| SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1419 | | Narrated Abdullah Bin Abbas: Uyaina Bin Housn Bin Hudhaifa Bin Badr came and stayed at Medina with his nephew AlHurr Bin Qais Bin Housn who was one of those whom Umar used to keep near him; as the Qurra learned men knowing Quran by heart were the people of Umar meetings and his advisors whether they were old or young. Uyaina said to his nephew; O my nephew! Have you an approach to this chief so as to get for me the permission to see him? His nephew said; I will get the permission for you to see him. Ibn Abbas added: So he took the permission for Uyaina; and when the latter entered; he said; O the son of AlKhattab! By Allah; you neither give us sufficient provision nor judge among us with justice. On that Umar became so furious that he intended to harm him. AlHurr; said; O Chief of the Believers! Allah said to His Apostle Hold to forgiveness; command what is good right ; and leave the foolish i.e. do not punish them. 7.199 and this person is among the foolish. When Umar performed his last Hajj; Abdulrahman said to me at Mina; Would that you had seen Chief of the believers today! A man came to him and said; So-and-so has said; If Chief of the Believers died; we will give the oath of allegiance to such-and-such person; Umar said; I will get up tonight and warn those who want to usurp the people rights. I said; Do not do so; for the season of Hajj gathers the riffraff mob who will form the majority of your audience; and I am afraid that they will not understand the meaning of your saying properly and may spread an incorrect statement everywhere. You should wait till we reach Medina; the place of migration and the place of the Sunna the Prophet Traditions. There you will meet the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ from the Muhajirin and the Ansar who will understand your statement and place it in its proper position Umar said; By Allah; I shall do so the first time I stand to address the people in Medina. | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1957 | | Narrated Aisha: Mother of the Believers: We; the wives of the Prophet ﷺ were all sitting with the Prophet ﷺ and none of us had left when Fatima came walking; and by Allah; her gait was very similar to that of Allah Messenger ﷺ. When he saw her; he welcomed her; saying; Welcome; O my daughter! Then he made her sit on his right or his left; confided something to her; whereupon she wept bitterly. When he noticed her sorrow; he confided something else to her for the second time; and she started laughing. Only I from among the Prophet wives said to her; O Fatima ; Allah Messenger ﷺ selected you from among us for the secret talk and still you weep? When Allah Messenger ﷺ got up and went away ; I asked her; What did he confide to you? She said; I wouldnt disclose the secrets of Allah Messenger ﷺ But when he died I asked her; I beseech you earnestly by what right I have on you; to tell me that secret talk which the Prophet had with you She said; As you ask me now; yes; I will tell you. She informed me; saying; When he talked to me secretly the first time; he said that Gabriel used to review the Quran with him once every year. He added; But this year he reviewed it with me twice; and therefore I think that my time of death has approached. So; be afraid of Allah; and be patient; for I am the best predecessor for you in the Hereafter. Fatima added; So I wept as you Aisha witnessed. And when the Prophet ﷺ saw me in this sorrowful state; he confided the second secret to me saying; O Fatima! | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2409 | | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ came across a tribe amongst the tribes of the Arabs; and that tribe did not entertain them. While they were in that state; the chief of that tribe was bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion. They said; to the companions of the Prophet ﷺ ; Have you got any medicine with you or anybody who can treat with Ruqya? The Prophet companions said; You refuse to entertain us; so we will not treat your chief unless you pay us for it. So they agreed to pay them a flock of sheep. One of them the Prophet companions started reciting Surat AlFatiha and gathering his saliva and spitting it at the snake-bite. The patient got cured and his people presented the sheep to them; but they said; We will not take it unless we ask the Prophet whether it is lawful. When they asked him; he smiled and said; How do you know that Surat AlFatiha is a Ruqya? While I was sitting there with him his gate-keeper; Yarfa; came and said; Uthman Abdulrahman bin Auf ; AlZubair and Saad bin Abi Waqqas are seeking permission to meet you. Umar said; Yes. So he admitted them and they entered; greeted; and sat down. After a short while Yarfa came again and said to Umar Shall I admit Ali and Abbas? Umar said; Yes. He admitted them and when they entered; they greeted and sat down. Abbas said; O Chief of the Believers! Judge between me and this Ali. The group; Uthman and his companions Sad; O Chief of the Believers! Judge between them and relieve one from the other. Umar said. Wait! I beseech you by Allah; by Whose permission both the Heaven and the Earth stand fast ! Do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said. We Apostles do not bequeath anything to our heirs; but whatever we leave is to be given in charity. And by that Allah Messenger ﷺ s meant himself? The group said; He did say so. Umar then turned towards All and Abbas and said. I beseech you both by Allah; do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said that? They said; Yes Umar said; Now; let me talk to you about this matter. Allah favored His Apostle with something of this property war booty which He did not give to anybody else. And Allah said:- And what Allah has bestowed on His Apostle as Fai Booty from them for which you made no expedition with either cavalry or camelry... Allah is Able to do all things. 59.6 So this property was especially granted to Allah Messenger ﷺ. But by Allah he neither withheld it from you; nor did he keep it for himself and deprive you of it; but he gave it all to you and distributed it among you till only this remained out of it. And out of this property Allah Messenger ﷺ used to provide his family with their yearly needs; and whatever remained; he would spend where Allah Property the revenues of Zakat used to be spent. Allah Messenger ﷺ kept on acting like this throughout his lifetime. Now I beseech you by Allah; do you know that? They said; Yes. Then Umar said to Ali and Abbas; I beseech you by Allah; do you both know that? They said; Yes. Umar added; When Allah had taken His Apostle unto Him; Abu Bakr said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ. So he took charge of that property and did with it the same what Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do; and both of you knew all about it then. Then Umar turned towards Ali and Abbas and said; You both claim that Abu Bakr was so-and-so! But Allah knows that he was honest; sincere; pious and right in that matter. Then Allah caused Abu Bakr to die; and I said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr. So I kept this property in my possession for the first two years of my rule; and I used to do the same with it as Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr used to do. Later both of you Ali and Abbas came to me with the same claim and the same problem. O Abbas! You came to me demanding your share from the inheritance of the son of your brother; and he Ali came to me demanding his wives share from the inheritance of her father. So I said to you; If you wish I will hand over this property to you; on condition that you both promise me before Allah that you will manage it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr did; and as I have done since the beginning of my rule; otherwise you should not speak to me about it. So you both said; Hand over this property to us on this condition. And on this condition I handed it over to you. I beseech you by Allah; did I hand it over to them on that condition? The group said; Yes. Umar then faced Ali and Abbas and said; I beseech you both by Allah; did I hand it over to you both on that condition? They both said; Yes. Umar added; Do you want me now to give a decision other than that? By Him with Whose permission order both the Heaven and the Earth stand fast; I will never give any decision other than that till the Hour is established! | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-327 | | Narrated Amr Bin Maimun AlAudi: I saw Umar Bin AlKhattab when he was stabbed saying; O Abdullah Bin Umar! Go to the mother of the believers Aisha and say; Umar Bin AlKhattab sends his greetings to you; and request her to allow me to be buried with my companions. So; Ibn Umar conveyed the message to Aisha. She said; I had the idea of having this place for myself but today I prefer him Umar to myself and allow him to be buried there. When Abdullah Bin Umar returned; Umar asked him; What news do you have? He replied; O chief of the believers! She has allowed you to be buried there. On that Umar said; Nothing was more important to me than to be buried in that sacred place. So; when I expire; carry me there and pay my greetings to her Aisha and say; Umar Bin AlKhattab asks permission; and if she gives permission; then bury me there and if she does not; then take me to the graveyard of the Muslims. I do not think any person has more right for the caliphate than those with whom Allah Messenger ﷺ ﷺ was always pleased till his death. And whoever is chosen by the people after me will be the caliph; and you people must listen to him and obey him; and then he mentioned the name of Uthman; Ali; Talha ; AlZubair; Abdulrahman Bin Auf and Saad Bin Abi Waqqas. By this time a young man from Ansar came and said; O chief of the believers! Be happy with Allah glad tidings. The grade which you have in Islam is known to you; then you became the caliph and you ruled with justice and then you have been awarded martyrdom after all this. Umar replied; O son of my brother! Would that all that privileges will counterbalance my short comings ; so that I neither lose nor gain anything. I recommend my successor to be good to the early emigrants and realize their rights and to protect their honor and sacred things. And I also recommend him to be good to the Ansar who before them; had homes in Medina and had adopted the Faith. He should accept the good of the righteous among them and should excuse their wrongdoers. Then one of our men went along with her though we did not think that he knew any such treatment. But he treated the chief by reciting something; and the sick man recovered whereupon he gave him thirty sheep and gave us milk to drink as a reward. When he returned; we asked our friend; Did you know how to treat with the recitation of something? He said; No; but I treated him only with the recitation of the Mother of the Book i.e.; AlFatiha. We said; Do not say anything about it till we reach or ask the Prophet ﷺ so when we reached Medina; we mentioned that to the Prophet in order to know whether the sheep which we had taken were lawful to take or not. | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3774 | | Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived at Medina with Abu Bakr; riding behind him on the same camel. Abu Bakr was an elderly man known to the people; while Allah Messenger ﷺ was a youth that was unknown. Thus; if a man met Abu Bakr; he would say; O Abu Bakr! Who is this man in front of you? Abu Bakr would say; This man shows me the Way; One would think that Abu Bakr meant the road; while in fact; Abu Bakr meant the way of virtue and good. Then Abu Bakr looked behind and saw a horse-rider pursuing them. He said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This is a horse-rider pursuing us. The Prophet ﷺ looked behind and said; O Allah! Cause him to fall down. So the horse threw him down and got up neighing. After that the rider; Suraqa said; O Allah Prophet! Order me whatever you want. The Prophet said; Stay where you are and do not allow anybody to reach us. So; in the first part of the day Suraqa was an enemy of Allah Prophet and in the last part of it; he was a protector. Then Allah Apostle alighted by the side of the AlHarra and sent a message to the Ansar; and they came to Allah Prophet and Abu Bakr; and having greeted them; they said; Ride your camels safe and obeyed. Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr rode and the Ansar; carrying their arms; surrounded them. The news that Allah Prophet had come circulated in Medina. The people came out and were eagerly looking and saying Allah Prophet has come! Allah Prophet has come! So the Prophet ﷺ went on till he alighted near the house of Abu Ayoub. While the Prophet ﷺ was speaking with the family members of Abu Ayoub ; Abdullah Bin Salam heard the news of his arrival while he himself was picking the dates for his family from his family garden. He hurried to the Prophet ﷺ carrying the dates which he had collected for his family from the garden. He listened to Allah Prophet and then went home. Then Allah Prophet said; Which is the nearest of the houses of our kith and kin? Abu Ayoub replied; Mine; O Allah Prophet! This is my house and this is my gate. The Prophet ﷺ said; Go and prepare a place for our midday rest. Abu Ayoub said; Get up both of you with Allah Blessings. So when Allah Prophet went into the house; Abdullah Bin Salam came and said I testify that you i.e. Muhammad are Apostle of Allah and that you have come with the Truth. The Jews know well that I am their chief and the son of their chief and the most learned amongst them and the son of the most learned amongst them. So send for them i.e. Jews and ask them about me before they know that I have embraced Islam; for if they know that they will say about me things which are not correct. So Allah Messenger ﷺ sent for them; and they came and entered. Allah Messenger ﷺ said to them; O the group of Jews! Woe to you: be afraid of Allah. By Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped; you people know for certain; that I am Apostle of Allah and that I have come to you with the Truth; so embrace Islam. The Jews replied; We do not know this. So they said this to the Prophet and he repeated it thrice. Then he said; What sort of a man is Abdullah Bin Salam amongst you? They said; He is our chief and the son of our chief and the most learned man; and the son of the most learned amongst us. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; O Ibn Salam! Come out to them. He came out and said; O the group of Jews! Be afraid of Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped. You know for certain that he is Apostle of Allah and that he has brought a True Religion! They said; You tell a lie. | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3795 | | Narrated Anas Bin Malik: When Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived at Medina; he alighted at the upper part of Medina among the people called Bani Amr Bin Auf and he stayed with them for fourteen nights. Then he sent for the chiefs of Bani AlNajjar; and they came; carrying their swords. As if I am just now looking at Allah Messenger ﷺ on his camel with Abu Bakr riding behind him on the same camel and the chiefs of Bani AlNajjar around him till he dismounted in the courtyard of Abu Ayoub home. The Prophet ﷺ used to offer the prayer wherever the prayer was due; and he would pray even in sheepfolds. Then he ordered that the Masjid be built. He sent for the chiefs of Banu AlNajjar; and when they came; he said; O Banu AlNajjar! Suggest to me the price of this garden of yours. They replied No! By Allah; we do not demand its price except from Allah. In that garden there were the following things that I will tell you: Graves of pagans; unleveled land with holes and pits etc.; and date-palm trees. Allah Messenger ﷺ ordered that the graves of the pagans be dug up and; the unleveled land be leveled and the date-palm trees be cut down. The trunks of the trees were arranged so as to form the wall facing the Qibla. The Stone pillars were built at the sides of its gate. The companions of the Prophet ﷺ were carrying the stones and reciting some lyrics; and Allah Messenger ﷺ.. was with them and they were saying; O Allah! | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3953 | | Narrated Hudhaifa Bin AlYaman: The people used to ask Allah Messenger ﷺ about good; but I used to ask him about evil for fear that it might overtake me. Once I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We were in ignorance and in evil and Allah has bestowed upon us the present good; will there by any evil after this good? He said; Yes. I asked; Will there be good after that evil? He said; Yes; but it would be tained with Dakhan i.e. Little evil. I asked; What will its Dakhan be? He said; There will be some people who will lead people according to principles other than my tradition. You will see their actions and disapprove of them. I said; Will there by any evil after that good? He said; Yes; there will be some people who will invite others to the doors of Hell; and whoever accepts their invitation to it will be thrown in it by them. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Describe those people to us. He said; They will belong to us and speak our language I asked; What do you order me to do if such a thing should take place in my life? He said; Adhere to the group of Muslims and their Chief. I asked; If there is neither a group of Muslims nor a chief what shall I do ? | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3969 | | Narrated Aisha: Once Fatima came walking and her gait resembled the gait of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said; Welcome; O my daughter! Then he made her sit on his right or on his left side; and then he told her a secret and she started weeping. I asked her; Why are you weeping? He again told her a secret and she started laughing. I said; I never saw happiness so near to sadness as I saw today. I asked her what the Prophet ﷺ had told her. She said; I would never disclose the secret of Allah Messenger ﷺ. When the Prophet ﷺ died; I asked her about it. She replied. The Prophet ﷺ said: Every year Gabriel used to revise the Quran with me once only; but this year he has done so twice. I think this portends my death; and you will be the first of my family to follow me. So I started weeping. Then he said. Dont you like to be the chief of all the ladies of Paradise or the chief of the believing women? Suddenly the messenger of Umar Bin AlKhattab came to me and said; The chief of the believers has sent for you. So; I went along with him till I entered the place where Umar was sitting on a bedstead made of date-palm leaves and covered with no mattress; and he was leaning over a leather pillow. I greeted him and sat down. He said; O Mali! Some persons of your people who have families came to me and I have ordered that a gift should be given to them; so take it and distribute it among them. I said; O chief of the believers! I wish that you order someone else to do it. He said; O man! Take it. While I was sitting there with him; his doorman Yarfa came saying; Uthman; Abdulrahman Bin Auf; AlZubair and Saad Bin Abi Waqqas are asking your permission to see you ; may I admit them? Umar said; Yes; So they were admitted and they came in; greeted him; and sat down. After a while Yarfa came again and said; May I admit Ali and Abbas? Umar said; yes. So; they were admitted and they came in and greeted him and sat down. Then Abbas said; O chief of the believers! Judge between me and this i.e. Ali. They had a dispute regarding the property of Bani AlNadir which Allah had given to His Apostle as Fai. The group i.e. Uthman and his companions said; O chief of the believers! Judge between them and relieve both of them front each other. Umar said; Be patient! I beseech you by Allah by Whose Permission the Heaven and the Earth exist; do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Our i.e. prophets property will not be inherited; and whatever we leave; is Sadaqa to be used for charity ; and Allah Messenger ﷺ meant himself by saying we ? The group said; He said so. Umar then turned to Ali and Abbas and said; I beseech you by Allah; do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said so? They replied; He said so. Umar then said; So; I will talk to you about this matter. Allah bestowed on His Apostle with a special favor of something of this Fai booty which he gave to nobody else. Umar then recited the Holy Verses: What Allah bestowed as Fai Booty on his Apostle Muhammad from them -- for this you made no expedition with either cavalry or camelry: But Allah gives power to His Apostles over whomever He will And Allah is able to do all things. 9:6 Umar added So this property was especially given to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; but; by Allah; neither did he take possession of it and leave your; nor did he favor himself with it to your exclusion; but he gave it to all of you and distributed it amongst you till this property remained out of it. Allah Messenger ﷺ used to spend the yearly expenses of his family out of this property and used to keep the rest of its revenue to be spent on Allah Cause. Allah Apostle kept on doing this during all his lifetime. I ask you by Allah do you know this? They replies in the affirmative. Umar then said to Ali and Abbas. I ask you by Allah; do you know this? Umar added; When Allah had taken His Prophet unto Him; Abu Bakr said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ so; Abu Bakr took over that property and managed it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do; and Allah knows that he was true; pious and rightlyguided; and he was a follower of what was right. Then Allah took Abu Bakr unto Him and I became Abu Bakr successor; and I kept that property in my possession for the first two years of my Caliphate; managing it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do and as Abu Bakr used to do; and Allah knows that I have been true; pious; rightly guided; and a follower of what is right. Now you both i.e. Ah and Abbas came to talk to me; bearing the same claim and presenting the same case; you; Abbas; came to me asking for your share from your nephew property; and this man; i.e. Ali; came to me asking for his wife share from her father property. I told you both that Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Our prophets properties are not to be inherited; but what we leave is Sadaqa to be used for charity. When I thought it right that I should hand over this property to you; I said to you; I am ready to hand over this property to you if you wish; on the condition that you would take Allah Pledge and Convention that you would manage it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ used to; and as Abu Bakr used to do; and as I have done since I was in charge of it. So; both of you said to me ; Hand it over to us; and on that condition I handed it over to you. So; I ask you by Allah; did I hand it over to them on this condition? The group aid; Yes. So; you have the option of restoring your properties or your captives; for I have delayed distributing them. The narrator added; Allah Messenger ﷺ c had been waiting for them for more than ten days on his return from Taif. When they realized that Allah Apostle would return to them only one of two things; they said; We choose our captives. So; Allah Apostle got up in the gathering of the Muslims; praised Allah as He deserved; and said; Then after! These brethren of yours have come to you with repentance and I see it proper to return their captives to them. So; whoever amongst you likes to do that as a favor; then he can do it; and whoever of you wants to stick to his share till we pay him from the very first booty which Allah will give us then he can do so. | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5018 | | Narrated Abu Said: Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ went on a journey till they reached some of the Arab tribes at night. They asked the latter to treat them as their guests but they refused. The chief of that tribe was then bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion and they tried their best to cure him but in vain. Some of them said to the others ; Nothing has benefited him; will you go to the people who resided here at night; it may be that some of them might possess something as treatment ; They went to the group of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ and said; Our chief has been bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion and we have tried everything but he has not benefited. Have you got anything useful ? One of them replied; Yes; by Allah! I can recite a Ruqya; but as you have refused to accept us as your guests; I will not recite the Ruqya for you unless you fix for us some wages for it. They agrees to pay them a flock of sheep. One of them then went and recited Surat AlFatiha : All the praises are for the Lord of the Worlds and puffed over the chief who became all right as if he was released from a chain; and got up and started walking; showing no signs of sickness. They paid them what they agreed to pay. Some of them i.e. the companions then suggested to divide their earnings among themselves; but the one who performed the recitation said; Do not divide them till we go to the Prophet ﷺ and narrate the whole story to him; and wait for his order. So; they went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and narrated the story. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; How did you come to know that Surat AlFatiha was recited as Ruqya? Then he added; You have done the right thing. Divide what you have earned and assign a share for me as well. You should be calm and quiet till the new chief comes to you and he will come to you soon. Ask Allah forgiveness for your late chief because he himself loved to forgive others. Jarir added; Amma badu now then ; I went to the Prophet and said; I give my pledge of allegiance to you for Islam. | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6306 | | Narrated Abdullah Bin Masud: From Saad Bin Muadh: Saad Bin Muadh was an intimate friend of Umaiya Bin Khalaf and whenever Umaiya passed through Medina; he used to stay with Sad; and whenever Saad went to Mecca; he used to stay with Umaiya. When Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived at Medina; Saad went to perform Umra and stayed at Umaiya home in Mecca. He said to Umaiya; Tell me of a time when the Masjid is empty so that I may be able to perform Tawaf around the Kaba. So Umaiya went with him about midday. Abu Jahl met them and said; O Abu Safwan! Who is this man accompanying you? He said; He is Sad. Abu Jahl addressed Saad saying; I see you wandering about safely in Mecca inspite of the fact that you have given shelter to the people who have changed their religion i.e. became Muslims and have claimed that you will help them and support them. By Allah; if you were not in the company of Abu Safwan; you would not be able to go your family safely. Sad; raising his voice; said to him; By Allah; if you should stop me from doing this i.e. performing Tawaf I would certainly prevent you from something which is more valuable for you; that is; your passage through Medina. On this; Umaiya said to him; O Saad do not raise your voice before Abu AlHakam; the chief of the people of the Valley of Mecca. Saad said; O Umaiya; stop that! By Allah; I have heard Allah Messenger ﷺ predicting that the Muslim will kill you. Umaiya asked; In Mecca? Saad said; I do not know. Umaiya was greatly scared by that news. When Umaiya returned to his family; he said to his wife; O Um Safwan! Dont you know what Saad told me? She said; What has he told you? He replied; He claims that Muhammad has informed them i.e. companions that they will kill me. I asked him; In Mecca? He replied; I do not know. Then Umaiya added; By Allah; I will never go out of Mecca. But when the day of the Ghazwa of Badr came; Abu Jahl called the people to war; saying; Go and protect your caravan. But Umaiya disliked to go out of Mecca. Abu Jahl came to him and said; O Abu Safwan! If the people see you staying behind though you are the chief of the people of the Valley; then they will remain behind with you. Abu Jahl kept on urging him to go until he i.e. Umaiya said; As you have forced me to change my mind; by Allah; I will buy the best camel in Mecca. Then Umaiya said to his wife. O Um Safwan; prepare what I need for the journey. She said to him; O Abu Safwan! Have you forgotten what your Yathribi brother told you? He said; No; but I do not want to go with them but for a short distance. So when Umaiya went out; he used to tie his camel wherever he camped. Allah Messenger ﷺ had delayed the distribution of their booty over ten nights after his return from Taif. So when they came to know that Allah Messenger ﷺ was not going to return to them but one of the two; they said; We prefer to have our captives. So Allah Messenger ﷺ got up amongst the Muslims; and praising Allah as He deserved; said; To proceed! Your brothers have come to you with repentance and I see it logical to return their captives. So; whoever of you likes to do that as a favor then he can do it. And whoever of you likes to stick to his share till we give him from the very first booty which Allah will give us; then he can do so. The people said; We do that i.e. return the captives willingly as a favor; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Allah Messenger ﷺ said; We do not know which of you have agreed to it and which have not; so go back and let your chiefs forward us your decision. They went back and their chief spoke to them; and they i.e. the chiefs returned to Allah Messenger ﷺ and informed him that all of them had agreed to give up their captives with pleasure; and had given their permission i.e. that the captives be returned to their people. So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said; I will ask you about three things which nobody knows unless he be a prophet. Firstly; what is the first portent of the Hour? What is the first meal of the people of Paradise? And what makes a baby look like its father or mother?. The Prophet ﷺ said; Just now Gabriel has informed me about that. Abdullah said; Gabriel? The Prophet ﷺ said; Yes. Abdullah said; He; among the angels is the enemy of the Jews. On that the Prophet ﷺ recited this Holy Verse:- Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel let him die in his fury! for he has brought it i.e. Quran down to your heart by Allah permission. 2.97 Then he added; As for the first portent of the Hour; it will be a fire that will collect the people from the East to West. And as for the first meal of the people of Paradise; it will be the caudite i.e. extra lobe of the fish liver. And if a man discharge proceeded that of the woman; then the child resembles the father; and if the woman discharge proceeded that of the man; then the child resembles the mother. On hearing that; Abdullah said; I testify that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; and that you are the Messenger of Allah; O; Allah Messenger ﷺ ; the Jews are liars; and if they should come to know that I have embraced Islam; they would accuse me of being a liar. In the meantime some Jews came to the Prophet and he asked them; What is Abdullah status amongst you? They replied; He is the best amongst us; and he is our chief and the son of our chief. The Prophet ﷺ said; What would you think if Abdullah Bin Salam embraced Islam? They replied; May Allah protect him from this! Then Abdullah came out and said; I testify that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6956 | | Narrated Ibn Abbas: Uyaina Bin Housn Bin Hudhaifa came and stayed with his nephew AlHurr Bin Qais who was one of those whom Umar used to keep near him; as the Qurra learned men knowing Quran by heart were the people of Umar meetings and his advisors whether they were old or young. Uyaina said to his nephew; O son of my brother! You have an approach to this chief; so get for me the permission to see him. AlHurr said; I will get the permission for you to see him. So AlHurr asked the permission for Uyaina and Umar admitted him. When Uyaina entered upon him; he said; Beware! O the son of AlKhattab! By Allah; you neither give us sufficient provision nor judge among us with justice. Thereupon Umar became so furious that he intended to harm him; but AlHurr said; O chief of the Believers!
