SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1302Narrated AlMiswar Bin Makhrama: The group of people whom Umar had selected as candidates for the Caliphate gathered and consulted each other. Abdulrahman said to them; I am not going to compete with you in this matter; but if you wish; I would select for you a caliph from among you. So all of them agreed to let Abdulrahman decide the case. So when the candidates placed the case in the hands of Abdulrahman the people went towards him and nobody followed the rest of the group nor obeyed any after him. So the people followed Abdulrahman and consulted him all those nights till there came the night we gave the oath of allegiance to Uthman. AlMiswar bin Makhrama added: Abdulrahman called on me after a portion of the night had passed and knocked on my door till I got up; and he said to me; I see you have been sleeping! By Allah; during the last three nights I have not slept enough. Go and call AlZubair and Sad. So I called them for him and he consulted them and then called me saying; Call Ali for me. I called Ali and he held a private talk with him till very late at night; and then Al; got up to leave having had much hope to be chosen as a Caliph but Abdulrahman was afraid of something concerning Ali. Abdulrahman then said to me; Call Uthman for me. I called him and he kept on speaking to him privately till the Muadh-dhin put an end to their talk by announcing the Adhan for the Fajr prayer. When the people finished their morning prayer and that six men group gathered near the pulpit; Abdulrahman sent for all the Muhajirin emigrants and the Ansar present there and sent for the army chief who had performed the Hajj with Umar that year. When all of them had gathered; Abdulrahman said; None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; and added; Now then; O Ali; I have looked at the people tendencies and noticed that they do not consider anybody equal to Uthman; so you should not incur blame by disagreeing. Then Abdulrahman said to Uthman ; I gave the oath of allegiance to you on condition that you will follow Allah Laws and the traditions of Allah Apostle and the traditions of the two Caliphs after him. So Abdulrahman gave the oath of allegiance to him; and so did the people including the Muhajirin emigrants and the Ansar and the chiefs of the army staff and all the Muslims. The Chapter on Alansar And Dirhams in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on How do the people give the Baia to the Imam in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1535Narrated: Abu Abdulrahman and Hibban Bin Atiya had a dispute. Abu Abdulrahman said to Hibban; You know what made your companions i.e. Ali dare to shed blood. Hibban said; Come on! What is that? Abdulrahman said; Something I heard him saying. The other said; What was it? Abdulrahman said; Ali said; Allah Messenger ﷺ sent for me; AlZubair and Abu Marthad; and all of us were cavalry men; and said; Proceed to Raudat-Hajj Abu Salama said that Abu Awana called it like this; i.e.; Hajj where there is a woman carrying a letter from Hatib Bin Abi Baltaa to the pagans of Mecca. So bring that letter to me. So we proceeded riding on our horses till we overtook her at the same place of which Allah Messenger ﷺ had told us. She was traveling on her camel. In that letter Hatib had written to the Meccans about the proposed attached of Allah Messenger ﷺ against them. We asked her; Where is the letter which is with you? She replied; I havent got any letter. So we made her camel kneel down and searched her luggage; but we did not find anything. My two companions said; We do not think that she has got a letter. I said; We know that Allah Messenger ﷺ has not told a lie. Then Ali took an oath saying; By Him by Whom one should swear! You shall either bring out the letter or we shall strip off your clothes. She then stretched out her hand for her girdle round her waist and brought out the paper letter. They took the letter to Allah Messenger ﷺ. Umar said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Hatib has betrayed Allah; His Apostle and the believers; let me chop off his neck! Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Hatib! What obliged you to do what you have done? Hatib replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Why for what reason should I not believe in Allah and His Apostle? But I intended to do the Mecca people a favor by virtue of which my family and property may be protected as there is none of your companions but has some of his people relatives whom Allah urges to protect his family and property. The Prophet ﷺ said; He has said the truth; therefore; do not say anything to him except good. Umar again said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He has betrayed Allah; His Apostle and the believers; let me chop his neck off! The Prophet ﷺ said; Isnt he from those who fought the battle of Badr? And what do you know; Allah might have looked at them Badr warriors and said to them ; Do what you like; for I have granted you Paradise? On that; Umar eyes became flooded with tears and he said; Allah and His Apostle know best. The Chapter on Military Expedition And Makkah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on AlMutaawalin in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2592Narrated Aisha: the wife of the Prophet that she was told that Abdullah Bin AlZubair on hearing that she was selling or giving something as a gift said; By Allah; if Aisha does not give up this; I will declare her incompetent to dispose of her wealth. I said; Did he Abdullah Bin AlZubair say so? They people said; Yes. Aisha said; I vow to Allah that I will never speak to Ibn AlZubair. When this desertion lasted long; Abdullah Bin AlZubair sought intercession with her; but she said; By Allah; I will not accept the intercession of anyone for him; and will not commit a sin by breaking my vow. When this state of affairs was prolonged on Ibn AlZubair he felt it hard on him ; he said to AlMiswar Bin Makhrama and Abdulrahman Bin AlAswad Bin Abu Yaghuth; who were from the tribe of Bani Zahra; I beseech you; by Allah; to let me enter upon Aisha; for it is unlawful for her to vow to cut the relation with me. So AlMiswar and Abdulrahman wrapping their sheets around themselves; asked Aisha permission saying; Peace and Allah Mercy and Blessings be upon you! Shall we come in? Aisha said; Come in. They said; All of us? She said; Yes; come in all of you; not knowing that Ibn AlZubair was also with them. So when they entered; Ibn AlZubair entered the screened place and got hold of Aisha and started requesting her to excuse him; and wept. AlMiswar and Abdulrahman also started requesting her to speak to him and to accept his repentance. They said to her ; The Prophet ﷺ forbade what you know of deserting not speaking to your Muslim Brethren ; for it is unlawful for any Muslim not to talk to his brother for more than three nights days. So when they increased their reminding her of the superiority of having good relation with Kith and kin; and of excusing others sins ; and brought her down to a critical situation; she started reminding them; and wept; saying; I have made a vow; and the question of vow is a difficult one. They AlMiswar and Abdulrahman persisted in their appeal till she spoke with Abdullah Bin AlZubair and she manumitted forty slaves as an expiation for her vow. Later on; whenever she remembered her vow; she used to weep so much that her veil used to become wet with her tears. The Chapter on Obligations Towards Expiatory in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on AlHijra in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2656Narrated Abdulrahman Bin Abu Bakr: Abu Bakr invited a group of people and told me; Look after your guests. Abu Bakr added; I am going to visit the Prophet ﷺ and you should finish serving them before I return. Abdulrahman said; So I went at once and served them with what was available at that time in the house and requested them to eat. They said; Where is the owner of the house i.e.; Abu Bakr ? Abdulrahman said; Take your meal. They said; We will not eat till the owner of the house comes. Abdulrahman said; Accept your meal from us; for if my father comes and finds you not having taken your meal yet; we will be blamed severely by him; but they refused to take their meals. So I was sure that my father would be angry with me. When he came; I went away to hide myself from him. He asked; What have you done about the guests ? They informed him the whole story. Abu Bakr called; O Abdulrahman I kept quiet. He then called again. O Abdulrahman I kept quiet and he called again; O ignorant boy ! I beseech you by Allah; if you hear my voice; then come out! I came out and said; Please ask your guests and do not be angry with me. They said; He has told the truth; he brought the meal to us. He said; As you have been waiting for me; by Allah; I will not eat of it tonight. They said; By Allah; we will not eat of it till you eat of it. He said; I have never seen a night like this night in evil. What is wrong with you? Why dont you accept your meals of hospitality from us? He said to me ; Bring your meal. I brought it to him; and he put his hand in it; saying; In the name of Allah. The first state of fury was because of Satan. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2880Narrated Ikrima: Rifaa divorced his wife whereupon Abdulrahman Bin AlZubair AlQurazi married her. Aisha said that the lady came ; wearing a green veil and complained to her Aisha of her husband and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating. It was the habit of ladies to support each other; so when Allah Messenger ﷺ came; Aisha said; I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes! When Abdulrahman heard that his wife had gone to the Prophet; he came with his two sons from another wife. She said; By Allah! I have done no wrong to him but he is impotent and is as useless to me as this; holding and showing the fringe of her garment; Abdulrahman said; By Allah; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! She has told a lie! I am very strong and can satisfy her but she is disobedient and wants to go back to Rifaa. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; to her; If that is your intention; then know that it is unlawful for you to remarry Rifaa unless Abdulrahman has had sexual intercourse with you. Then the Prophet ﷺ saw two boys with Abdulrahman and asked him ; Are these your sons? On that Abdulrahman said; Yes. The Prophet ﷺ said; You claim what you claim i.e.. that he is impotent ? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3383Narrated Amr Bin Maimun: I saw Umar Bin AlKhattab a few days before he was stabbed in Medina. He was standing with Hudhaifa Bin AlYaman and Uthman Bin Hunaif to whom he said; What have you done? Do you think that you have imposed more taxation on the land of AlSwad i.e. Iraq than it can bear? They replied; We have imposed on it what it can bear because of its great yield. Umar again said; Check whether you have imposed on the land what it can not bear. They said; No; we havent. Umar added; If Allah should keep me alive I will let the widows of Iraq need no men to support them after me. But only four days had elapsed when he was stabbed to death. The day he was stabbed; I was standing and there was nobody between me and him i.e. Umar except Abdullah Bin Abbas. Whenever Umar passed between the two rows; he would say; Stand in straight lines. When he saw no defect in the rows ; he would go forward and start the prayer with Takbir. He would recite Surat Yousif or AlNahl or the like in the first raka so that the people may have the time to Join the prayer. As soon as he said Takbir; I heard him saying; The dog has killed or eaten me; at the time he i.e. the murderer stabbed him. A non-Arab infidel proceeded on carrying a double-edged knife and stabbing all the persons he passed by on the right and left till he stabbed thirteen persons out of whom seven died. When one of the Muslims saw that; he threw a cloak on him. Realizing that he had been captured; the non-Arab infidel killed himself; Umar held the hand of Abdulrahman Bin Auf and let him lead the prayer. Those who were standing by the side of Umar saw what I saw; but the people who were in the other parts of the Masjid did not see anything; but they lost the voice of Umar and they were saying; Subhan Allah! Subhan Allah! i.e. Glorified be Allah. Abdulrahman Bin Auf led the people a short prayer. When they finished the prayer; Umar said; O Ibn Abbas! Find out who attacked me. Ibn Abbas kept on looking here and there for a short time and came to say. The slave of AlMughira. On that Umar said; The craftsman? Ibn Abbas said; Yes. Umar said; May Allah curse him. I did not treat him unjustly. All the Praises are for Allah Who has not caused me to die at the hand of a man who claims himself to be a Muslim. No doubt; you and your father Abbas used to love to have more non-Arab infidels in Medina. AlAbbas had the greatest number of slaves. Ibn Abbas said to Umar. If you wish; we will do. He meant; If you wish we will kill them. Umar said; You are mistaken for you cant kill them after they have spoken your language; prayed towards your Qibla; and performed Hajj like yours. Then Umar was carried to his house; and we went along with him; and the people were as if they had never suffered a calamity before. Some said; Do not worry he will be Alright soon. Some said; We are afraid that he will die. Then an infusion of dates was brought to him and he drank it but it came out of the wound of his belly. Then milk was brought to him and he drank it; and it also came out of his belly. The people realized that he would die. We went to him; and the people came; praising him. A young man came saying; O chief of the believers! Receive the glad tidings from Allah to you due to your company with Allah Messenger ﷺ and your superiority in Islam which you know. Then you became the ruler i.e. Caliph and you ruled with justice and finally you have been martyred. Umar said; I wish that all these privileges will counterbalance my shortcomings so that I will neither lose nor gain anything. When the young man turned back to leave; his clothes seemed to be touching the ground. Umar said; Call the young man back to me. When he came back Umar said; O son of my brother! Lift your clothes; for this will keep your clothes clean and save you from the Punishment of your Lord. Umar further said; O Abdullah Bin Umar! See how much I am in debt to others. When the debt was checked; it amounted to approximately eighty-six thousand. Umar said; If the property of Umar family covers the debt; then pay the debt thereof; otherwise request it from Bani Adi Bin Kaab and if that too is not sufficient; ask for it from Quraish tribe; and do not ask for it from any one else; and pay this debt on my behalf. Umar then said to Abdullah ; Go to Aisha the mother of the believers and say: Umar is paying his salutation to you. But dont say: The chief of the believers; because today I am not the chief of the believers. And say: Umar Bin AlKhattab asks the permission to be buried with his two companions i.e. the Prophet; and Abu Bakr. Abdullah greeted Aisha and asked for the permission for entering; and then entered to her and found her sitting and weeping. He said to her; Umar Bin AlKhattab is paying his salutations to you; and asks the permission to be buried with his two companions. She said; I had the idea of having this place for myself; but today I prefer Umar to myself. When he returned it was said to Umar ; Abdullah Bin Umar has come. Umar said; Make me sit up. Somebody supported him against his body and Umar asked Abdullah ; What news do you have? He said; O chief of the believers! It is as you wish. She has given the permission. Umar said; Praise be to Allah; there was nothing more important to me than this. So when I die; take me; and greet Aisha and say: Umar Bin AlKhattab asks the permission to be buried with the Prophet ﷺ ; and if she gives the permission; bury me there; and if she refuses; then take me to the grave-yard of the Muslims. Then Hafsa the mother of the believers came with many other women walking with her. When we saw her; we went away. She went in to Umar and wept there for sometime. When the men asked for permission to enter; she went into another place; and we heard her weeping inside. The people said to Umar ; O chief of the believers! Appoint a successor. Umar said; I do not find anyone more suitable for the job than the following persons or group whom Allah Messenger ﷺ had been pleased with before he died. Then Umar mentioned Ali; Uthman; AlZubair; Talha ; Saad and Abdulrahman bin Auf and said; Abdullah Bin Umar will be a witness to you; but he will have no share in the rule. His being a witness will compensate him for not sharing the right of ruling. If Saad becomes the ruler; it will be alright: otherwise; whoever becomes the ruler should seek his help; as I have not dismissed him because of disability or dishonesty. Umar added; I recommend that my successor takes care of the early emigrants; to know their rights and protect their honor and sacred things. I also recommend that he be kind to the Ansar who had lived in Medina before the emigrants and Belief had entered their hearts before them. I recommend that the ruler should accept the good of the righteous among them and excuse their wrong-doers; and I recommend that he should do good to all the people of the towns AlAnsar ; as they are the protectors of Islam and the source of wealth and the source of annoyance to the enemy. I also recommend that nothing be taken from them except from their surplus with their consent. I also recommend that he do good to the Arab bedouin; as they are the origin of the Arabs and the material of Islam. He should take from what is inferior; amongst their properties and distribute that to the poor amongst them. I also recommend him concerning Allah and His Apostle protectees i.e. Dhimmis to fulfill their contracts and to fight for them and not to overburden them with what is beyond their ability. So when Umar expired; we carried him out and set out walking. Abdullah Bin Umar greeted Aisha and said; Umar Bin AlKhattab asks for the permission. Aisha said; Bring him in. He was brought in and buried beside his two companions. When he was buried; the group recommended by Umar held a meeting. Then Abdulrahman said; Reduce the candidates for rulership to three of you. AlZubair said; I give up my right to Ali. Talha said; I give up my right to Uthman; Sad; I give up my right to Abdulrahman Bin Auf. Abdulrahman then said to Uthman and Ali ; Now which of you is willing to give up his right of candidacy to that he may choose the better of the remaining two; bearing in mind that Allah and Islam will be his witnesses. So both the sheiks i.e. Uthman and Ali kept silent. Abdulrahman said; Will you both leave this matter to me; and I take Allah as my Witness that I will not choose but the better of you? They said; Yes. So Abdulrahman took the hand of one of them i.e. Ali and said; You are related to Allah Messenger ﷺ and one of the earliest Muslims as you know well. So I ask you by Allah to promise that if I select you as a ruler you will do justice; and if I select Uthman as a ruler you will listen to him and obey him. Then he took the other i.e. Uthman Aasi de and said the same to him. When Abdulrahman secured their agreement to this covenant; he said; O Uthman! Raise your hand. So he i.e. Abdulrahman gave him i.e. Uthman the solemn pledge; and then Ali gave him the pledge of allegiance and then all the Medina people gave him the pledge of allegiance. The Chapter on Worship And Almadinah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Baia pledge of Uthman Bin Affan as a caliph in Sahih AlBukhari

We stayed for sometime or as long as Allah wished ; and then Abdulrahman came; scented with yellowish perfume. The Prophet ﷺ said to him What is this? He replied; I got married to an Ansari woman. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5581Narrated Aisha: We set out with Allah Messenger ﷺ shortly before the appearance of the new moon of Dhi AlHijja and he said; Whoever wants to assume Ihram for Umra may do so; and whoever wants to assume Ihram for Hajj may do so. Had not I brought the Hadi with me; I would have assumed Ihram for Umra. Some of the people assumed Ihram for Umra while others for Hajj. I was amongst those who had assumed Ihram for Umra. I got my menses before entering Mecca; and was menstruating till the day of Arafat. I complained to Allah Messenger ﷺ about it; he said; Abandon your Umra; undo and comb your hair; and assume Ihram for Hajj. So; I did that accordingly. When it was the night of Hasba day of departure from Mina ; the Prophet ﷺ sent Abdulrahman with me to AlTanim. The sub-narrator adds: He Abdulrahman let her ride behind him. Abdullah Bin Sahl was killed. They accused the Jews for this act. And there came to Allah Apostle ﷺ his brother the brother of the slain person Abdulrahman and his cousins Huwayisa and Muhayisa; and Abdulrahman talked to him about the matter pertaining to the murder of his brother; and he was the youngest among them. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Show regard for the greatness of the old; or he said: Let the eldest begin speaking. Then they Huwayisa and Muhayisa spoke about the matter of their companion murder of their cousin; Abdullah Bin Sahl. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Let fifty persons among you take oath for levelling the charge of murder against a person amongst them; and he would be surrendered to you. They said: We have not witnessed this matter ourselves. How can we then take oath? He the Holy Prophet said: The Jews will exonerate themselves by the oaths of fifty of them. They said: Messenger of Allah; they are non-believing people. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ paid the blood wit for him. SahihMuslim-017-001-21145Abd AlRabman Bin Abu Bakr reported that the people of Suffa were very poor. Once the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his Companions : He who amongst you has food for two persons should take three guests with him. and he who has with him food for four persons should take five or six guests with him for entertaining them. It was in accordance with these instructions of the Holy Prophet that Abu Bakr brought three persons; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ brought ten persons as guests to their respective houses. Abu Bakr had brought three persons he himself; and myself ; my father and my mother along with therm. He the narrator said: I do not know whether he also said: My wife and one servant who was common between our house and that of Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr had had his evening meal with Allah Apostle ﷺ. He stayed here until night prayer had been offered. He then came back to the house of Allah Apostle and stayed there until Allah Messenger ﷺ felt drowsy and Abu Bakr then came back to his own house when a considerable part of the night had been over; as Allah had desired. His wife said to him: What held you back from your guests? He said: Oh! have you not served them the evening meal by this time ? She said: It was in fact served to them. but they refused to eat until you came. He Abdulrahman said: I slunk away and bid myself. He Abu Bakr said: O; you stupid fellow; and he reprimanded me; and said to the guests: Eat; though it may not be pleasant now. He said: By Allah. I will never eat it He Abdulrahman said: By Allah. we did not take a morsel when from beneath that there appeared more until they had eaten to their fill; and lo! it was more than what it was before. Abu Bakr saw that and found that it was so or more than that. He said to his wife: Sister of Band Firis; what is th-is? She said: By the coolness of my eyes. it is in excess by three times over the previous one. Then Abu Bakr ate saying: That was from the Satan viz. his vow for not eating the food. He then took a morsel out of that and then took it the rest to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and it was kept there until morning; and during those days there was a covenant between us and some other people; and the period of covenant was over; and we had appointed twelve officials with every person amongst them. It is Allah only Who knows as to how many people were there with each of them. He sent this food to them and all of them ate out of it.The Chapter on Food In Basic Instinct in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 32 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-21146Abdulrahman Bin Abd Bakr reported: There came to our house some guests. It was a common practice with my father to go and talk to Allah Messenger ﷺ during the night. While going he said: Abdulrahman entertain the guests. When it was evening we served the food to them; but they refused saying: So long as the owner of the house does not come and join us; we would not take the meal. I said to them: He Abd Bakr is a stern person; and if you would not do that if you do not take the food. I fear; I may be harmed by him; but they refused. As he my father came; the first thing he asked was: Have you served the guests? They the peopleof the household said: We have not served them sofar. He said: Did I not command Abdulrahman to do this ? He Abdulrahman said: I slunk away and kept myself away by that time. He again said: O stupid fellow; I ask you on oath that In case you hear my voice you come to me. I came and said: By Allah; there is no fault of mine. These are your guests; you may ask them. I provided them with food but they refused to eat until you came. He said to them: Why is it that you did not accept our food? By Allah; I shall not even take food tonight as you have not taken. They said: By Allah; we would not take until you join us. Thereupon he Abu Bakr said: I have never seen a more unfortunate night than this. Woe be to thee! that you do not accept from us food prepared for you. He again said: What I did first that is the taking of vow for not eating the food was prompted by the Satan. Bring the food. The food was brought; and he ate by reciting the name of Allah and they also ate; and when it was morning he came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger; their oath that of the guests came to be true; but mine was not true; and after that he informed him of the whole incident. I made a mention of it to Abdulrahman Bin Harith i. e. to his father but he denied it. Abdulrahman went and I also went along with him till we came toAisha and Umm Salamah Allah be pleased with both of them and Abdulrahman asked them about it. Both of them said: At times it so happened that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up in the morning in a state of junub but without seminal emission in a dream and observed fast He the narrator said: We then proceeded till we went to Marwan and Abdulrahman made a mention of it to him. Upon this Marwan said: I stress upon you with an oath that you better go to Abu Huraira and refer to him what is said about it. So we came to Abu Huraira and Abu Bakr had been with us throughout and Abdulrahman made a mention of it to him; whereupon Abu Huraira said: Did they the two wives of the Holy Prophet tell you this? He replied: Yes Upon this Abu Huraira said: They have better knowledge. Abu Huraira then attributed that what was said about it to Fadl Bin Abbas and said: I heard it from Fadl and not from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Abu Huraira then retracted from what he used to say about it. Ibn Juraij one of the narrators reported: I asked Abd AlMalik; if they the two wives said made the statement in regard to Ramadan; whereupon he said: It was so; and he the Holy Prophet woke up in the morning in a state of junub which was not due to the wet dream and then observed fast. The Chapter on Special Days And Fasting The Month Of Ramadan in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 13 in Sahih Muslim

He abandoned the main road before the dawn prayer; and I also did the same along with him. The Prophet ﷺ made his camel kneel down and went to relieve himself. He then came back and I poured water upon his hands from the skin-vessel. He then washed his hands and face. He tried to get his forearms out of the gown ; but the sleeves of the gown were too narrow; so he entered back both his hands; and brought them out from beneath the gown. He washed his forearms up to the elbows and wiped his head and wiped over his socks.80 He then mounted his camel and we began to proceed until we found people offering the prayer. They brought forward Abdulrahman Bin Awuf who was leading them in prayer. The Prophet ﷺ stood in the row side by side with other Muslims. He performed the second rakah of the prayer behind Abdulrahman Bin Awuf. Then Abdulrahman uttered salutation. The Prophet ﷺ stood to perform the remaining rakah of the prayer. The Muslims were alarmed. They began to utter tasbih Subhan Allah presuming that they had offered prayer before the Prophet ﷺ had done. He and some people who were with him on horses proceeded on driving them away. I turned my face towards Madeenah and shouted three times. A morning raid; I then went after the people shooting arrows at them and hamstringing them their beasts. When a horseman returned to me; I sat in the foot of a tree till there was no riding beast of the Prophet ﷺ created by Allaah which I had not kept behind my back. They threw away more than thirty lance and thirty cloaks to lighten themselves. Then Uyainah came to them with reinforcement and said A few of you should go to him. Four of them stood and came to me. They ascended a mountain. Then they came near me till they could hear my voice. I told them Do you know me? They said Who are you? I replied I am Ibn AlAkwa. By Him Who honored the face of Muhammad ﷺ if any man of you pursues he cannot catch me and if I pursue him; I will not miss him. This went on with me till I saw the horsemen of the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ coming through the trees. AlAkhram AlAsadi was at their head. He then joined Abdulrahman Bin Uyainah and Abdulrahman turned over him. They attacked each other with lances. AlAkhram hamstrung Abd AlRahmans horse and Abdulrahman pierced a lance in his body and killed him. Abdulrahman then returned on the horse of AlAkhram. Ibn Abbas said; Umar Ibn AlKhattab said; all the first Muhajir unto me. He assembled them and asked them for advice; informing them that the plague had broken out in AlSham. They disagreed. Some said; You have set out for something; and we do not think that you should leave it. Others said; You have the companions of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and the rest of the people with you; and we do not think that you should send them towards this plague. Umar said; Leave me. Then he said; Summon the Ansar to me. They were summoned and he asked them for advice. They acted as the Muhajirun had and disagreed as they had disagreed. He said; Leave me. Then he said; Summon to me whoever is here of the aged men of Quraysh from the Muhajirun of the conquest. He summoned them and not one of them differed. They said; We think that you should withdraw the people and not send them towards the plague. Umar called out to the people; I am leaving by camel in the morning; so they set out. Abu Ubayda said; Is it flight from the decree of Allah? Umar said; Better that someone other than you had said it; Abu Ubayda. Yes. We flee from the decree of Allah to the decree of Allah. What would you think if these camels had gone down into a valley which had two slopes; one of them fertile; and the other barren. So Umar flogged him with the hadd of eighty lashes. Malik said; There is no hadd in our view except for slander; denial or insinuation; in which one sees that the speaker intends by that denial or slander.
