As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3277		Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ ordered me to guard the Zakat revenue of Ramadan. Then somebody came to me and started stealing from the foodstuff. Then Abu Huraira described the whole narration and said: That person said to me ; Please dont take me to Allah Messenger ﷺ and I will tell you a few words by which Allah will benefit you. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3962		Narrated AlBara Bin Azib: Abu Bakr came to my father who was at home and purchased a saddle from him. He said to Azib. Tell your son to carry it with me. So I carried it with him and my father followed us so as to take the price of the saddle. My father said; O Abu Bakr! Tell me what happened to you on your night journey with Allah Messenger ﷺ during Migration. He said; Yes; we travelled the whole night and also the next day till midday. when nobody could be seen on the way because of the severe heat. Then there appeared a long rock having shade beneath it; and the sunshine had not come to it yet. So we dismounted there and I levelled a place and covered it with an animal hide or dry grass for the Prophet ﷺ to sleep on for a while. I then said; Sleep; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and I will guard you. So he slept and I went out to guard him. Suddenly I saw a shepherd coming with his sheep to that rock with the same intention we had when we came to it. I asked him. To whom do you belong; O boy? He replied; I belong to a man from Medina or Mecca. I said; Do your sheep have milk? He said; Yes. I said; Will you milk for us? He said; Yes. He caught hold of a sheep and I asked him to clean its teat from dust; hairs and dirt. The sub-narrator said that he saw AlBara striking one of his hands with the other; demonstrating how the shepherd removed the dust. The shepherd milked a little milk in a wooden container and I had a leather container which I carried for the Prophet ﷺ to drink and perform the ablution from. I went to the Prophet; hating to wake him up; but when I reached there; the Prophet ﷺ had already awakened; so I poured water over the middle part of the milk container; till the milk was cold. Then I said; Drink; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He drank till I was pleased. Then he asked; Has the time for our departure come? I said; Yes. So we departed after midday. Suraqa Bin Malik followed us and I said; We have been discovered; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; Dont grieve for Allah is with us. The Prophet ﷺ invoked evil on him i.e. Suraqa and so the legs of his horse sank into the earth up to its belly. The subnarrator; Zuhair is not sure whether Abu Bakr said; It sank into solid earth. Suraqa said; I see that you have invoked evil on me. Please invoke good on me; and by Allah; I will cause those who are seeking after you to return. The Prophet ﷺ invoked good on him and he was saved. Then; whenever he met somebody on the way; he would say; I have looked for him here in vain. So he caused whomever he met to return. The cow said; We have not been created for this; but we have been created for sloughing. On that the people said astonishingly; Glorified be Allah! A cow speaks! The man chased the wolf till he saved it from the wolf; where upon the wolf said; You have saved it from me; but who will guard it on the day of the wild beasts when there will be no shepherd to guard them except me because of riots and afflictions ? The people said surprisingly; Glorified be Allah! A wolf speaks! The Prophet ﷺ said; But I believe this; and Abu Bakr and Umar too; believe this; although neither of them was present there. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-427		Narrated Ibn Abbas: Once the Prophet ﷺ led the fear prayer and the people stood behind him. He said Takbir Allahu-Akbar and the people said the same. He bowed and some of them bowed. Then he prostrated and they also prostrated. Then he stood for the second raka and those who had prayed the first raka left and guarded their brothers. Then he bowed; and some of them bowed; then he prostrated and they prostrated; then he stood for the second rakah and those who had prostrated with him moved back and guarded their brothers; and the other group came and bowed and prostrated with the Prophet ﷺ. The idolaters were led that day by Khalid Bin AlWalid; and the idolaters said: We have caught them unawares. Then the fear prayer was revealed between Zuhr and Asr. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in praying Asr and divided us into two groups; a group that prayed with the Prophet ﷺ and a group that guarded him. He said takbir with those who were closest to him and those who were guarding them; then he bowed and both groups bowed with him. Then those who were closest to him prostrated. Then they moved back and the others moved forward and prostrated. Then he stood and led them all in bowing; those who were closest to him and those who were guarding him. Then he led those who were closest to him in prostrating; then they moved back and took the place of their companions and the others came forward and prostrated. Then he said the taslim so each group had prayed two rakahs with their imam. And he offered the fear prayer once in the land of Banu Sulaym. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25372		Narrated Abu Ayash AlZuraqi: We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Usfan; and Khalid Ibn AlWalid was the chief of unbelievers. We offered the noon prayer. Thereupon; the unbelievers said: We suffered from negligence; we became careless. We should have attacked them while they were praying. Thereupon the verse was revealed; relating to the shortening of the prayer in time of danger between the noon and afternoon prayer. When the time of the afternoon prayer came; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood facing the qiblah; and the unbelievers were standing in front of him. The people stood in a row behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and there was another row behind this row. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ bowed and all of them bowed. He then prostrated and also the row near him prostrated. The other people in the second row remained standing and stood guard over them. When they performed two prostrations and stood up; those who were behind them prostrated. The people in the front row near him then stepped backward taking the place of the people in the second row and the second row took the place of the first row. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then bowed and all of them bowed together. Then he and the row near him prostrated themselves. The other people in the second row remained standing and stood guard over them. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the row near him i.e. the front row were seated; the people in the second row behind them prostrated themselves. Then all of them were seated. He the Prophet then uttered the salutation upon all of them. He prayed in his manner at Usfan as well as at the territory of Banu Sulaym.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by Ayoub and Hisham from Abu AlZubair on the authority of Jabir to the same effect from the Prophet ﷺ. Similarly; this has been transmitted by Dawud Bin Husain from Ikrimah; on the authority of Ibn Abbas. This has also been reported by Abd AlMalik; from Ata from Jabir in like manner. This has also been narrated by Qatadah from AlHasan from Hittan on the authority of Abu Mousa in a similar way. Similarly; this has been reported by Ikrimah Bin Khalid from Mujahid from the Prophet ﷺ. This has also been reported by Hisham Bin Urwah from his father from the Prophet ﷺ. It was addressed from Hatib Bin Abi Baltaah to some of the polytheists in Makkah giving them some information about the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ. He asked What is this; Hatib? He replied; Apostle of Allaah ﷺ do not be hasty with me. I have been a man attached as an ally to the Quraish and am not one of them while those of the Quraish i.e. the emigrants have relationship with them by which they guarded their family in Makkah. As I did not have that advantage I wanted to give them some help for which they might guard my relations. I swear by Allaah I am not guilty of unbelief or apostasy from my religion. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said he has told you the truth. Umar said Let me cut off this hypocrites head. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said He was present at Badr and what do you know; perhaps Allaah might look with pity on those who were present at Badr? And said Do what you wish; I have forgiven you.
