SahihAlBukhari-017-001-024Narrated Kuraib: I was sent to Aisha by Ibn Abbas; AlMiswar Bin Makhrama and Abdulrahman Bin Azhar. They told me to greet her on their behalf and to ask her about the offering of the two rakat after the Asr prayer and to say to her; We were informed that you offer those two rakat and we were told that the Prophet had forbidden offering them. Ibn Abbas said; I along with Umar Bin AlKhattab used to beat the people whenever they offered them. I went to Aisha and told her that message. Aisha said; Go and ask Umm Salamah about them. So I returned and informed them about her statement. They then told me to go to Umm Salamah with the same question with which t sent me to Aisha. Umm Salamah replied; I heard the Prophet ﷺ forbidding them. Later I saw him offering them immediately after he prayed the Asr prayer. He then entered my house at a time when some of the Ansari women from the tribe of Bani Haram were sitting with me; so I sent my slave girl to him having said to her; Stand beside him and tell him that Umm Salamah says to you; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have heard you forbidding the offering of these two rakat after the Asr prayer but I have seen you offering them. If he waves his hand then wait for him. The slave girl did that. The Prophet ﷺ beckoned her with his hand and she waited for him. When he had finished the prayer he said; O daughter of Bani Umaiya! You have asked me about the two rakat after the Asr prayer. The people of the tribe of Abd AlQais came to me and made me busy and I could not offer the two rakat after the Zuhr prayer. The Prophet ﷺ then asked us; Which month is this? We said; Allah and His Apostle know it better. He kept quiet so long that we thought he might call it by another name. Then he said; Isnt it Dhu AlHijja? We said; Yes. He asked What town is this? We said; Allah and His Apostle know it better. Then he kept quiet so long that we thought he might call it by another name. He then said; Isnt it the forbidden town Mecca ? We said; Yes. He asked; What is the day today? SahihMuslim-017-001-17388Abu Huraira and Zaid b Khalid AlJuhani reported that one of the desert tribes came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah; I beg of you in the name of Allah that you pronounce judgment about me according to the Book of Allah. The second claimant who was wiser than him said: Well; decide amongst us according to the Book of Allah; but permit me to say something. Thereupon Allah Messenger may peace be upon ham said: Say. He said: My son was a servant in the house of this person and he committed adultery with his wife. I was informed that my son deserved stoning to death as punishment for this offence. I gave one hundred goats and a slave girl as ransom for this. I asked the scholars if this could serve as an expiation for this offence. They informed me that my son deserved one hundred lathes and exile for one year. and this woman deserved stoning as she was married. Thereupon Allah Messenger may peace he upon him said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life. I will decide between you according to the Book of Allah. The slave-girl and the goats should be given back; and your son is to be punished with one hundred lashes and exile for one year. And; O Unais Bin Zuhaq AlAslami ; go to this woman in the morning; and if she makes a confession; then stone her. He the narrator said: He went to her in the morning and she made a confession. It was rare that some food was presented to the Prophet ﷺ and it was not mentioned or named. While Allah Messenger ﷺ was about to stretch forth his hand towards the lizard; a woman from amongst the women present there informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what they had presented to him. They said: Messenger of Allah; it is a lizard. Allah Messenger ﷺ withdrew his hand; whereupon Khalid Bin Walid said: Messenger of Allah; is a lizard forbidden? There opon he said: No; but it is not found in the land of my people; and I feel that I have no liking for it. Khalid said: I then chewed and ate it; and Allah Messenger ﷺ was looking at me and he did not forbid me to eat it.The Chapter on Farming And Irrigation Lizards in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 7 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-17730It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Juraij that the Quranic injunction: 0 you who believe; obey Allah; His Apostle and those in authority from amongst You iv. 59 -was revealed in respect of Abdullah Bin Hudhafa Bin Qais Bin Adi AlSahmi who was despatched by the Prophet ﷺ as leader of a military campaign. SahihMuslim-017-001-18043It is narrated on the authority of Urwa Bin AlZubair who narrated from Aisha that she informed him that Fatima; daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; sent someone to Abu Bakr to demand from him her share of the legacy left by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from what Allah had bestowed upon him at Medina and Fadak and what was left from one-filth of the income annually received from Khaibar. Abu Bakr said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: We prophets do not have any heirs; what we leave behind is to be given in charity. The household of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will live on the income from these properties; but; by Allah; I will not change the charity of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the condition in which it was in his own time. I will do the same with it as the Messenger of Allah may peace be upun him himself used to do. So Abu Bakr refused to hand over anything from it to Fatima who got angry with Abu Bakr for this reason. She forsook him and did not talk to him until the end of her life. She lived for six months after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When she died; her husband. Ali Bin Abu Talib; buried her at night. He did not inform Abu Bakr about her death and offered the funeral prayer over her himself. During the lifetime of Fatima; All received special regard from the people. After she had died; he felt estrangement in the faces of the people towards him. So he sought to make peace with Abu Bakr and offer his allegiance to him. He had not yet owed allegiance to him as Caliph during these months. He sent a person to Abu Bakr requesting him to visit him unaccompanied by anyone disapproving the presence of Umar. Umar said to Abu Bakr: BY Allah; you will not visit them alone. Abu Bakr said: What will they do to me? By Allah; I will visit them. And he did pay them a visit alone. All recited Tashahhud as it is done in the beginning of a religious sermon ; then said: We recognise your moral excellence and what Allah has bestowed upon you. We do not envy the favour i. e. the Catiphate which Allah nas conferred upon you; but you have done it assumed the position of Caliph alone without consulting us ; and we thought we had a right to be consulted on account of our kinship with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He continued to talk to Abu Bakr in this vein until the latter eyes welled up with tears. Then Abd Bakr spoke and said: By Allah; in Whose Hand is my life; the kinship of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is dearer to me than the kinship of my own people. As regards the dispute that has arisen between you and me about these properties; I have not deviated from the right course and I have not given up doing about them what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do. So Ali said to Abu Bakr: This aftetnoon is fixed for swearing allegiance to you. So when Abu Bakr had finished his Zuhr prayer; he ascended the pulpit and recited Tashahhud; and described the status of Ali; his delay in swearing allegiance and the excuse which lie had offered to him for this delay. After this he asked for God forgiveness. Then Ali Bin Abu Talib recited the Tashahhud. extolled the merits of Abu Bakr and said that his action was nott prompted by any jealousy of Abu Bakr on his part or his refusal to accept the high position which Allah had conferred upon him; adding: But we were of the opinion that we should have a share in the government; but the matter had been decided without taking us into confidence; and this displeased us. Hence the delay in offering allegiance. The Muslims were pleased with this explanation and they said: You have done the right thing. The Muslims were again favourably inclined to Ali since he adopted the proper course of action. The Chapter on Oaths And Pledges And Charity in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 16 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18383It is narrated on the authority of Yahya Bin Yamur that the first man who discussed qadr Divine Decree in Basra was Mabad AlJuhani. I along with Humaid Bin Abdulrahman Himyari set out for pilgrimage or for Umrah and said: Should it so happen that we come into contact with one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ we shall ask him about what is talked about taqdir Divine Decree. Accidentally we came across Abdullah Ibn Umar Ibn AlKhattab; while he was entering the Masjid. My companion and I surrounded him. One of us stood on his right and the other stood on his left. I expected that my companion would authorize me to speak. I therefore said: Abu Abdulrahman There have appeared some people in our land who recite the Quran and pursue knowledge. And then after talking about their affairs; added: They such people claim that there is no such thing as Divine Decree and events are not predestined. He Abdullah Ibn Umar said: When you happen to meet such people tell them that I have nothing to do with them and they have nothing to do with me. And verily they are in no way responsible for my belief. Abdullah Ibn Umar swore by Him the Lord and said : If any one of them who does not believe in the Divine Decree had with him gold equal to the bulk of the mountain Uhud and spent it in the way of Allah ; Allah would not accept it unless he affirmed his faith in Divine Decree. He further said: My father; Umar Ibn AlKhattab; told me: One day we were sitting in the company of Allah Apostle ﷺ when there appeared before us a man dressed in pure white clothes; his hair extraordinarily black. There were no signs of travel on him. None amongst us recognized him. At last he sat with the Apostle ﷺ He knelt before him placed his palms on his thighs and said: Muhammad; inform me about AlIslam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: AlIslam implies that you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; and you establish prayer; pay Zakat; observe the fast of Ramadan; and perform pilgrimage to the House if you are solvent enough to bear the expense of the journey. He the inquirer said: You have told the truth. He Umar Ibn AlKhattab said: It amazed us that he would put the question and then he would himself verify the truth. He the inquirer said: Inform me about Iman faith. He the Holy Prophet replied: That you affirm your faith in Allah; in His angels; in His Books; in His Apostles; in the Day of Judgment; and you affirm your faith in the Divine Decree about good and evil. He the inquirer said: You have told the truth. He the inquirer again said: Inform me about AlIhsan performance of good deeds. He the Holy Prophet said: That you worship Allah as if you are seeing Him; for though you dont see Him; He; verily; sees you. He the enquirer again said: Inform me about the hour of the Doom. He the Holy Prophet remarked: One who is asked knows no more than the one who is inquiring about it. He the inquirer said: Tell me some of its indications. He the Holy Prophet said: That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and master; that you will find barefooted; destitute goat-herds vying with one another in the construction of magnificent buildings. He the narrator; Umar Ibn AlKhattab said: Then he the inquirer went on his way but I stayed with him the Holy Prophet for a long while. He then; said to me: Umar; do you know who this inquirer was? I replied: Allah and His Apostle knows best. He the Holy Prophet remarked: He was Gabriel the angel. He came to you in order to instruct you in matters of religion. The Chapter on Hour And Divine Decree in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 1 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18406Abu Jamra reported: I was an interpreter between Ibn Abbas and the people; that a woman happened to come there and asked about nabidh or the pitcher of wine. He replied: A delegation of the people of Abd AlQais came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He the Holy Prophet asked the delegation or the people of the delegation about their identity. They replied that they belonged to the tribe of Rabia. He the Holy Prophet welcomed the people or the delegation which were neither humiliated nor put to shame. They the members of the delegation said: Messenger of Allah; we come to you from a far-off distance and there lives between you and us a tribe of the unbelievers of Mudar and; therefore; it is not possible for us to come to you except in the sacred months. Thus direct us to a clear command; about which we should inform people beside us and by which we may enter heaven. He the Holy Prophet replied: I command you to do four deeds and forbid you to do four acts ; and added: I direct you to affirm belief in Allah alone; and then asked them: Do you know what belief in Allah really implies? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet said: It implies testimony to the fact that there is no god but Allah; and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; establishment of prayer; payment of Zakat; fast of Ramadan; that you pay one-fifth of the booty fallen to your lot and I forbid you to use gourd; wine jar; or a receptacle for wine. SahihMuslim-017-001-19035Abu AlSaeed Khudri reported Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying that the earth would turn to be one single bread on the Day of Resurrection and the Almighty would turn it in His hand as one of you turns a loaf while on a journey. It would be a feast arranged in the honour of the people of Paradise. He the narrator further narrated that a person from among the Jews came and he said: Abu AlQasim; may the Compassionate Lord be pleased with you! May I inform you about the feast arranged in honour of the people of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection? He said: Do it; of course. He said: The earth would become one single bread. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ looked towards us and laughed until his molar teeth became visible. He then again said: May I inform you about that with which they would season it? He said: Do it; of course. He went in and Abdullah Bin Masud lost no time in coming out to us and said: I was informed of your presence here but nothing hindered me to come out to you but the fact that I did not like to bore you by stuffing your minds with sermons as Allah Messenger ﷺ did not deliver us sermon on certain days fearing that it might prove to be boring for us.The Chapter on Facts And Praise To Allah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 19 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-19224Abdullah Bin Umar reported: Umar Bin AlKhattab went along with Allah Messenger ﷺ in the company of some persons to Ibn Sayad that he found him playing with children near the battlement of Bani Maghala and Ibn Sayad was at that time just at the threshold of adolescence and he did not perceive the presence of Holy Prophet until Allah Messenger ﷺ struck his back with his hands. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Ibn Sayad; dont you bear witness that I am the messenger of Allah? Ibn Sayad looked toward him and he said: I bear witness to the fact that you the messenger of the unlettered. Ibn Sayad said to the Allah Messenger ﷺ : Do you bear witness to the fact that I am the messenger of Allah? Allah Messenger ﷺ rejected this and said: I affirm my faith in Allah and in His messengers. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said to him: What do you see? Ibn Sayad said: It is a Dukh. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: May you be disgraced and dishonoured; you would not not be able to go beyond your rank. Umar Bin AlKhattab said: Allah Messenger; permit me that I should strike his neck. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: If he is the same Dajjal who would appear near the Last Hour; you would not be able to overpower him; and if he is not that there is no good for you to kill him. Abdullah Bin Umar further narrated that after some time Allah Messenger ﷺ and Ubay Bin Kaab went towards the palm trees where Ibn Sayad was. When Allah Messenger ﷺ went near the tree he hid himself behind a tree with the intention of hearing something from Ibn sayad before Ibn Sayad could see him; but Allah Messenger ﷺ saw him on a bed with a blanket around him from which a murmuring sound was being heard and Ibn Sayad mother saw Allah Messenger ﷺ behind the trunk of the palm tree. She said to Ibn Sayad: Saf that being his name ; here is Muhammad. Thereupon Ibn Sayad jumped up murmuring and Allah Messenger ﷺ said: If she had left him alone he would have made things clear. Abdullah Bin Umar told that Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up amongst the people and lauded Allah as He deserved; then he made a mention of the Dajjal and said: I warn you of him and there is no Prophet who has not warned his people against the Dajjal. Even Noah warned against him but I am going to tell you a thing which no Prophet told his people. You must know that he the Dajjal is one-eyed and Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; is not one-eyed. Ibn Shihab said: Umar Bin Thabit AlAnsari informed me that some of the Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ informed him that the day when Allah Messenger ﷺ warned people against the Dajjal; he also said: There would be written between his two eyes the word Kafir infidel and everyone who would resent his deeds would be able to read or every Muslim would be about to read; and he also said: Bear this thing in mind that none amongst you would be able to see Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; until he dies. The Chapter on Worship And Alhajj in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 19 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-19253Amir Bin Sharahil Shabi Shab Hamdan reported that he asked Fatima; daughter of Qais and sister of AlDahhak Bin Qais and she was the first amongst the emigrant women: Narrate to me a hadith which you had heard directly from Allah Messenger ﷺ and there is no extra link in between them. She said: Very well; if you like; I am prepared to do that; and he said to her: Well; do It and narrate that to me. She said: I married the son of Mughira and he was a chosen young man of Quraish at that time; but he fell as a martyr in the first Jihad fighting on the side of Allah Messenger ﷺ. When I became a widow; Abdulrahman Bin Auf; one amongst the group of the Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; sent me the proposal of marriage. Allah Messenger ﷺ also sent me such a message for his freed slave Usama Bin Zaid. And it had been conveyed to me that Allah Messenger ﷺ had said about Usama : He who loves me should also love Usama. When Allah Messenger ﷺ talked to me about this matter ; I said: My affairs are in your hand. You may marry me to anyone whom you like. He said: You better shift now to the house of Umm Sharik; and Umm Sharik was a rich lady from amongst the Ansar. She spent generously for the cause of Allah and entertained guests very hospitably. I said: Well; I will do as you like. He said: Do not do that for Umm Sharik is a woman who is very frequently visited by guests and I do not like that your head may be uncovered or the cloth may be removed from your shank and the strangers may catch sight of them which you abhor. You better shift to the house of your cousin Abdullah Bin Amr Bin Umm Maktum and he is a person of the Bani Fihr branch of the Quraish; and he belonged to that tribe to which Fatima belonged. So I shifted to that house; and when my period of waiting was over; I heard the voice of an announcer making an announcement that the prayer would be observed in the Masjid where congregational prayer is observed. So I set out towards that Masjid and observed prayer along with Allah Messenger ﷺ and I was in the row of the women which was near the row of men. When Allah Messenger ﷺ had finished his prayer; he sat on the pulpit smiling and said: Every worshipper should keep sitting at his place. He then said: Do you know why I had asked you to assemble? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: By Allah. I have not made you assemble for exhortation or for a warning; but I have detained you here; for Tamim Dari; a Christian; who came and accepted Islam; told me something; which agrees with what I was telling; you about the Dajjal. He narrated to me that he had sailed in a ship along with thirty men of Bani Lakhm and Bani Judham and had been tossed by waves in the ocean for a month. Then these waves took them near the land within the ocean island at the time of sunset. They sat in a small side-boat and entered that island. There was a beast with long thick hair and because of these they could not distinguish his face from his back. They said: Woe to you; who can you be? Thereupon it said: I am AlJassasa. They said: What is AlJassasa? And it said: O people; go to this person in the monastery as he is very much eager to know about you. He the narrator said: When it named a person for us we were afraid of it lest it should be a devil. Then we hurriedly went on till we came to that monastery and found a well-built person there with his hands tied to his neck and having iron shackles between his two legs up to the ankles. We said: Woe be upon thee; who are you? And he said: You would soon come to know about me. but tell me who are you. We said: We are people from Arabia and we embarked upon a boat but the sea-waves had been driving us for one month and they brought as near this island. We got Into the side-boats and entered this island and here a beast met us with profusely thick hair and because of the thickness of his hair his face could not be distinguished from his back. We said: Woe be to thee; who are you? It said: I am AlJassasa. We said: What is AlJassasa? And it said: You go to this very person in the monastery for he is eagerly waiting for you to know about you. So we came to you in hot haste fearing that that might be the Devil. He that chained person said: Tell me about the date-palm trees of Baisan. We said: About what aspect of theirs do you seek information? He said: I ask you whether these trees bear fruit or not. We said: yes. Thereupon he said: I think these would not bear fruits. He said: Inform me about the lake of Tabariya? We said: Which aspect of it do you want to know? He said: Is there water in it? They said: There is abundance of water in it. Thereupon he said: I think it would soon become dry. He again said: Inform me about the spring of Zughar. They said: Which aspect of it you want to know? He the chained person said: Is there water in it and does it irrigate the land ? We said to him: Yes; there is abundance of water in it and the inhabitants of Medina irrigate land with the help of it; He said: Inform me about the unlettered Prophet; what has he done? We said: He has come out from Mecca and has settled In Yathrib Medina. He said: Do the Arabs fight against him? We said: Yes. He said: How did he deal with them? We informed him that he had overcome those in his neighbourhood and they had submitted themselves before him. Thereupon he said to us: Has it actually happened? We said: Yes. Thereupon he said: If it is so that is better for them that they should show obedience to him. I am going to tell you about myself and I am Dajjal and would be soon permitted to get out and so I shall get out and travel in the land; and will not spare any town where I would not stay for forty nights except Mecca and Medina as these two places are prohibited areas for me and I would not make an attempt to enter any one of these two. An angel with a sword in his hand would confront me and would bar my way and there would be angels to guard every passage leading to it; then Allah Messenger ﷺ striking the pulpit with the help of the end of his staff said: This implies Taiba meaning Medina. Have I not; told you an account of the Dajjal like this? The people said: Yes; and this account narrated by Tamim Dari was liked by me for it corroborates the account which I gave to you in regard to him Dajjal at Medina and Mecca. Behold he Dajjal is in the Syrian sea Mediterranean or the Yemen sea Arabian sea. Nay; on the contrary; he is in the east; he is in the east; he is in the east; and he pointed with his hand towards the east. SahihMuslim-017-001-19577It is reported on the authority of Ali that Fatima had corns in her hand because of working at the hand-mill. There had fallen to the lot of Allah Apostle ﷺ some prisoners of war. She Fatima came to the Prophet ﷺ but she did not find him in the house. She met Aisha and informed her about her hardship. When Allah Apostle ﷺ came; she Aisha informed him about the visit of Fatima. Allah Messenger ﷺ came to them Fatima and her family. They had gone to their beds. Ali further reported : We tried to stand up as a mark of respect but Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Keep to your beds; and he sat amongst us and I felt the coldness of his feet upon my chest. He then said: May I not direct you to something better than what you have asked for? When you go to your bed; you should recite Takbir Allah-o-Akbar thirty-four times and Tasbih Subhan Allah thirty-three times and Tahmid AlHamdu li-Allah thirty-three times; and that is better than the servant for you.The Chapter on Facts And The Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 19 in Sahih Muslim

SahihMuslim-017-001-20132Musa Bin Talha reported: I and Allah Messenger ﷺ happened to pass by people near the date-palm trees. He the Holy Prophet said: What are these people doing? They said: They are grafting; i. e. they combine the male with the female tree and thus they yield more fruit. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: I do not find it to be of any use. The people were informed about it and they abandoned this practice. Allah Messenger ﷺ was later on informed that the yield had dwindled ; whereupon he said: If there is any use of it; then they should do it; for it was just a personal opinion of mine; and do not go after my personal opinion; but when I say to you anything on behalf of Allah; then do accept it; for I do not attribute lie to Allah; the Exalted and Glorious. The Chapter on Facts And Aldajjal in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 38 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20345Abdullah. Ibn Abbas reported: A person from the Ansar who was amongst the Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ reported to me: As we were sitting during the night with Allah Messenger ﷺ ; a meteor shot gave a dazzling light. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: What did you say in the pre-Islamic days when there was such a shot of meteor ? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best the actual position ; but we; however; used to say that that very night a great man had been born and a great man had died; whereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: These meteors are shot neither at the death of anyone nor on the birth of anyone. Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; issues Command when He decides to do a thing. Then the Angels supporting the Throne sing His glory; then sing the dwellers of heaven who are near to them until this glory of God reaches them who are in the heaven of this world. Then those who are near the supporters of the Throne ask these supporters of the Throne: What your Lord has said? And they accordingly inform them what He says. Then the dwellers of heaven seek information from them until this information reaches the heaven of the world. In this process of transmission the jinn snatches what he manages to overhear and he carries it to his friends. And when the Angels see the jinn they attack them with meteors. If they narrate only which they manage to snatch that is correct but they alloy it with lies and make additions to it.The Chapter on Good Manners And The Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 35 in Sahih Muslim

SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10176Salamah Bin Sakhr AlAnsari said: I was a man who had an issue with intercourse with a women that none other than me had. When the month of Ramadan entered; I pronounced Zihar upon my wife to last until the end of Ramadan; fearing that I might have an encounter with her during the night; and I would continue doing that until daylight came upon me; and I would not be able to stop. One night while she was serving me; something of her became exposed for me; so I rushed myself upon her. When the morning came I went to my people to inform them about what happened to me. I said: Accompany me to the Messenger of Allah to inform him about my case. They said: No by Allah! We shall not do that; we feat that something will be revealed about us in the Quran; or the Messenger of Allah might say something about us; the disgrace of which will remain upon us. But you do and do whatever you want. He said: So I left and I went to the Messenger of Allah; and informed him of my case. He said: You are the one who did that? I said: I am the one. He said: You are the one who did that? I said: I am the one. He said: You are the one who did that? I said: I am the one; it is before you; so give me Allahs judgment; for I shall be patient with that. He said: Free a slave. He said: I struck the sides of my neck with me hands; and said: No by the One Who sent you with the Truth! I possess nothing besides it. He said: Then fast for two months I said: O Messenger of Allah! Did this occur to me other than when I was fasting? He said: Then feed sixty poor people. I said: By the One Who sent you with the Truth! We have spent these nights of ours hungry without an evening meal. He said: Go to the one with the charity from Banu Ruzaiq; tell him to give it to you; then feed a Wasq of it; on your behalf; to sixty poor people. Then help yourself and your dependants with the remainder of it. He said: I returned to my people and said: I found dejection and bad ideas with you; and I found liberalness and blessing with the Messenger of Allah. So we all rushed toward some water and the Bedouins raced us to it. One of the Bedouins beat his companions to it and he tried to obstruct the pond; he placed rocks around it and he put a leather sheet over it until his companions came. He said: A man among the Ansar reached the Bedouin and he dropped the reigns of his camel to drink; but the Bedouin would not allow him. So he started removing the barriers around the water; but the Bedouin raised a stick beating the Ansari man on the head; and smashed it. He went to Abdullah Bin Ubay; the head of the hypocrite; to inform him he was in fact one of his companions. So Abdullah Bin Ubay became enraged; the he said: Do not spend anything on whoever is with Muhammad until they depart. Meaning the Bedouins. They were preparing food for the Messenger of Allah. So Abdullah said: When they depart from Muhammad; then bring Muhammad some food; and let him and whoever is with him eat it. Then he said to his companions: If we return to AlMadinah; indeed the more honorable will expel therefrom the meaner. Zaid said: And I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah; and I had heard Abdullah Bin Ubay; so I informed my uncle who went to tell the Messenger of Allah. He sent a message to him Abdullah but he took an oath and denied it. He said: So the Messenger of Allah accepted what he said and did not believe me. So my uncle came to me and said: You only wanted the Messenger of Allah to hate you; and the Muslims to say that you lied. He said: I suffered such worry as has not been suffered by anyone else. He said: Later while I was on the move with the Messenger of Allah on a journey; my mind was relieved of worry; since the Messenger of Allah came to me and rubbed my ear and smiled in my face. I would never be happier than with that as long as the world remained. Then Abu Bakr caught up to me; and said: What did the Messenger of Allah say to you? I said: He did not say anything to me; he only rubbed my ear and smiled in my face. He said: Receive the good news! Then Umar caught up with me and I said the same to him as I had said to Abu Bakr. I entered upon her and told her that for which they had sent me to her. She said: Ask Umm Salamah. I returned to them Ibn Abbas and others and informed them about her opinion. They sent me back to Umm Salamah with the same mission for which they had sent me to Aishah. Umm Salamah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibiting them; but later on I saw him praying them. When he prayed them; he had offered the Asr prayer. He then came to me while a number of women from Banu Haram from the Ansar were sitting with me. He prayed these two rakahs. People went to the tyrant and informed him saying A man has come down here; he has a most beautiful woman with him. So he sent for him Abraham and asked about her. He said she is my sister. When he returned to her; he said he asked me about you and I informed him that you were my sister. Today there is no believer except me and you. So I made my wife like my mother back to me till the end of Ramadan. But one night when she was waiting upon me; something of her was revealed. Suddenly I jumped upon her. When the morning came I went to my people and informed them about this matter. I said: Go along with me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They said: No; by Allah. So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him of the matter. He said: Have you really committed it; Salamah? I said: I committed it twice; Messenger of Allah. I am content with the Commandment of Allah; the Exalted; so take a decision about me according to what Allah has shown you. He said: Free a slave. I said: By Him Who sent you with truth; I do not possess a neck other than this: and I struck the surface of my neck. He said: Then fast two consecutive months. I said: Whatever I suffered is due to fasting. He said: Feed sixty poor people with a wasq of dates. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25829Sufyan said according to one chain ; and Abu AlSalit said according to another chain : A man wrote to Umar Bin Abd AlAziz asking him about Divine decree. He wrote to him: To begin with; I enjoin upon you to fear Allah; to be moderate in obeying His Command; to follow the sunnah practice of His Prophet ﷺ and to abandon the novelties which the innovators introduced after his Sunnah has been established and they were saved from its trouble i.e. novelty or innovation ; so stick to Sunnah; for it is for you; if Allah chooses; a protection ; then you should know that any innovation which the people introduced was refuted long before it on the basis of some authority or there was some lesson in it; for the Sunnah was introduced by the people who were conscious of the error; slip; foolishness; and extremism in case of the sunnah was opposed. So accept for yourself what the people in the past had accepted for themselves; for they had complete knowledge of whatever they were informed; and by penetrating insight they forbade to do prohibited acts ; they had more strength than us to disclose the matters of religion ; and they were far better than us by virtue of their merits. If right guidance is what you are following; then you outstriped them to it. And if you say whatever the novelty occurred after them was introduced by those who followed the way other then theirs and disliked them. It is they who actually outstripped; and talked about it sufficiently; and gave a satisfactory explanation for it. Below them there is no place for exhaustiveness; and above them there is no place for elaborating things. Some people shortened the matter more than they had done; and thus they turned away from them ; and some people raised the matter more than they had done; and thus they exaggerated. They were on right guidance between that. You have written to me asking about confession of Divine decree; you have indeed approached a person who is well informed of it; with the will of Allah. I know what whatever novelty people have brought in; and whatever innovation people have introduced are not more manifest and more established than confession of Divine decree. The ignorant people i.e. the Arabs before Islam in pre-Islamic times have mentioned it ; they talked about it in their speeches and in their poetry. They would console themselves for what they lost; and Islam then strengthened it i.e. belief in Divine decree. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not mention it in one or two traditions; but the Muslims heard it from him; and they talked of it from him; and they talked of it during his lifetime and after his death. They did so out of belief and submission to their Lord and thinking themselves weak. There is nothing which is not surrounded by His knowledge; and not counted by His register and not destined by His decree. Despite that; it has been strongly mentioned in His Book: from it they have derived it; and from it they have and so ? they also read in it what you read; and they knew its interpretation of which you are ignorant. After that they said: All this is by writing and decreeing. Distress has been written down; and what has been destined will occur ; what Allah wills will surely happen; and what He does not will will not happen. We have no power to harm or benefit ourselves. Then after that they showed interest in good works and were afraid of bad deeds. The Chapter on Angeles And Good Deeds And Bad Decrees in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Adherence To The Sunnah in Sunan Abu Dawoud

SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26646Narrated Abu Huraira: This is Mamar version which is more accurate. A man and a woman of the Jews committed fornication. Some of them said to the others: Let us go to this Prophet; for he has been sent with an easy law. If he gives a judgment lighter than stoning; we shall accept it; and argue about it with Allah; saying: It is a judgment of one of your prophets. So they came to the Prophet ﷺ who was sitting in the Masjid among his companions. They said: AbulQasim; what do you think about a man and a woman who committed fornication? He did not speak to them a word till he went to their school. He stood at the gate and said: I adjure you by Allah Who revealed the Torah to Moses; what punishment do you find in the Torah for a person who commits fornication; if he is married? They said: He shall be blackened with charcoal; taken round a donkey among the people; and flogged. A young man among them kept silent. When the Prophet ﷺ emphatically adjured him; he said: By Allah; since you have adjured us we inform you that we find stoning in the Torah is the punishment for fornication. The Prophet ﷺ said: So when did you lessen the severity of Allah command? He said: A relative of one of our kings had committed fornication; but his stoning was suspended. Then a man of a family of common people committed fornication. He was to have been stoned; but his people intervened and said: Our man shall not be stoned until you bring your man and stone him. So they made a compromise on this punishment between them. The Prophet ﷺ said: So I decide in accordance with what the Torah says. He then commanded regarding them and they were stoned to death. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27371Ibn Shihab said: Umar Bin Abd AlAziz was sitting on the pulpit and he somewhat postponed the afternoon prayer. Urwah Bin AlZubair said to him: Gabriel informed Muhammed ﷺ of the time of prayer. So Umar said to him: Be sure of what you are saying. Urwah then replied: I heard Bashir Bin Abu Masud say that he heard Abu Masud AlAnsari say that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Gabriel came down and informed me of the time of prayer; and I prayed along with him; then prayed along with him; then I prayed along with him; then I prayed along with him; then I prayed along with him; reckoning with his fingers five times of the prayer. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offering the Duhr prayer when the sun had passed the meridian. Sometimes he would delay it when it was sever heat ; and I witnessed that he prayer the Asr prayer when the sun was high and bright before the yellowness had overcome it; then a man could go off after the prayer and reach Dhu AlHulaifa before the sunset; and he would pray Maghrib when the sun had set ; and he would pray the Isha prayer when darkness prevailed over the horizon; sometime he would delay it until the people assembled; and once he prayer the fair prayer in the darkness of dawn and at another time he prayed it when it became fairly light; but later on he continued to pray in the darkness of dawn until his death; he never prayed it again in the light of the dawn.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted from AlZuhri by Mamar; Malik; Ibn Uyainah; Shuaib Bin Abi Hamzah; and AlLaith Bin Saad and others; but they did not mention the time in which he the Prophet had prayer; nor did they explain it. And similarly it has been narrated by Hisham Bin Urwah and Habib Bin Abu Mazruq from Urwah like the report of Mamar and his companions. But Habib did not make a mention of Bashir. And Wahb Bin Kaisan reported on the authority of Jabir from the Prophet ﷺ the time of the Maghrib prayer. He said: Next day he Gabriel came to him at the time of the Maghrib prayer when the sun had already set. He came both days at the same time.Abu Dawud said: Similarly; this tradition has been transmitted by Abu Huraira from the Prophet ﷺ. He said: Then he Gabriel led me in the sunset prayer next day at the same time.Similarly; this tradition has been narrated through a different chain by Abdullah Bin Amr Bin AlAs; through a chain from Hassan Bin Atiyah; from Amr Bin Shuaib; from his father; on the authority from the Prophet ﷺ.The Chapter on Prayers In Friday in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Times Of AlSalat in Sunan Abu Dawoud

SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27475Narrated Abu Umayr Ibn Anas: Abu Umayr reported on the authority of his uncle who was from the Ansar the helpers of the Prophet : The Prophet ﷺ was anxious as to how to gather the people for prayer. The people told him: Hoist a flag at the time of prayer; when they see it; they will inform one another. But he the Prophet did not like it. Then someone mentioned to him the horn. Ziyad said: A horn of the Jews. He the Prophet did not like it. He said: This is the matter of the Jews. Then they mentioned to him the bell of the Christians. He said: This is the matter of the Christians. Abdullah Ibn Zayd returned anxiously from there because of the anxiety of the Apostle ﷺ. He was then taught the call to prayer in his dream. Next day he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him about it. He said: Messenger of Allah; I was between sleep and wakefulness; all of a sudden a newcomer came to me and taught me the call to prayer. Umar Ibn AlKhattab had also seen it in his dream before; but he kept it hidden for twenty days. The Prophet ﷺ said to me Umar : What did prevent you from saying it to me? He said: Abdullah Ibn Zayd had already told you about it before me: hence I was ashamed. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Bilal; stand up; see what Abdullah Ibn Zayd tells you to do ; then do it. Bilal then called them to prayer. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27483Ibn Abi Laila said: Prayer passed through three stages. And out people narrated to us that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said; it is to my liking that the prayer of Muslims or believers should be united i.e.; in congregation ; so much so that I intended to send people to the houses to announce the time of prayer; and I also resolved that I should order people to stand at the tops of the forts and announce the time of the prayer for Muslims; and they struck the bell or were about to strike the bell to announce the time for prayer. Then came a person from among the Ansar who said: Messenger of Allah; when I returned from you; as I saw your anxiety. I saw in sleep a person with two green clothes on him; he stood on the Masjid and called people to prayer. He then sat down for a short while and stood up and pronounced in a like manner; except that he added: The time for prayer has come. If the people did not call me a liar ; and according to the version of Ibn AlMuthanna; if you did not call me a liar. I would say that I was awake; I was awake; I was not asleep. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: According to the version of Ibn AlMuthanna; Allah has shown you a good dream. But the version of Amr does not have the words: Allah has shown you a good dream. Then ask Bilal to pronounce the ADHAN to call to the prayer. Umar in the meantime said: I also had a dream like the one he had. But as he informed earlier. I was ashamed to inform. Our people have narrated to us: when a person came to the Masjid during the prayer in congregation ; he would ask about the RAKAHS of prayer ; and he would be informed about the number of RAKAHS already performed. They would stand in prayer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : some in standing position; others bowing; some sitting and some praying along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ Ibn AlMuthanna reported from Amr from Hussain Bin Abi Laila; saying ; Until Muadh came. Shubah said ; I heard it from Hussain who said : I shall follow the position in the prayer in which I find him the prophet... you should do in a similar way.Abu Dawud said: I then turned to the tradition reported by Amr Bin Marzuq he said; then Maadh came and they the people hinted at him. Shubah said; I heard it from hussain who said: Muadh then said; I shall follow the position in the prayer when I join it in which I find him the prophet. He then said: Muadh has prayer when I join it in which I find him the prophet. He then said: MUadh has introduced for you a SUNNAH a model behaviour ; so you should do in a like manner. He said; our people have narrated to us; when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Madina; he commanded them the people to keep fast for three days. Thereafter the Quranic verses with regard to the fasts during Ramadan were revealed. But they were people who were not accustomed to keep fast ; hence the keeping of the fasts was hard for them; so those who could not keep fast would feed an indigent; then the month. He brought it to us; but we refused to take it until you come. He asked: What did prevent you ? He said: I swear by Allah; I shall not take food tonight. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28581Imran Bin Hosain said: Adba belonged to a man of Banu Aqil. It used to go ahead of pligrims. The man was then captivated. He was brought in chains to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ was riding on a donkey with a blanket on him. He said: Muhammad; why do you arrest me and capture the one i.e. the camel which goes ahead of the pilgrims. He replied: We are arresting you on account of the crime committed by your allies Thaqid. Thaqif captivated two persons from among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. He said whatever he said I am a Muslim; or he said: I have embraced Islam. When the Prophet ﷺ went ahead; he called him: O Muhammed; O Muhammed. Abu Dawud said: I learnt it from the version of the narrator Muhammad Bin Isa. The Prophet ﷺ was compassionate and kind hearted. So he returned to him; and asked: What is the matter with you ? He replied: I am a Muslim. He said: Had you said it when the matter was in your hand; you would have succeeded completely. Abu Dawud said: I then returned to the version of the narrator Sulaiman Bin Harb. He said: Muhammad; I am hungry; so feed me. I am thirsty; so give me water. The Prophet ﷺ said: This is your need; or he said: This is his need the narrator is doubtful. Later on the man was taken back by Thaqif as a ransom for the two men of the Companions of the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ retained Adba for his journey. The narrator said: The polytheists raided the pasturing animals of Medina and they took away Adba. When they took away Adba; they also captivated a Muslim woman. They used to leave their camels in the fields for rest at night. One night they slept and the Muslim woman stood up. Any camel on which she put her hand brayed until she came to Adba. She came to a camel which was docile and experienced. She then rode on her and vowed to Allah that if He saved her; she would sacrifice it. When she came to Medina; the people recognized the camel of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ was then informed about it and he sent for her. She was brought to him and she informed him about her vow. He said: It is a bad return that you have given it. Allah has not saved you; on its back that you now sacrifice it. One day he came to us and he had dyed them red; and the people said to him; This is better. He said. Aisha the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; sent her slave girl Nukhayla to me yesterday. She swore that my hair would be dyed and she informed me that Abu Bakr AlSiddiq used to dye his hair. Yahya said that he heard Malik say about dyeing the hair black; I have not heard anything certain on that; and other colours than that are preferable to me. Yahya said; Not to dye at all is permitted; Allah willing; and there is no constraint on people concerning it. Yahya said that he had heard Malik say; There is no clear indication in this hadith that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; did not dye his hair.
