SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6700		Narrated Bukair: That Kuraib; the freed slave of Ibn Abbas told him that Ibn Abbas; Abdulrahman Bin Azhar and AlMiswar Bin Makhrama sent him to Aisha saying; Pay her our greetings and ask her about our offering of the two-rakat after Asr Prayer; and tell her that we have been informed that you offer these two rakat while we have heard that the Prophet ﷺ had forbidden their offering. Ibn Abbas said; I and Umar used to beat the people for their offering them. Kuraib added; I entered upon her and delivered their message to her. She said; Ask Um Salama. So; I informed them of Aisha answer and they sent me to Umm Salamah for the same purpose as they sent me to Aisha. Umm Salamah replied; I heard the Prophet ﷺ forbidding the offering of these two rakat. Once the Prophet ﷺ offered the Asr prayer; and then came to me. And at that time some Ansari women from the Tribe of Banu Haram were with me. Then the Prophet ﷺ offered those two rakat; and I sent my lady servant to him; saying; Stand beside him and say to him : Umm Salamah says; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Didnt I hear you forbidding the offering of these two rakat after the Asr prayer yet I see you offering them? And if he beckons to you with his hand; then wait behind. So the lady slave did that and the Prophet ﷺ beckoned her with his hand; and she stayed behind; and when the Prophet ﷺ finished his prayer; he said; O the daughter of Abu Umaiya i.e. Umm Salamah ; You were asking me about these two rakat after the Asr prayer. In fact; some people from the tribe of Abdul Qais came to me to embrace Islam and busied me so much that I did not offer the two rakat which were offered after Zuhr compulsory prayer; and these two rakat you have seen me offering make up for those. SahihMuslim-017-001-21807		Abdullah Bin Abbas reported that his son died in Qudaid or Usfan. He said to Kuraib to see as to how many people had gathered there for his funeral. He Kuraib said: So I went out and I informed him about the people who had gathered there. He Ibn Abbas said: Do you think they are forty? He Kuraib said: Yes. Ibn Abbas then said to them: Bring him the dead body out for I have heard Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: If any Muslim dies and forty men who associate nothing with Allah stand over his prayer they offer prayer over him ; Allah will accept them as intercessors for him. SahihMuslim-017-001-22164		Kuraib reported that Umm Fadl; daughter of Harith; sent him Fadl; i.e. her son to Muawiya in Syria. I Fadl arrived in Syria; and did the needful for her. It was there in Syria that the month of Ramadan commenced. I saw the new moon of Ramadan on Friday. I then came back to Medina at the end of the month. Abdullah Bin Abbas Allah be pleased with him asked me about the new moon of Ramadan and said: When did you see it? I said: We saw it on the night of Friday. He said: Did you see it yourself? I said: Yes; and the people also saw it and they fasted and Muawiya also fasted; whereupon he said: But we saw it on Saturday night. So we will continue to fast till we complete thirty fasts or we see it the new moon of Shawal. I said: Is the sighting of the moon by Muawiya not valid for you? He said: No; this is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has commanded us. Yahya Bin Yahya was in doubt whether the word used in the narration by Kuraib was Naktafi or Taktafi. SahihMuslim-017-001-23856		Kuraib reported that Ibn Abbas spent a night in the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood near the water-skin and poured water out of it and performed ablution in which he neither used excess of water nor too little of it; and the rest of the hadith is the same; and in this mention is also made of the fact that on that night the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made supplication before Allah in nineteen words. Kuraib reported: I remember twelve words out of these; but have forgotten the rest. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Place light in my heart; light in my tongue; light in my hearing; light in my sight; light above me; light below me; light on my right; light on my left; light in front of me; light behind me; place light in my soul; and make light abundant for me. SahihMuslim-017-001-23992		Kuraib; the freed slave of Ibn Abbas; reported that Abdullah Bin Abbas; Abdulrahman Bin Azhar; AlMiswar Bin Makhrama sent him to Aisha; the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; telling him to give her their greetings; and ask her about the two rakahs after the afternoon prayer; for we have heard that you observe them whereas it has been conveyed to us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited their observance. Ibn Abbas said: I along with Umar Bin AlKhattab dissuaded people to do so to observe two rakahs of prayer. Kuraib said: I went to her Aisha and conveyed to her the message with which I was sent. She said: Better ask Umm Salama. So I went to them those who had sent him to Hadrat Aisha and informed them about what she had said. They sent me back to Umm Salamah with that with which I was sent to Aisha. Umm Salamah said: I beard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibiting them; and then afterwards I saw him observing them. And when he observed them two rakahs he had already observed the Asr prayer. Then he the Holy Prophet came; while there were with me ladies of Banu Haram; a tribe of the Ansar and he the Holy Prophet observed them the two rakahs. I sent a slave-girl to him asking her to stand by his side and say to him that Umm Salamah says: Messenger of Allah; I heard you prohibiting these two rakahs; whereas I saw you observing them; and if he the Holy Prophet points with his hand to wait ; then do wait. The slave-girl did like that. He the Holy Prophet pointed out with his hand and she got Aasi de and waited; and when he had finished the prayer he said: Daughter of Abu Umaya. you have asked about the two rakahs after the Asr prayer. Some people of Abu AlQais came to me for embracing Islam and hindered me from observing the two rakahs which come after the noon prayer. So those are the two I have been praying.
