O Prophet! When ye do divorce women, divorce them at their prescribed periods, and count (accurately), their prescribed periods: And fear Allah your Lord: and turn them not out of their houses, nor shall they (themselves) leave, except in case they are guilty of some open lewdness, those are limits set by Allah: and any who transgresses the limits of Allah, does verily wrong his (own) soul: thou knowest not if perchance Allah will bring about thereafter some new situation.
Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.
The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication, - flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.

There is not a good deed which ye do, but Allah is well-acquainted therewith.
Such of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the prescribed period, if ye have any doubts, is three months, and for those who have no courses (it is the same): for those who carry (life within their wombs), their period is until they deliver their burdens: and for those who fear Allah, He will make their path easy.
The worshippers of false gods say: "If Allah had so willed, we should not have worshipped aught but Him - neither we nor our fathers, - nor should we have prescribed prohibitions other than His." So did those who went before them. But what is the mission of messengers but to preach the Clear Message?
Surat AlMaidah Ayah 48Surat AlMaidah0.096112وَأَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنْكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَكِنْ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِي مَا آتَاكُمْ فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَTo thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute;
Never should a believer kill a believer; but (If it so happens) by mistake, (Compensation is due): If one (so) kills a believer, it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation to the deceased's family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (Is enough). If he belonged to a people with whom ye have treaty of Mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, (is prescribed) a fast for two months running: by way of repentance to Allah: for Allah hath all knowledge and all wisdom.
O ye who believe! the law of equality is prescribed to you in cases of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, the woman for the woman. But if any remission is made by the brother of the slain, then grant any reasonable demand, and compensate him with handsome gratitude, this is a concession and a Mercy from your Lord. After this whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave penalty.

So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.
Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess: Thus hath Allah ordained (Prohibitions) against you: Except for these, all others are lawful, provided ye seek (them in marriage) with gifts from your property, - desiring chastity, not lust, seeing that ye derive benefit from them, give them their dowers (at least) as prescribed; but if, after a dower is prescribed, agree Mutually (to vary it), there is no blame on you, and Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.
(Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will, - it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew.
There is no blame on you if ye make an offer of betrothal or hold it in your hearts. Allah knows that ye cherish them in your hearts: But do not make a secret contract with them except in terms Honourable, nor resolve on the tie of marriage till the term prescribed is fulfilled. And know that Allah Knoweth what is in your hearts, and take heed of Him; and know that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing.
Then, in their wake, We followed them up with (others of) Our messengers: We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy. But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them: (We commanded) only the seeking for the Good Pleasure of Allah; but that they did not foster as they should have done. Yet We bestowed, on those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are rebellious transgressors.

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6817Narrated Ibn Abbas: The law of Qisas i.e. equality in punishment was prescribed for the children of Israel; but the Diya i.e. blood money was not ordained for them. So Allah said to this Nation i.e. Muslims : O you who believe! The law of AlQisas i.e. equality in punishment is prescribed for you in cases of murder: The free for the free; the slave for the slave; and the female for the female. But if the relatives or one of them of the killed person forgive their brother i.e. the killers something of Qisas i.e. not to kill the killer by accepting blood money in the case of intentional murder --then the relatives of the killed person should demand blood-money in a reasonable manner and the killer must pay with handsome gratitude. This is an allevitation and a Mercy from your Lord; in comparison to what was prescribed for the nations before you. So after this; whoever transgresses the limits i.e. to kill the killer after taking the blood-money shall have a painful torment. 2.178The Chapter on Crimes And Felonies Of Killing in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prophetic Commentary on the Quran Tafseer of the Prophet in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7221Narrated Abu Salama: A man came to Ibn Abbas while Abu Huraira was sitting with him and said; Give me your verdict regarding a lady who delivered a baby forty days after the death of her husband. Ibn Abbas said; This indicates the end of one of the two prescribed periods. I said For those who are pregnant; their prescribed period is until they deliver their burdens. Abu Huraira said; I agree with my cousin Abu Salama. Then Ibn Abbas sent his slave; Kuraib to Umm Salamah to ask her regarding this matter. She replied. The husband of Subaia AlAslamiya was killed while she was pregnant; and she delivered a baby forty days after his death. Then her hand was asked in marriage and Allah Messenger ﷺ married her to somebody. Abu AlSanabil was one of those who asked for her hand in marriage. The Chapter on Marriage And Pregnancy in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prophetic Commentary on the Quran Tafseer of the Prophet in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihMuslim-017-001-17363Aisha reported that the Quraish had been anxious about the Makhzumi woman who had committed theft; and said: Who will speak to Allah Messenger ﷺ about her? They said: Who dare it; but Usama; the loved one of Allah Messenger ﷺ ? So Usama spoke to him. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Do you intercede regarding one of the punishments prescribed by Allah? He then stood up and addressed people saying: O people; those who have gone before you were destroyed; because if any one of high rank committed theft amongst them; they spared him; and it anyone of low rank committed theft; they inflicted the prescribed punishment upon him. By Allah; if Fatima; daughter of Muhammad; were to steal; I would have her hand cut off. In the hadith transmitted on the authority of Ibn Rumh the words are : Verily those before you perished. The Chapter on Fornication And Adultery Punishment And Forgiveness in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 2 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-17364Aisha; the wife of Allah Apostle ﷺ ; reported that the Quraish were concerned about the woman who had committed theft during the lifetime of Allah Apostle ﷺ ; in the expedition of Victory of Mecca. They said: Who would speak to Allah Messenger ﷺ about her? They again said: Who can dare do this but Usama Bin Zaid; the loved one of Allah Messenger ﷺ ? She was brought to Allah Messenger ﷺ and Usama Bin Zaid spoke about her to him interceded on her behalf. The color of the face of Allah Messenger ﷺ changed; and he said: Do you intercede in one of the prescribed punishments of Allah? He Usama said: Messenger of Allah; seek forgiveness for me. When it was dusk. Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up and gave an address. He first glorified Allah as He deserves; and then said: Now to our topic. This injustice destroyed those before you that when any one of high rank committed theft among them; they spared him; and when any weak one among them committed theft; they inflicted the prescribed punishment upon him. By Him in Whose Hand is my life; even if Fatima daughter of Muhammad were to commit theft; I would have cut off her hand. He the Holy Prophet then commanded about that woman who had committed theft; and her hand was cut off. Aisha further said: Hers was a good repentance; and she later on married and used to come to me after that; and I conveyed her needs and problems to Allah Messenger ﷺ.The Chapter on Fornication And Adultery Punishment And Forgiveness in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 2 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-17393AlBara Bin Azib reported: There happened to pass by Allah Apostle ﷺ a Jew blackened and lashed. Allah Apostle ﷺ called them the Jews and said: Is this the punishment that you find in your Book Torah as a prescribed punishment for adultery? They said: Yes. He the Holy Prophet called one of the scholars amongst them and said: I ask you in the name of Allah Who sent down the Torah on Moses if that is the prescribed punishment for adultery that you find in your Book. He said: No. Had you not asked me in the name of Allah; I would not have given you this information. We find stoning to death as punishment prescribed in the Torah. But this crime became quite common amongst our aristocratic class. So when we caught hold of any rich person indulging in this offence we spared him; but when we caught hold of a helpless person we imposed the prescribed punishment upon him. We then said: Let us argree on a punishment which we can inflict both upon the rich and the poor. So We decided to blacken the face with coal and flog as a substitute punishment for stoning. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: O Allah; I am the first to revive Thy command when they had made it dead. He then commanded and he the offender was stoned to death. Allah; the Majestic and Glorious; sent down this verse : O Messenger; the behaviour of those who vie with one another in denying the truth should not grieve you... up to is vouchsafed unto you; accept it v. 41 2176 It was said by the Jews : Go to Muhammad; it he commands you to blacken the face and award flogging as punishment for adultery ; then accept it; but it he gives verdict for stoning; then avoid it. It was then that Allah; the Majestic and Great; sent down these verses : And they who do not judge in accordance with what Allah has revealed are; indeed; deniers of the truth v. 44 ; And they who do not judge in accordance with what Allah has revealed-they; they indeed are the wrongdoers v. 45 ; And they who do not judge in accordance with what God has revealed-they are the iniquitous v. 47. Thereupon he said: What prevents you from doing it? He said: I saw the son of so and so showing disapproval of it; and you are dearer to us as compared with him. And we see that he is allured by the world; whereupon he said: Who amongst you and us is not allured by the world? And said further : We saw that Allah Messenger ﷺ put on Ihram for Hajj and circumambulated the House and run between AlSafa and AlMarwa. So Usamah spoke to him; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said : Are you interceding regarding one of the punishments prescribed by Allah ? He then got up and gave an address; saying : What destroyed your predecessors was just that when a person of rank among them committed a theft; They left him alone ; and when a weak one of them committed a theft; they inflicted the prescribed punishment on him. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26644Narrated AlBara Ibn Azib: The people passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a Jew who was blackened with charcoal and who was being flogged. He called them and said: Is this the prescribed punishment for a fornicator? They said: Yes. He then called on a learned man among them and asked him: I adjure you by Allah Who revealed the Torah to Moses; do you find this prescribed punishment for a fornicator in your divine Book? He said: By Allah; no. If you had not adjured me about this; I should not have informed you. We find stoning to be prescribed punishment for a fornicator in our Divine Book. But it fornication became frequent in our people of rank; so when we seized a person of rank; we left him alone; and when we seized a weak person; we inflicted the prescribed punishment on him. So we said: Come; let us agree on something which may be enforced equally on people of higher and lower rank. So we agreed to blacken the face of a criminal with charcoal; and flog him; and we abandoned stoning. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: O Allah; I am the first to give life to Thy command which they have killed. So he commanded regarding him the Jew and he was stoned to death. Allah Most High then sent down: O Apostle; let not those who race one another into unbelief; make thee grieve... up to They say: If you are given this; take it; but if not; beware!.... up to And if any do fail to judge by the light of what Allah hath revealed; they are no better than unbelievers; about Jews; up to And if any do fail to judge by the right of what Allah hath revealed; they are no better than wrong-doers about Jews: and revealed the verses up to And if any do fail to judge by the light of what Allah hath revealed; they are no better than those who rebel. Stoning was a prescribed punishment for them in accordance with the Torah; but they abandoned it and followed tajbiyah; meaning; the man was beaten a hundred times with a rope painted with tar and was seated on a donkey with his face towards the tail of the donkey. Their rabbis then assembled and sent some people to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They said to them: Ask him about the prescribed punishment for fornication. The transmitter then mentioned the rest of the tradition. They version adds: They were not the followers of his religion; and he the prophet was to pronounce judgment between them. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26685Narrated Abdulrahman Ibn Azhar: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the morning of the conquest of Mecca when I was a young boy. He was walking among the people; seeking the camp of Khalid Ibn AlWalid. A man who had drunk wine was brought before him and he ordered them to beat him. So they beat him with what they had in their hands. Some struck him with whips; some with sticks and some with sandals. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw some dust on his face. When a man who had drunk wine was brought before Abu Bakr; he asked them i.e. the people about the number of beatings which they gave him. They numbered it forty. So Abu Bakr gave him forty lashes. When Umar came to power; Khalid Ibn AlWalid wrote to him: The people have become addicted to drinking wine and they look down upon the prescribed punishment and its penalty. He said: They are with you; ask them. The immigrants who embraced Islam in the beginning were with him. He asked them and they agreed on the fact that a drunkard should be given eighty lashes. Ali said: When a man drinks wine; he tells lies. I; therefore; think that he should be prescribed punishment that is prescribed for telling lies..Abu Dawud said: Uqail Bin Khalid included in the chain of this tradition: Abdullah Bin Abdulrahman Bin AlAzhar from his father between AlZuhri and Ibn AlAzhar. The Chapter on Thirst in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on One who drinks khamr repeatedly in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27484Narrated Muadh Ibn Jabal: Prayer passed through three stages and fasting also passed through three stages. The narrator Nasr reported the rest of the tradition completely. The narrator; Ibn AlMuthanna; narrated the story of saying prayer facing in the direction of Jerusalem. He said: The third stage is that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Medina and prayed; i.e. facing Jerusalem; for thirteen months. Then Allah; the Exalted; revealed the verse: We have seen thee turning thy face to Heaven for guidance; O Muhammad. And now verily We shall make thee turn in prayer toward a qiblah which is dear to thee. So turn thy face toward the Inviolable Place of Worship; and ye O Muslims ; wherever ye may be; turn your face when ye pray toward it ii.144. And Allah; the Reverend and the Majestic; turned them towards the Kabah. He the narrator completed his tradition. The narrator; Nasr; mentioned the name of the person who had the dream; saying: And Abdullah Ibn Zayd; a man from the Ansar; came. The same version reads: And he turned his face towards the qiblah and said: Allah is most great; Allah is most great; I testify that there is no god but Allah; I testify that there is no god but Allah; I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; come to prayer he pronounced it twice ; come to salvation he pronounced it twice ; Allah is Most Great; Allah is most great. He then paused for a while; and then got up and pronounced in a similar way; except that after the phrase Come to salvation he added. The time for prayer has come; the time for prayer has come. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Teach it to Bilal; then pronounce the adhan call to prayer with the same words. As regards fasting; he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast for three days every month; and would fast on the tenth of Muharram. Then Allah; the Exalted; revealed the verse:.......Fasting was prescribed for those before you; that ye may ward off evil......and for those who can afford it there is a ransom: the feeding of a man in need ii.183-84. If someone wished to keep the fast; he would keep the fast; if someone wished to abandon the fast; he would feed an indigent every day; it would do for him. But this was changed. Allah; the Exalted; revealed: The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran.......... let him fast the same number of other days ii.185. Hence the fast was prescribed for the one who was present in the month of Ramadan and the traveller was required to atone for them ; feeding the indigent was prescribed for the old man and woman who were unable to fast. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28915Narrated Qabisah Ibn Dhuwayb: A grandmother came to Abu Bakr asking him for her share of inheritance. He said: There is nothing prescribed for you in Allah Book; nor do I know anything for you in the Sunnah of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ Go home till I question the people. He then questioned the people; and AlMughirah Ibn Shubah said: I had been present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he gave grandmother a sixth. Abu Bakr said: Is there anyone with you? Muhammad Ibn Maslamah stood and said the same as AlMughirah Ibn Shubah had said. So Abu Bakr made it apply to her. Another grandmother came to Umar Ibn AlKhattab asking him for her share of inheritance. He said: Nothing has been prescribed for you in Allah Book. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29360Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: Ibn Abbas explained the following Quranic verse: O ye who believe! fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you During the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ ; when the people offered night prayer; they were asked to abstain from food and drink and intercourse with women; they kept fast till the next night. A man betrayed himself and had intercourse with his wife after he had offered the night prayer; and he did not break his fast.
