But if ye enter houses, salute each other - a greeting of blessing and purity as from Allah. Thus does Allah make clear the signs to you: that ye may understand.

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3231		Narrated Malik Bin Aus Bin AlHadathan: Once I set out to visit Umar bin AlKhattab. While I was sitting there with him his gate-keeper; Yarfa; came and said; Uthman Abdulrahman bin Auf ; AlZubair and Saad bin Abi Waqqas are seeking permission to meet you. Umar said; Yes. So he admitted them and they entered; greeted; and sat down. After a short while Yarfa came again and said to Umar Shall I admit Ali and Abbas? Umar said; Yes. He admitted them and when they entered; they greeted and sat down. Abbas said; O Chief of the Believers! Judge between me and this Ali. The group; Uthman and his companions Sad; O Chief of the Believers! Judge between them and relieve one from the other. Umar said. Wait! I beseech you by Allah; by Whose permission both the Heaven and the Earth stand fast ! Do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said. We Apostles do not bequeath anything to our heirs; but whatever we leave is to be given in charity. And by that Allah Messenger ﷺ s meant himself? The group said; He did say so. Umar then turned towards All and Abbas and said. I beseech you both by Allah; do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said that? They said; Yes Umar said; Now; let me talk to you about this matter. Allah favored His Apostle with something of this property war booty which He did not give to anybody else. And Allah said:- And what Allah has bestowed on His Apostle as Fai Booty from them for which you made no expedition with either cavalry or camelry... Allah is Able to do all things. 59.6 So this property was especially granted to Allah Messenger ﷺ. But by Allah he neither withheld it from you; nor did he keep it for himself and deprive you of it; but he gave it all to you and distributed it among you till only this remained out of it. And out of this property Allah Messenger ﷺ used to provide his family with their yearly needs; and whatever remained; he would spend where Allah Property the revenues of Zakat used to be spent. Allah Messenger ﷺ kept on acting like this throughout his lifetime. Now I beseech you by Allah; do you know that? They said; Yes. Then Umar said to Ali and Abbas; I beseech you by Allah; do you both know that? They said; Yes. Umar added; When Allah had taken His Apostle unto Him; Abu Bakr said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ. So he took charge of that property and did with it the same what Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do; and both of you knew all about it then. Then Umar turned towards Ali and Abbas and said; You both claim that Abu Bakr was so-and-so! But Allah knows that he was honest; sincere; pious and right in that matter. Then Allah caused Abu Bakr to die; and I said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr. So I kept this property in my possession for the first two years of my rule; and I used to do the same with it as Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr used to do. Later both of you Ali and Abbas came to me with the same claim and the same problem. O Abbas! You came to me demanding your share from the inheritance of the son of your brother; and he Ali came to me demanding his wives share from the inheritance of her father. So I said to you; If you wish I will hand over this property to you; on condition that you both promise me before Allah that you will manage it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr did; and as I have done since the beginning of my rule; otherwise you should not speak to me about it. So you both said; Hand over this property to us on this condition. And on this condition I handed it over to you. I beseech you by Allah; did I hand it over to them on that condition? The group said; Yes. Umar then faced Ali and Abbas and said; I beseech you both by Allah; did I hand it over to you both on that condition? They both said; Yes. Umar added; Do you want me now to give a decision other than that? By Him with Whose permission order both the Heaven and the Earth stand fast; I will never give any decision other than that till the Hour is established! But if you are unable to manage it that property ; then return it to me and I will be sufficient for it on your behalf. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-327		Narrated Amr Bin Maimun AlAudi: I saw Umar Bin AlKhattab when he was stabbed saying; O Abdullah Bin Umar! Go to the mother of the believers Aisha and say; Umar Bin AlKhattab sends his greetings to you; and request her to allow me to be buried with my companions. So; Ibn Umar conveyed the message to Aisha. She said; I had the idea of having this place for myself but today I prefer him Umar to myself and allow him to be buried there. When Abdullah Bin Umar returned; Umar asked him; What news do you have? He replied; O chief of the believers! She has allowed you to be buried there. On that Umar said; Nothing was more important to me than to be buried in that sacred place. So; when I expire; carry me there and pay my greetings to her Aisha and say; Umar Bin AlKhattab asks permission; and if she gives permission; then bury me there and if she does not; then take me to the graveyard of the Muslims. I do not think any person has more right for the caliphate than those with whom Allah Messenger ﷺ ﷺ was always pleased till his death. And whoever is chosen by the people after me will be the caliph; and you people must listen to him and obey him; and then he mentioned the name of Uthman; Ali; Talha ; AlZubair; Abdulrahman Bin Auf and Saad Bin Abi Waqqas. By this time a young man from Ansar came and said; O chief of the believers! Be happy with Allah glad tidings. The grade which you have in Islam is known to you; then you became the caliph and you ruled with justice and then you have been awarded martyrdom after all this. Umar replied; O son of my brother! Would that all that privileges will counterbalance my short comings ; so that I neither lose nor gain anything. I recommend my successor to be good to the early emigrants and realize their rights and to protect their honor and sacred things. And I also recommend him to be good to the Ansar who before them; had homes in Medina and had adopted the Faith. He should accept the good of the righteous among them and should excuse their wrongdoers. I recommend him to abide by the rules and regulations concerning the Dhimmis protectees of Allah and His Apostle; to fulfill their contracts completely and fight for them and not to tax overburden them beyond their capabilities. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3345		Narrated Abu AlDarda: While I was sitting with the Prophet; Abu Bakr came; lifting up one corner of his garment uncovering his knee. The Prophet ﷺ said; Your companion has had a quarrel. Abu Bakr greeted the Prophet ﷺ and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! There was something i.e. quarrel between me and the Son of AlKhattab. I talked to him harshly and then regretted that; and requested him to forgive me; but he refused. This is why I have come to you. The Prophet ﷺ said thrice; O Abu Bakr! May Allah forgive you. In the meanwhile; Umar regretted his refusal of Abu Bakr excuse and went to Abu Bakr house and asked if Abu Bakr was there. They replied in the negative. So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him; but signs of displeasure appeared on the face of the Prophet ﷺ till Abu Bakr pitied Umar ; so he knelt and said twice; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! By Allah! I was more unjust to him than he to me. The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah sent me as a Prophet to you people but you said to me ; You are telling a lie; while Abu Bakr said; He has said the truth; and consoled me with himself and his money. He then said twice; Wont you then give up harming my companion? After that nobody harmed Abu Bakr. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3750		Narrated Abbas Bin Malik: Malik Bin Sasaa said that Allah Messenger ﷺ described to them his Night Journey saying; While I was lying in AlHatim or AlHijr; suddenly someone came to me and cut my body open from here to here. I asked AlJarud who was by my side; What does he mean? He said; It means from his throat to his pubic area; or said; From the top of the chest. The Prophet ﷺ further said; He then took out my heart. Then a gold tray of Belief was brought to me and my heart was washed and was filled with Belief and then returned to its original place. Then a white animal which was smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me. On this AlJarud asked; Was it the Buraq; O Abu Hamza? I i.e. Anas replied in the affirmative. The Prophet ﷺ said; The animal step was so wide that it reached the farthest point within the reach of the animal sight. I was carried on it; and Gabriel set out with me till we reached the nearest heaven. When he asked for the gate to be opened; it was asked; Who is it? Gabriel answered; Gabriel. It was asked; Who is accompanying you? Gabriel replied; Muhammad. It was asked; Has Muhammad been called? Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said; He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is! The gate was opened; and when I went over the first heaven; I saw Adam there. Gabriel said to me. This is your father; Adam; pay him your greetings. So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said; You are welcomed; O pious son and pious Prophet. Then Gabriel ascended with me till we reached the second heaven. Then Gabriel ascended with me to the third heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked; Who is it? Gabriel replied; Gabriel. It was asked; Who is accompanying you? Gabriel replied; Muhammad. It was asked; Has he been called? Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said; He is welcomed; what an excellent visit his is! The gate was opened; and when I went over the third heaven there I saw Joseph. Gabriel said to me ; This is Joseph; pay him your greetings. So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said; You are welcomed; O pious brother and pious Prophet. Then Gabriel ascended with me to the fourth heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked; Who is it? Gabriel replied; Gabriel It was asked; Who is accompanying you? The gate was opened; and when I went over the fourth heaven; there I saw Idris. Gabriel said to me ; This is Idris; pay him your greetings. So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said; You are welcomed; O pious brother and pious Prophet. Then Gabriel ascended with me to the fifth heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked; Who is it? Gabriel replied; Gabriel. It was asked. Who is accompanying you? Gabriel replied; Muhammad. It was asked; Has he been called? Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said He is welcomed; what an excellent visit his is! So when I went over the fifth heaven; there I saw Harun i.e. Aaron ; Gabriel said; to me. This is Aaron; pay him your greetings. I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said; You are welcomed; O pious brother and pious Prophet. Then Gabriel ascended with me to the sixth heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked. Who is it? Gabriel replied; Gabriel. It was asked; Who is accompanying you? Gabriel replied; Muhammad. It was asked; Has he been called? Gabriel replied in the affirmative. It was said; He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is! When I went over the sixth heaven ; there I saw Moses. Gabriel said to me ; This is Moses; pay him your greeting. So I greeted him and he returned the greetings to me and said; You are welcomed; O pious brother and pious Prophet. When I left him i.e. Moses he wept. Someone asked him; What makes you weep? Moses said; I weep because after me there has been sent as Prophet a young man whose followers will enter Paradise in greater numbers than my followers. Then Gabriel ascended with me to the seventh heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked; Who is it? Gabriel replied; Gabriel. It was asked; Who is accompanying you? Gabriel replied; Muhammad. It was asked; Has he been called? Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said; He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is! So when I went over the seventh heaven ; there I saw Abraham. Gabriel said to me ; This is your father; pay your greetings to him. So I greeted him and he returned the greetings to me and said; You are welcomed; O pious son and pious Prophet. Then I was made to ascend to Sidrat AlMuntaha i.e. the Lote Tree of the utmost boundary Behold! Its fruits were like the jars of Hajr i.e. a place near Medina and its leaves were as big as the ears of elephants. Gabriel said; This is the Lote Tree of the utmost boundary. Behold ! There ran four rivers; two were hidden and two were visible; I asked; What are these two kinds of rivers; O Gabriel? He replied; As for the hidden rivers; they are two rivers in Paradise and the visible rivers are the Nile and the Euphrates. Then AlBait AlMamur i.e. the Sacred House was shown to me and a container full of wine and another full of milk and a third full of honey were brought to me. I took the milk. Gabriel remarked; This is the Islamic religion which you and your followers are following. Then the prayers were enjoined on me: They were fifty prayers a day. When I returned; I passed by Moses who asked me ; What have you been ordered to do? I replied; I have been ordered to offer fifty prayers a day. Moses said; Your followers cannot bear fifty prayers a day; and by Allah; I have tested people before you; and I have tried my level best with Bani Israel in vain. Go back to your Lord and ask for reduction to lessen your followers burden. So I went back; and Allah reduced ten prayers for me. Then again I came to Moses; but he repeated the same as he had said before. Then again I went back to Allah and He reduced ten more prayers. When I came back to Moses he said the same; I went back to Allah and He ordered me to observe ten prayers a day. When I came back to Moses; he repeated the same advice; so I went back to Allah and was ordered to observe five prayers a day. When I came back to Moses; he said; What have you been ordered? I replied; I have been ordered to observe five prayers a day. He said; Your followers cannot bear five prayers a day; and no doubt; I have got an experience of the people before you; and I have tried my level best with Bani Israel; so go back to your Lord and ask for reduction to lessen your follower burden. I said; I have requested so much of my Lord that I feel ashamed; but I am satisfied now and surrender to Allah Order. When I left; I heard a voice saying; I have passed My Order and have lessened the burden of My Worshipers. He then went away and said: Peace be upon you! They the angels said: May there be peace upon you and the Mercy of Allah; and they made an addition of Mercy of Allah. So he who would get into Paradise would get in the form of Adam; his length being sixty cubits; then the people who followed him continued to diminish in size up to this day. SahihMuslim-017-001-19381		Ibn Shihab reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ made an expedition to Tabuk and he the Holy Prophet had in his mind the idea of threatening the Christians of Arabia in Syria and those of Rome. Ibn Shihab further reported that Abdulrahman Bin Abdullah Bin Kaab informed him that Abdullah Bin Kaab who served as the guide of Kaab Bin Malik as he became blind that he heard Kaab Bin Malik narrate the story of his remaining behind Allah Messenger ﷺ from the Battle of Tabuk. Kaab Bin Malik said: I never remained behind Allah Messenger ﷺ from any expedition which he undertook except the Battle of Tabuk and that of the Battle of Badr. So far as the Battle of Badr is concerned; nobody was blamed for remaining behind as Allah Messenger ﷺ and the Muslims did not set out for attack but for waylaying the caravan of the Quraish; but it was Allah Who made them confront their enemies without their intention to do so. I had the honour to be with Allah Messenger ﷺ on the night of Aqaba when we pledged our allegiance to Islam and it was more dear to me than my participation in the Battle of Badr; although Badr was more popular amongst people as compared with that Tabuk. And this is my story of remaining back from Allah Messenger ﷺ on the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk. Never did I possess means enough and my circumstances more favourable than at the occasion of this expedition. And; by Allah; I had never before this expedition simultaneously in my possession two rides. Allah Messenger ﷺ set out for this expedition in extremely hot season; the journey was long and the land which he and his army had to cover was waterless and he had to confront a large army; so he informed the Muslims about the actual situation they had to face ; so that they should adequately equip themselves for this expedition; and he also told them the destination where he intended to go. And the Muslims who accompanied Allah Messenger ﷺ at that time were large in numbers but there was no proper record of them. Kaab further said: Few were the persons who wanted to absent themselves; and were under the impression that they could easily conceal themselves and thus remain undetected until revelations from Allah; the Exalted and Glorious descended in connection with them. And Allah Messenger ﷺ set out on an expedition when the fruits were ripe and their shadows had been lengthened. I had weakness for them and it was during this season that Allah Messenger ﷺ made preparations and the Muslims too along with them. I also set out in the morning so that I should make preparations along with them but I came back and did nothing and said to myself: I have means enough to make preparations as soon as I like. And I went on doing this postponing my preparations until people were about to depart and it was in the morning that Allah Messenger ﷺ set out and the Muslims too along with him; but I made no preparations. I went early in the morning and came back; but I made no decision. I continued to do so until they the Muslims hastened and covered a good deal of distance. I also made up my mind to march on and to meet them. Would that I had done that but perhaps it was not destined for me. After the departure of Allah Messenger ﷺ as I went out amongst people; I was shocked to find that I did not find anyone like me but people who were labelled as hypocrites or the people whom Allah granted exemption because of their incapacity and Allah Messenger ﷺ took no notice of me until he had reached Tabuk. One day as he was sitting amongst the people in Tabuk he said: What has happened to Kaab Bin Malik? A person from Banu Salama said: Allah Messenger; the beauty of his cloak and his appreciation of his sides have allured him and he was thus detained. Muadh Bin Jabal said: Woe be upon that what you contend. Allah Messenger; by Allah; we know nothing about him but good. Allah Messenger ﷺ ; however; kept quiet. It was during that time that he the Holy Prophet saw a person dressed in all white garment shattering the illusion of eye mirage. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: May he be Abu Khaithama and; lo; it was Abu Khaithama AlAnsari and he was that person who contributed a sa of dates and was scoffed at by the hypocrites. Kaab Bin Malik farther said: When this news reached me that Allah Messenger ﷺ was on his way back from Tabuk I was greatly perturbed. I thought of fabricating false stories and asked myself how I would save myself from his anger on the following day. In this connection; I sought the help of every prudent man from amongst the members of my family and when it was said to me that Allah Messenger ﷺ was about to arrive; all the false ideas banished from my mind and I came to the conclusion that nothing could save me but the telling of truth; so I decided to speak the truth and it was in the morning that Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived in Medina. And it was his habit that as he came back from a journey he first went to the Masjid and observed two Rakahs of nafl prayer as a mark of gratitude and then sat amongst people. And as he did that; those who had remained behind him began to put forward their excuses and take an oath before him and they were more than eighty persons. Allah Messenger ﷺ accepted their excuses on the very face of them and accepted their allegiance and sought forgiveness for them and left their secret intentions to Allah; until I presented myself to him. I greeted him and he smiled and there was a tinge of anger in that. He the Holy Prophet then said to me: Come forward. I went forward until I sat in front of him. He said to me: What kept you back? Could you not afford to go in for a ride? I said: Allah Messenger; by Allah; if I were to sit in the presence of anybody else from amongst the worldly people I would have definitely saved myself from his anger on one pretext or the other and I have also the knack to fall into argumentation; but; by Allah; I am fully aware of the fact that if I were to put forward before you a false excuse to please you Allah would definitely provoke your wrath upon me; and if I speak the truth you may be annoyed with me; but I hope that Allah would make its end well and; by Allah; there is no valid excuse for me. By Allah; I never possessed so good means; and I never had such favourable conditions for me as I had when I stayed behind you failed to join the expedition. Thereupon; Allah Messenger ﷺ said: This man told the truth; so get up until Allah gives a decision in your case. I stood up and some people of Banu Salama followed me in hot haste; and they said to me: By Allah; we do not know about you that you committed a sin prior to this. You; however; showed inability to put forward an excuse before Allah Messenger ﷺ as those who stayed behind him have put forward excuses. It would have been enough for the forgiveness of your sin that Allah Messenger ﷺ would have sought forgiveness for you. By Allah; they continued to incite me until I thought of going back to Allah Messenger ﷺ and contradict myself. Then I said to them: Has anyone else also met the same fate? They said: Yes; two persons have met the same fate as has fallen to you and they have made the sane statement as you have made; and the same verdict has been delivered in their case as it has been delivered in your case. I said: Who are they? They said: Murara Bin AlRabia Amiri and Hilal Bin Umaya AlWaqafi. They made a mention of these two pious persons to me who had participated in the Battle of Badr and there was an example for me in them. I went away when they named these two persons. Allah Messenger ﷺ forbade the Nluslims to talk with three of us from amongst those persons who had stayed behind him. The people began to avoid us and their attitude towards us underwent a change and it seemed as if the whole atmosphere had turned hostile against us and it was in fact the same atmosphere ot which I was fully aware and in which I had lived for a fairly long time. We spent fifty nights in this very state and my two friends confined themselves withen their houses and spent most of the time in weeping; but as I was young and strong amongst them I got out of my house ; participated in congregational prayers; moved about in the bazar; but none spoke to me. I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ as he sat amongst people after the prayer; greeted him and asked myself whether his lips stirred in response to my greetings or not. Then I observed prayer beside him and looked at him with stealing glances and when I attended to my prayer; he looked at me and when I cast a glance at him he turned away his eyes from me. And when the harsh treatment of the Muslims towards me extended to a considerable length of time; I walked until I climbed upon the wall of the garden of Abu Qatada; and he was my cousin; and I had the greatest love for him. I greeted him but; by Allah; he did not respond to my greetings. I said to him: Abu Qatada; I adjure you by Allah; arnt you well aware of the fact that I love Allah and His Messenger ﷺ the most. He kept quiet. I again repeated saying: I adjure you by Allah. arnt you well aware of the fact that I love Allah and His Messenger ﷺ the most. He kept quiet. I again adjured him; whereupon he said: Allah and the Messenger ﷺ are best aware of it. My eyes began to shed tears and I came back climbing down from the wall and as I was walking in the bazar of Medina a Nabatean from amongst the Nabateans of Syria; who had come to sell foodgrains in Medina; asked people to direct him to Kaab Bin Malik. People gave him the indication by pointing towards me. He came to me and delivered to me a letter of the King of Ghassan and as I was a scribe I read that letter and it was written like this: Coming to my point; it has been conveyed to us that your friend the Holy Prophet is subjecting you to cruelty and Allah has not created you for a place where you are to be degraded and where you cannot find your right place; so you come to us that we should accord you honour. As I read that letter I said: This is also a calamity; so I burnt it in the oven. When out of the fifty days; forty days had passed and Allah Messenger ﷺ received no revelation; there came the messenger of Allah Messenger ﷺ to me and said: Verily; Allah Messenger ﷺ has commanded you to remain separate from your wife. I said: Should I divorce her or what else should I do? He said: No; but only remain separate from her and dont have sexual contact with her. The same message was sent to my companions. So I said to my wife: You better go to your parents and stay there with them until Allah gives the decision in my case. The wife of Hilal Bin Umaya came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger; Hilal Bin Umaya is a senile person; he has no servant. Do you disapprove of my serving him? He said: No; but dont go near him. She said: By Allah; he has no such instinct in him. By Allah; he spends his time in weeping from that day to this day. Some of the members of my family said to me: Were you to seek permission from Allah Messenger ﷺ in regard to your wife as he has granted permission to the wife of Hilal Bin Umaya to serve him. I said: I would not seek permission from Allah Messenger ﷺ ; for I cannot say what Allah Apostle may say in response to seeking my permission. Moreover; I am a young man. It was in this state that I spent ten more nights and thus fifty nights had passed that people had observed boycott with us. It was on the morning of the fiftieth night that I observed my dawn prayer and was sitting on one of the roofs of our houses. And I was in fact sitting in that very state which Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; has described about us in these words: Life had become hard for myself and the earth had compressed despite its vastness; that I heard the noise of an announcer from the peak of the hill of Sal saying at the top of his voice: Kaab Bin Malik; there is glad tidings for you. I fell down in prostration and came to realise that there was a message of relief for me. Allah Messenger ﷺ had informed the people of the acceptance of our repentance by Allah as he offered the dawn prayer. So the people went on to give us glad tidings and some of them went to my friends in order to give them the glad tidings and a person galloped his horse and came from the tribe of Aslam and his horse reached me more quickly than his voice. And when he came to me whose sound I heard; he gave me the glad tidings. I took off my clothes and clothed him with them because of his bringing good news to me and; by Allah; I possessed nothing else in the form of clothes than these two on that occasion; and I asked one to lend me two clothes and dressed myself in them. I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and on my way I met groups of people who greeted me because of the acceptance of repentance and they said: Here is a greeting for you for your repentance being accepted by Allah. I moved on until I came to the Masjid and Allah Messenger ﷺ had been sitting there amongst persons. So Talha Bin Ubaidullah got up and rushed towards me and he shook hands with me and greeted me and; by Allah; no person stood up to greet me from amongst the emigrants except he. Kaab said that he never forgot this good gesture of Talha. Kaab further said: I greeted Allah Messenger ﷺ with Assalam-o-Alaikam and his face was glistening because of delight; and he said: Let there be glad tidings and blessings for you; the like of which you have neither found nor you will find; as you find today since your mother gave your birth. I said: Allah Messenger. is this acceptance of repentance from you or from Allah? He said: No; it is not from ma ; it is from Allah; and it was common with Allah Messenger ﷺ that as he was happy his face brightened up and it looked like a part of the moon and it was from this that we recognised it his delight. As I sat before him; I said: Allah Messenger; am I allowed to give in charity my wealth for Allah sake and for the sake of His Messenger ﷺ ? Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Keep some property with you as it is better for you. I said: I shall keep with me that part of my property which fell to my lot on the occasion of the expedition of Khaibar. I said: Allah Messenger; verily; Allah has granted me salvation because of truth and; therefore; I think that repentance implies that I should not speak anything but truth as long as I live. He said: By Allah; I do not know whether anyone amongst the Muslims was put to more severe trial than I by Allah because of telling the truth. And since I made a mention of this to Allah Messenger ﷺ up to this day I have not told any lie and; by Allah; I have decided not to tell a lie and I hope that Allah would save me from trials for the rest of my life and Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; revealed these verses: Certainly; Allah has turned in Mercy to the Prophet and the emigrants and the helpers who followed him in the hour of hardship after the hearts of a part of them were about to deviate; then He turned to them in mercy. Surely; to them He is Compassionate; Merciful and He turned in Mercy to the three who were left behind until the earth despite its vastness became strait for them and their souls were also straitened to them. And this revelation reached up to the words : O you who believe; develop God consciousness; and be with the truthful ix. 117-118. Kaab said: By Allah; since Allah directed me to Islam there has been no blessing more significant for me than this truth of mine which I spoke to Allah Messenger ﷺ and if I were to tell a lie I would have been ruined as were ruined those who told lies; for in regard to those who told lies Allah used harshest words used for anyone as He descended revelation and the words of Allah are : They will swear by Allah to you when you retu n to them so that you may leave them alone. So leave them alone. Surely; they are unclean and their resort is Hell; recompense for what they earned. They will swear to you that you may be pleased with them but if you are pleased with them; yet surely Allah is not pleased with the transgressing people ix. 95-96. Kaab said that the matter of us three persons was deferred as compared with those who took an oath in the presence of Allahs Messenger ﷺ and he accepted their allegiance and sought forgiveness for them and Allah did not give any decision in regard to us. It was Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; Who gave decisions in our case; three who remained behind. The words of the Quran the three who were left behind do not mean that we remained back from Jihad but these imply that He kept our matter behind them who took oath and presented excuse before Him. SahihMuslim-017-001-19936		Abu Mousa Ashari reported that he went to Umar Bin AlKhattab and greeted him by saying: AlSalamu-Alaikum; here is Abdullah Bin Qais; but he did not permit him to get in. He Abu Mousa Ashari again greeted him with AlSalamu-Alaikum and said: Here is Abu Mousa; but he Hadrat Umar did not permit him to get in. He again said: AlSalam-u-Alaikum; and said here is Ashari; then receiving no response he came back. He Hadrat Umar said: Bring him back to me; bring him back to me So he went there in the presence of Hadrat Umar and he said to him: Abu Mousa; what made you go back; while we were busy in some work? He said: I heard Allah Messenger may. ﷺ as saying: Permission should be sought thrice. And if you are permitted; then get in ; otherwise go back. He said: Bring witness to this fact; otherwise I shall do this and that; i. e. I shall punish you. Abu Mousa went away and Umar said to him on his departure : It he Abu Mousa finds a witness he should meet him by the side of the pulpit in the evening and it he does not find a witness you would not find him there. When it was evening he Hadrat Umar found him Abu Mousa there. He Hadrat Umar said: Abu Mousa; have you been able to find a witness to what you have said? He said: Yes. Here is Ubay Bin Kaab whereupon he Hadrat Umar said: Yes; he is an authentic witness. He Hadrat Umar said: Abu Tufail the kunya of Ubay Bin Kaab ; what does he Abu Mousa say? Thereupon he said: Ibn AlKhattab; I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying so. Do not prove to be a hard task-master for the Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; whereupon he Hadrat Umar said: Hallowed be Allah. SahihMuslim-017-001-21142		Miqdad reported: I and two of my companions were so much afflicted by hunger that we had lost our power of seeing and hearing. We presented ourselves as guests to the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ ; but none amongst them would entertain us. So we came to Allah Apostle ﷺ ; and he took us to his residence and there were three goats. Allah Apostle ﷺ said: Milk these for us. So we milked them and every person amongst us drank his share and we set Aasi de the share of Allah Apostle ﷺ. It was his habit to come during the night and greet the people present there in a manner that would not wake up one in sleep but make one who was awake hear it. He would then go to the Masjid and say prayer; then go to the milk and drink it. Miqdad added: One night the Satan came to me when I had taken my share; and he said: Muhammad has gone to the Ansar; who would offer him hospitality and he would get what is with them; and he has no need for this draught of milk. So I took that milk and drank it; and when it had penetrated deeply in my stomach and I was certain that there was no way out but to digest it ; the Satan aroused my sense of remorse and said: Woe be to thee! what have you done? You have taken the drink reserved for Muhammad! When he would come and he would not find it; he would curse you; and you would be ruined; and thus there would go waste this world and the Hereafter for you. There was a sheet over me; as I placed pulled it upon my feet; my head was uncovered and as I placed it upon my head; my feet were uncovered; and I could not sleep; but my two companions had gone to sleep for they had not done what I had done. There came Allah Apostle ﷺ ; and he greeted as he used to greet by saying AlSalamu Alaikum. He then came to the Masjid and observed prayer and then came to his drink milk and uncovered it; but did not find anything in it. He raised his head towards the sky; and I said to myself that he the Holy Prophet was going to invoke curse upon me and I would be thus ruined; but he the Holy Prophet said: Allah; feed him who fed me and give drink to him who provided me drink. I held tight the sheet upon myself and when he had supplicated ; I took hold of the knife and went to the goats possessed by the Holy Prophet so that I may slauhter one for Allah Messenger ﷺ which was the fattest amongst them; and in fact all of them were milch goats; then I took hold of the vessel which belonged to the family of Allah Messenger ﷺ in which they used to milk and drink therefrom; and milked them in that until it swelled up with foam. I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and he said: Have you taken your share of the milk during the night? I said: Drink it. and he drank it; he then handed over the vessel to me and I said: Allah Messenger; drink it; and he drank it and handed over the vessel to me again; I then perceived that Allah Apostle ﷺ had been satiated and I had got his blessings. I burst into laughter so much so that I fell upon the ground; whereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Miqdad; it must be one of your mischiefs. I said: Allah Messenger; this affair of mind is like this and this. and I have done so. Thereupon. Allah Apostle ﷺ said: This is nothing but a mercy from Allah. Why is it that you did not give me an opportunity so that we should have awakened our two friends and they would have got their share of the milk ? I said: By Him Who has sent you with Truth. I do not mind whatever you give to them ; and whatever the other people happen to get; when I had got it along with you from among the people. Two persons were left and they were busy in talking and did not get out of the apartment. He the Holy Prophet then proceeded towards the apartments of his wives. I do not know whether I had informed him; or there was a revelation to him to the affect that they had gone. He the Holy Prophet then came back and I also returned along with him; and as he put his step on the threshold of his door he hung a curtain between me and him; and it was on this occasion that Allah revealed this verse: O you who believe ; do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless permission is given to you xxxiii. 53. He said: O Lord! Add to his age. He said: That is what I have written for him. He said: O Lord! Give him sixty of my years. He said: So you shall have it. He said: Then; he resided in Paradise as long as Allah willed; then he was cast from it; so Adam was counting for himself. He said: So the Angel of death came to him; and Adam said to him: You are hasty; one-thousand years were written for me. He said: Of course! But you gave sixty years to your son Dawud. So he rejected; and his offspring rejected; and he forgot; and his offspring forgot. He said: So ever since that day; what is written and witnessed has been decreed. So he should wash his face; his arms up to the elbows; and wipe his head; and wash his feet up to the ankles. Then he should magnify Allah SWT and praise Him and glorify Him. - One of the narrators Hammam said: I heard him say: He should praise Allah and glorify Him and magnify Him. He said: I heard both of them. -He the Prophet ﷺ said: He should recite whatever is easy for him of the Quran that Allah has taught him and permitted him in it the prayer. Then he should say the Takbir and bow until his joints settle and he is relaxed. Then he should say: Sami Allahu liman hamidah Allah hears the one who praises Him and stand up straight until his backbone is straight and at ease. Then he should say Takbir and prostrate until he has placed his face firmly on the ground. I heard him say: his forehead; until his joints settle and he is relaxed. Then he should say the Takbir and sit up until his backbone is straight and at ease. Then he should prostrate until he has placed his face firmly on the ground and he is relaxed. If he does not do that then he has not completed his prayer. The Prophet ﷺ had been watching him as he prayed; so he returned his salam; then he said: Go back and pray; for you have not prayed. So he went back and prayed; then he came back and greeted the Prophet ﷺ with salam. He returned the salam; then he said: Go back and pray; for you have not prayed. The third or fourth time this happened; then the man said: By the One Who revealed the Book to you; I have done my best and have tried hard; show me and teach me. He said: When you want to pray; perform Ablution and do it well; then turn to face the Qiblah and say the takbir. Then recite the Quran; then bow until you are at ease in bowing. Then stand up until you are standing straight; then prostrate until you are at ease prostrating; then sit up until you are at ease sitting; then prostrate until you are at ease prostrating; then get up. If you complete the prayer in this manner you wil hve done it properly; and whatever you do less than this is lacking from you prayer. She said to me : Let me perform hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said to her : I have nothing upon which I can let you perform hajj. She said: Let me perform hajj on your such-and-such camel. I said: That is dedicated to the cause of Allah; The Exalted. He replied: If you let her perform hajj on it; that would be in the cause of Allah. He said: She has also requested me to ask you: What is that action which is equivalent to performing hajj with you? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Convey my greetings; the mercy of Allah and His blessings to her and tell her that umrah during Ramadan is equivalent to performing hajj along with me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned with him. Saad then offered to prepare bath-water for him; and he took a bath. He then gave him a long wrapper dyed with saffron or wars and he wrapped himself in it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then raised his hands and said: O Allah; bestow Thy blessings and mercy on the family of Saad Ibn Ubadah! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then shared their meals. When he intended to return; Saad brought near him an ass which was covered with a blanket. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mounted it. Saad said: O Qays; accompany the Messenger of Allah. Qays said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: Ride. But I refused. He again said: Either ride or go away. He said: So I went away. Hisham said: Abu Marwan transmitted from Muhammad Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Asad Ibn Zurarah.Abu Dawud said: Umar Bin Abd AlWahid and Ibn Samaah transmitted it from AlAwzai in mursal form the ling of the Companion being missing ; and they did not mention Qais Bin Sad. He said; Peace be upon you; and the mercy of Allah and His blessing as-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu ; and then he added something more to that. Ibn Abbas said and at that time his eyesight had gone ; Who is this? People said; This is a Yemeni who has come to see you; and they introduced him. Ibn Abbas said; The greeting ends with the word blessing. Yahya said that Malik was asked; Does one greet a woman? He said; As for an old woman; I do not disapprove of it. MuwataMalik-017-001-34534		Yahya related to me from Malik from Ishaq Ibn Abdullah Ibn Abi Talha that AlTufayl Ibn Ubay Ibn Kaab told him that he visited Abdullah Ibn Umar one morning and went out with him to the market; and when they were out; Abdullah Ibn Umar did not pass by anyone selling poor merchandise or selling commodities or a needy person or anyone but that he greeted them. AlTufayl said; I came to Abdullah Ibn Umar one day and he asked me to follow him to the market. I said to him; What will you do in the market if you will not stop to sell nor seek any goods or barter with them or sit in any of the assemblies or market? Abdullah Ibn Umar said that we should sit down and talk; and then he explained; Abu Batni; lit. father of the belly; AlTufayl had a prominent stomach ; we go out in the morning only for the sake of the greeting. MuwataMalik-017-001-36008		Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu Hazim Ibn Dinar that Sahl Ibn Sad AlSaidi said; There are two times when the gates of heaven are opened; and few who make supplication have it returned to them unanswered. They are at the timeof the adhan; and in a rank of people fighting in the way of Allah. Malik was asked whether the adhan on the day of jumua was called before the time had come for the prayer and he said; It is not called until after the sun has passed the meridian. Malik was asked about doubling the adhan and the iqama; and at what point people had to stand when the iqama for the prayer was called. He said; I have heard nothing about the adhan and iqama except what I have seen people do. As for the iqama; it is not doubled. That is what the people of knowledge in our region continue to do. As for people standing up when the iqama for the prayer is called; I have not heard of any definite point at which it is begun; and I consider it rather to be according to people individual capacity; for some people are heavy and some are light; and they are not able to be as one man. Malik was asked about a gathering of people who wished to do the prescribed prayer calling the iqama and not the adhan; and he said; lt is enough for them. The adhan is only obligatory in Masjids where the prayer is said in congregation. Malik was asked about the muadhdhin saying Peace be upon you to the imam and calling him to the prayer; and he was asked who was the first person to whom such a greeting was made. He replied; I have not heard that this greeting occurred in the first community. Yahya said that Malik was asked whether a muadhdhin who called the people to prayer and then waited to see if anyone would come and no one did; so he said the iqama and did the prayer by himself and then people came after he had finished; should repeat the prayer with them. Malik said; He does not repeat the prayer; and whoever comes after he has finished should do the prayer by himself. Yahya said that Malik was asked about a muadhdhin who called the adhan for a group of people; did voluntary prayers; and then the group of people wanted to do the prayer with some one else saying the iqama. He said; There is no harm in that. His iqama or somebody else are the same. Yahya said that Malik said; The subh prayer is still called before dawn. As for the other prayers; we believe that they should only be called after the time has started. MuwataMalik-017-001-36058		Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah Ibn Umar used to say the tashahhud saying; In the name of Allah. Greetings belong to Allah. Prayers belong to Allah. Pure actions belong to Allah. Peace be on the Prophet and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be on us and on the slaves of Allah who are salihun. I testify that there is no god except Allah. I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Bismillah; AlTahiyatu lillah; AlSalawatu lillah; AlZakiyatu lillah. AlSalamu alan-nabiyi wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. AlSalamu alayna wa ala ibadillahis-salihin. Shahidtu an la ilaha illallah. Shahidtu anna Muhammad AlRasulullah. He used to say this after the first two rakas and he would make supplication with whatever seemed fit to him when the tashahhud was completed. When he sat at the end of the prayer; he did the tashahhud in a similar manner; except that after the tashahhud he made supplication with whatever seemed fit to him. When he had completed the tashahhud and intended to say the taslim; he said; Peace be on the Prophet and His mercy and blessings. Peace be upon us and on the slaves of Allah who are salihun. Alsalamu alan-nabiyi wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. AlSalamu alayna wa ala ibadillahissalihin. He then said; Peace be upon you to his right; and would return the greeting to the imam; and if anyone said Peace be upon you from his left he would return the greeting to him.
