Here is a similitude: How rain and the growth which it brings forth, delight (the hearts of) the tillers; soon it withers; thou wilt see it grow yellow; then it becomes dry and crumbles away. But in the Hereafter is a Penalty severe (for the devotees of wrong). And Forgiveness from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure (for the devotees of Allah). And what is the life of this world, but goods and chattels of deception?

Violate not the sanctity of the symbols of Allah, nor of the sacred month, nor of the animals brought for sacrifice, nor the garlands that mark out such animals, nor the people resorting to the sacred house, seeking of the bounty and good pleasure of their Lord. But when ye are clear of the sacred precincts and of pilgrim garb, ye may hunt and let not the hatred of some people in (once) shutting you out of the Sacred Mosque lead you to transgression (and hostility on your part). Help ye one another in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and rancour: fear Allah: for Allah is strict in punishment.

Take not my enemies and yours as friends (or protectors), - offering them (your) love, even though they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have (on the contrary) driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), (simply) because ye believe in Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this has strayed from the Straight Path.

But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them: (We commanded) only the seeking for the Good Pleasure of Allah; but that they did not foster as they should have done. Yet We bestowed, on those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are rebellious transgressors.

Thou wilt see them bow and prostrate themselves (in prayer), seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure. On their faces are their marks, (being) the traces of their prostration. This is their similitude in the Taurat; and their similitude in the Gospel is: like a seed which sends forth its blade, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick, and it stands on its own stem, (filling) the sowers with wonder and delight. As a result, it fills the Unbelievers with rage at them. Allah has promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds forgiveness, and a great Reward.

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2494		Narrated Ibn Umar: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; While three persons were traveling; they were overtaken by rain and they took shelter in a cave in a mountain. A big rock fell from the mountain over the mouth of the cave and blocked it. They said to each other. Think of such good righteous deeds which; you did for Allah sake only; and invoke Allah by giving reference to those deeds so that Allah may relieve you from your difficulty. one of them said; O Allah! I had my parents who were very old and I had small children for whose sake I used to work as a shepherd. When I returned to them at night and milked the sheep ; I used to start giving the milk to my parents first before giving to my children. And one day I went far away in search of a grazing place for my sheep ; and didnt return home till late at night and found that my parents had slept. I milked my livestock as usual and brought the milk vessel and stood at their heads; and I disliked to wake them up from their sleep; and I also disliked to give the milk to my children before my parents though my children were crying from hunger at my feet. So this state of mine and theirs continued till the day dawned. O Allah! If you considered that I had done that only for seeking Your pleasure; then please let there be an opening through which we can see the sky. So Allah made for them an opening through which they could see the sky. Then the second person said; O Allah! I had a cousin whom I loved as much as a passionate man love a woman. I tried to seduce her but she refused till I paid her one-hundred Dinars So I worked hard till I collected one hundred Dinars and went to her with that But when I sat in between her legs to have sexual intercourse with her ; she said; O Allah slave! Be afraid of Allah ! Do not deflower me except legally by marriage contract. So I left her O Allah! If you considered that I had done that only for seeking Your pleasure then please let the rock move a little to have a wider opening. So Allah shifted that rock to make the opening wider for them. And the last third person said O Allah ! I employed a laborer for wages equal to a Faraq a certain measure: of rice; and when he had finished his job he demanded his wages; but when I presented his due to him; he gave it up and refused to take it. Then I kept on sowing that rice for him several times till managed to buy with the price of the yield; some cows and their shepherd Later on the laborer came to me an said. O Allah slave! Be afraid o Allah; and do not be unjust to me an give me my due. I said to him. Go and take those cows and their shepherd. So he took them and went away. So; O Allah! If You considered that I had done that for seeking Your pleasure; then please remove the remaining part of the rock. And so Allah released them from their difficulty. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3052		Narrated Urban Bin Malik: who attended the Badr battle and was from the Ansar; that he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said; O Allah Apostle! I have lost my eyesight and I lead my people in the prayer as an Imam. When it rains; the valley which is between me and my people; flows with water; and then I cannot go to their Masjid to lead them in the prayer. O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I wish that you could come and pray in my house so that I may take it as a praying place. The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah willing; I will do that. The next morning; soon after the sun had risen; Allah Messenger ﷺ came with Abu Bakr. The Prophet ﷺ asked for the permission to enter and I admitted him. The Prophet ﷺ had not sat till he had entered the house and said to me; Where do you like me to pray in your house? I pointed at a place in my house whereupon he stood and said; Allahu Akbar. We lined behind him and he prayed two rakat and finished it with Taslim. We then requested him to stay for a special meal of Khazira which we had prepared. A large number of men from the adjoining area gathered in the house. One of them said; Where is Malik Bin AlDukhshun? Another man said; He is a hypocrite and does not love Allah and His Apostle. The Prophet said; Do not say so. Do you not think that he has said: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; seeking Allah pleasure? The man said; Allah and His Apostle know better; but we have always seen him mixing with hypocrites and giving them advice. The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah has forbidden the Hell Fire for those who testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah; seeking Allah pleasure. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3799		Narrated Saad Bin Malik: In the year of Hajjat AlWada the Prophet ﷺ visited me when I fell ill and was about to die because of that illness. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I am very ill as you see; and I am a rich man and have no heir except my only daughter. Shall I give 2/3 of my property in charity? He said; No. I said; Shall I then give one half of it in charity? He said; O Sad! Give 1/3 in charity and even 1/3 is too much. No doubt; it is better to leave your children rich than to leave them poor; reduced to begging from others. And Allah will reward you for whatever you spend with the intention of gaining Allah Pleasure even if it were a mouthful of food you put into your wives mouth. I said; O Allah Apostle! Am I to be left behind in Mecca after my companions have gone? He said; If you should be left behind; you will be upgraded and elevated for every deed you will do with a desire to achieve Allah Pleasure. I hope that you will live long so that some people will benefit by you while others will be harmed. O Allah! Please fulfill the migration of my companions and do not make them turn back on their heels. But we feel sorry for the unlucky Saad Bin Khaulah. Allah Messenger ﷺ lamented his death in Mecca. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4515		Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: Allah Messenger ﷺ ascended the pulpit and said; Nothing worries me as to what will happen to you after me; except the temptation of worldly blessings which will be conferred on you. Then he mentioned the worldly pleasures. He started with the one i.e. the blessings and took up the other i.e. the pleasures. A man got up saying; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Can the good bring about evil? The Prophet ﷺ remained silent and we thought that he was being inspired divinely; so all the people kept silent with awe. Then the Prophet ﷺ wiped the sweat off his face and asked; Where is the present questioner? Do you think wealth is good? he repeated thrice; adding; No doubt; good produces nothing but good. Indeed it is like what grows on the banks of a stream which either kills or nearly kills the grazing animals because of gluttony except the vegetation-eating animal which eats till both its flanks are full i.e. till it gets satisfied and then stands in the sun and defecates and urinates and again starts grazing. This worldly property is sweet vegetation. How excellent the wealth of the Muslim is; if it is collected through legal means and is spent in Allah Cause and on orphans; poor people and travelers. But he who does not take it legally is like an eater who is never satisfied and his wealth will be a witness against him on the Day of Resurrection. SahihMuslim-017-001-17957		Amir Bin Saad reported on the authority of his father Saad Bin Abi Waqqas : Allah Messenger ﷺ visited me in my illness which brought me near death in the year of Hajjat AlWada Farewell Pilgrimage. I said: Allah Messenger; you can well see the pain with which I am afflicted and I am a man possessing wealth; and there is none to inherit me except only one daughter. Should I give two-thirds of my property as Sadaqa? He said: No. I said: Should I give half of my property as Sadaqa? He said: No. He further said: Give one-third in charity and that is quite enough. To leave your heirs rich is better than to leave them poor; begging from people; that you would never incur an expense seeking therewith the pleasure of Allah; but you would be rewarded therefor; even for a morsel of food that you put in the mouth of your wife. I said: Allah Messenger. would I survive my companions? He the Holy Prophet said: If you survive them; then do such a deed by means of which you seek the pleasure of Allah; but you would increase in your status in religion and prestige; you may survive so that people would benefit from you; and others would be harmed by you. The Holy Prophet further said: Allah; complete for my Companions their migration; and not cause them to turn back upon their heels. Saad Bin Khaula is; however; unfortunate. He moved along for a few minutes; when again he said: Muadh Bin Jabal: To which I replied: At your beck and call; and at your pleasure; Messenger of Allah! He then again moved along for a few minutes and said: Muadh Bin Jabal: To which I replied. At your beck and call; and at your pleasure. Messenger of Allah He; the Holy Prophet said: Do you know what right has Allah upon His servants? I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He the Holy Prophet said: Verily the right of Allah over His servants is that they should worship Him; not associating anything with Him. He the Holy Prophet with Muadh behind him; moved along for a few minutes and said: Muadh Bin Jabal: To which I replied: At your beck and call; and at your pleasure; Messenger of Allah! He the Holy Prophet said: Do you know what rights have servants upon Allah in case they do it i. e. they worship Allah without associating anything with Him ? I Muadh Bin Jabal replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. Upon this he the Holy Prophet remarked: That He would not torment them with the fire of Hell. He again called out: Muadh; to which he again replied: At thy beck and call; and at thy pleasure. Upon this he the Holy Prophet observed: If anyone testifies sincerely from his heart that there is no god but Allah; and that Muhammad is His bondsman and His messenger; Allah immuned him from Hell. He Muadh said: Messenger of Allah; should I not then inform people of it; so that they may be of good cheer? He replied: Then they would trust in it alone. SahihMuslim-017-001-19296		Abdullah Bin Umar reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Three persons set out on a journey. They were overtaken by rain and they had to find protection in a mountain cave where at its mouth there fell a rock of that mountain and thus blocked them altogether. One of them said to the others: Look to your good deeds that you performed for the sake of Allah and then supplicate Allah; the Exalted; that He might rescue you from this trouble. One of them said: 0 Allah; I had my parents who were old and my wife and my small children also. I tended the flock and when I came back to them in the evening; I milked them the sheep; goats; cows; etc. and first served that milk to my parents. One day I was obliged to go out to a distant place in search of fodder and I could not come back before evening and found them the parents asleep. I milked the animals as I used to milk and brought milk to them and stood by their heads avoiding to disturb them from sleep and I did not deem it advisable to serve milk to my children before serving them. My children wept near my feet. I remained there in that very state and my parents too until it was morning. And 0 Allah if Thou art aware that I did this in order to seek Thine pleasure; grant us riddance from this trouble. The rock slipped a bit that they could see the sky. The second one said: 0 Allah; I had a female cousin whom I loved more than the men love the women. I wanted to have sexual intercourse with her; she refused but on the condition of getting one hundred dinirs. It was with very great difficulty that I could collect one hundred dinirs and then paid them to her and when I was going to have a sexual intercourse with her; that she said: Servant of Allah; fear Allah and do not break the seal of chastity but by lawful means. I got up. 0 Allah; if Thou art aware that I did this in order to seek Thine pleasure; rid us from this trouble. The situation was somewhat eased for them. The third one said: Allah; I employed a workman for a measure of rice. After he had finished his work I gave him his dues in the form of a measure of rice; but he did not accept them. I used these rice as seeds; and that gave a bumper crop and I became rich enough to have cows and flocks in my possession. He came to me and said: Fear Allah; and commit no crueltv upon me in regard to my dues. I said to him: Takeaway this flock of cows and sheep. He said: Fear Allah and do not make a fun of me. I said: I am not making a fun of you. You take the cows and the flocks. So he took them. 0 Allah; if Thou art aware that I did it for Thine pleasure; case the situation for us. SahihMuslim-017-001-24485		Mahmud Bin AlRabi reported that Ibn Bin Malik; who was one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and who participated in the Battle of Badr and was among the Ansar of Medina ; told that he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah; I have lost my eyesight and I lead my people in prayer. When there is a downpour there is then a current of water in the valley that stands between me and them and I find it impossible to go to their Masjid and lead them in prayer. Messenger of Allah; I earnestly beg of you that you should come and observe prayer at a place of worship in my house so that I should then use it as a place of worship. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Well; it God so wills. I would soon do so. Itban said: On the following day when the day dawned; the Messenger of Allah may peace he upon him came along with Abu Bakr at-Siddiq; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked permission to get into the house. I gave him the permission; and be did not sit after entering the house; when he said: At what place in your house you desire me to say prayer? I Itban Bin Malik said: I pointed to a corner in the house; The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood at that place for prayer and pronounced Allah-o-Akbar Allah is the Greatest as an expression for the commencement of prayer. We too stood behind him; and he said two rakahs and then pronounced salutation marking the end of the prayer. We detained him the Holy Prophet for the meat curry we had prepared for; him. The people of the neighbouring houses came and thus there was a good gathering in our house. One of them said: Where is Malik Bin Dukhshun? Upon this one of them remarked: He is a hypocrite; he does not love Allah and His Messenger. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not say so about him. Dont you see that he utters La ilaha ill-Allah There is no god but Allah and seeks the pleasure of Allah through it? They said: Allah and His Messenger know beet. One among the audience said: We see his inclination and wellwishing for hypocrites only. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ again said: Verily Allah has forbidden the Fire for one who says: There is no god but Allah; thereby seeking Allah pleasure. Ibn Shihab said: I asked Husain Bin Muhammad AlAnsar he was one of the leaders of Banu Salim about the hadith transmitted by Mahmud Bin Rabi and he testified it. So increase in remembrance of death; the severer of pleasures. For indeed there is no day that comes upon the grave except that it speaks; saying: I am thee house of the estranged; I am the house of the solitude; I am the house of dust; and I am the house of the worm-eaten. When the believing worshipper is buried; the grave says to him: Welcome; make yourself comfortable. Indeed; to me; you are the most beloved of those who walked upon me. Since you have been entrusted to me and delivered to me today; you shall see what I have arranged for you. It will then widen for him so that his sight extends; and the door to Paradise is opened for him. And when the wicked worshipper or the disbeliever is buried ; the grave says to him: You are not welcome; do not get comfortable. Indeed; to me; you are the most hated of those who walked upon me. Since you have been entrusted to me and delivered to me today; you shall see what I have arranged for you. He said: It will begin closing in on him squeezing him until his ribs are crushing each other. He said: The Messenger of Allah s.a.w clasped some of his fingers between others and said: Seventy giant serpents will constrict him; if even one of them were to hiss on the earth; nothing upon it would grow as long as it remained. They will chew on him and bite him until he is brought to the Reckoning. He said: The Messenger of Allah s.a.w said: The grave is but a garden from the gardens of Paradise; or a pit from the pits of the Fire. He looked at it; then he came back and said: By Your Glory; no one will hear of it but he will enter it. So He commanded that it be surrounded by hardships and said: Go and look at it and at what I have prepared for its people in it. He looked at it and saw that it had been surrounded with hardships. He Jibril said: By Your Glory; I fear that no one will enter it. He Allah said: Go and look at the Fire and at what I have prepared for its people in it. So he looked at it and parts of it were piled upon other parts. He came back and said: By Your Glory; no one will enter it. So He commanded that it be surrounded with pleasures and said: Go and look at it. So he looked at it and saw that it was surrounded with pleasures. He came back and said: By Your Glory; I fear that no one will be saved from it and all will enter it. MuwataMalik-017-001-35125		And Malik related to me that he had heard that a man came to Abdullah Ibn Umar and said; Abu Abdulrahman I gave a man a loan and stipulated that he give me better than what I lent him. Abdullah Ibn Umar said; That is usury. Abdullah said; Loans are of three types: A free loan which you lend by which you desire the pleasure of Allah; and so you have the pleasure of Allah. A free loan which you lend by which you desire the pleasure of your companion; so you have the pleasure of your companion; and a free loan which you lend by which you take what is impure by what is pure; and that is usury. He said; What do you order me to do; Abu Abdulrahman He said; I think that you should tear up the agreement. If he gives you the like of what you lent him; accept it. If he gives you less than what you lent him; take it and you will be rewarded. If he gives you better than what you lent him; of his own good will; that is his gratitude to you and you have the wage of the period you gave him the loan.
