SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1186Narrated Zahdam: There were good relations and brotherhood between this tribe of Jurm and the Ashariyin. Once; while we were sitting with Abu Mousa AlAshari; there was brought to him a meal which contained chicken meat; and there was sitting beside him; a man from the tribe of Bani Taim Allah who looked like one of the Mawali. Abu Mousa invited the man to eat but the man said; I have seen chicken eating some dirty things; and I have taken an oath not to eat chicken. Abu Mousa said to him; Come along; let me tell you something in this regard. Once I went to the Prophet ﷺ with a few men from Ashariyin and we asked him for mounts. The Prophet ﷺ said; By Allah; I will not mount you on anything; besides I do not have anything to mount you on. Then a few camels from the war booty were brought to the Prophet; and he asked about us; saying; Where are the group of Ashariyin? So he ordered for five fat camels to be given to us and then we set out. We said; What have we done? Allah Messenger ﷺ took an oath that he would not give us anything to ride and that he had nothing for us to ride; yet he provided us with mounts. We made Allah Messenger ﷺ forget his oath! By Allah; we will never be successful. So we returned to him and reminded him of his oath. He said; I have not provided you with the mount; but Allah has done so. By Allah; I may take an oath to do something; but on finding something else which is better; I do that which is better and make the expiation for my oath. The Chapter on Journeys And Travel And Oaths in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on While Allah has created you and what you make in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2031Narrated Abu Mousa: I went to the Prophet ﷺ along with a group of AlAshariyin in order to request him to provide us with mounts. He said; By Allah; I will not provide you with mounts and I havent got anything to mount you on. Then we stayed there as long as Allah wished us to stay; and then three very nice looking camels were brought to him and he made us ride them. When we left; we; or some of us; said; By Allah; we will not be blessed; as we came to the Prophet ﷺ asking him for mounts; and he swore that he would not give us any mounts but then he did give us. So let us go back to the Prophet ﷺ and remind him of his oath. When we returned to him and reminded him of the fact ; he said; I did not give you mounts; but it is Allah Who gave you. By Allah; Allah willing; if I ever take an oath to do something and then I find something else than the first; I will make expiation for my oath and do the thing which is better or do something which is better and give the expiation for my oath. The Chapter on Oaths And Pledges And Kaffara in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Allah will not punish you for what is unintentional in your oaths but He will punish you for your deliberate oaths in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2056Narrated Zahdam: There was a relation of love and brotherhood between this tribe of Jarm and AlAshariyin. Once we were with Abu Mousa AlAshari; and then a meal containing chicken was brought to Abu Mousa; and there was present; a man from the tribe of Taimillah who was of red complexion as if he were from non-Arab freed slaves. Abu Mousa invited him to the meal. He said; I have seen chickens eating dirty things; so I deemed it filthy and took an oath that I would never eat chicken. On that; Abu Mousa said; Get up; I will narrate to you about that. Once a group of the Ashariyin and I went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and asked him to provide us with mounts; he said; By Allah; I will never give you any mounts nor do I have anything to mount you on. Then a few camels of war booty were brought to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and he asked about us; saying; Where are the AlAshariyin? He then ordered five nice camels to be given to us; and when we had departed; we said; What have we done? Allah Messenger ﷺ had taken the oath not to give us any mounts; and that he had nothing to mount us on; and later he gave us that we might ride? Did we take advantage of the fact that Allah Messenger ﷺ had forgotten his oath? By Allah; we will never succeed. So we went back to him and said to him; We came to you to give us mounts; and you took an oath that you would not give us any mounts and that you had nothing to mount us on. On that he said; I did not provide you with mounts; but Allah did. A man from the tribe of Bani Taim Allah with red complexion as if he were from the Byzantine war prisoners; was present. Abu Mousa invited him to share the meal but he apologised saying. I saw chickens eating dirty things and so I have had a strong aversion to eating them; and have taken an oath that I will not eat chickens. Abu Mousa said; Come along; I will tell you about this matter i.e. how to cancel one oath. I went to the Prophet ﷺ in the company of a group of AlAshariyin; asked him to provide us with means of conveyance. He said; By Allah; I will not provide you with any means of conveyance and I have nothing to make you ride on. Then some camels as booty were brought to Allah Messenger ﷺ and he asked for us saying. Where are the group of AlAshariyun? Then he ordered that we should be given five camels with white humps. When we set out we said; What have we done? We will never be blessed with what we have been given. So; we returned to the Prophet ﷺ and said; We asked you to provide us with means of conveyance; but you took an oath that you would not provide us with any means of conveyance. Did you forget your oath when you gave us the camels ? He replied. I have not provided you with means of conveyance; but Allah has provided you with it; and by Allah; Allah willing; if ever I take an oath to do something; and later on I find that it is more beneficial to do something different; I will do the thing which is better; and give expiation for my oath. The Chapter on Oaths And Pledges And Kaffara in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Khumus is to be used for the needs of the Muslims in Sahih AlBukhari

So; they said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Provide us with some milk. Allah Apostle said; I recommend that you should join the herd of camels. So they went and drank the urine and the milk of the camels as a medicine till they became healthy and fat. Then they killed the shepherd and drove away the camels; and they became unbelievers after whey were Muslims. When the Prophet ﷺ was informed by a shouter for help; he sent some men in their pursuit; and before the sun rose high; they were brought; and he had their hands and feet cut off. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5014Narrated Abdullah Bin Umar: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying; Three men from among those who were before you; set out together till they reached a cave at night and entered it. A big rock rolled down the mountain and closed the mouth of the cave. They said to each other ; Nothing could save you from this rock but to invoke Allah by giving reference to the righteous deed which you have done for Allah sake only. So; one of them said; O Allah! I had old parents and I never provided my family wife; children etc. with milk before them. One day; by chance I was delayed; and I came late at night while they had slept. I milked the sheep for them and took the milk to them; but I found them sleeping. I disliked to provide my family with the milk before them. I waited for them and the bowl of milk was in my hand and I kept on waiting for them to get up till the day dawned. Then they got up and drank the milk. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only; please relieve us from our critical situation caused by this rock. So; the rock shifted a little but they could not get out. The Prophet ﷺ added; The second man said; O Allah! I had a cousin who was the dearest of all people to me and I wanted to have sexual relations with her but she refused. Later she had a hard time in a famine year and she came to me and I gave her one-hundred-and-twenty Dinars on the condition that she would not resist my desire; and she agreed. When I was about to fulfill my desire; she said: It is illegal for you to outrage my chastity except by legitimate marriage. So; I thought it a sin to have sexual intercourse with her and left her though she was the dearest of all the people to me; and also I left the gold I had given her. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only; please relieve us from the present calamity. So; the rock shifted a little more but still they could not get out from there. The Prophet ﷺ added; Then the third man said; O Allah! I employed few laborers and I paid them their wages with the exception of one man who did not take his wages and went away. I invested his wages and I got much property thereby. Then after some time he came and said to me: O Allah slave! Pay me my wages. I said to him: All the camels; cows; sheep and slaves you see; are yours. He said: O Allah slave! Dont mock at me. I said: I am not mocking at you. So; he took all the herd and drove them away and left nothing. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only; please relieve us from the present suffering. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6438Narrated Anas Bin Malik: The tribes of Ril; Dhakwan; Usaiya and Bani Lihyan asked Allah Messenger ﷺ to provide them with some men to support them against their enemy. He therefore provided them with seventy men from the Ansar whom we used to call AlQurra in their lifetime. They used to collect wood by daytime and pray at night. When they were at the well of Mauna; the infidels killed them by betraying them. When this news reached the Prophet ﷺ ; he said AlQunut for one month In the morning prayer; invoking evil upon some of the Arab tribes; upon Ril; Dhakwan; Usaiya and Bani Libyan. We used to read a verse of the Quran revealed in their connection; but later the verse was cancelled. It was: convey to our people on our behalf the information that we have met our Lord; and He is pleased with us; and has made us pleased. Anas Bin Malik added: Allah Prophet said Qunut for one month in the morning prayer; invoking evil upon some of the Arab tribes namely ; Ril; Dhakwan; Usaiya; and Bani Libyan. SahihMuslim-017-001-17449Jabir reported: Allah Messenger may peace he upon him sent us on an expedition and appointed Abu Ubaida our chief that we might intercept a caravan of the Quraish and provided us with a bag of dates. And he found for us nothing besides it. Abu Ubaida gave each of us one date everyday. I Abu Zubair; one of the narrators said: What did you do with that? He said: We sucked that just as a baby sucks and then drank water over that; and it sufficed us for the day until night. We beat off leaves with the help of our staffs; then drenched them with water and ate them. We then went to the coast of the sea; and there rose before us on the coast of the sea something like a big mound. We came near that and we found that it was a beast; called AlAnbar spermaceti whale. Abu Ubaida said. It is dead. He then said: No but it does not matter ; we have been sent by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the path of Allah and you are hard pressed on account of the scarcity of food ; so you eat that. We three hundred in number stayed there for a month; until we grew bulky. He Jabir said: I saw how we extracted pitcher after pitcher full of fat from the cavity of its eye; and sliced from it compact piece of meat equal to a bull or like a bull. Abu Ubaida called forth thirteen men from us and he made them sit in the cavity of its eye; and he took hold of one of the ribs of its chest and made it stand and then saddled the biggest of the camels we had with us and it passed under it the arched rib ; and we provided ourselves with pieces of boiled meat especially for use in our journey. When we came back to Medina; we went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and made a mention of that to him; whereupon he said: That was a provision which Allah had brought forth for you. Is there any piece of meat left with you; so tnat you give to us that? He Jabir said: We sent to Allah Messenger ﷺ tome of that a piece of meat and he ate it.The Chapter on Lost And Found And Dates in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 4 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-17524Abu Mousa AlAshari reported: I came to Allah Apostle ﷺ along with a group of Asharites requesting to give us a mount. He the Holy Prophet said: By Allah; I cannot provide you with a mount; and there is nothing with me which I should give you as a ride. He the narrator said: We stayed there as long as Allah willed. Then there were brought to him to the Holy Prophet camels. He the Holy Prophet then ordered to give us three white humped camels; We started and said or some of us said to the others : Allah will not bless us. We came to Allah Messenger ﷺ begging him to provide us with riding camels. He swore that he could not provide us with a mount; but later on he provided us with that. They some of the Prophet Companions came and informed him about this rankling of theirs ; whereupon he said: It was not I who provided you with a mount; but Allah has provided you with that. SahihMuslim-017-001-17525Abu Mousa reported: My friends sent me to Allah Messenger ﷺ asking him to provide them with mounts as they were going along with him in jaish AlUsrah the army of destitutes or of meagre means or army setting out during the hard times and that is the occasion of the expedition of Tabuk I said: Apostle of Allah; my friends have sent me to you so that you may provide them with mounts. He the Holy Prophet said: By Allah; I cannot provide you with anything to ride. And it so happened that he was at that time much perturbed. I little knew of it; so I came back with a heavy heart on account of the refusal of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and the fear that Allah Messenger ﷺ might have some feelings against me. I returned to my friends and informed them about what Allah Messenger ﷺ had said. I had hardly stayed for a little that I heard Bilal calling: Abdullah Bin Qais. I responded to his call. He said: Hasten to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; he is calling you; When I came to the Prophet ﷺ he said: Take this pair; this pair; and this pair i. e. six camels which he had bought from Sad ; and take them to y; our friends and say: Verily Allah or he said: Verily Allah Messenger ﷺ has provided you with these animals. So ride upon them. Abu Mousa said: I went along with them to my friends and said: Verily Allah messenger ﷺ has provided you with these animals for riding; but by Allah; I shall not leave you until some of you go along with me to him who had heard the talk of Allah Messenger ﷺ then I asked him for you; and his refusal for the first time; and then his granting them to me subsequently; so you should not think that I narrated to you something which he did not say. They said to me: By Allah; in our opinion you are certainly truthful; and we would do as you like. So Abu Mousa went along withsome of the menfrom them until they came to those who had heard the words of Allah Messenger may; ﷺ and his refusal to provide them with animals ; and subsequently his granting the animals to them; and they narrated to them exactly as Abu Masa had narrated to them. The Chapter on Military Expedition And Almadinah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim

His complexion was red having the resemblance of a slave. He said to him: Come and join me in food. He showed reluctance. He Abu Masa said: Come on; for I saw Allah Messenger ﷺ eating it fowl meat ; whereupon that person said: I saw it eating something of filth and rubbish and I found it repugnant and took an oath that I would never eat that. He Abu Muds said: Come; so that I would narrate to you about that the incident pertaining to vow. And he narrated thus : I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ along with a group of people belonging to the tribe of Ashari; asking him to provide us with riding camels. He the Holy Prophet said: By Allah; I cannot provide you with riding animals. And there is nothing with me with which I can provide you a mount. We stayed for some time there as Allah willed; and there was brought to Allah Messenger ﷺ booty of camels. He called us and commanded that we should be given five white humped camels. As we were about to go back; some of us said to the other: As we made Allah Messenger ﷺ forget oath; there would be no blessing for us in his gift. We went back to him and said: Allah Messenger; we came to you to provide us with riding animals and you took an oath that you would never equip us with mounts and then you have provided us with the riding beasts Allah Messenger; have you forgotten? Thereupon he said: I swear by Allah that if Allah so wills; I shall not swear an oath; and then consider something else to be better than it without making atonement for my oath and doing the thing that is better. They appeared as the Messenger of Allah s.a.w had described them. We said: Do you have any children?
