. When he entered; he said to Abu Bakr. Tell everyone who is present with you to go away. Abu Bakr replied; There are none but your family. May my father be sacrificed for you; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The Prophet ﷺ said; i have been given permission to migrate. Abu Bakr said; Shall I accompany you? May my father be sacrificed for you; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Yes. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! May my father be sacrificed for you; take one of these two camels of mine. Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; I will accept it with payment. So we prepared the baggage quickly and put some journey food in a leather bag for them. Asma; Abu Bakr daughter; cut a piece from her waist belt and tied the mouth of the leather bag with it; and for that reason she was named Dhat Alun-Nitaqain i.e. the owner of two belts. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr reached a cave on the mountain of Thaur and stayed there for three nights. Abdullah Bin Abi Bakr who was intelligent and a sagacious youth; used to stay with them aver night. He used to leave them before day break so that in the morning he would be with Quraish as if he had spent the night in Mecca. He would keep in mind any plot made against them; and when it became dark he would go and inform them of it. Amir Bin Fuhaira; the freed slave of Abu Bakr; used to bring the milch sheep of his master; Abu Bakr to them a little while after nightfall in order to rest the sheep there. So they always had fresh milk at night; the milk of their sheep; and the milk which they warmed by throwing heated stones in it. Amir Bin Fuhaira would then call the herd away when it was still dark before daybreak. He did the same in each of those three nights. Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr had hired a man from the tribe of Bani AlDail from the family of Bani Abd Bin Adi as an expert guide; and he was in alliance with the family of AlAs Bin Wail AlSahmi and he was on the religion of the infidels of Quraish. The Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr trusted him and gave him their two camels and took his promise to bring their two she camels to the cave of the mountain of Thaur in the morning after three nights later. And when they set out ; Amir Bin Fuhaira and the guide went along with them and the guide led them along the sea-shore.The Chapter on Worship And Alquran In Homes in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The emigration of the Prophet to AlMadina in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3799Narrated Saad Bin Malik: In the year of Hajjat AlWada the Prophet ﷺ visited me when I fell ill and was about to die because of that illness. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I am very ill as you see; and I am a rich man and have no heir except my only daughter. Shall I give 2/3 of my property in charity? He said; No. I said; Shall I then give one half of it in charity? He said; O Sad! Give 1/3 in charity and even 1/3 is too much. No doubt; it is better to leave your children rich than to leave them poor; reduced to begging from others. And Allah will reward you for whatever you spend with the intention of gaining Allah Pleasure even if it were a mouthful of food you put into your wives mouth. I said; O Allah Apostle! Am I to be left behind in Mecca after my companions have gone? He said; If you should be left behind; you will be upgraded and elevated for every deed you will do with a desire to achieve Allah Pleasure. I hope that you will live long so that some people will benefit by you while others will be harmed. O Allah! The Prophet ﷺ lay down and turned his face to the other side. Then Abu Bakr came and spoke to me harshly saying; Musical instruments of Satan near the Prophet ﷺ ? Allah Messenger ﷺ ﷺ turned his face towards him and said; Leave them. When Abu Bakr became inattentive; I signaled to those girls to go out and they left. It was the day of Id; and the Black people were playing with shields and spears; so either I requested the Prophet ﷺ or he asked me whether I would like to see the display. I replied in the affirmative. Then the Prophet ﷺ made me stand behind him and my cheek was touching his cheek and he was saying; Carry on! O Bani Arfida; till I got tired. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3993Narrated Aisha: mother of the believers After the death of Allah Apostle Fatima the daughter of Allah Messenger ﷺ asked Abu Bakr AlSiddiq to give her; her share of inheritance from what Allah Messenger ﷺ had left of the Fai i.e. booty gained without fighting which Allah had given him. Abu Bakr said to her; Allah Apostle said; Our property will not be inherited; whatever we i.e. prophets leave is Sadaqa to be used for charity. Fatima; the daughter of Allah Messenger ﷺ got angry and stopped speaking to Abu Bakr; and continued assuming that attitude till she died. Fatima remained alive for six months after the death of Allah Messenger ﷺ. She used to ask Abu Bakr for her share from the property of Allah Messenger ﷺ which he left at Khaibar; and Fadak; and his property at Medina devoted for charity. Abu Bakr refused to give her that property and said; I will not leave anything Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do; because I am afraid that if I left something from the Prophet tradition; then I would go astray. Later on Umar gave the Prophet property of Sadaqa at Medina to Ali and Abbas; but he withheld the properties of Khaibar and Fadak in his custody and said; These two properties are the Sadaqa which Allah Apostle used to use for his expenditures and urgent needs. Now their management is to be entrusted to the ruler. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3994Narrated Malik Bin Aus: While I was at home; the sun rose high and it got hot. Suddenly the messenger of Umar Bin AlKhattab came to me and said; The chief of the believers has sent for you. So; I went along with him till I entered the place where Umar was sitting on a bedstead made of date-palm leaves and covered with no mattress; and he was leaning over a leather pillow. I greeted him and sat down. He said; O Mali! Some persons of your people who have families came to me and I have ordered that a gift should be given to them; so take it and distribute it among them. I said; O chief of the believers! I wish that you order someone else to do it. He said; O man! Take it. While I was sitting there with him; his doorman Yarfa came saying; Uthman; Abdulrahman Bin Auf; AlZubair and Saad Bin Abi Waqqas are asking your permission to see you ; may I admit them? Umar said; Yes; So they were admitted and they came in; greeted him; and sat down. After a while Yarfa came again and said; May I admit Ali and Abbas? Umar said; yes. So; they were admitted and they came in and greeted him and sat down. Then Abbas said; O chief of the believers! Judge between me and this i.e. Ali. They had a dispute regarding the property of Bani AlNadir which Allah had given to His Apostle as Fai. The group i.e. Uthman and his companions said; O chief of the believers! Judge between them and relieve both of them front each other. Umar said; Be patient! I beseech you by Allah by Whose Permission the Heaven and the Earth exist; do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Our i.e. prophets property will not be inherited; and whatever we leave; is Sadaqa to be used for charity ; and Allah Messenger ﷺ meant himself by saying we ? The group said; He said so. Umar then turned to Ali and Abbas and said; I beseech you by Allah; do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said so? They replied; He said so. Umar then said; So; I will talk to you about this matter. Allah bestowed on His Apostle with a special favor of something of this Fai booty which he gave to nobody else. Umar then recited the Holy Verses: What Allah bestowed as Fai Booty on his Apostle Muhammad from them -- for this you made no expedition with either cavalry or camelry: But Allah gives power to His Apostles over whomever He will And Allah is able to do all things. 9:6 Umar added So this property was especially given to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; but; by Allah; neither did he take possession of it and leave your; nor did he favor himself with it to your exclusion; but he gave it to all of you and distributed it amongst you till this property remained out of it. Allah Messenger ﷺ used to spend the yearly expenses of his family out of this property and used to keep the rest of its revenue to be spent on Allah Cause. Allah Apostle kept on doing this during all his lifetime. I ask you by Allah do you know this? They replies in the affirmative. Umar then said to Ali and Abbas. I ask you by Allah; do you know this? Umar added; When Allah had taken His Prophet unto Him; Abu Bakr said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ so; Abu Bakr took over that property and managed it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do; and Allah knows that he was true; pious and rightlyguided; and he was a follower of what was right. Then Allah took Abu Bakr unto Him and I became Abu Bakr successor; and I kept that property in my possession for the first two years of my Caliphate; managing it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do and as Abu Bakr used to do; and Allah knows that I have been true; pious; rightly guided; and a follower of what is right. Now you both i.e. Ah and Abbas came to talk to me; bearing the same claim and presenting the same case; you; Abbas; came to me asking for your share from your nephew property; and this man; i.e. Ali; came to me asking for his wife share from her father property. I told you both that Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Our prophets properties are not to be inherited; but what we leave is Sadaqa to be used for charity. When I thought it right that I should hand over this property to you; I said to you; I am ready to hand over this property to you if you wish; on the condition that you would take Allah Pledge and Convention that you would manage it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ used to; and as Abu Bakr used to do; and as I have done since I was in charge of it. So; both of you said to me ; Hand it over to us; and on that condition I handed it over to you. So; I ask you by Allah; did I hand it over to them on this condition? The group aid; Yes. Then Umar faced Ali and Abbas saying; I ask you by Allah; did I hand it over to you on this condition? They said; Yes. He said; Do you want now to give a different decision? By Allah; by Whose Leave both the Heaven and the Earth exist; I will never give any decision other than that I have already given. And if you are unable to manage it; then return it to me; and I will do the job on your behalf. The Chapter on Contracts And Disputes Management in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The obligations of Khumus in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4046Narrated Anas Bin Malik: When Allah favored His Apostle with the properties of Hawazin tribe as Fai booty ; he started giving to some Quarries men even up to one-hundred camels each; whereupon some Ansari men said about Allah Messenger ﷺ ; May Allah forgive His Apostle! He is giving to men of Quraish and leaves us; in spite of the fact that our swords are still dropping blood of the infidels When Allah Messenger ﷺ was informed of what they had said; he called the Ansar and gathered them in a leather tent and did not call anybody else along; with them. When they gathered; Allah Messenger ﷺ came to them and said; What is the statement which; I have been informed; and that which you have said? The learned ones among them replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The wise ones amongst us did not say anything; but the youngsters amongst us said; May Allah forgive His Apostle; he gives the Quarish and leaves the Ansar; in spite of the fact that our swords are still dribbling wet with the blood of the infidels. Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; I give to such people as are still close to the period of Infidelity i.e. they have recently embraced Islam and Faith is still weak in their hearts. Wont you be pleased to see people go with fortune; while you return with Allah Messenger ﷺ to your houses? By Allah; what you will return with; is better than what they are returning with. The Ansar replied; Yes; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; we are satisfied Then the Prophet ﷺ said to them. You will find after me; others being preferred to you. He i.e. the Prophet said; May Allah bestow His Mercy on Ibn Afra Saad Bin Khaula. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! May I will all my property in charity ? He said; No. I said; Then may I will half of it? He said; No. I said; One third? He said: Yes; one third; yet even one third is too much. It is better for you to leave your inheritors wealthy than to leave them poor begging others; and whatever you spend for Allah sake will be considered as a charitable deed even the handful of food you put in your wife mouth. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4577Narrated Aisha: Allah Messenger ﷺ came to my house while two girls were singing beside me the songs of Buath a story about the war between the two tribes of the Ansar; i.e. Khazraj and Aus; before Islam. The Prophet ﷺ reclined on the bed and turned his face to the other side. Abu Bakr came and scolded me and said protestingly; Instrument of Satan in the presence of Allah Messenger ﷺ ? Allah Messenger ﷺ turned his face towards him and said; Leave them. When Abu Bakr became inattentive; I waved the two girls to go away and they left. It was the day of Id when negroes used to play with leather shields and spears. Either I requested Allah Messenger ﷺ or he himself asked me whether I would like to see the display. I replied in the affirmative. Then he let me stand behind him and my cheek was touching his cheek and he was saying; Carry on; O Bani Arfida i.e. negroes ! When I got tired; he asked me if that was enough. I replied in the affirmative and he told me to leave. The Chapter on Directions Turning in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The leather shield in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4688Narrated AlBara Bin Azib: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent a group of Ansari men to kill Abu Rafi. One of them set out and entered their i.e. the enemies fort. That man said; I hid myself in a stable for their animals. They closed the fort gate. Later they lost a donkey of theirs; so they went out in its search. I; too; went out along with them; pretending to look for it. They found the donkey and entered their fort. And I; too; entered along with them. They closed the gate of the fort at night; and kept its keys in a small window where I could see them. When those people slept; I took the keys and opened the gate of the fort and came upon Abu Rafi and said; O Abu Rafi. When he replied me; I proceeded towards the voice and hit him. He shouted and I came out to come back; pretending to be a helper. I said; O Abu Rafi; changing the tone of my voice. He asked me; What do you want; woe to your mother? I asked him; What has happened to you? He said; I dont know who came to me and hit me. Then I drove my sword into his belly and pushed it forcibly till it touched the bone. Then I came out; filled with puzzlement and went towards a ladder of theirs in order to get down but I fell down and sprained my foot. I came to my companions and said; I will not leave till I hear the wailing of the women. So; I did not leave till I heard the women bewailing Abu Rafi; the merchant pf Hijaz. Then I got up; feeling no ailment; and we proceeded till we came upon the Prophet ﷺ and informed him.The Chapter on Almaghazi And The Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Killing a sleeping Mushrik in Sahih AlBukhari
