Garden In Sahih AlBukhari

Hadith PageArabic TextEnglish TranslationBook and Chapter
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1466Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Between my house and my pulpit there is a garden from one of the gardens of Paradise; and my pulpit is over my Lake-Tank. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1485Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Horses may be used for three purposes: For a man they may be a source of reward in the Hereafter ; for another; a means of protection; and for another; a source of sin. The man for whom they are a source of reward; is the one who keeps them for Allah Cause and ties them with long ropes and lets them graze in a pasture or garden. Whatever those long ropes allow them to eat of that pasture or garden; will be written as good deeds for him and if they break their ropes and run one or two rounds; then all their footsteps and dung will be written as good deeds for him; and if they pass a river and drink from it though he has had no intention of watering them; even then; that will be written as good deeds for him. So such horses are a source of reward for that man. For the man who keeps horses for his livelihood in order not to ask others for help or beg his bread; and at the same time he does not forget Allah right of what he earns through them and of their backs that he presents it to be used in Allah Cause ; such horses are a shelter for him from poverty. For the man who keeps them just out of pride and for showing off; they are a source of sin. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ was asked about donkeys. He said; Allah has not revealed anything to me regarding them except this comprehensive Verse: Then anyone who has done good; equal to the weight of an atom or a small ant shall see it; and any one who has done evil; equal to the weight of an atom or a small ant shall see it. 99.7-8The Chapter on Jihad Manners in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The laws inferred from certain evidences and the meaning of an evidence in Sahih AlBukhari

Allah says: By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you spend of that which you love; and the dearest of my property to me is the Bairuha garden and I want to give it in charity in Allah Cause; seeking to be rewarded by Allah for that. So you can spend it; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; where-ever Allah instructs you. Allah s Apostle said; Good! That is a perishable or profitable wealth Abdullah is in doubt as to which word was used. He said; I have heard what you have said but in my opinion youd better give it to your kith and kin. On that Abu Talha said; I will do so; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The Prophet ﷺ said; You have been confused as to this matter. Allah Messenger ﷺ added; I have kept something for you in my mind. Ibn saiyad said; AlDukh. The Prophet ﷺ said; Ikhsa you should be ashamed for you can not cross your limits. Umar said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Allow me to chop off h is neck. Allah Apostle said to Umar. Should this person be him i.e. AlDajjal then you cannot over-power him; and should he be someone else; then it will be no use your killing him. Abdullah Bin Umar added: Later on Allah Messenger ﷺ and Ubai Bin Kaab AlAnsari once again went to the garden in which Ibn saiyad was present. That year the land was not promising; so the payment of the debt was delayed one year. The Jew came to me at the time of plucking; but gathered nothing from my land. I asked him to give me one year respite; but he refused. This news reached the Prophet ﷺ whereupon he said to his companions; Let us go and ask the Jew for respite for Jabir. All of them came to me in my garden; and the Prophet ﷺ started speaking to the Jew; but he Jew said; O Abu Qasim! I will not grant him respite. When the Prophet ﷺ saw the Jew attitude; he stood up and walked all around the garden and came again and talked to the Jew; but the Jew refused his request. I got up and brought some ripe fresh dates and put it in front of the Prophet. He ate and then said to me; Where is your hut; O Jabir? I informed him; and he said; Spread out a bed for me in it. I spread out a bed; and he entered and slept. When he woke up; I brought some dates to him again and he ate of it and then got up and talked to the Jew again; but the Jew again refused his request. Then the Prophet ﷺ got up for the second time amidst the palm trees loaded with fresh dates; and said; O Jabir! Pluck dates to repay your debt. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3774Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived at Medina with Abu Bakr; riding behind him on the same camel. Abu Bakr was an elderly man known to the people; while Allah Messenger ﷺ was a youth that was unknown. Thus; if a man met Abu Bakr; he would say; O Abu Bakr! Who is this man in front of you? Abu Bakr would say; This man shows me the Way; One would think that Abu Bakr meant the road; while in fact; Abu Bakr meant the way of virtue and good. Then Abu Bakr looked behind and saw a horse-rider pursuing them. He said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This is a horse-rider pursuing us. The Prophet ﷺ looked behind and said; O Allah! Cause him to fall down. So the horse threw him down and got up neighing. After that the rider; Suraqa said; O Allah Prophet! Order me whatever you want. The Prophet said; Stay where you are and do not allow anybody to reach us. So; in the first part of the day Suraqa was an enemy of Allah Prophet and in the last part of it; he was a protector. Then Allah Apostle alighted by the side of the AlHarra and sent a message to the Ansar; and they came to Allah Prophet and Abu Bakr; and having greeted them; they said; Ride your camels safe and obeyed. Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr rode and the Ansar; carrying their arms; surrounded them. The news that Allah Prophet had come circulated in Medina. The people came out and were eagerly looking and saying Allah Prophet has come! Allah Prophet has come! So the Prophet ﷺ went on till he alighted near the house of Abu Ayoub. While the Prophet ﷺ was speaking with the family members of Abu Ayoub ; Abdullah Bin Salam heard the news of his arrival while he himself was picking the dates for his family from his family garden. He hurried to the Prophet ﷺ carrying the dates which he had collected for his family from the garden. He listened to Allah Prophet and then went home. Then Allah Prophet said; Which is the nearest of the houses of our kith and kin? Abu Ayoub replied; Mine; O Allah Prophet! This is my house and this is my gate. The Prophet ﷺ said; Go and prepare a place for our midday rest. Abu Ayoub said; Get up both of you with Allah Blessings. So when Allah Prophet went into the house; Abdullah Bin Salam came and said I testify that you i.e. Muhammad are Apostle of Allah and that you have come with the Truth. The Jews know well that I am their chief and the son of their chief and the most learned amongst them and the son of the most learned amongst them. So send for them i.e. Jews and ask them about me before they know that I have embraced Islam; for if they know that they will say about me things which are not correct. So Allah Messenger ﷺ sent for them; and they came and entered. Allah Messenger ﷺ said to them; O the group of Jews! Woe to you: be afraid of Allah. By Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped; you people know for certain; that I am Apostle of Allah and that I have come to you with the Truth; so embrace Islam. The Jews replied; We do not know this. So they said this to the Prophet and he repeated it thrice. Then he said; What sort of a man is Abdullah Bin Salam amongst you? They said; He is our chief and the son of our chief and the most learned man; and the son of the most learned amongst us. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; O Ibn Salam! Come out to them. He came out and said; O the group of Jews! Then he sent for the chiefs of Bani AlNajjar; and they came; carrying their swords. As if I am just now looking at Allah Messenger ﷺ on his camel with Abu Bakr riding behind him on the same camel and the chiefs of Bani AlNajjar around him till he dismounted in the courtyard of Abu Ayoub home. The Prophet ﷺ used to offer the prayer wherever the prayer was due; and he would pray even in sheepfolds. Then he ordered that the Masjid be built. He sent for the chiefs of Banu AlNajjar; and when they came; he said; O Banu AlNajjar! Suggest to me the price of this garden of yours. They replied No! By Allah; we do not demand its price except from Allah. In that garden there were the following things that I will tell you: Graves of pagans; unleveled land with holes and pits etc.; and date-palm trees. Allah Messenger ﷺ ordered that the graves of the pagans be dug up and; the unleveled land be leveled and the date-palm trees be cut down. The trunks of the trees were arranged so as to form the wall facing the Qibla. The Stone pillars were built at the sides of its gate. The one for whom they are a source of reward; is he who keeps a horse for Allah Cause i.e. Jihad tying it with a long tether on a meadow or in a garden with the result that whatever it eats from the area of the meadow or the garden where it is tied will be counted as good deeds for his benefit; and if it should break its rope and jump over one or two hillocks then all its dung and its foot marks will be written as good deeds for him; and if it passes by a river and drinks water from it even though he had no intention of watering it; even then he will get the reward for its drinking. SahihMuslim-017-001-17657Jabir Allah be pleased with him reported that a woman gave her garden as a life grant to her son. He died and later on she also died and left a son behind and brothers also; The sons of the woman making life grant said to those who had been conferred upon this Umra : This garden has returned to us. The sons of the one who had been given life grant said: This belonged to our father; during his lifetime and in case of his death. They took their dispute to Tariq; the freed slave of Uthman. He called Jabir and he gave testimony of Allah Messenger ﷺ having said: Life grant belongs to one who is conferred upon this privilege. Tariq gave this decision and then wrote to Abd AlMalik and informed him; Jabir bearing witness to it. Abd AlMalik said: Jabir has told the truth. Then Tariq gave a decree and; as a result thereof; it is to this day that the garden belongs to descendants of one who was conferred upon the life grant. The Chapter on Life And Death And Granting Life in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 4 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18436It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira: We were sitting around the Messenger of Allah may peace and blessings be upon him. Abu Bakr and Umar were also there among the audience. In the meanwhile the Messenger of Allah got up and left us; He delayed in coming back to us; which caused anxiety that he might be attacked by some enemy when we were not with him; so being alarmed we got up. I was the first to be alarmed. I; therefore; went out to look for the Messenger of Allah may peace and blessings be upon him and came to a garden belonging to the Banu AlNajjar; a section of the Ansar went round it looking for a gate but failed to find one. Seeing a rabi i. e. streamlet flowing into the garden from a well outside; drew myself together; like a fox; and slinked into the place where God Messenger was. He the Holy Prophet said: Is it Abu Huraira? I Abu Huraira replied: Yes; Messenger of Allah. He the Holy Prophet said: What is the matter with you? replied: You were amongst us but got up and went away and delayed for a time; so fearing that you might be attacked by some enemy when we were not with you; we became alarmed. I was the first to be alarmed. So when I came to this garden; I drew myself together as a fox does; and these people are following me. He addressed me as Abu Huraira and gave me his sandals and said: Take away these sandals of mine; and when you meet anyone outside this garden who testifies that there is no god but Allah; being assured of it in his heart; gladden him by announcing that he shall go to Paradise. Now the first one I met was Umar. He asked: What are these sandals; Abu Huraira? I replied: These are the sandals of the Messenger of Allah with which he has sent me to gladden anyone I meet who testifies that there is no god but Allah; being assured of it in his heart; with the announcement that he would go to Paradise. Thereupon Umar struck me on the breast and I fell on my back. He then said: Go back; Abu Huraira; So I returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and was about to break into tears. Umar followed me closely and there he was behind me. The Messenger of Allah may peace and blessings be on him said: What is the matter with you; Abu Huraira? I said: I happened to meet Umar and conveyed to him the message with which you sent me. He struck me on my breast which made me fall down upon my back and ordered me to go back. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What prompted you to do this; Umar? He said: Messenger of Allah; my mother and father be sacrificed to thee; did you send Abu Huraira with your sandals to gladden anyone he met and who testified that there is no god but Allah; and being assured of it in his heart; with the tidings that he would go to Paradise? He said: Yes. Umar said: Please do it not; for I am afraid that people will trust in it alone; let them go on doing good deeds. Allah Apostle ﷺ said. Make an assessment of the price of its fruit. And Allah Messenger ﷺ also made an assessment and it was ten wasqs. So we proceeded on until we came to Tabuk and Allah Messenger ﷺ said: The violent storm will overtake you during the night; so none amongst you should stand up and he who has a camel with him should hobble it firmly. A violent storm blew and a person who had stood up was carried away by the storm and thrown between the mountains of Tay. Then the messenger of the son of AlAlma; the ruler of Aila; came to Allah Messenger ﷺ with a letter and a gift of a white mule. Allah Messenger ﷺ wrote him the reply and presented him a cloak. We came back until we halted in the Wadi AlQura. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked that lady about her garden and the price of the fruits in that. She said: Ten wasqs. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: I am going to depart; and he who amongst you wishes may depart with me but he who wants to stay may stay. We resumed the journey until we came to the outskirts of Medina. It was at this time that Allah Messenger ﷺ said: This is Taba; this is Uhud; that is a mountain which loves us and we love it; and then said: The best amongst the houses of the Ansar is the house of Bani Najjar. Then the house of Bani Abd AlAshhal; then the house of Bani Abd AlHarith Bin Khazraj; then the house of Bani Saida; and there is goodness in all the houses of the Ansar. A man said; Messenger of Allah; do not tell us! The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was silent. Then the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; repeated what he had said the first time. The man said to him; Do not tell us; Messenger of Allah! The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was silent. Then the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said the same thing again. The man said; Do not tell us; Messenger of Allah! Then the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said the same thing again. Then the man began to say what he had said previously and a man at his side silenced him. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Whomever Allah protects from the evil of two things will enter the Garden. MuwataMalik-017-001-34665Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Abi Unaysa that Abd AlHamid Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Zayd Ibn AlKhattab informed him from Muslim Ibn Yasar AlJuhani that Umar Ibn AlKhattab was asked about this ayat - When your Lord took their progeny from the Banu Adam from their backs and made them testify against themselves. Am I not your Lord? They said; Yes; we bear witness Lest you should say on the Day of Rising; We were heedless of that. Surat 7 ayat 172 Umar Ibn AlKhattab said; I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; being asked about it. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; created Adam. Then He stroked his back with His right hand; and progeny issued from it. He said; I created these for the Garden and they will act with the behaviour of the people of the Garden. Then He stroked his back again and brought forth progeny from him. He said; I created these for the Fire and they will act with the behaviour of the people of the Fire. A man said; Messenger of Allah! Then of what value are deeds? The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; answered; When Allah creates a slave for the Garden; he makes him use the behaviour of the people of the Garden; so that he dies on one of the actions of the people of the Garden and by it He brings him into the Garden. When He creates a slave for the Fire; He makes him use the behaviour of the people of the Fire; so that he dies on one of the actions of the people of the Fire; and by it; He brings him into the Fire. The Chapter on Good Deeds To Save Oneself From Hell Fire in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Purity in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34915Yahya said; I heard Malik say that if a man pledges his garden for a stated period and the fruits of that garden are ready before the end of that period; the fruits are not included in the pledge with the real estate; unless it is stipulated by the pledger in his pledge. However; if a man receives a slave-girl as a pledge and she is pregnant or she becomes pregnant after his taking her as a pledge; her child is included with her. A distinction is made between the fruit and the child of the slave-girl. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; If someone sells a palm which has been pollinated; the fruit belongs to the seller unless the buyer stipulates its inclusion. The undisputed way of doing things in our community is that if a man sells a slave-girl or an animal with a foetus in its womb; the foetus belongs to the buyer; whether or not the buyer stipulates it. The palm is not like the animal. Fruit is not like the foetus in its mother womb. Part of what clarifies that is also that it is the usage of people to have a man pawn the fruit of the palm apart from the palm. No one pawns the foetus in its mother womb whether of slaves or animals. The Chapter on Agriculture And Selling Of Fruits in HodHood Indexing, The Book of The Evil Eye in Muwata Malik
