SunanAlTermithi-017-001-8012Abu Bakr Bin AlJahm narrated: Abu Salamah Bin Abdulrahman and I visited Fatimah bint Qais. She narrated to us that her husband had divorced her three times; and he did not leave her with anywhere to live nor any wealth. She said: He left ten Aqfizah for me with the son of his uncle: five were of barley; five of wheat. She said: I went to the Messenger of Allah and mentioned that to him. She said: He said: He is correct. She said: So he ordered me to complete my Iddah in the home of Umm Sharik. But then the Messenger of Allah said to me: Umm Sharik home is visited by Muhajirun; so spend your Iddah in the home of Ibn Umm Maktum; for there you can remove your garments and he will not see you. Then when your Iddah is completed and someone proposed to you come to me. So when my Iddah completed. Abu Jahm and Muawiyah proposed to me. She said: I went to the Messenger of Allah and mentioned that to him; and he said: As for Muawiyah; he is a man with no wealth; and as for Abu Jahm he is a man who is harsh with women. She said: Then Usamah Bin Zaid proposed to me; and he married me. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-8034Muhammad Bin Abi Harmalah narrated: Kuraib informed me that Umm AlFadl Bin AlHarith sent him to Muawiyah in AlSham. He said: So I arrived in AlSham and finished her errand; and I saw the crescent of Ramadan while I was in AlSham. We saw the crescent on the night of Friday. Then I arrived in AlMadinah at the end of the month. Ibn Abbas was questioning me; then he mentioned the crescent and he said: When did you see the crescent? I said: We saw it n the night of Friday. He said: Did you see it on the night of Friday? I said: The people saw it; so they fasted; and Muawiyah fasted. SunanAlNasai-017-001-13102Muslim Bin Yasar and Abdullah Bin Ubaid said: Ubadah Bin AlSamit and Muawiyah met at a stopping place on the road. Ubadah said: The Messenger of Allah forbade us to sell gold for gold; silver for silver; wheat for wheat; barley for barley; dates for dates - one of them said: salt for salt; but the other did not say unless it was equal amount for equal amount; like for like. One of them said: Whoever gives more or takes more has engaged in Riba; but the other one did not say it. And the commanded us to sell gold for silver and silver for gold; and wheat for barley and barley for wheat; hand to hand; however we wanted. Then Marwan wrote saying that to me Usaid. I wrote to Marwan saying that the Prophet had ruled that if the one who bought it from the one who stole it is ot guilty of anything and did not realize that it was stolen goods ; then the owner has the choice: If he wishes; he may buy it from the one who bought it from the thief; or if he wishes he may go after the thief. Muawiyah said to him: Why are you weeping? Is it because of some pain that is hurting you; or is it for this world; the best of which has gone? SunanAlNasai-017-001-14449It was narrated from Muhammad Bin Abdulrahman Bin Thawban that they asked Fatimah bint Qais about her story and she said: My husband divorced me three times; and he used to provide me with food that was not good. She said: By Allah; if I were entitled to maintenance and accommodation I would demand them and I would not accept this. The deputy said: You are not entitled to accommodation or maintenance. She said: I came to the Prophet and told him about that; and he said: You are not entitled to accommodation nor maintenance; observe your Iddah in the house of so-and-so. She said: His Companions used to go to her. Then he said: Observe your Iddah in the house of Ibn Umm Maktum; who is blind; and when your Iddah is over; let me know. She said: When my Iddah was over; I let him know. The Messenger of Allah said: Who has proposed marriage to you? I said: Muawiyah and another man from the Quraish. He said: As for Muawiyah; he is a boy among the Quraish and does not have anything; and as for the other he is a bad man with no goodness in him. Rather you should marry Usamah Bin Zaid. She said: I did not like the idea. Abdullah Bin Abbas asked me about the sighting of the moon and said: When did you see it? I said: We saw it on the night of Friday. He said; You saw it on the ninth of Friday? I said: Yes; and the people saw it and started fasting; and so did Muawiyah. She was displeased with it. He said I swear by Allah; you have no claim on us. She then came to Apostle of Allah ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said to her No maintenance is due to you from him. He ordered her to spend the waiting period in the house of Umm Sharik but he said afterwards that is a woman whom my Companions visit. Spend the waiting period in the house of Ibn Umm Maktum for he is blind and you can undress. Then when you are in a position of being remarried; tell me. She said When I was in a position to remarry; I mentioned to him that Muawiyah Bin Abi Sufyan and Abu Jahm had asked me in marriage. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said As for Abu Jahm; he does not put down his stick from his shoulder; and as for Muawiyah he is a poor man who has no property; marry Usamah Bin Zaid. I disliked him but he said Marry Usamah Bin Zaid. So; I married him. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25225Narrated Sahl Ibn Hanzaliyah: Uyaynah Ibn Housn and Aqra Ibn Habis came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They begged from him. He commanded to give them what they begged. He ordered Muawiyah to write a document to give what they begged. Aqra took his document; wrapped it in his turban; and went away. As for Uyaynah; he took his document and came to the Prophet ﷺ at his home; and said to him: Muhammad; do you see me? I am taking a document to my people; but I do not know what it contains; just like the document of AlMutalammis. Muawiyah informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of his statement. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who begs from people when he has sufficient is simply asking for a large amount of Hell-fire. AlNufayl a transmitter said elsewhere: embers of Hell. They asked: Messenger of Allah; what is a sufficiency? Elsewhere AlNufayl said: What is a sufficiency which makes begging unfitting? He replied: It is that which would provide a morning and an evening meal. Elsewhere AlNufayl said: It is when one has enough for a day and night; or for a night and a day. Muawiyah said to AlMiqdam: Do you know that AlHasan Ibn Ali has died? AlMiqdam recited the Quranic verse We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. A man asked him: Do you think it a calamity? He replied: Why should I not consider it a calamity when it is a fact that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to take him on his lap; saying: This belongs to me and Husayn belongs to Ali? The man of Banu Asad said: He was a live coal which Allah has extinguished. AlMiqdam said: Today I shall continue to make you angry and make you hear what you dislike. He then said: Muawiyah; if I speak the truth; declare me true; and if I tell a lie; declare me false. He said: Do so. He said: I adjure you by Allah; did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding use to wear gold? He replied: Yes. He said: I adjure you by Allah; do you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the wearing of silk? He replied: Yes. He said: I adjure you by Allah; do you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the wearing of the skins of beasts of prey and riding on them? He said: Yes. He said: I swear by Allah; I saw all this in your house; O Muawiyah. Muawiyah said: I know that I cannot be saved from you; O Miqdam. Khalid said: Muawiyah then ordered to give him what he did not order to give to his two companions; and gave a stipend of two hundred dirhams to his son. AlMiqdam then divided it among his companions; and the man of Banu Asad did not give anything to anyone from the property he received. When Muawiyah was informed about it; he said: AlMiqdam is a generous man; he has an open hand for generosity. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When one has covenant with people he must not strengthen or loosen it till its term comes to an end or he brings it to an end in agreement with them to make both the parties equal.
