Hadith PageArabic TextEnglish TranslationBook and Chapter
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-234Narrated Amir Bin Saad Bin Abi Waqqas: That his father said; In the year of the last Hajj of the Prophet ﷺ I became seriously ill and the Prophet ﷺ used to visit me inquiring about my health. I told him; I am reduced to this state because of illness and I am wealthy and have no inheritors except a daughter; In this narration the name of Amir Bin Saad is mentioned and in fact it is a mistake; the narrator is Aisha bint Saad Bin Abi Waqqas. Should I give two-thirds of my property in charity? He said; No. I asked; Half? He said; No. then he added; Onethird; and even one-third is much. Youd better leave your inheritors wealthy rather than leaving them poor; begging others. You will get a reward for whatever you spend for Allah sake; even for what you put in your wife mouth. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Will I be left alone after my companions have gone? He said; If you are left behind; whatever good deeds you will do will upgrade you and raise you high. And perhaps you will have a long life so that some people will be benefited by you while others will be harmed by you. O Allah! Complete the emigration of my companions and do not turn them renegades. But Allah Messenger ﷺ felt sorry for poor Saad Bin Khaula as he died in Mecca. but Saad Bin Abi Waqqas lived long after the Prophet ﷺ.The Chapter on Wealth And Food in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The sorrow of the Prophet pbuh for Saad Bin Khaula in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5923Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ ﷺ said; A man said that he would give something in charity. He went out with his object of charity and unknowingly gave it to a thief. Next morning the people said that he had given his object of charity to a thief. On hearing that he said; O Allah! All the praises are for you. I will give alms again. And so he again went out with his alms and unknowingly gave it to an adulteress. Next morning the people said that he had given his alms to an adulteress last night. The man said; O Allah! All the praises are for you. I gave my alms to an adulteress. I will give alms again. So he went out with his alms again and unknowingly gave it to a rich person. The people next morning said that he had given his alms to a wealthy person. He said; O Allah! All the praises are for you. I had given alms to a thief; to an adulteress and to a wealthy man. Then someone came and said to him; The alms which you gave to the thief; might make him abstain from stealing; and that given to the adulteress might make her abstain from illegal sexual intercourse adultery ; and that given to the wealthy man might make him take a lesson from it and spend his wealth which Allah has given him; in Allah cause. The Chapter on Fornication And Adultery And Charity in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on If one gives an object of charity to a wealthy person unknowingly in Sahih AlBukhari
