Hudhaifa said; Dont worry about it; O chief of the believers; for there is a closed door between you and them. Umar said; Will that door be broken or opened? I said; No. it will be broken. Umar said; Then it will never be closed; I said; Yes. We asked Hudhaifa; Did Umar know what that door meant? He replied; Yes; as I know that there will be night before tomorrow morning; that is because I narrated to him a true narration free from errors. We dared not ask Hudhaifa as to whom the door represented so we ordered Masruq to ask him what does the door stand for? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2402Narrated Abdullah Bin Abbas: Umar Bin AlKhattab departed for Sham and when he reached Sargh; the commanders of the Muslim army; Abu Ubaida Bin AlJarrah and his companions met him and told him that an epidemic had broken out in Sham. Umar said; Call for me the early emigrants. So Umar called them; consulted them and informed them that an epidemic had broken out in Sham. Those people differed in their opinions. Some of them said; We have come out for a purpose and we do not think that it is proper to give it up; while others said to Umar ; You have along with you. other people and the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ so do not advise that we take them to this epidemic. Umar said to them; Leave me now. Then he said; Call the Ansar for me. I called them and he consulted them and they followed the way of the emigrants and differed as they did. He then said to them; Leave me now; and added; Call for me the old people of Quraish who emigrated in the year of the Conquest of Mecca. I called them and they gave a unanimous opinion saying; We advise that you should return with the people and do not take them to that place of epidemic. So Umar made an announcement; I will ride back to Medina in the morning; so you should do the same. Abu Ubaida Bin AlJarrah said to Umar ; Are you running away from what Allah had ordained? Umar said; Would that someone else had said such a thing; O Abu Ubaida! Yes; we are running from what Allah had ordained to what Allah has ordained. Dont you agree that if you had camels that went down a valley having two places; one green and the other dry; you would graze them on the green one only if Allah had ordained that; and you would graze them on the dry one only if Allah had ordained that? At that time Abdulrahman Bin Auf; who had been absent because of some job; came and said; I have some knowledge about this. I have heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying; If you hear about it an outbreak of plague in a land; do not go to it; but if plague breaks out in a country where you are staying; do not run away from it. My aunt family requested the girl relatives for forgiveness but they refused; then they proposed a compensation; but they refused. Then they went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and refused everything except AlQisas i.e. equality in punishment. So Allah Apostle passed the judgment of AlQisas i.e. equality of punishment. SahihMuslim-017-001-18658It is narrated on the authority of Hudhaifa: We were sitting in the company of Umar and he said: Who amongst you has heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ talking about the turmoil? Some people said: It is we who heard it. Upon this be remarked: Perhaps by turmoil you presume the unrest of man in regard to his household or neighbour; they replied: Yes. He Umar observed: Such an unrest would be done away with by prayer; fasting and charity. But who amongst you has heard from the Apostle ﷺ describing that turmoil which would come like the wave of the ocean. Hudhaifa said: The people hushed into silence; I replied: It is I. He Umar said: Ye; well; your father was also very pious. Hudhaifa said: I heard the Messenger of Allah may peace be; upon him observing: Temptations will be presented to men hearts as reed mat is woven stick by stick and any heart which is impregnated by them will have a black mark put into it; but any heart which rejects them will have a white mark put in it. The result is that there will become two types of hearts: one white like a white stone which will not be harmed by any turmoil or temptation; so long as the heavens and the earth endure; and the other black and dust-coloured like a vessel which is upset; not recognizing what is good or rejecting what is abominable; but being impregnated with passion. Hudhaifa said: I narrated to him Umar : There is between you and that turmoil a closed door; but there is every likelihood of its being broken. Umar said: Would it be broken? You have; been rendered fatherless. Had it been opened; it would have been perhaps closed also. I said: No; it would be broken; and I narrated to him: Verily that door implies a person who would be killed or die. There is no mistake in this hadith. Abu Khalid narrated: I said to Sad; O Abu Malik; what do you mean by the term Aswad Murbadda? He replied: High degree of whiteness in blackness. I said: What is meant by Alkoozu Mujakhiyan? Thereupon he said: Then it would not be closed despite best efforts. We said to Hudhaifa: Did Umar know the door? Thereupon he said: Yes; he knew it for certain just as one knows that night precedes the next day. And I narrated to him something in which there was nothing fabricated. Shaqiq one of the narrators said: We dared not ask Hudhaifa about that door. So we requested Masruq to ask him. SahihMuslim-017-001-19639It is reported either on the authority of Ibn Abbas or on the authority of Abu Huraira that a person came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger; I saw while I was sleeping during the night this vision that there was a canopy from which butter and honey were trickling and I also saw people collecting them in the palms of their hands; some more; some less; and I also saw a rope connecting the earth with the sky and I saw you catching hold of it and rising towards the heaven; then another person after you catching hold of it and rising towards Heaven ; then another person catching hold of it; but it was broken while it was rejoined for him and he also climbed up. Abu Bakr said: Allah Messenger; may my father be sacrificed for you; by Allah; allow me to interpret it. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Well; give its interpretation. Thereupon Abu Bakr said: The canopy signifies the canopy of Islam and that what trickles out of it in the form of butter and honey is the Holy Quran and its sweetness and softness and what the people get hold of it in their palms implies major portion of the Quran or the small portion; and so far as the rope joining the sky with the earth is concerned; it is the Truth by which you stood in the worldly life and by which Allah would raise you to Heaven. Then the person after you would take hold of it and he would also climb up with the help of it. Then another person would take hold of it and climb up with the help of it. Then another person would take hold of it and it would be broken; then it would be rejoined for him and he would climb up with the help of it. Allah Messenger; may my father be taken as a ransom for you; tell me whether I have interpreted it correctly or I have made an error. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: You have interpreted a part of it correctly and you have erred in interpreting a part of it. Thereupon he said: Allah Messenger; by Allah; tell me that part where I have committed an error. He made a decision in accordance with the Book of Allah that retaliation should be taken. Anas Bin AlNadr said: I swear by Him who has sent you the truth; her front tooth will not be broken today. He replied: Anas ! Allah decree is retaliation. I did not find anything which attracted me except an animal whose teeth have fallen. So I abominated it. What do you say about it ? He said: Why did you not bring it to me? He said: Glory be to Allah: Is if lawful for you and not lawful for me? He said: Yes; you doubt and I do not doubt. MuwataMalik-017-001-34694Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Abd AlHamid Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Zayd Ibn AlKhattab from Abdullah Ibn Abdullah Ibn AlHarith Ibn Nawfal from Abdullah Ibn Abbas that Umar Ibn AlKhattab set out for AlSham and when he was at Sargh; near Tabuk; the commanders of the army; Abu Ubayda Ibn AlJarrah and his companions; met him and told him that the plague had broken out in AlSham. Ibn Abbas said; Umar Ibn AlKhattab said; all the first Muhajir unto me. He assembled them and asked them for advice; informing them that the plague had broken out in AlSham. They disagreed. Some said; You have set out for something; and we do not think that you should leave it. Others said; You have the companions of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and the rest of the people with you; and we do not think that you should send them towards this plague. Umar said; Leave me. Then he said; Summon the Ansar to me. They were summoned and he asked them for advice. They acted as the Muhajirun had and disagreed as they had disagreed. He said; Leave me. Then he said; Summon to me whoever is here of the aged men of Quraysh from the Muhajirun of the conquest. He summoned them and not one of them differed. They said; We think that you should withdraw the people and not send them towards the plague. Umar called out to the people; I am leaving by camel in the morning; so they set out. Abu Ubayda said; Is it flight from the decree of Allah? Umar said; Better that someone other than you had said it; Abu Ubayda. Yes. We flee from the decree of Allah to the decree of Allah. What would you think if these camels had gone down into a valley which had two slopes; one of them fertile; and the other barren. If you pastured in the fertile part; wouldnt you pasture them by the decree of Allah? If you pastured them in the barren part; wouldnt you pasture them by the decree of Allah? Abdulrahman Ibn Awuf arrived and he had been off doing something and he said; I have some knowledge of this. I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say; If you hear about it in a land; do not go forward to it. If it comes upon a land and you are in it; then do not depart in flight from it. MuwataMalik-017-001-35491Yahya related to me from Malik from Sumay; the mawla of Abu Bakr Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn AlHarith Ibn Hisham that he heard Abu Bakr Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn AlHarith Ibn Hisham say; My father and I were with Marwan Ibn AlHakam at the time when he was amir of Madina; and someone mentioned to him that Abu Huraira used to say; If someone begins the morning junub; he has broken the fast for that day. Marwan said; I swear to you; Abdar-Rahman; you must go to the two umm Almuminin; Aisha and Umm Salamah; and ask them about it. Abdulrahman went to visit Aisha and I accompanied him. He greeted her and then said; Umm Almuminin; we were with Marwan Ibn AlHakam and someone mentioned to him that Abu Huraira used to say that if some one had begun the morning junub; he had broken the fast for that day. Aisha said; It is not as Abu Huraira says Abdulrahman Do you dislike what the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; used to do?; and Abdulrahman said; No; by Allah. Aisha said; I bear witness that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; used to get up in the morning junub from intercourse; not a dream; and would then fast for that day. He continued; Then we went and visited Umm Salamah; and Abdulrahman asked her about the same matter and she said the same as Aisha had said. Then we went off until we came to Marwan Ibn AlHakam Abdulrahman told him what they had both said and Marwan said; I swear to you; Abu Muhammad; you must use the mount which is at the door; and go to Abu Huraira; who is on his land at AlAqiq; and tell him this. So Abdulrahman rode off; and I went with him; until we came to Abu Huraira. Abdulrahman talked with him for a while; and then mentioned the matter to him; and Abu Huraira said; I dont know anything about it.
