Take not my enemies and yours as friends (or protectors), - offering them (your) love, even though they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have (on the contrary) driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), (simply) because ye believe in Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this has strayed from the Straight Path.

Aisha said; If Allah Messenger ﷺ were to conceal anything of the Quran he would have concealed this Verse. Zainab used to boast before the wives of the Prophet ﷺ and used to say; You were given in marriage by your families; while I was married to the Prophet by Allah from over seven Heavens. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1730Narrated AlMiqdad Bin Amr AlKindi: An ally of Bani Zuhra who took part in the battle of Badr with the Prophet; that he said; O Allah Apostle! If I meet an unbeliever and we have a fight; and he strikes my hand with the sword and cuts it off; and then takes refuge from me under a tree; and says; I have surrendered to Allah i.e. embraced Islam ; may I kill him after he has said so? Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Do not kill him. AlMiqdad said; But O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He had chopped off one of my hands and he said that after he had cut it off. May I kill him? The Prophet ﷺ said. Do not kill him for if you kill him; he would be in the position in which you had been before you kill him; and you would be in the position in which he was before he said the sentence. The Prophet ﷺ also said to AlMiqdad; If a faithful believer conceals his faith Islam from the disbelievers; and then when he declares his Islam; you kill him; you will be sinful. I responded to his call; but I too concealed it from you for he did not come to you ; as you were not fully dressed. He did not realize until the Messenger of Allah s.a.w struck him with his hand on his back; then he said: Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah? So Ibn Sayad looked at him; and said: I testify that you are the Messenger to the illiterates. He said: Then Ibn Sayad said to the Prophet ﷺ : Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah? So the Prophet ﷺ said: I believe in Allah and His Messengers. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: Who has come to you? Ibn Sayad said: A truthful one and a liar came to me. Before he was aware; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him a pat on the back and said : Do you testify that you are the Messenger of Allah Ibn Sayad then looked at him and said: I testify that you are the Apostle of Gentiles. Ibn Sayad then said the prophet ﷺ then asked him : What comes to you ? He replied: One who speaks the truth and one who lies come to me. The prophet may peace upon him said: You are confused.
