Mukhtar Bin Fulful said: I asked Anas Bin Malik about the voluntary prayers after the afternoon prayer; and he replied: Umar struck hit hands on prayer observed after the Asr prayer and we used to observe two rakahs after the sun set before the evening prayer during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said to him: Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ observe them? He said: He saw us observing them; but he neither commanded us nor forbade us to do so. SahihMuslim-017-001-23997
4. Abu Huraira Allah be pleased with him reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade his Companions from observing fast uninterruptedly. One of the Muslims said: Messenger of Allah; you yourself observe Saum Wisal; whereupon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Who among you is like me? I spend night in a state that my Allah feeds me and provides me drink. When they the Companions of the Holy Prophet did not agree in abandoning the uninterrupted fast; then the Prophet ﷺ also observed this fast with them for a day; and then for a day. They then saw the new moon and he the Holy Prophet said: If the appearance of the new moon were delayed. I would have observed more fasts with you and he did it by way of warning to them as they had not agreed to refrain from observing Saum Wisal SahihMuslim-017-001-22202
5. Abu Huraira Allah be pleased with him reported Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: Abstain from Saum-Wisal. They his Companions said: Messenger of Allah; but you observe Saum Wisal. Upon this he said: You are not like me in this matter; for I spend my night in a state that my Lord feeds me and provides me drink Devote yourselves to the deeds the burden of which you can bear. Narrated Talha Bin Ubaidullah: A man from Najd with unkempt hair came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and we heard his loud voice but could not understand what he was saying; till he came near and then we came to know that he was asking about Islam. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; You have to offer prayers perfectly five times in a day and night 24 hours. The man asked; Is there any more praying ? Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; No; but if you want to offer the Nawafil prayers you can. Allah Messenger ﷺ further said to him: You have to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan. The man asked; Is there any more fasting? Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; No; but if you want to observe the Nawafil fasts you can. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ further said to him; You have to pay the Zakat obligatory charity. The man asked; Is there any thing other than the Zakat for me to pay? Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; No; unless you want to give alms of your own. And then that man retreated saying; By Allah! I will neither do less nor more than this. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; If what he said is true; then he will be successful i.e. he will be granted Paradise. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6102
7. Aisha reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died in this very state that he observed most of his Nafl prayers in a sitting position. SahihMuslim-017-001-23771

Umm Athiyah reported the Prophet ﷺ as saying A woman must not observe mourning for more than three days except for four months and ten days in the case of a husband and she must not wear a dyed garment except one of the types made of dyed yarn or apply collyrium or touch perfume except for a little costus or azfar when she has been purified after her menstrual courses.The narrator Yaqub mentioned the words except washed clothes instead of the words one of the types made of dyed yarn. 9. Another chain from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet ﷺ took his sword Dh AlFiqar on the Day of Badr; and it is the one that he saw in the dream on the Day of Uhud.This Hadith isHassan Gharib. We only know it from this route through the report of Ibn Abi AlZinad.The people of knowledge differ over giving the Nafl from the Khumus. Malik Bin Anas said: It has not reached me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave the Nafl during every expedition; but it has been conveyed to me that he gave the Nafl in some of them. That is according to the discretion of the Imam during the beginning of the division of the spoils or the end of it Ibn Mansur said: I said to Ahmad: The Prophet ﷺ gave the Nafl when he divided the fourth; after the Khumus; and when he was returning he gave the third from the Khumus. So he said: The Khumus is taken; and then the Nafl is given from what remains; nothing beyond this.[Abu Eisa said:] This Hadith is understood as Ibn Mousayab said: The Nafl is from te Khumus. 10. lbn Umar reported: When Allah Apostle ﷺ came back from the Battle of Hunain; Umar asked Allah Messenger ﷺ about the vow he had taken during the days of Ignorance that he would observe Itikaf for a day. The rest of the hadith is the same. SahihMuslim-017-001-17557
