But, truly, the command is with Allah in all things! Do not the Believers know, that, had Allah (so) willed, He could have guided all mankind (to the right)? But the Unbelievers, - never will disaster cease to seize them for their (ill) deeds, or to settle close to their homes, until the promise of Allah come to pass, for, verily, Allah will not fail in His promise.

Little did ye think that they would get out: And they thought that their fortresses would defend them from Allah! But the (Wrath of) Allah came to them from quarters from which they little expected (it), and cast terror into their hearts, so that they destroyed their dwellings by their own hands and the hands of the Believers, take warning, then, O ye with eyes (to see)!

He said: "Is it not possible, if ye were commanded to fight, that that ye will not fight?" They said: "How could we refuse to fight in the cause of Allah, seeing that we were turned out of our homes and our families?" but when they were commanded to fight, they turned back, except a small band among them. But Allah Has full knowledge of those who do wrong.

Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life?- and on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty. For Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.

They said: "What affair is this of ours?" Say thou: "Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's." They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but (all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts.

It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1112		Narrated Abdullah Bin Umar: The Prophet ﷺ besieged the people of Taif; but he did not conquer it. He said; Tomorrow; if Allah will; we will return home. On this the Muslims said; Then we return without conquering it? He said; Then carry on fighting tomorrow. The next day many of them were injured. The Prophet ﷺ said; If Allah will; we will return home tomorrow. It seemed that statement pleased them whereupon Allah Apostle smiled. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1423		Narrated Zaid Bin Thabit: The Prophet ﷺ took a room made of date palm leaves mats in the Masjid. Allah Messenger ﷺ prayed in it for a few nights till the people gathered to pray the night prayer Tarawih behind him. Then on the 4th night the people did not hear his voice and they thought he had slept; so some of them started humming in order that he might come out. The Prophet ﷺ then said; You continued doing what I saw you doing till I was afraid that this Tarawih prayer might be enjoined on you; and if it were enjoined on you; you would not continue performing it. Therefore; O people! Perform your prayers at your homes; for the best prayer of a person is what is performed at his home except the compulsory congregational prayer. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2629		Narrated Zaid Bin Thabit: Allah Messenger ﷺ made a small room with a palm leaf mat. Allah Messenger ﷺ came out of his house and prayed in it. Some men came and joined him in his prayer. Then again the next night they came for the prayer; but Allah Messenger ﷺ delayed and did not come out to them. So they raised their voices and knocked the door with small stones to draw his attention. He came out to them in a state of anger; saying; You are still insisting on your deed; i.e. Tarawih prayer in the Masjid that I thought that this prayer Tarawih might become obligatory on you. So you people; offer this prayer at your homes; for the best prayer of a person is the one which he offers at home; except the compulsory congregational prayer. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3257		Narrated AlBara: There was revealed: Not equal are those believers who sit at home and those who strive and fight in the Cause of Allah. 4.95 The Prophet ﷺ said; Call Zaid for me and let him bring the board; the inkpot and the scapula bone or the scapula bone and the ink pot. Then he said; Write: Not equal are those Believers who sit..; and at that time Amr Bin Um Maktum; the blind man was sitting behind the Prophet ﷺ. He said; O Allah Apostle! What is your order For me as regards the above Verse as I am a blind man? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4768		Narrated Urwa from Aisha: The wives of Allah Messenger ﷺ were in two groups. One group consisted of Aisha; Hafsa; Safiya and Sauda; and the other group consisted of Umm Salamah and the other wives of Allah Messenger ﷺ. The Muslims knew that Allah Messenger ﷺ loved Aisha; so if any of them had a gift and wished to give to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; he would delay it; till Allah Messenger ﷺ had come to Aisha home and then he would send his gift to Allah Messenger ﷺ in her home. The group of Umm Salamah discussed the matter together and decided that Umm Salamah should request Allah Messenger ﷺ to tell the people to send their gifts to him in whatever wife house he was. Umm Salamah told Allah Messenger ﷺ of what they had said; but he did not reply. Then they those wives asked Umm Salamah about it. She said; He did not say anything to me. They asked her to talk to him again. She talked to him again when she met him on her day; but he gave no reply. When they asked her; she replied that he had given no reply. They said to her; Talk to him till he gives you a reply. When it was her turn; she talked to him again. He then said to her; Do not hurt me regarding Aisha; as the Divine Inspirations do not come to me on any of the beds except that of Aisha. On that Umm Salamah said; I repent to Allah for hurting you. Then the group of Umm Salamah called Fatima; the daughter of Allah Messenger ﷺ and sent her to Allah Messenger ﷺ to say to him; Your wives request to treat them and the daughter of Abu Bakr on equal terms. Then Fatima conveyed the message to him. The Prophet ﷺ said; O my daughter! Dont you love whom I love? She replied in the affirmative and returned and told them of the situation. They requested her to go to him again but she refused. They then sent Zainab bint Jahsh who went to him and used harsh words saying; Your wives request you to treat them and the daughter of Ibn Abu Quhafa on equal terms. On that she raised her voice and abused Aisha to her face so much so that Allah Messenger ﷺ looked at Aisha to see whether she would retort. Aisha started replying to Zainab till she silenced her. The Prophet ﷺ then looked at Aisha and said; She is really the daughter of Abu Bakr. Once while I was thinking over a certain matter; my wife said; I recommend that you do so-and-so. I said to her; What have you got to do with the is matter? Why do you poke your nose in a matter which I want to see fulfilled.? She said; How strange you are; O son of AlKhattab! You dont want to be argued with whereas your daughter; Hafsa surely; argues with Allah Messenger ﷺ so much that he remains angry for a full day! Umar then reported; how he at once put on his outer garment and went to Hafsa and said to her; O my daughter! Do you argue with Allah Messenger ﷺ so that he remains angry the whole day? H. afsa said; By Allah; we argue with him. Umar said; Know that I warn you of Allah punishment and the anger of Allah Messenger ﷺ... O my daughter! Dont be betrayed by the one who is proud of her beauty because of the love of Allah Messenger ﷺ for her i.e. Aisha. Umar addled; Then I went out to Umm Salamah house who was one of my relatives; and I talked to her. She said; O son of AlKhattab! It is rather astonishing that you interfere in everything; you even want to interfere between Allah Apostle and his wives! By Allah; by her talk she influenced me so much that I lost some of my anger. I left her and went home. At that time I had a friend from the Ansar who used to bring news from the Prophet in case of my absence; and I used to bring him the news if he was absent. In those days we were afraid of one of the kings of Ghassan tribe. We heard that he intended to move and attack us; so fear filled our hearts because of that. One day my Ansari friend unexpectedly knocked at my door; and said; Open Open! I said; Has the king of Ghassan come? He said; No; but something worse; Allah Messenger ﷺ has isolated himself from his wives. I said; Let the nose of Aisha and Hafsa be stuck to dust i.e. humiliated ! Then I put on my clothes and went to Allah Messenger ﷺ residence; and behold; he was staying in an upper room of his to which he ascended by a ladder; and a black slave of Allah Messenger ﷺ was sitting on the first step. I said to him; Say to the Prophet ﷺ Umar Bin AlKhattab is here. Then the Prophet ﷺ admitted me and I narrated the story to Allah Messenger ﷺ. When I reached the story of Umm Salamah ; Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled while he was lying on a mat made of palm tree leaves with nothing between him and the mat. Underneath his head there was a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibres; and leaves of a saut tree were piled at his feet; and above his head hung a few water skins. On seeing the marks of the mat imprinted on his side; I wept. He said. Why are you weeping? I replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Caesar and Khosrau are leading the life i.e. Luxurious life while you; Allah Messenger ﷺ though you are; is living in destitute. The Prophet ﷺ then replied. Wont you be satisfied that they enjoy this world and we the Hereafter? She said: I went to the Messenger of Allah and mentioned that to him; and he said: As for Muawiyah; he is a man with no wealth; and as for Abu Jahm he is a man who is harsh with women. She said: Then Usamah Bin Zaid proposed to me; and he married me. So Allah blessed me with Usamah. Her maternal aunt; Fatimah bint Qais; sent word to her telling her to move from the house of Abdullah Bin Amr. Marwan heard of that and he sent word to the daughter of Saeed; telling her to go back to her home; and asking her why she had moved from her home before her Iddah was over? She sent word to him telling him that her maternal aunt had told her to do that. Fatimah bint Qais said that she had been married to Abu Amr Bin Hafs; and when the Messenger of Allah appointed Ali Bin Abi Talib as governor of Yemen; he went out with him and sent word to her that she was divorced with the third Talaq. He told AlHarith Bin Hisham and Ayash Bin Abi Raiah to spend on her. She sent word to AlHarith and Ayash asking them what her husband had told them to spend on her; and they said: By Allah; she has no right to any maintenance from us; unless she is pregnant; and she cannot come into our home without our permission. She said that she came to the Messenger of Allah and told him about that; and he stated that they were correct. Fatimah said: Where should I move to; O Messenger of Allah? He said: Move to the home of Ibn Umm Maktum; the blind man whom Allah; the Mighty and Sublime; named in His Book. Fatimah said: So I observed my Iddah there. He was a man who has lost his sight; so I used to take off my garments in his house; until the Messenger of Allah married me to Usamah Bin Zaid. Marwan criticized her for that and said: I have never heard this Hadith from anyone before you. I will continue to follow the ruling that the people have been following. Then he stayed one month on the night when he used to go back home; and he addressed the people and enjoined upon them whatever Allah SWT willed. Then he said: I used to observe Itikaf during these ten days; then I decided to spend the last ten days in Itikaf. So whoever was observing Itikaf with me; let him stay in his place of Itikaf; for I was shown this night Lailatul Qadr ; then I was caused to forget it; so seek it during the last ten nights on the odd-numbered nights. And I saw myself prostrating in water and mud. Abu Saeed said: It rained on the night of the twenty-first; and the roof of the Masjid leaked over the place where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray. I looked at him when he had finished praying subh and his face was wet with water and mud. She was displeased with it. He said I swear by Allah; you have no claim on us. She then came to Apostle of Allah ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said to her No maintenance is due to you from him. He ordered her to spend the waiting period in the house of Umm Sharik but he said afterwards that is a woman whom my Companions visit. Spend the waiting period in the house of Ibn Umm Maktum for he is blind and you can undress. Then when you are in a position of being remarried; tell me. She said When I was in a position to remarry; I mentioned to him that Muawiyah Bin Abi Sufyan and Abu Jahm had asked me in marriage. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said As for Abu Jahm; he does not put down his stick from his shoulder; and as for Muawiyah he is a poor man who has no property; marry Usamah Bin Zaid. I disliked him but he said Marry Usamah Bin Zaid. So; I married him. And Allah prospered him very much and I was envied. She was the grandmother of their father. She reported to them; saying: We came upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. My companion; Hurayth Ibn Hassan; came to him as a delegate from Bakr Ibn Wail. He took the oath of allegiance of Islam for himself and for his people. He then said: Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; write a document for us; giving us the land lying between us and Banu Tamim at AlDahna to the effect that not one of them will cross it in our direction except a traveller or a passer-by. He said: Write down AlDahna for them; boy. When I saw that he passed orders to give it to him; I became anxious; for it was my native land and my home. I said: Messenger of Allah; he did not ask you for a true border when he asked you. This land of Dahna is a place where the camels have their home; and it is a pasture for the sheep. The women of Banu Tamim and their children are beyond it. He said: Stop; boy! A poor woman spoke the truth: a Muslim is a brother of a Muslim. Each one of them may benefit from water and trees; and they should cooperate with each other against Satan. He said Which of us does not seek the help in his need? He said Bring me out so that I may see. So he was brought out; and he concealed himself. Sufyan said While he was concealing himself. Sufyan said While he was concealing himself the house suddenly fell on him and he died. I came in upon him and there were whips and two iron fetters placed there; and two of his slaves whom he had made to sit there. He said; Divorce her; or by He by whom one swears; I will do such-and-such to you! I said; It is divorce a thousand times. Then I left him and I saw Abdullah Ibn Umar on the road to Makka and I told him about my situation. Abdullah Ibn Umar was furious; and said; That is not divorce; and she is not haram for you; so return to your home. I was still not at ease so I went to Abdullah Ibn AlZubair who was the Amir of Makka at that time. I told him about my situation and what Abdullah Ibn Umar had said to me. Abdullah Ibn AlZubair said to me; She is not haram for you; so return to your home; and he wrote to Jabir Ibn AlAswad AlZuhra who was the Amir of Madina and ordered him to punish Abdullah Ibn Abdar-Rahman and to have him leave me and my family alone. I went to Madina; and Safiya; the wife of Abdullah Ibn Umar fitted out my wife so that she could bring her to my house with the knowledge of Abdullah Ibn Umar. MuwataMalik-017-001-35897		Malik related to me from Nafi from Sulayman Ibn Yasar that Habbar Ibn AlAswad arrived on the day of sacrifice while Umar Ibn AlKhattab was sacrificing his animal and said; Amir Almuminin; we made a mistake in our reckoning and we thought that today was the day of Arafa. Umar said; Go to Makka; you and whoever else is with you; and do tawaf and sacrifice your animal if you have one with you. Then shave or cut your hair and return home. Then; in another year; do hajj and sacrifice an animal; and if you cannot find one; fast three days on hajj and seven when you return home. Malik said; Someone who intends to do hajj and umra together and then misses the hajj must do hajj again in another year; doing hajj with umra; and offer two sacrificial animals; one for doing the hajj with umra; and one for the hajj that he has missed.
