I said; Allah and His Apostle know best. He stood up again and performed a long Qiyam but this time the period of standing was shorter than the first. He bowed again for a long time but shorter than the first one; then he prostrated and prolonged the prostration. He did the same in the second raka as he did in the first and then finished the prayer; by then the sun eclipse had cleared. He delivered the Khutba sermon and after praising and glorifying Allah he said; The sun and the moon are two signs against the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse on the death or life of anyone. So when you see the eclipse; remember Allah and say Takbir; pray and give Sadaqa. The Prophet then said; O followers of Muhammad! By Allah! There is none who has more ghaira selfrespect than Allah as He has forbidden that His slaves; male or female commit adultery illegal sexual intercourse. O followers of Muhammad! By Allah! If you knew that which I know you would laugh little and weep much. The Chapter on Prostration And Eclipse Of The Sun in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To give Sadaqa during the eclipse in Sahih AlBukhari

He said the Takbir starting the prayer and prolonged the recitation from the Quran and then said Takbir and performed a prolonged bowing; then he lifted his head and said; Sami allahu liman hamidah Allah heard him who sent his praises to Him. He then did not prostrate but stood up and recited a prolonged recitation which was shorter than the first recitation. O our Sustainer! All the praises are for You and then prostrated and did the same in the second raka; thus he completed four bowing and four prostrations. The sun eclipse had cleared before he finished the prayer. After the prayer he stood up; glorified and praised Allah as He deserved and then said; The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of the death or the life i.e. birth of someone. When you see them make haste for the prayer. We saw you taking something from your place and then we saw you retreating. The Prophet ﷺ replied; I saw Paradise and stretched my hands towards a bunch of its fruits and had I taken it; you would have eaten from it as long as the world remains. I also saw the Hell-fire and I had never seen such a horrible sight. I saw that most of the inhabitants were women. The people asked; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Why is it so? The Prophet ﷺ replied; Because of their ungratefulness. It was asked whether they are ungrateful to Allah. Allah Messenger ﷺ offered the prayer of the eclipse and so did the people along with him. He performed a long Qiyam standing posture during which Surat AlBaqara could have been recited; then he performed a pro-longed bowing; then raised his head and stood for a long time which was slightly less than that of the first Qiyam and recited Quran. Then he performed a prolonged bowing again but the period was shorter than the period of the first bowing; then he stood up and then prostrated. Again he stood up; but this time the period of standing was less than the first standing. Then he performed a prolonged bowing but of a lesser duration than the first; then he stood up again for a long time but for a lesser duration than the first. Then he performed a prolonged bowing but of lesser duration than the first; and then he again stood up; and then prostrated and then finished his prayer. By then the sun eclipse had cleared. The Prophet ﷺ then said; The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah; and they do not eclipse because of the death or birth of someone; so when you observe the eclipse; remember Allah offer the eclipse prayer. They the people said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We saw you stretching your hand to take something at this place of yours; then we saw you stepping backward. He said; I saw Paradise or Paradise was shown to me ; and I stretched my hand to pluck a bunch of grapes ; and had I plucked it; you would have eaten of it as long as this world exists. Then I saw the Hell Fire; and I have never before; seen such a horrible sight as that; and I saw that the majority of its dwellers were women. The people asked; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! What is the reason for that? He replied; Because of their ungratefulness. It was said. Do they disbelieve in Allah are they ungrateful to Allah ? He replied; They are not thankful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors done to them. Even if you do good to one of them all your life; when she seems some harshness from you; she will say; I have never seen any good from you.The Chapter on Prostration And Eclipse Of The Sun in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To be unthankful to the husband in Sahih AlBukhari

So; the prophet carried out the expedition and when he reached that town at the time or nearly at the time of the Asr prayer; he said to the sun; O sun! You are under Allah Order and I am under Allah Order O Allah! Stop it i.e. the sun from setting. It was stopped till Allah made him victorious. Then he collected the booty and the fire came to burn it; but it did not burn it. He said to his men ; Some of you have stolen something from the booty. So one man from every tribe should give me a pledge of allegiance by shaking hands with me. They did so and the hand of a man got stuck over the hand of their prophet. Then that prophet said to the man ; The theft has been committed by your people. So all the persons of your tribe should give me the pledge of allegiance by shaking hands with me. The hands of two or three men got stuck over the hand of their prophet and he said; You have committed the theft. Then they brought a head of gold like the head of a cow and put it there; and the fire came and consumed the booty. He said; It goes i.e. travels till it prostrates Itself underneath the Throne and takes the permission to rise again; and it is permitted and then a time will come when it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted; and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted; but it will be ordered to return whence it has come and so it will rise in the west. SahihMuslim-017-001-18688It is narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day said: Do you know where the sun goes? They replied: Allah and His Apostle know best. He the Holy Prophet observed: Verily it the sun glides till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it falls prostrate and remains there until it is asked: Rise up and go to the place whence you came; and it goes back and continues emerging out from its rising place and then glides till it reaches its place of rest under the Throne and falls prostrate and remains in that state until it is asked: Rise up and return to the place whence you came; and it returns and emerges out from it rising place and the it glides in such a normal way that the people do not discern anything unusual in it till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it would be said to it: Rise up and emerge out from the place of your setting; and it will rise from the place of its setting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said. Do you know when it would happen? It would happen at the time when faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from the faith. The Chapter on Mischief Noon Rope And Death in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 72 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18740Abu Haraira reported: The people said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : Messenger of Allah; shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do you feel any trouble in seeing the moon on the night when it is full? They said: Messenger of Allah; no. He the Messenger further said: Do you feel any trouble in seeing the sun; when there is no cloud over it? They said: Messenger of Allah. no. He the Holy Prophet said: Verily you would see Him like this as you see the sun and the moon. God will gather people on the Day of Resurrection and say: Let every people follow what they worshipped. Those who worshipped the sun would follow the sun; and those who worshipped the moon would follow the moon; and those who worshipped the devils would follow the devils. This Ummah of Islam alone would be left behind and there would be hypocrites too amongst it. Allah would then come to them in a form other than His own Form; recognisable to them; and would say: I am your Lord. They would say: We take refuge with Allah from thee. We will stay here till our Lord comes to us. and when our Lord would come we would recognise Him. Subsequently Allah would come to them in His own Form; recognisable to them; and say: I am your Lord. They would say: Thou art our Lord. And they would follow Him; and a bridge would be set over the Hell; and I the Holy Prophet and my Ummah would be the first to pass over it; and none but the messengers would speak on that day; and the prayer of the messengers on that day would be: O Allah! grant safety; grant safety. In Hell; there would be long spits like the thorns of Sadan He the Holy Prophet said: Have you seen Sadan? They replied: Yes; Messenger of Allah. He said: Verily those hooks would be like the thorns of Sadan; but no one knows their size except Allah. These would seize people for their misdeeds. Some of them would escape for their good deeds; and some would be rewarded for their deeds till they get salvation. When Allah would finish judging His bondsmen and because of His mercy decide to take out of Hell such people as He pleases. He would command the angels to bring out those who had not associated anything with Allah; to whom Allah decided to show mercy. those who would say: There is no god but Allah. They the angels would recognise them in the Fire by the marks of prostration; for Hell-fire will devour everything limb of the sons of Adam except the marks of prostration. Allah has forbidden the fire to consume the marks of prostration. They will be taken out of the Fire having been burnt; and the water of life would be poured over them; and they will sprout as seed does In the silt carried by flood. Then Allah would finish judging amongst His bondsmen; but a man who will be the last to enter Paradise will remain facing Hell and will say: O my Lord I turn my face away from Hell; for its air has poisoned me ard its blaze has burnt me. He will then call to Allah as long as Allah would wish that he should call to Him. Then Allah; Blessed and Exalted; would say: If I did that; perhaps you would ask for more than that. He would say: I would not ask You more than this; and he would give his Lord covenants and agreements as Allah wished; and so He would turn his face away from the Fire When he turns towards the Paradise and sees it; he will remain silent as long as Allah wishes him to remain so. He will then say: O my Lord I bring me forward to the gate of the Paradise. Allah would say to him: Did you not give covenants and agreements that you would not ask for anything besides what I had given you. Woe to thee! O son of Adam; how treacherous you are! He would say: O my Lord! and would continue calling to Allah till He would say to him: If I grant you that; perhaps you will ask for more. He will reply: No; by Thy greatness; and he will give His Lord promises and covenants as Allah had wished. He would then bring him to the gate of the Paradise; and when he would stand at the gate of the Paradise; it would lay open before him. and he would see the bounty and the joy that there is in it. He would remain quiet as long as Allah would desire him to remain silent. He would then say: O my Lord; admit me to Paradise. Allah. Blessed and Exalted; would say: Did you not give covenants and agreements that you would not ask for anything more than what I had granted you? Woe to you! son of Adam; how treacherous you are! And he would say: O my Lord; I do not wish to be the most miserable of Thy creatures. He would continue calling upon Allah till Allah; Blessed and Exalted; would laugh. When Allah would laugh at him; He would say: Enter the Paradise. When he would enter; Allah would say: State your wish. He would express his wishes till Allah would remind him the desire of such and such things. When his desires would be exhausted Allah would say: That is for thee and; besides it; the like of it also. Ata Bin Yazid said: Abu Saeed AlKhudri was with Abu Huraira and be did not reject anything from the hadith narrated by him; but when Abu Huraira narrated: Allah said to that man; ind its like along with it; Abu Saeed said: Ten like it along with it; O Abu Huraira. Abu Huraira said: I do not remember except the words: That is for you and a similar one along with it. Abu Saeed said: I bear witness to the fact that I remembered from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ his words: That is for thee and ten like it. SahihMuslim-017-001-19021AlBara Bin Azib reported that Abu Bakr AlSiddiq came to the residence of my father Azib and bought a haudaj from him and said to Azib: Send your son to my residence to carry this haudaj ; and my father said to me: Carry it for him. So I carried it and there went along with him with Abu Bakr my father in order to fetch its price and he Azib said to Abu Bakr: Abu Bakr; narrate to me what you both did on the night when you set out on a journey along with Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said: We set out during the night and went on walking until it was noon; and the path was vacant and so none passed by that until there appeared prominently before us a large rock. It had its shade and the rays of the sun did not reach that place. So we got down at that place. I then went to the rock and levelled the ground with my hands at the place where the Prophet ﷺ would take rest under its shade. I then set the bedding and said: Allah Messenger; go to sleep and I shall keep a watch around you. I went out and watched around him. There we saw a shepherd moving towards that rock with his flock and he intended what we intended i. e. taking rest. I met him and said to him: Young boy; to which place do you belong? He said: I am a person from Medina. I said; is there any milk in the udders of your sheep and goats? He said: Yes. He took hold of a goat; and I said to him: Clean the udder well so that it should be free from hair; dust and impurity. I saw AlBara striking his hand upon the other to give an indication how he did that. He milked the goat for me in a wooden cup which he had with him and I had with me a bucket in which I kept water for drinking and for performing ablution. I came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and did not like to awaken him from sleep but he was accidentally startled from the sleep. I poured water upon the milk till It was cold and I said: Allah Messenger; take this milk. He then took It and I was delighted and he the Holy Prophet said: Is now not the time to march on? I said: Of course. So he marched on after the sun had passed the meridian and Suraqa Bin Malik pursued us and we had been walking on soft; level ground. I said: Allah Messenger; we are about to be overtaken by them. Thereupon he said: Be not grieved. Verily; Allah is with us. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ cursed him and his horse sank into the earth. I think he also said: I know you have hurled curse upon me. So supplicate Allah for me and I take an oath that I shall turn everyone away who would come in search of you. So he Allah Messenger supplicated Allah and he was rescued and he came back and to everyone he met; he said: I have combed all this side. In short; he diverted everyone whom he met and he in fact fulfilled his promise. The Chapter on Milk in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 19 in Sahih Muslim

So when you see them; glorify and supplicate Allah; observe prayer; give alms. O Ummah of Muhammad; none is more indignant than Allah When His servant or maid commits fornication. SahihMuslim-017-001-21871Aisha; the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; reported There was an eclipse of the sun during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So; the Messenger of Allah may peace he upon him went to the Masjid and stood up and glorified Allah; and the people formed themselves in rows behind him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a long recital of the Quran and then pronounced takbir and then observed a long ruku. He then raised his head and said: Allah listened to him who praised Him: our Lord; praise is due to Thee. He then again stood up and made a long recital; which was less than the first recital. He pronounced takbir and observed a long ruku; and it was less than the first one. He again said: Allah listened to him who praised Him; our Lord; praise is due to Thee. Abu Tahir; one of the narrators made no mention of: He then prostrated himself. He did like this in the second rakah; till he completed four rakahs and four prostrations and the sun became bright before he deported. He then stood up and addressed people; after lauding Allah as He deserved; and then said: The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah These do not eclipse either on the death of anyone or on his birth. So when you see them; hasten to prayer. He also said this: Observe prayer till Allah dispels the anxiety of this extraordinary phenomenon from you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I saw in my place everything which you have been promised. I even saw myself desiring to pluck a bunch of grapes from Paradise and it was at the time when you saw me moving forward. And I saw Hell and some of its parts crushing the others; when you saw me moving back; and I saw in it Ibn Luhay and he was the person who made the camels loiter about. SahihMuslim-017-001-21875Ata reported: I heard Ubaid Bin Umair say: It has been narrated to me by one whom I regard as truthful; the narrator says: I can well guess that he meant Aisha that the sun eclipsed during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he stood up in prayer for a rigorously long time. He then bowed and then stood up and then bowed and then stood up and then bowed; thus observing three ruku in two rakahs and four prostrations. He then departed and the sun brightened. He pronounced Allah is the Greatest while bowing. He would then bow and say: Allah listened to him who praised Him while lifting up his head. He then stood up; and praised Allah and lauded Him; and then said: The sun and the moon do not eclipse on the death of anyone or on his birth. The Messenger of Allah way peace he upon him dismounted from his ride and came to the place of worship where he used to pray. He stood up to pray and the people stood behind him. Aisha said: He stood for a long time. He then bowed and it was a long ruku. He then raised his head and he stood for a long time; less than the first standing. He then bowed and his ruku was long; but it was less than that the first ruku. He then raised his head and the sun had become bright. He the Holy Prophet then said: I saw you under trial in the grave like the turmoil of Dajjal. SahihMuslim-017-001-21879Jabir Bin Abdullah reported: The sun eclipsed on one extremely hot day during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed along with his Companions. He prolonged his qiyam standing posture in prayer till they his Companions began to fall down. He then observed a long ruku. He raised his head and stood up for long and then observed a long ruku. He then raised his head and stood up for a long time and then made two prostrations. He then stood up and did like this and thus he observed four ruku and four prostrations in two rakahs and then said: All these things were brought to me in which you will be made to enter. Paradise was brought to me till I was so close to it that if I had intended to pluck a bunch of grapes out of it. I would have got it; or he the Holy Prophet said: I intended to get a bunch out of that but my hand could not reach it. Hell was also brought to me and I saw in it a woman belonging to the tribe of Israel who was tormented for a cat whom she had tied; but did not give it food nor set it free to eat the creatures of the earth; and I saw Abu Thumama Amr Bin Malik who was dragging his intestines in Hell. They the Arabs used to say that the sun and the moon do not eclipse but on the death of some great person; but in reality both these the sun and the moon are among the signs of Allah which are shown to you; so when there is an eclipse; observe prayer till it the sun or the moon brightens. SahihMuslim-017-001-21880Jabir reported that the sun eclipsed during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on that very day when Ibrahim the Prophet son died. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ stood up and led people in two rakahs of prayer with six ruku and four prostrations. He commenced the prayer with takbir Allah-o-Akbar and then recited and prolonged his recital. He then bowed nearly the length of time that he stood up. He then raised his head from the ruku and recited but less than the first recital. He then bowed to the length of time that he stood up. He then raised his head from the ruku and again recited but less than the second recital. He then bowed to the length of time that he stood up. He then lifted his head from the ruku. He then fell in prostration and observed two prostrations. He stood up and then bowed; observing six ruku like it; without completing the rakah in them; except this difference that the first qiyam of ruku was longer than the later one; and the ruku was nearly of the same length as prostration. He then moved backward and the rows behind him also moved backward till we reached the extreme Abu Bakr said: till he reached near the women He then moved forward and the people also moved forward along with him till he stood at his original place of worship. He then completed the prayer as it was required to complete and the sun brightened and he said: O people! verily the sun and the moon are among the signs of Allah and they do not eclipse at the death of anyone among people Abu Bakr said: On the death of any human being. So when you see anything like it of the nature of eclipse ; pray till it is bright. There is nothing which you have been promised in the next world but I have seen it in this prayer of mine. Hell was brought to me as you saw me moving back on account of fear lest its heat might affect me; and I saw the owner of the curved staff who dragged his intestines in the fire; and he used to steal the belongings of the pilgrims with his curved staff. If he the owner of the staff became aware; he would say: It got accidentally entangled in my curved staff; but if he was unaware of that; he would take that away. I also saw in it in Hell the owner of a cat whom she had tied and did not feed her nor set her free so that she could eat the creatures of the earth; till the cat died of starvation. Paradise was brought to me; and it was on that occasion that you saw me moving forward till I stood at my place of worship. I stretched my hand as I wanted to catch hold of its fruits so that you may see them. Then I thought of not doing it. Nothing which you have been promised was there that I did not see in this prayer of mine. The Chapter on Prostration And Worship in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-21881Asma reported: The sun eclipsed during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. As I went to Aisha who was busy in prayer. I said: What is the matter with the people that they are praying a special prayer ? She Aisha pointed towards the sky with her head. I said: Is it an unusual sign? She said: Yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up for prayer for such a long time that I was about to faint. I caught hold of a waterskin lying by my side; and began to pour water over my head; or began to sprinkle water on my face. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then finished and the sun had brightened. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then addressed the people; after praising Allah and lauding Him; and then said: There was no such thing as I did not see earlier; but I saw it at this very place of mine. I ever saw Paradise and Hell. It was also revealed to me that you would be tried in the graves; as you would he tried something like the turmoil of the Dajjal. Asma said: I do not know which word he actually used qariban or mithl ; and each one of you would be brought and it would be said: What is your knowledge about this man? If the person is a believer; Asma said: I do not know whether it was the word AlMumin or AlMuqin he would say: He is Muhammad and he is the Messenger of Allah. He brought to us the clear signs and right guidance. So we responded and obeyed him. He would repeat this three times ; and it would be said to him: You should go to sleep. We already knew that you are a believer in him. So the pious man would go to sleep. So far as the hypocrite or sceptic is concerned Asma said: I do not know which word was that: AlMunafiq hypocrite or AlMurtad doubtful he would say: I do not know. I only uttered whatever I heard people say.The Chapter on Standing For Prayers And Satan in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-21886Ibn Abbas reported: There was an eclipse of the sun during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah; ﷺ prayed accompanied by the people. He stood for a long time; about as long as it would take to recite Surah AlBaqara; then he bowed for a long time; then he raised his head and stood for a long time; but it was less than the first qiyam. He then bowed for a long time but for a shorter while than the first. He then prostrated and then stood for a long time; but it was less than the first qiyam. He then bowed for a long time; but it was less than the first bowing. He then raised his head and stood for a long time; but it was less than the first qiyam. He then bowed for a long time but it was less than the first bowing. He then observed prostration; and then he finished; and the sun had cleared by that time. He the Holy Prophet then said: The sun and moon are two signs from the signs of Allah. These two do not eclipse on account of the death of anyone or on account of the birth of anyone. So when you see that; remember Allah. They his Companions said: Messenger of Allah; we saw you reach out to something; while you were standing here; then we saw you restrain yourself. He said: I saw Paradise and reached out to a bunch of its grapes; and had I taken it you would have eaten of it as long as the world endured. I saw Hell also. No such abominable sight have I ever seen as that which I saw today; and I observed that most of its inhabitants were women. They said: Messenger of Allah; on what account is it so? He said: For their ingratitude or disbelief bi-kufraihinna. It was said: Do they disbelieve in Allah? He said: Not for their disbelief in God but for their ingratitude to their husbands and ingratitude to kindness. If you were to treat one of them kindly for ever; but if she later saw anything displeasing in you; she would say: I have never seen any good in you.The Chapter on Prolonging The Prostration in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim

SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24621Narrated Amr Ibn Anbasah AlSulami: I asked: Messenger of Allah; in which part of night the supplication is more likely to be accepted? He replied: In the last part: Pray as much as you like; for the prayer is attended by the angels and it is recorded till you offer the dawn prayer; then stop praying when the sun is rising till it has reached the height of one or two lances; for it rises between the two horns of the Devil; and the infidels offer prayer for it at that time. Then pray as much as you like; because the prayer is witnessed and recorded till the shadow of a lance be- comes equal to it. Then cease prayer; for at that time the Hell-fire is heated up and doors of Hell are opened. When the sun declines; pray as much as you like; for the prayer is witnessed till you pray the afternoon prayer; then cease prayer till the sun sets; for it sets between the horns of the Devil; and at that time the infidels offer prayer for it. He narrated a lengthy tradition. Abbas said: Abu Salam narrated this tradition in a similar manner from Abu Umamah. After bowing for the third time he prostrated himself. He stood for such a long time that some people became unconscious on that occasion and buckets of water had to be poured on them. When he bowed; he said; Allah is most great; and when he raised his head; he said; Allah listens to him who praises Him; till the sun became bright. then he said: The sun and the moon are not eclipsed on account of anyone death or on account of anyone birth; but they are two of Allah signs; He produces dread in His servants by means of them. It became black like the black herb called tannumah. One of us said to his companion: Let us go to the Masjid; by Allah; this incident of the sun will surely bring something new in the community of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. As we reached it; we suddenly saw that he the Prophet had already come out of his house. He stepped forward for a long time as much as he could do so in the prayer. But we did not hear his voice. He then performed a bowing and prolonged it as much as he could do in the prayer. But we did not hear his voice. He then prostrated himself with us and prolonged it which he never did in the prayer before. But we did not hear his voice. He then did similarly in the second rakah. The sun became bright when he sat after the second rakah. Then he uttered the salutation. He then stood up; praised Allah; and extolled Him; and testified that there was no god but Allah and testified that he was His servant and apostle. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27371Ibn Shihab said: Umar Bin Abd AlAziz was sitting on the pulpit and he somewhat postponed the afternoon prayer. Urwah Bin AlZubair said to him: Gabriel informed Muhammed ﷺ of the time of prayer. So Umar said to him: Be sure of what you are saying. Urwah then replied: I heard Bashir Bin Abu Masud say that he heard Abu Masud AlAnsari say that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Gabriel came down and informed me of the time of prayer; and I prayed along with him; then prayed along with him; then I prayed along with him; then I prayed along with him; then I prayed along with him; reckoning with his fingers five times of the prayer. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offering the Duhr prayer when the sun had passed the meridian. Sometimes he would delay it when it was sever heat ; and I witnessed that he prayer the Asr prayer when the sun was high and bright before the yellowness had overcome it; then a man could go off after the prayer and reach Dhu AlHulaifa before the sunset; and he would pray Maghrib when the sun had set ; and he would pray the Isha prayer when darkness prevailed over the horizon; sometime he would delay it until the people assembled; and once he prayer the fair prayer in the darkness of dawn and at another time he prayed it when it became fairly light; but later on he continued to pray in the darkness of dawn until his death; he never prayed it again in the light of the dawn.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted from AlZuhri by Mamar; Malik; Ibn Uyainah; Shuaib Bin Abi Hamzah; and AlLaith Bin Saad and others; but they did not mention the time in which he the Prophet had prayer; nor did they explain it. MuwataMalik-017-001-34254Malik said; The imam does not come down and prostrate when he recites a piece of Quran requiring a prostration while he is on the mimbar. Malik said; The position with us is that there are eleven prescribed prostrations in the Quran; none of which are in the mufassal. Malik said; No-one should recite any of the pieces of Quran that require a prostration after the prayers of subh and asr. This is because the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; forbade prayer after subh until after the sun had risen; and after asr until the sun had set; and prostration is part of the prayer. So no-one should recite any piece of Quran requiring a prostration during these two periods of time. Malik was asked whether a menstruating woman could prostrate if she heard some-one reciting a passage of Quran requiring a prostration; and he said; Neither a man nor a woman should prostrate unless they are ritually pure. Malik was asked whether a man in the company of a woman who was reciting a passage of Quran requiring a prostration should prostrate with her; and he said; He does not have to prostrate with her. The prostration is only obligatory for people who are with a man who is leading them. He recites the piece and they prostrate with him. Some one who hears a piece of Quran that requires a prostration being recited by a man who is not leading him in prayer does not have to do the prostration. The Chapter on Prostration While Reciting Alquran in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Congregation in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34282Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam from Ata Ibn Yasar from Abdullah AlSunabihi that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; The sun rises and with it is a horn of Shaytan and when the sun gets higher the horn leaves it. Then when the sun reaches the meridian the horn joins it and when the sun declines the horn leaves it; and when the sun has nearly set it joins it again. MuwataMalik-017-001-34283Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham Ibn Urwa that his father said that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; used to say; Delay the prayer when the edge of the sun appears until it is completely in view; and delay the prayer when the edge of the sun is disappearing until it has completely disappeared. The Chapter on Games And Hunting And Shooting in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Muwata Malik

MuwataMalik-017-001-34298Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham Ibn Urwa from his father that Aisha; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; There was an eclipse of the sun in the time of the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; led the people in prayer. He stood; and did so for a long time. Then he went into ruku; and made the ruku long. Then he stood again; and did so for a long time; though not as long as the first time. Then he went into ruku; and made the ruku long; though not as long as thefirst time. Then he rose; and went down into sajda. He then did the same in the second raka; and by the time he had finished the sun had appeared. He then gave a khutba to the people; in which he praised Allah and then said; The sun and the moon are two of Allah signs. They do not eclipse for anyone death nor for anyone life. When you see an eclipse; call on Allah and say; Allah is greater and give sadaqa. Then he said; O community of Muhammad! ByAllah; there is no-one more jealous than Allah of a male or female slave of his who commits adultery. O community of Muhammad! By Allah; if you knew what I knew; you would laugh little and weep much. The Chapter on Prostration And Eclipse Of The Sun in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34299Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam from Ata Ibn Yasar that Abdullah Ibn Abbas said; There was an eclipse of the sun and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; prayed; and the people prayed with him. He stood for a long time; nearly as long as it takes to recite Surat AlBaqara Surat 2 ; and then went into ruku for a long time. Then he rose and stood for a long time; though less than the first time. Then he went into ruku for a long time; though less than the first time. Then he went down into sajda. Then he stood for a long time; though less than the first time. Then he went into ruku for a long time; though less than the first time. Then he rose and stood for a long time; though less than the firsttime. Then he went into ruku for a long time; though less than the first time. Then he went down into sajda; and by the time he had finished the sun had appeared. Then he said; The sun and the moon are two of Allah signs. They do not eclipse for anyone death nor for anyone life. When you see an eclipse; remember Allah. They said; Messenger of Allah; we saw you reach out for something while you were standing here and then we saw you withdraw. He said; I saw the Garden and I reached out for a bunch of grapes from it; and if I had taken it you would have been able to eat from it for as long as this world lasted. Then I saw the Fire - and I have never seen anything more hideous than what I saw today - and I saw that most of its people were women. They said; Why; Messenger of Allah? He said; Because of their ungratefulness kufr. Someone said; Are they ungrateful toAllah? He said; They are ungrateful to their husbands and they are ungrateful for good behaviour towards them. Even if you were to behave well towards one of them for a whole lifetime and then she were to see you do something that she did not like she would say that she had never seen anything good from you.The Chapter on Prostration And Eclipse Of The Sun in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35395Yahya related to me from Malik that Humayd Ibn Qays and Thawr Ibn Zayd adDili both informed him that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and one of them gave more detail than the other ;saw a man standing in the sun. The Messenger asked; What wrong with him? The people said; He has vowed not to speak or to seek shade from the sun or to sit and to fast. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Go and tell him to speak; seek shade; and sit; but let him complete his fast. Malik said; I have not heard that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; ordered the man in question to do any kaffara. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; only ordered him to complete that in which there was obedience to Allah and to abandon that in which there was disobedience to Allah. The Chapter on Peace And Evil in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Jihad in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35483Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that once in the time of Uthman Ibn Affan the new moon had been seen in the afternoon and Uthman did not break his fast until evening had come and the sun had set. Yahya said that he had heard Malik say that some one who sees the new moon of Ramadan when he is on his own should start the fast and not break it if he knows that that day is part of Ramadan. He added; Some one who sees the new moon of Shawal when he is on his own does not break the fast; because people suspect the reliability of someone among them who breaks the fast. Such people should say; when they sight the new moon; We have seen the new moon. Whoever sees the new moon of Shawal during the day should not break his fast but should continue fasting for the rest of that day. This is because it is really the new moon of the night that is coming. Yahya said that he heard Malik say; If people are fasting on the day of Fitr thinking that it is still Ramadan and then definite evidence comes to them that the new moon of Ramadan had been seen one day before they began to fast and that they are now into the thirty- first day; then they should break the fast on that day at whatever time the news comes to them. However; they do not pray the id prayer if they hear the news after the sun has begun to decline. The Chapter on Ramadan And Fasting Beginning Of The Month Of Ramdan in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35528Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam from his brother Khalid Ibn Aslam that Umar Ibn AlKhattab once broke thefast on a cloudy day thinking that evening had come and the sun had set. Then a man came to him and said; Amir Almuminin; the sun has come out; and Umar said; That an easy matter. It was our deduction ijtihad. Malik said; According to what we think; and Allah knows best; what he was referring to when he said; That an easy matter was making up the fast; and how slight the effort involved was and how easy it was. He was saying in effect ; We will fast another day in its place. The Chapter on Communication In Matter Concerning The Religion in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35854Yahya related to me from Malik that Abuz-Zubayr AlMakki said; I saw the House deserted both after subh and asr; with no-one doing tawaf. Malik said; If someone does some of his circuits and then the subh or asr prayer is begun; he should pray with the imam and then complete the rest of his circuits but should not pray at all until the sun has either risen or set He added; There is no harm in delaying the two rakas until after he has prayed maghrib. Malik said; There is no harm in someone doing a single tawaf after subh or after asr; not to do more than one group of seven circuits; and then as long as he delays the two rakas until after the sun has risen; as Umar Ibn AlKhattab did; or he delays them until after the sun has set if it is after asr. Then when the sun has set he can pray them if he wants; or; if he wants; he can delay them until after he has prayed maghrib. There is no harm in that. The Chapter on Bowing In Obligatory Prayers in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Business Transactions in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35948Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said that he had heard that on the day after the day of sacrifice Umar Ibn AlKhattab went out a little after the sun had risen and said the takbir; and everyone repeated it after him. Then he went out a second time the same day when the sun was well up and said the takbir; and everyone repeated it after him. Then he went out a third time after mid-day and said the takbir; and everyone repeated it after him until it resounded from group to group until it reached the House and people knew that Umar had left to throw the stones. Malik said; What we do here in Madina is to say the takbir during the days of tashriq after each prayer. The first time is when the imam and everyone with him says the takbir after the dhuhr prayer on the day of sacrifice; and the last is when the imam and everyone with him says the takbir after subh on the last of the days of tashriq; after which he stops saying the takbir. Malik said; The takbirs during the days of tashriq should be done by both men and women; whether they are in a group or by themselves; at Mina or elsewhere; and all of the takbirs should be done. In this everyone follows the imam of the hajj and the people at Mina; because when everyone returns to Makka and comes out of ihram they keep the same people as imams while out of ihram as they did when they were in ihram. Some one who is not doing hajj does not follow them except for the takbirs during the days of tashriq. Malik said; The limited number of days are the days of tashriq. The Chapter on Tashahhud And Supplication in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Business Transactions in Muwata Malik

MuwataMalik-017-001-36197Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi; the mawla of Abdullah Ibn Umar; that Umar Ibn AlKhattab wrote to his governors saying; The most important of your affairs in my view is the prayer. Whoever protects it and observes it carefully is protecting his deen; while whoever is negligent about it will be even more negligent about other things. Then he added; Pray dhuhr any time from when the afternoon shade is the length of your forearm until the length of your shadow matches your height. Pray asr when the sun is still pure white; so that a rider can travel two or three farsakhs before the sun sets. Pray maghrib when the sun has set. Pray isha any time from when the redness in the western sky has disappeared until a third of the night has passed - and a person who sleeps; may he have no rest; a person who sleeps; may he have no rest.
