Then he mentioned a part of it; and said: He then bowed and placed his hands upon his knees as if he caught hold of them; and bent them; keeping his arms away from his sides. He them prostrated himself and placed his nose and forehead on the ground ; and kept his arms away from his side; and placed his palms on the ground opposite his shoulders; he then raised his head that every bone returned to its proper place; he then prostrated twice until he finished this prostrations. Then he sat down and spread out his left foot; putting forward the front of his right foot towards the qiblah placing the palm of his right hand on his right knee; and the palm of his left hand on his left knee; and he pointed with his finger.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by Ibn AlMubarak from Fulaih who heard Abbas. Sahl narrating it; but I do not remember it. I think he made the mention of Isa Bin Abdullah who heard Abbas Bin Sahl saying: I accompanied Abu Humaid AlSaidi.

He narrated the same tradition with a slight addition or deletion. He said: He then raised his head after bowing and uttered:Allah listens to him who praises Him; to Thee; our Lord; be the praise; and raised his hands. He then uttered: Allah is most great; then he prostrated himself and rested on his palms; knees; and the end of his toes while prostrating: then he uttered the Takbir Allah is most great ; and sat down on his hips and raised his other foot; then he uttered the takbir and prostrated himself; then he uttered takbir and stood up; but did not sit on his hips. He the narrator then narrated the rest of the tradition. He further said: Then he sat down at the end of two rakahs; when he was about to stand after two rakahs; he uttered the takbir; then he offered the last two rakahs of the prayer.     Abd AlAziz Bin Abd AlMalik Bin Abu Mahdhurah narrated that Abdullah Bin Muhairiz - who was an orphan under the care of Abu Mahdhurah until he prepared him to go to AlSham - informed him: he said: I said to Abu Mahdhurah: I am going to AlSham and I am afraid that I will be asked about how you say the Adhan.He told me that Abu Mahdhurah said to him; I went out with a group of people and we were somewhere on the road to Hunain when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was coming back from Hunain. The Messenger of Allah met us somewhere on the road and the Muadhdhin of the Messenger of Allah called the Adhan for prayer in the presence of the Messenger of Allah. We heard the voice of the Muadhdhin and we were careless about it the Adhan ; so we started yelling; immitating and mocking it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard us; so he sent some people who brought us to stand infront of him. He said; Who is the one whose voice I heard so loud? The people all pointed to me; and they were telling the truth. He sent them all away; but kept me there and said to me: Stand up and call the Adhan for the Prayer. I stood up and the Messenger of Allah taught me the Adhan himself. He Said; Say: Allahu Akbar; Allahu akbar; Allahu Akbar; Allahu Akbar; Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah Allah is the Greatest;Allah is the Greatest; Allah is the Greatest; Allah is the Greatest; I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah; I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger Allah;I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger Allah. He then prostrated himself and placed his face forehead on the ground between his hands. And when he raised his head after prostration; he also raised his hands until he finished his prayer. Muhammad a narrator said: I mentioned it to AlHasan Bin Abu AlHasan who said: This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered prayer; some did it and others abandoned it.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by Hammam from Ibn Juhadah; but he did not mention the raising of hands after he raised his head at the end of the prostration.

The first one who asked about that was so-and-so the son of so-and-so who said: O Messenger of Allah; what do you think if a man among us sees his wife committing immoral actions; and if he speaks of it; he will be speaking of a grave matter; but if he keeps quiet; he will be keeping quiet about a grave matter? He did not answer him; then after that; he came to him and said: I was tried with the matter that I asked you about; so Allah; the Mighty and Sublime; revealed these Verses in Surat AlNur.: And for those who accuse their wives until he reached: And the fifth testimony should be that the Wrath of Allah be upon her if he her husband speaks the truth. So he started with the man; exhorting him; reminding him; and telling him that the punishment in this world was less severe than the punishment in the Hereafter. He said: By the One Who sent you with the truth; I am not lying. Then he turned to the woman and exhorted her and reminded her. She said: By the One Who sent you with the truth; he is lying. So he started with the man; and he bore witness four times by Allah that he was telling the truth; and the fifth time he invoked the curse of Allah upon himself if he was lying. Then he turned to the woman and she bore witness four times by Allah that he was lying; and the fifth time she invoked the wrath of Allah upon herself if he was telling the truth. Then he separated them.

As they were talking about it there came Ali Bin Abu Talib and stood before them; and they made a mention of it to him. Ali Bin Abu Talib said: Dont do that; by Allah he the Holy Prophet would not do that would not accept your request. Rabia Bin Harith turned to him and said: By Allah; you are not doing so but out of jealousy that you nurse against us By Allah; you became the son-in-law of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ but we felt no jealousy against you for this great privilege of yours. Ali then said: Send them if you like. They set out and Ali lay on the bed. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered the noon prayer. we went ahead of him to his apartment and stood near it till he came out. He took hold of our ears out of love and affection and then said: Give out what you have kept in your hearts. He then entered the apartment and we also went in and he the Holy Prophet was on that day in the house of Zainab Bin jahsh. We urged each of us to speak. Then one of us thus spoke: Messenger of Allah; you are the best of humanity and the best to cement the ties of blood-relations. We have reached the-marriageable age. We have come to you so that you may appoint us as collectors of these sadaqat. and we would pay you just as thin people other collectors pay you; and get our share as others get it. He the Holy Prophet kept silence for a long time till we wished that we should speak with him again ; and Zainab pointied to us from behind the curtain not to talk any more. He the Holy Prophet said; It does not become the family of Muhammad to accept sadaqat for they are the impurities of people. You call to me Mahmiya and he was in charge of khums; i. e; of the one-fifth part that goes to the treasury out of the spoils of war ; and Nawfal Bin Harith Bin Abd AlMuttalib. They both came to him; and he the Holy Prophet said to Mahmiya: Marry your daughter to this young man i. e. Fadl Bin Abbas ; and he married her to him And he said to Nawfal Bin Harith: Marry your daughter to this young man i e. Abd AlMuttalib Bin Rabia; the narrator of this hadith and he married her to me; and he said to Mahmiya: Pay so much mahr on behalf of both of them from this khums Zuhri; however. said: He did not determine the amount of mahr.

    Abd AlRabman Bin Abia Bakra reported on the authority of his father that Allah Messenger ﷺ forbade the sale of gold for gold; and silver for silver except equal for equal; and commanded us to buy silver for gold as we desired and buy gold for silver as we desired. A person asked him about the nature of payment ; whereupon he said: It is to be made on the spot. This is what I heard from Allah Messenger ﷺ.

It was in accordance with these instructions of the Holy Prophet that Abu Bakr brought three persons; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ brought ten persons as guests to their respective houses. Abu Bakr had brought three persons he himself; and myself ; my father and my mother along with therm. He the narrator said: I do not know whether he also said: My wife and one servant who was common between our house and that of Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr had had his evening meal with Allah Apostle ﷺ. He stayed here until night prayer had been offered. He then came back to the house of Allah Apostle and stayed there until Allah Messenger ﷺ felt drowsy and Abu Bakr then came back to his own house when a considerable part of the night had been over; as Allah had desired. His wife said to him: What held you back from your guests? He said: Oh! have you not served them the evening meal by this time ? She said: It was in fact served to them. but they refused to eat until you came. He Abdulrahman said: I slunk away and bid myself. He Abu Bakr said: O; you stupid fellow; and he reprimanded me; and said to the guests: Eat; though it may not be pleasant now. He said: By Allah. I will never eat it He Abdulrahman said: By Allah. we did not take a morsel when from beneath that there appeared more until they had eaten to their fill; and lo! it was more than what it was before. Abu Bakr saw that and found that it was so or more than that. He said to his wife: Sister of Band Firis; what is th-is? She said: By the coolness of my eyes. it is in excess by three times over the previous one. Then Abu Bakr ate saying: That was from the Satan viz. his vow for not eating the food. He then took a morsel out of that and then took it the rest to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and it was kept there until morning; and during those days there was a covenant between us and some other people; and the period of covenant was over; and we had appointed twelve officials with every person amongst them. It is Allah only Who knows as to how many people were there with each of them. He sent this food to them and all of them ate out of it.

He said: I sought permission in the manner that I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ having said in connection With the seeking of permission for entering the house of a stranger. Thereupon he Hadrat Umar said: By Allah; I shall torture your back and your stomach unless you bring one who may bear witness to what you state. Ubay Bin Kaab said: By Allah; none should stand with you to bear testimony but the youngest amongst us. And he therefore; said to Abu Said: Stand up. So I stood up until I came to Umar and said: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ say this.

He said: Dont do that. If you think that I have any knowledge; do ask me about that. And if I were to know that; I would inform you. He the narrator stated that Umar had said: By Allah; during the days of ignorance we had no regard for women until Allah the Exalt- ed revealed about them what He has revealed; and appointed turn for them what he appointed. He said: It so happened that I was thinking about some matter that my wife said: I wish you had done that and that. I said to her: It does not concern you and you should not feel disturbed in a matter which I intend to do. She said to me: How strange is it that you; O son of AlKhattab; do not like anyone to retort upon you; whereas your daughter retorts upon Allah Messenger may peace be upou him until he spends the day in vexation. Umar said: I took hold of my cloak; then came out of my house until I visited Hafsa and said to her: O daughter; I heard that you retort upon Allah Messenger ﷺ until he spends the day in vexation; whereupon Hafsa said: By Allah; we do retort upon him. I said: You should bear in mind; my daughter; that I warn you against the punishment of Allah and the wrath of His Messenger ﷺ. You may not be misled by one whose beauty has fascinated her; and the love of Allah Messenger ﷺ for her. I Umar then visited Umm Salamah because of my relationship with her and I talked to her. Umm Salamah said to me: Umar Bin AlKhattab; how strange is it that you meddle with every matter so much so that you are anxious to interfere between Allah Messenger ﷺ and his wives; and this perturbed me so much that I refrained from saying what I had to say; so I came out of her apartment; and I had a friend from the Anar. When I had been absent from the company of the Holy Prophet he used to bring me the news and when he had been absent I used to bring him the news; and at that time we dreaded a king of Ghassan. It was mentioned to us that he intended to attack us; and our minds were haunted by him. My friend; the Ansari; came to me; and he knocked at the door and said: Open it; open it. I said: Has the Ghassani come? He said: The matter is more serious than that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has separated himself from his wives. I said: Let the nose of Hafsa and Aisha be besmeared with dust. I then took hold of my cloth and went out until I came and found Allah Messenger ﷺ in his attic to which he climbed by means of a ladder made of date-palm; and the servant of Allah Messenger ﷺ who was black had been sitting at the end of the ladder. I said: This is Umar. So permission was granted to me. I narrated this news to Allah Messenger ﷺ and as I narrated the news concerning Umm Salamah; Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled. He was lying on the mat and there was nothing between him and that mat ; and under his head there was a pillow made of leather and it was stuffed with plam fibres and at his feet were lying a heap of sant tree acacia niloctica; meant for dyeing and near his head there was hanging a hide. And I saw the marks of the maton the side of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and so I wept. He said: What makes you weep? I said: Messenger of Allah; the Khusrau and the Ceasars spendd their lives in the midst of luxuries ; whereas you being Allah Messenger are leading your life in this poverty. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Dont you like that they should have riches of their world; and you have the Hereafter.

It was rare that some food was presented to the Prophet ﷺ and it was not mentioned or named. While Allah Messenger ﷺ was about to stretch forth his hand towards the lizard; a woman from amongst the women present there informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what they had presented to him. They said: Messenger of Allah; it is a lizard. Allah Messenger ﷺ withdrew his hand; whereupon Khalid Bin Walid said: Messenger of Allah; is a lizard forbidden? There opon he said: No; but it is not found in the land of my people; and I feel that I have no liking for it. Khalid said: I then chewed and ate it; and Allah Messenger ﷺ was looking at me and he did not forbid me to eat it.

Allah Messenger ﷺ awarded the punishment of stoning to death to the married adulterer and adulteress and; after him; we also awarded the punishment of stoning; I am afraid that with the lapse of time; the people may forget it and may say: We do not find the punishment of stoning in the Book of Allah; and thus go astray by abandoning this duty prescribed by Allah. Stoning is a duty laid down in Allah Book for married men and women who commit adultery when proof is established; or it there is pregnancy; or a confession.

The Muadhdhin then pronounced the Adhan and he went out for prayer and was saying: O Allah! place light in my heart; light in my tongue; place light in my hearing; place light in my eyesight; place light behind me; and light in front of me; and place light above me; and light below me. O Allah! grant me light.

They informed him that a scourge had broken out in Syria. Ibn Abbas further reported that Umar said: Call to me tile earliest emigrants. So I called them. He Hadrat Umar sought their advice; and they told him that the scourge had broker; out in Syria. There was a difference of opinion whether they should proceed further or go back to their homes in such a situation. Some of them said: You Umar have set forth for a task; and; therefore; we would not advise you to go back; whereas some of them said: You have along with you the remnants of the sacred galaxy of men and the blessed Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; so we would not advise you to go forth towards this calamity with such eminent persons and thus expose them deliberately to a danger. He Hadrat Umar said: You can now go away. He said: Call to me the Ansar. So I called them to him; and he consulted them; and they trod the same path as was trodden by the Muhajirin; and they differed in their opinions as they had differed. He said: Now; you can go. He again said: Call to me the old persons of the Quraish who had migrated before the Victory that is the Victory of Mecca ; so I called them and Hadrat Umar consulted them and not even two persons differed from the opinion held by the earlier delegates. They said: Our opinion is that you better go back along with the people and do not make them go to this scourge; So Umar made announcement to the people: In the morning I would be on the back of my side. So they set forth in the morning ; whereupon Abu Ubaida Bin Jarrah said: Are you going to run away from the Divine Decree? Thereupon Umar said: Had it been someone else to say this besides you! Umar in fact did not approve of his opposing this decision and he said: Yes; we are running from the Divine Decree to the Divine Decree. You should think if there had been camels for you and you happened to get down in a valley having two sides; one of them covered with verdure and the other being barren; would you not be doing according to the Divine Decree if you graze them in verdure? And in case you graze them in the barren land even then you would be grazing them according to the Divine Decree. There happened to come Abdulrahman Bin Auf and he had been absent in connection with some of his needs. He said: I have with me a knowledge of it; that I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: If you hear of its presence the presence of plague in a land; dont enter it; but if it spreads in the land where you are; dont fly from it. Thereupon Umar Bin AlKhattab praised Allah and then went back?

In the meanwhile; Umar regretted his refusal of Abu Bakr excuse and went to Abu Bakr house and asked if Abu Bakr was there. They replied in the negative. So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him; but signs of displeasure appeared on the face of the Prophet ﷺ till Abu Bakr pitied Umar ; so he knelt and said twice; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! By Allah! I was more unjust to him than he to me. The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah sent me as a Prophet to you people but you said to me ; You are telling a lie; while Abu Bakr said; He has said the truth; and consoled me with himself and his money. He then said twice; Wont you then give up harming my companion? After that nobody harmed Abu Bakr.

When we recite the verses of AlSajda during the sermon whoever prostrates does the right thing; yet it is no sin for the one who does not prostrate. And Umar did not prostrate that day. Added Ibn Umar Allah has not made the prostration of recitation compulsory but if we wish we can do it.

She said: Muawiya and Ab AlJahm Allah be pleased with them were among those who had given me the proposal of marriage. Thereupon Allah Apostle ﷺ said: Muawiya is destitute and in poor condition and Ab AlJahm is very harsh with women or he beats women; or like that ; you should take Usama Bin Zaid as your husband.

I said: Commander of the Faithful; you have nothing to do with it; for the door is closed between you and that. He said: Would that door be broken or opened? I said: No; it would be broken. Thereupon he said: Then it would not be closed despite best efforts. We said to Hudhaifa: Did Umar know the door? Thereupon he said: Yes; he knew it for certain just as one knows that night precedes the next day. And I narrated to him something in which there was nothing fabricated. Shaqiq one of the narrators said: We dared not ask Hudhaifa about that door. So we requested Masruq to ask him. So he asked him and he said: By that door; he meant Umar.

The Prophet ﷺ led them in praying Zuhr. The idolaters said: They have a prayer after this that is dearer to them than their wealth and sons. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them in praying Asr. He divided them into two rows; behind him. He led them all in bowing; then when they raised their heads he led the row that was closest to him in prostrating; while the others remained standing. When they raised their heads from prostration; the second row prostrated; as they had already bowed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then the front row moved forward; so each of them took the place of his companion. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them all in bowing; then when they raised their heads from bowing; the row that was closest to him prostrated while the others remained standing; then when they had finished prostrating; the others prostrated; then the Prophet ﷺ said the taslim for all of them together.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent word to so-and-so - a woman whose name Sahl mentioned - telling her: Tell your carpenter slave to make me something of wood that I can sit on when I speak to the people. So she told him; and he made it from tamarisk wood from AlGhabah a place near AlMadinah. Then he brought it and it was sent to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; who commanded that it be set up here. Then I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascend it and praying on it; and saying the Takbir while he was on top of it; then he bowed when he was on top of it; then he came down backward and prostrated at the base of the Minbar; then he went back. When he had finished he turned to face the people and said: O people; I only did this so that you can follow me in prayer and learn how I pray.

A man amongst the people said; I shall accompany him to watch what he does Thus he accompanied him; and wherever he stood; he would stand with him; and wherever he ran; he would run with him. Then the brave man got wounded seriously and he decided to bring about his death quickly. He planted the blade of the sword in the ground directing its sharp end towards his chest between his two breasts. Then he leaned on the sword and killed himself. The other man came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said; I testify that you are Allah Messenger ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ asked; What has happened? He replied; It is about the man whom you had described as one of the people of the Hell Fire. The people were greatly surprised at what you said; and I said; I will find out his reality for you. So; I came out seeking him. He got severely wounded; and hastened to die by slanting the blade of his sword in the ground directing its sharp end towards his chest between his two breasts. Then he eased on his sword and killed himself. when Allah Messenger ﷺ said; A man may seem to the people as if he were practising the deeds of the people of Paradise while in fact he is from the people of the Hell Fire; another may seem to the people as if he were practicing the deeds of the people of Hell Fire ; while in fact he is from the people of Paradise.

I milked the sheep for them and took the milk to them; but I found them sleeping. I disliked to provide my family with the milk before them. I waited for them and the bowl of milk was in my hand and I kept on waiting for them to get up till the day dawned. Then they got up and drank the milk. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only; please relieve us from our critical situation caused by this rock. So; the rock shifted a little but they could not get out. The Prophet ﷺ added; The second man said; O Allah! I had a cousin who was the dearest of all people to me and I wanted to have sexual relations with her but she refused. Later she had a hard time in a famine year and she came to me and I gave her one-hundred-and-twenty Dinars on the condition that she would not resist my desire; and she agreed. When I was about to fulfill my desire; she said: It is illegal for you to outrage my chastity except by legitimate marriage. So; I thought it a sin to have sexual intercourse with her and left her though she was the dearest of all the people to me; and also I left the gold I had given her. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only; please relieve us from the present calamity. So; the rock shifted a little more but still they could not get out from there. The Prophet ﷺ added; Then the third man said; O Allah! I employed few laborers and I paid them their wages with the exception of one man who did not take his wages and went away. I invested his wages and I got much property thereby. Then after some time he came and said to me: O Allah slave! Pay me my wages. I said to him: All the camels; cows; sheep and slaves you see; are yours. He said: O Allah slave! Dont mock at me. I said: I am not mocking at you. So; he took all the herd and drove them away and left nothing. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only; please relieve us from the present suffering. So; that rock shifted completely and they got out walking.

He arrived but he had no camel with him. He asked: Where is your camel? He replied: I lost it last night. Abu Bakr said: There was only one camel; even that you have lost. He then began to beat him while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was smiling and saying: Look at this man who is in the sacred state putting on ihram ; what is he doing? Ibn Abu Rizmah said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke nothing except the words: Look at this man who is in the sacred state wearing ihram ; what is he doing? He was smiling when he uttered these words.

Abu Bakr would say; This man shows me the Way; One would think that Abu Bakr meant the road; while in fact; Abu Bakr meant the way of virtue and good. Then Abu Bakr looked behind and saw a horse-rider pursuing them. He said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This is a horse-rider pursuing us. The Prophet ﷺ looked behind and said; O Allah! Cause him to fall down. So the horse threw him down and got up neighing. After that the rider; Suraqa said; O Allah Prophet! Order me whatever you want. The Prophet said; Stay where you are and do not allow anybody to reach us. So; in the first part of the day Suraqa was an enemy of Allah Prophet and in the last part of it; he was a protector. Then Allah Apostle alighted by the side of the AlHarra and sent a message to the Ansar; and they came to Allah Prophet and Abu Bakr; and having greeted them; they said; Ride your camels safe and obeyed. Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr rode and the Ansar; carrying their arms; surrounded them. The news that Allah Prophet had come circulated in Medina. The people came out and were eagerly looking and saying Allah Prophet has come! Allah Prophet has come! So the Prophet ﷺ went on till he alighted near the house of Abu Ayoub. While the Prophet ﷺ was speaking with the family members of Abu Ayoub ; Abdullah Bin Salam heard the news of his arrival while he himself was picking the dates for his family from his family garden. He hurried to the Prophet ﷺ carrying the dates which he had collected for his family from the garden. He listened to Allah Prophet and then went home. Then Allah Prophet said; Which is the nearest of the houses of our kith and kin? Abu Ayoub replied; Mine; O Allah Prophet! This is my house and this is my gate. The Prophet ﷺ said; Go and prepare a place for our midday rest. Abu Ayoub said; Get up both of you with Allah Blessings. So when Allah Prophet went into the house; Abdullah Bin Salam came and said I testify that you i.e. Muhammad are Apostle of Allah and that you have come with the Truth. The Jews know well that I am their chief and the son of their chief and the most learned amongst them and the son of the most learned amongst them. So send for them i.e. Jews and ask them about me before they know that I have embraced Islam; for if they know that they will say about me things which are not correct. So Allah Messenger ﷺ sent for them; and they came and entered. Allah Messenger ﷺ said to them; O the group of Jews! Woe to you: be afraid of Allah. By Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped; you people know for certain; that I am Apostle of Allah and that I have come to you with the Truth; so embrace Islam. The Jews replied; We do not know this. So they said this to the Prophet and he repeated it thrice. Then he said; What sort of a man is Abdullah Bin Salam amongst you? They said; He is our chief and the son of our chief and the most learned man; and the son of the most learned amongst us. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; O Ibn Salam! Come out to them. He came out and said; O the group of Jews! Be afraid of Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped. You know for certain that he is Apostle of Allah and that he has brought a True Religion! They said; You tell a lie. On that Allah Messenger ﷺ turned them out.

The Prophet ﷺ said; No doubt I will judge between you according to Allah Laws. The slave-girl and the sheep are to go back to you; and your son will get a hundred lashes and one year exile. He then addressed somebody; O Unais! go to the wife of this man and stone her to death So; Unais went and stoned her to death.
